little batty sticker (etsy)
I drew this thinking of the little brown bat, a mouse-eared microbial found in North America and now listed as endangered due to white-nose syndrome spreading through their populations

Meet the High Priest, the cosmic guru rocking a vibe that's all about wisdom, mystique, and your inner teacher. Imagine this wise figure, seated between two pillars, holding a sacred staff, representing tradition. The other hand is raised in a gesture that says, "I'm channeling cosmic wisdom, and it's not all for you yet." Their throne is like a cosmic meditation cushion, inviting you to join in the wisdom-sharing session (like the two figures before them). Two keys of inner and outer knowledge sit crossed, waiting for you to use them to unlock incredible vaults.
Drawing the High Priest card is like meeting a cool old wizard. They're inviting you to set immaculate standards for yourself, ask why things can't be better, and embark on a journey of self-discovery guided by the cosmic guru of cool. 🌌🔮✨
When The High Priest shows up for you, consider:
looking to familiar rituals, writings, or traditions for insight on your issue
consider your mentors or ancestors who have walked this road before you. what have they done? what would they do?
can you invest more in your own spiritual growth? is it time to return to your meditation practice? or perhaps a study group?
If you read cards reversed and the High Priest comes upside down, consider:
are you being too strict, stiff, unforgiving, or dogmatic?
are you living by principles you adopted but don't really believe in?
are you being hostile to people who think or believe differently than you?

NGL, The Emperor intimidates the hell out of me.
Say hi to the big boss of the cosmic squad, rocking wisdom and authority with a dash of cool. Imagine this chill dude on a throne, wearing a robe that's basically the cosmic version of a power suit. His beard and mustache game? On point, giving him that wise and seasoned vibe.
Check out his gear: a scepter in one hand, like, "I'm in charge here," and an orb in the other, saying, "Yep, I got the whole universe in my boney hands." His throne is sturdy and ready for business.
The Emperor's gaze is all knowing, like your friend who gives the best advice. He's got this protective vibe, watching over the cosmic show with a mix of wisdom and care. He's big into justice, order, and making sure shit gets done.
Incidentally, this is the card for Aries. See those ram's heads on the armrest? He embodies the ram's forward momentum and drive.
He (and the other gendered cards in this deck) is just a skeleton. He is able to gender bend. While The Emperor represents strong male energy, the manifestation of that masculinity is highly up for interpretation.
Pulling The Emperor card is like getting a high-five from the universe to tap into your own boss vibes. It's time to own your journey, make strategic moves, and rock that leadership role in your cosmic adventure. Just make sure you aren't working in isolation or thinking in black and white. 👑✨
When The Emperor appears for you, consider:
are you remaining open to input? co-leaders? or have you taken a project and run with it, alone and ahead of everyone else?
look out for control issues -- or passivity!
check yourself for stubbornness or lack of accountability
appreciate your self-discipline
consider stepping up and taking a bigger role in projects around you
If you read cards in reverse and he shows up for you there, consider his shadow sides:
how's your anger?
your self-control?
aggression?
self-determination?

“As my friend Julian puts it, only half winkingly: “God blessed me by making me transsexual for the same reason God made wheat but not bread and fruit but not wine, so that humanity might share in the act of creation.”  ― Daniel Mallory Ortberg, Something That May Shock and Discredit You

this is a progress video of a kind of doodly painting I made last week. making a time-lapse makes me think I should declare that it reality this took hours over several days! Even though the video is a minute long.
This is a type of work I bring to craft shows or send to one of the galleries I have work in. A fun, vibrant piece made with gold and color-shifting watercolor that shows different colors based on the viewing angle.

Meet the High Priestess, the cosmic confidante with a vibe that's all about those mystical secrets and moonlit mysteries. Picture her chilling between two chill pillars, rocking flowing robes, and cradling a scroll that's basically the handbook of all things enchanting.
In The Skeleton Tarot deck, the High Priestess takes on a unique and intriguing form. The skeletal High Priestess retains an air of mystery and intuition, inviting contemplation of the unseen realms. The absence of flesh and the presence of bones may add a layer of symbolism, signifying the bare essentials of wisdom and the eternal nature of cosmic knowledge.
She (and the other gendered cards in this deck) is just a skeleton. She is able to gender bend. While the High Priestess represents the divine feminine, the manifestation of that femininity is highly up for interpretation.
She's got this wise but approachable aura, you know? Like your cool aunt who always knows what's up. Check out the moon crescent under her feet, telling you she's in tune with those celestial vibes. And that veil behind her, covered with pomegranates and huge leaves? It's like the curtain to a hidden clubhouse full of juicy potential where the real magic happens. She's a guide to your inner world. Hanging out with her is like entering a dreamy space where reality and dreams have this rad cosmic dance.
So, if you pull the High Priestess card, get ready to tap into your inner wisdom, embrace the mystery, and follow the moonlit path to your own awesome, enchanted world. 🌙✨
When the High Priestess appears, think about:
how's your intuition doing? finely tuned? being ignored? or cranked into overdrive?
how you are balancing the feminine and masculine aspects of your spirit
if something from your past has resurfaced, can she guide you to understanding?
If you read cards reversed, when The High Priestess appears it might be calling you out on:
superficiality. mama wants you to go DEEP!
missed signals from your gut
disingenuous acts
nihilism

Behold the Empress, the ultimate plant mama, cosmic nurturer of creative abundance and connection wrapped in a blanket of blooming abundance. Despite the absence of flesh, she exudes an approachable warmth, cradling the essence of growth and abundance in her skeletal arms, a testament to the fertile energy she radiates. A crown of stars adorns her skull, whispering tales of celestial connection.
Her throne, a seat of nature's finest, is the heartbeat of creation. The wheat at her feet dances in the breeze, a symbol of fruitful harvest and prosperity. The Empress herself, a gentle guardian, beckons you into the embrace of her motherly wisdom.
With every petal, every leaf, and the pomegranates on her cape, she weaves a tale of growth, fertility, and the cyclical dance of seasons.
She (and the other gendered cards in this deck) is just a skeleton. She is able to gender bend. While the Empress represents the a feminine parental love, the manifestation of that femininity is highly up for interpretation.
As the next step after The Magician and The High Priestess, she represents the marriage of the two. The Empress is basically the queen of creativity and love, and her vibe is like a warm hug from the universe. Hanging out with her is like getting a pep talk from your coolest, plant-loving friend. So, if you draw the Empress card, get ready to embrace the good stuff – love, creativity, and all the beautiful chaos that life throws your way. 🌸✨
When The Empress shows up for you, consider:
what seeds you need to sow. new projects? new relationships? she's saying, "bring them to my garden, tend them, and they will flourish."
what is the world you want to live in? she invites us to imagine the futures we desire and expect pleasure and passion in return.
are old longings or unfinished business hanging around? maybe it's time to water those seeds.
giving extra love to the people, creatures (and plants!) in your life today
reviewing where you are in your life's cycles. is it time to prune? fertilize?
what negative feelings or patterns can you compost?
If you read cards in reverse and The Empress shows up for you upside down, consider her shadow sides:
emotional numbness
attachment issues
dwelling on the past
watering unhelpful seeds like distrust
"love" that hurts others
