These hands had to let it go free, and this love came back to me

After resetting the timeline and setting Sylvie free, Loki returns to say his final goodbyes. But as per usual, words are not easy to find, especially when one tries to pour your heart out whilst drunk.

-“Norns why is this always so difficult…..” he growls to himself, as he put his hands on his hips and all but stamps.

“I prepared this whole Jævla speech and now I can’t remember a single word”.

It would be comical and almost charming if she wasn’t so hurt by their conversation earlier, where he’d made it explicitly clear she wasn’t and never was, a priority in his future.

“Maybe the bourbon was a mistake after all….”

Her brow furrows, annoyance building as she shakes her head.

“Oh my god………you absolute clown, are you drunk?” she hisses at him, her cheeks rouging with fury.

Loki stiffens, wincing slightly as he realizes what he’s done.

“No….yes….” he flushes, knowing he’s already on thin ice “maybe a little”.-

The fact that he said “for you” doesn't hit on because they didn't have any normal conversation about feelings. Zero connection. Why he didn’t kiss her goodbye?? Or at least hugged??

Well it happened, Loki season 2 broke my heart worse than TROS. At least Ben Solo got a kiss and to hold the one he loved before he was condemned to a place beyond time. What did Loki truly get in the end but loneliness and pain?

What true resolution did Loki and Sylvies relationship have in end, when it is brutally obvious he loved her?

I think after all the lingering looks and pained expressions, he should have at least had the opportunity, just once, to tell her the full extent of his feelings explicitly. To say goodbye.

It just seems a missed opportunity considering everything that went before.

Season 1 will always be superior in my mind, for it's fun and sweet, romantic moments, but season 2 has been spectacular.

It's been a bittersweet journey, but I hope that the sun will shine on Loki again.

I hope Loki will see Sylvie again.

Until then, I will be drowning my sorrows in fix-it fics and rewatching season 1 whilst sobbing.
