status update

so hi. been a while on this tumblr blog.

I'll be honest, I've been throwing myself busy with schoolwork and other stuff in my life to avoid having to think about the recent events and chaos in the community, hence no real updates on anything writing-related.

I've generally stopped watching the streams from the mcyt community as often, too. With qsmp stuff happening right after, it's been hard to just stay invested. This does not mean, however, that the characters stopped living in my head. Emotionally I still love and hold them dearly.

My ultimate decision as to what to do with wilbur's character (a character I practically feature in all my fics to one extent or another) is to make him an original character to each story, kind of like making up an original bursona rather than actually using the 'canon' character. I already tend to write Wilbur as ooc to fit my stories, so changing his name and appearance to suit the story narrative isn't a big problem to me.

Regarding the ongoing fics that already feature Wilbur prominently, I'll do my best to also change him from the character. Wilbur from my ongoing "family in the face of adversity" fanfiction will go through a quick makeover arch with a few old story edits, while the 'egg island' fanfic will probably just rewrite him from the ground up and only keep his name intact.

Fanfics that have already ended will stay up as they are, similarly to my Foreverplayer fanfiction. I do not see a reason to change them aside from a note explaining that I no longer support the creator.

In more positive news, three out of the seven remaining chapters for "family in the face of adversity" are already prewritten and waiting. I am following up on my earlier promise to write all the chapters at once and then post them immediately.

Those that are waiting for the qsmp "egg island fic" are gonna have to wait longer until I tweak my wilbur enough for me to be satisfied.

With the recent things as of late i want to say i fucking hate wilbur soot and despite his name in my fics, he is nothing to me.

Don’t think for a second that me continuing to write on ao3 means i support him in any way, because this is the way im thinking about it— his shitty decisions are not going to dictate the fate of something i spent YEARS making. These stories are mine, not his. I made my fics with my own heart and they will stay being mine. The grand majority of them are so far from the actual person at this point, anyway, so its my own character. “Wil” within my fics is just my character. I will never support the cc ever again.

Believe victims. God fucking damn it.

While I was excited and love what I had planned for the story, due to my current stance on Wilbur and my withdrawal of support, I'm conflicted. What do y'all think I should do?

my current statement on wilbur's apology

My head's kinda in pieces right now, so this might be a bit of a ramble so here we go.

Going forward, I will no longer be supporting Wilbur Soot or Lovejoy

Seeing as multiple other ccs much closer to him than I could ever be as a fan have spoken out against him and that the apology was at best mediocre, I have decided it's best to drop him as of now.

It'll take me a bit longer to give up Lovejoy as I've used the songs to cope with my anxiety for over a year and a half now and haven't found anything else to replace it, but over time I should be able to let go (for now, i will focus on listening to the songs through unofficial lyric videos so that it doesn't profit him in any way and looking for other comfort bands. Music is how I've always coped, and hopefully, I can find something else to give my attention to)

My support will always be with the victims in the situation and hearing their voices first, which in this case happens to be Shubble. Give her all the love and support you can and drop his content when you feel ready to do so. He's not worth your support.

I will continue to write my SBI fanfiction as I have been before but will make it a point to separate the cc!wilbur from c!wilbur. My main fanfiction, "Family Against All The Adversity" has meant a LOT to me and I put a lot of effort into it. I'd go as far as to say it was the only long project that I've gone so far into writing and with a history of leaving stories without an ending I don't want to abandon it and leave it at a loose end.

To minimize the damage caused by this, I might just write all the remaining chapters and finish them in one go while also cutting down on Wilbur's presence in the story with a focus on other members of the SBI crew.

As for my other fics...I don't know. To people who follow what else I write on ao3, you're probably aware I started a new qsmp tntduo fic. One I was really excited to write too. As of now, it is only two chapters into development so I don't know if it would make sense to continue writing it. I might make poll later to see how my readers feel about it since there's no point writing the story if the audience doesn't want to hear it.

For now, stay safe, support Shubble and take all the time you need to process the situation and find ways to cope. Get into other streamers, ones who actually deserve your support, and trust me when I say things will get better.

i hate the rhetoric of 'oh, you didn't stop enjoying something soon enough, see I did it when this happened, i'm a better person than you!'. it's not only performative and self-righteous, but when you act like that you push people on the fence or still in the stages of working through what they feel and believe into further and more extreme defensive positions- often away from disavowing support for things because they feel like they won't be in a accepted space for not leaving it behind sooner.

when you ostracize people and guilt them when they're still in the process of learning and coming to term with big changes, ones they've already started to work towards and commited themselves to enough to share it publicly, you push them into a place where a lot of that self reflection and work feels meaningless. shame is a strong emotion and the reactions people have to it are not often rational. that doesn't excuse anything harmful, obviously, but if you truly want to make your communities and general internet experience better you should do everything you can to foster places where people can change without feeling as if they're some monsterous big scary 'problematic' person.

no one is ever better than someone else for coming to the same exact conculsion, just earlier. that is the point of why so many people advocate for education. not everyone progresses the same and to expect that is insane. it's also just really fucking annoying

streamer recommendations

I'm gonna be honest.

The recent events in the mcyt community have been stressing me out for the past few days, and I think I need to cut myself off entirely until my headspace is clear.

Even watching my other favorite streamers (philza, charlie, tommy) is making me uncomfortable with just how much they all connect to that one guy and the fallout it will bring. And especially with how feral the fandom is right now about having a clear black-and-white stance on it immediately.

Can anyone recommend any of their comfort game streamers outside of mcyt community? or at least smaller creators that are very far removed from that part of mcyt?
