Of course, all this is subject to change, but for now, Chapter Four is literally “darkest hour” where Henry is dropped into the darkest part of the studio. This unfathomably large place hosts, among other things, a cult run by Mr. Prophet himself!

The entirety of this chapter is trying not to get brutally murdered and sacrificed to the ink demon, as well as a lore dump. Henry is in constant surveillance, so it is important to be sneaky.

Sammy gets an upgrade in this chapter, as you could probably guess. He’s now officially 7 feet tall and has taken and covered himself in countless of his followers’ bones. His role is the same as his role in normal Chapter 2 (to sacrifice Henry), but just in a bit of a different place, and he’s much more threatening.

Besides that, he has much more screen time whether you decide to talk with him or not: As said before, you have to sneak around, and one of the people that can find you is Sammy, which leads to an instant game over.

As for the homoerotic tension, that’s mostly because he wants your blood and has even more time to wax poetic about his lord and savior in your face.

The title is no longer "Bendy and the X". Now it's "Bendy: The Cage"

Henry mentions The Pit. it's that one place in the game that Heidi told us ghosts are trapped inside. It's also where the Last Reel was hidden by Wilson, but we never got to actually visit the place in the game. Joey's ghost went inside and then brought it to Audrey at the end. This teaser implies that Henry went in together with him and the next game is going to explore what actually happened inside

My two big faves beside Bendy are OFF by Mortis Ghost and Soma.

Other I really enjoyed on top of my mind are Journey, Omori, The Witch House, Prey(2017), Cuphead, FNAF: Security Breach.

Just to avoid reblog chaining/ bendysplaining on lucky-dreamfisher's post, I'm gonna throw this Tweet up here and talk about it.

Here's the thing, Meatly has labeled the all the books as "fun extras." All the books, meaning the Employee Handbook, Illusion of Living, Crack-Up-Comics, DCTL, TLO, and Fade to Black.

And yes, they are bonus content. You do not need to read them to understand the base games. It's just odd to me that they're being treated as if they have no connection or impact on the "canon" of the games. It just feels a little disingenuous.

Illusion of Living is Joey's autobiography. Yes, it is completely fair to expect people NOT to read it, because how well it holds your attention largely hinges on how much you like Joey, and Joey talking about Joey. But you CAN'T ignore the fact that this is a giant life story dump from one of the most integral characters to the plot.

And then we have Buddy from DCTL being HEAVILY implied to be our Boris. It was never confirmed from what I remember, but the timing of the transformation lined up with BATDS. So we could argue that even DCTL still has SOME lore relevancy as far as the games go.

Even the Employee Handbook has notes and other details from the lives of the JDS employees (on top of being an actual game guide lol.)

I guess the main thing that confuses me is this; if you are going to have books that tie into Bendy's canon, why call them "fun extras"? Why separate them?

I'm all for the authors having their creative freedom, (I've said before how much I love Adrienne Kress's work and how much she breathes a soul into these characters,) but specifically pointing out how the authors "make things their own" in the context of this Tweet seems to mean it separates the books from canon entirely.

Maybe I'm reading the tone of the Tweet as too dismissive. I am biased. I do not like Meatly. It's frustrating to see him as the creator of this franchise twirl his hair and go "well...actually the books are kind of the authors' thing idk..." when, hilariously, the books are just echoing the game's characters and lore nearly down to a tee.

TL;DR The Bendy books are plot relevant, why are we (TheMeatly) just now deciding to separate them from canon?

Both batim and batdr lack toony aspect imo

If you won't count Buddy Boris & "toon Bendy" existing and Henry & Audrey making bizarre comments/decisions (+Wilson being comically evil ig), it's not that cartoonish

But also designs lack a bit?...

I'm not about 30s accuracy but about the fact that they didn't created more cartoon abominations like Shipahoy

For *this* reason, Bendy crack up comic collection is the best toonish media to date to me. Because it doesn't feel stale or over the top while still delivering some gags

Also i've started this ask bc I wanted to say that you're one of my fav bendy artists and i REALLY like your designs and ideas for your au. You bring more cartoonish aspects while not changing source material a lot and it's cool!!

Yes 100% agree!! The comics do a killer job and the Bendy series lack toonish stuff. Which.. is bizzarre considering it's the game's trademark. Batdr expecially feels like the devs want to create something more like Bioshock (devs already said it's a big inspo), and nothing wrong with that but looks like a waste to me.

Shipahoy Wilson is perfect because he's exactly what you expect from a toon coming to life wrong. Instead we have a lot of weak designs like the ink widows, the lost ones and the Keepers. The latter HAVE a cool design but If you show them to someone outside the fandom, they'd never guess that they came from a Bendy game.

Also, thank you very much, I put effort trying to not erase too much the original designs, your praise means a lot! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I like that Miss Twisted's popularity was off charts in 2020 bc we sadly lack female toons😭

Also Ruby Goldberg deserved better. She has unique body type (for bendy standards) and she's like super fun even with simply cooking pies and being an inventor.

Absolutely true, it's a shame we haven't see more of Ruby or the other comics characters in the games, they all could have been a great addition in a unique way.
