why write a story if no one's going to read it?

Sometimes you don't want to share a story with others. Sometimes you do want to share it, but no one clicks on the title. So why bother writing it down if the only person you can guarantee will read it is you?

You need to get it out of your head. It just keeps replaying in your imagination on a loop and the only way to get it unstuck is to pin it down on paper.

You need to figure out what the story is. You have a lot of disjointed scenes or lines that you know are connected but you can't quite figure out how.

There's something in the story that's important to you, and you don't want to lose that thing by forgetting it. Future you might find that thing important too.

You want to be able to go back to the story again and again. Maybe to make adjustments over time. Maybe just to revisit a story that gives you the emotional release you need in that moment.

You want to be able to use text-to-speech to read the story aloud to you. Maybe it's a bedtime story. Maybe it's keeping you company while you do errands and chores.

You want to find out whether you can write a story (because not everyone can).

You want to be able to have almost the same story, but a little bit different, and you want to have it 15 times with slight variations. Then you can go through your own personal menu picking exactly the combination of beats that will satisfy you most on this reading.

You enjoy the process of finding just the right words or phrases or scenes to paint the pictures you want to shape the scene.

You want to find the exact rhythm and syllables and structure to make a sentence really sing.

You don't really have any particular reason, but you know you want to write that story down.

- rooster and hangman are exes. so are coyote and phoenix, but they’re on good terms.

- hangman knows dolly patron’s entire discography by heart

- coyote speaks portuguese and creole french

- bob gets horrifically sunburnt all the time and never leaves home without sunscreen

- phoenix has a burn scar on her back from an ejection hence the callsign

- fanboy is a spirk shipper. he also shaved his head because he thought it was a requirement to join the navy (he was wrong)

People truly suck donkey balls. I know I've fucked up in the past, but never would I have ever thought to doxx someone. You just don't do that! Y'all need to grow the fuck up and stop being a bunch of assholes. If you don't like someone, then block them. Don't pull a stunt that puts them in danger of losing their livelihood. Don't be petty little fuckers thinking you're hot shit. Because you absolutely are not.

TGM was the first fandom I joined when I stepped back into the world of Tumblr almost two years ago. That was almost a month after I watched both Top Gun (1986) and TGM. I had no plans of watching either movie. But my irl best friend had other ideas. That was how I celebrated my 32nd birthday. I learned rather quickly how to be on here. It was mostly trial and error but I eventually got the hang of it. I'm still learning to this day. And despite the slight chaos that I caused (unintentionally because I really hadn't expected it to go down like that) and taking a break from TGM, I came back to the fandom. What I didn't know was that I still kept one foot out of the fandom.

I know that my page is a multi-fandom page, even though I've been heavily active in only three (TGM, Seal Team, COD), I feel like my time in TGM has been in a stand still. My attention has shifted more to Seal Team as my forefront fandom. I still read a handful of fics from TGM. And I may still continue reading them just so I know how they end. But as for me staying in the fandom after what's happened to a dear friend of mine, I don't know if I want to stay. Like I've said before, I've fucked up myself within this fandom but I never stooped so low that I would doxx someone so they lose their job.

Unlike what Mav told Rooster, y'all need to Think Before You Do.
