okay so i know you guys are all gonna roll your eyes at me but hear me out: Long Live by Taylor Swift as a Rizzles song.
“Long live all the mountains we moved I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you I was screaming long live that look on your face And bring on all the pretenders One day, we will be remembered.“
now, i haven’t watched the finale or any of season 7 but i’ve been spoiled a little bit, so i get the general gist, and this bit just reminded me so much of the girls reflecting back on their time working cases together and all of the stuff they’ve overcome and all that stuff they did- and ‘fighting dragons’ is a lovely little metaphor for ‘catching bad guys’.
There’s also a little line that goes ‘It was the end of a decade/ But the start of an age“ that I thought was kind of nice since season 1 came out in 2010, but that’s just me.
You really need to be listening to the song to catch the emotional gravity of this next bit, but nonetheless the lyrics apply to end-of-show Rizzles:
“Will you take a moment, promise me this That you'll stand by me forever But if God forbid fate should step in And force us into a goodbye If you have children some day When they point to the pictures Please tell them my name Tell them how the crowds went wild Tell them how I hope they shine.”
This bit makes me Gay And Emotional™ because although I really like to think they got together after the finale somehow, there’s also the possibility that they didn’t- that they grew older, got married, had children. And I can imagine either one of them showing their kids an old scrapbook and telling them about this amazing, intelligent, beautiful woman who stole their heart all those years ago. Telling them about the old days, about the things that happened, the stuff they accomplished; their kids would come to the conclusion that their mum was, in fact, a retired superhero, and the other girl was her sidekick.
This concludes 5 decades of ugly gay sobbing. Goodnight.

WARNING: SEASON 2 SPOILERS
this is a really really short fic i wrote after watching episode 1 of season 2. it’s basically based on the idea of things going differently for Abby Sherman and her and Jane building a friendship as they both start to heal. gay if you squint.
The first few days after the shooting, the wound made Abby’s knees shudder from the pain. Nowadays, it was more of a tonne weight, making her every step feel like she was carrying an elephant. As she wobbled over to the bed, you’d be mistaken in thinking that her legs were the ones that got hit. Jane looked up from the spot she’d been mindlessly staring at since Abby went to the bathroom. She smiled as Abby swung herself up onto the bed. “Everything alright?” Abby giggled in an oddly sombre manner. “Jane, you keep talking to me like I’m a broken doll.” Jane gasped quietly to herself and looked forward. “Yeah, no, sorry. I didn’t mean to…” Jane looked over at her again, and gave her a resigned smile. “Sorry.” She laughed. Abby smiled back; a wide beam of soft light in a dull-lit room. “It’s okay.” Her eyes trailed along Jane’s cheekbones. Her face fell flat. “Some of these days I feel like a broken doll.” Jane grinned mirthlessly and nodding, not making eye contact. “I get that. When everyone’s just fussing over you all the time- makes you feel like an out-of-use toilet, doesn’t it?” Abby laughed; a genuine one this time, almost enough to make the wound sting anew. “That’s such a good metaphor. I love it.” Her eyes slowly drifted over to Jane. “You’re not an out-of-use toilet, you know, Jane.” Jane chuckled. “Tell that to everyone trying to fix me.” Abby sighed. Her gaze fell downwards. “At least people are trying to fix you.” On some notes, Jane could’ve sworn some brittleness was starting to creep in, but she shook it off as her imagination. She turned towards Abby. “What do you mean, honey?” Abby’s chest rose and dropped like it’d forgotten how gravity worked. “Well, that was my last tour. I’m done now. Nobody needs me anymore, so they don’t give a rat’s ass whether I’m okay or not.” Jane’s mouth dropped open, her eyes softening. “Oh my god sweetie. That’s horrible.” She lightly gripped her around the arm. She looked down at her arm, and then up at Abby. “Is that okay?” Abby smiled and nodded. Jane rested her head against Abby’s upper arm. “I give a rat’s ass whether you’re okay or not.” She gulped. “…A-and you know what? We’re going to be okay, someday. Together.” Abby nodded, letting her eyes flutter shut. Jane’s words welled up in her chest. “Thank you, Jane. You’re my hero.” That time, Jane definitely heard the tears in her voice.

on that topic Maura definitely flirts in the most ridiculous ways but she’s still flirty as hell and knows exactly what she’s doing...she just doesn’t always know how to do it properly but that has never stopped her before

“that’s a sign of sexual frustration!”
this could go two ways either:
1. maura is trying to flirt in her own amazing special way
2. maura is being oblivious as heck she is literally standing right there k i s s her

full offence but Rizzoli & Isles not only constantly passes the Bechdel test but in the very first episode of the second season it passes it with a conversation between a veteran war hero and a homocide detective injured on the job talking about their respective injuries in the line of duty

i hate it so much but Angel With A Shotgun fits so well with Rizzles especially the episode where Jane teaches Maura to use her shotgun and i’m not crying you’re crying

consider: just before Maura and Jane go to bed, Maura starts on another one of her excited nerd rants about something cool she found out or about something she’s always known but never found anyone to share with and Jane tries her hardest to listen to every word but she quickly finds herself getting caught up in the way Maura’s eyes light up and how fast her lips move and they both end up with the goofiest smiles on their faces
