According to astrological elements, Vish Yoga is formed by the conjunction of Saturn and Moon in one's kundli and is considered inauspicious. Goddess Durga is the Supreme form of Goddess Parvati (complete embodiment of Adi Shakti). Goddess Durga is a warrior form of Goddess Parvati. There is a legend behind celebrating Chaitra Navratri, according to which Maa Durga killed a demon named Mahishasura. It is believed that there was a demon named Mahishasura who was given the boon of immortality by Lord Brahma. Due to this boon, he started troubling everyone from earth to heaven. In such a situation, all the deities reached Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh after being troubled by his atrocities. After this the three deities invoked Adi Shakti. Out of the anger of Lord Shiva and Vishnu and other deities, a flame appeared from the mouth, which turned into a woman. This is how Maa Durga appeared. After this, other gods provided him with weapons. Then Maa Durga challenged Mahishasura. After the war went on for the whole 9 days, on the tenth day the mother killed Mahishasura. It is believed that in these nine days, the mother had killed the demons by wearing nine forms. Because of this, it is celebrated as Navratri of nine days.
Importance of offering food to girls during Chaitra Navratri?
On the Ashtami or Navami date of Chaitra Navratri, most of the people invite the girls to their homes and offer them food along with duly worshiping them and give them gifts according to their ability. The number of girls is odd, which is 1, 5, 7, 9 or 11. Along with this a boy is also made to sit which is called Langoor. According to the Bhagwat Purana, Maa is pleased not only by havan, chanting and meditation but also by worshiping the girl child during Navratri and blesses with happiness, prosperity, good luck and prosperity.
