Body language cues for a few emotions

Happiness:

Smiling genuinely, with crinkles around the eyes.

Open body posture, with relaxed arms and shoulders.

Leaning forward slightly towards the person or object of interest.

Making eye contact with a warm and engaged expression.

Anger:

Tightened jaw and clenched fists.

Furrowed brows and narrowed eyes.

Standing or sitting with a rigid and tense posture.

Pointing fingers or aggressive gestures.

Raised voice or speaking through gritted teeth.

Sadness:

Downcast eyes and a drooping posture.

Slumped shoulders and shallow breathing.

Avoiding eye contact and withdrawing from social interaction.

Sighing or a subdued tone of voice.

Tearfulness, with watery or red eyes.

Fear:

Widened eyes with dilated pupils.

Raised eyebrows and a tense facial expression.

Frozen or rigid body posture.

Backing away or seeking physical distance from the perceived threat.

Trembling or shaking, especially in the hands or legs.

Surprise:

Raised eyebrows and widened eyes.

Mouth slightly agape or forming an "O" shape.

Leaning forward or recoiling backward in response to the surprise.

Quick inhalation or gasp of breath.

Rapid blinking or blinking more than usual.

Disgust:

Curling the upper lip or wrinkling the nose.

Narrowing the eyes and raising the upper eyelids.

Turning the head away or physically distancing oneself from the source of disgust.

Covering the mouth or nose with the hand or a tissue.

Expressing verbal disgust through phrases like "ew" or "yuck."

These are just some examples, and individuals may display variations in their body language based on their personality, cultural background, and the specific context of the situation.

I've had this little idea in my head for a while now, so I decided to sit down and plot it out.

Disclaimer: This isn't meant to be some sort of One-Worksheet-Fits-All situation. This is meant to be a visual representation of some type of story planning you could be doing in order to develop a plot!

Lay down groundwork! (Backstory integral to the beginning of your story.) Build hinges. (Events that hinge on other events and fall down like dominoes) Suspend structures. (Withhold just enough information to make the reader curious, and keep them guessing.)

And hey, is this helps... maybe sit down and write a story! :)

 Reworking of my original Primordial Mother

The Primordial Mother is an example of a living mythos; A maid that is of corporeal and faith. She is seen as both giver and taker. Mother and monster of the cosmic deep. A behemoth of the abyss, she is the leviathan of the mermaid world. 

While many mermaid species don’t possess culture or what would be deemed as such. There are species who do in fact display a sentience, a self awareness and with that a seeming spirituality. In some species of mermaids it appears as though the Primordial Mother is revered as a Goddess figure.

Aside from her spiritual connection to certain mermaid species, it is believed that this specie is in fact the ancient progenitor of all mermaid species. Offerings, effigies, and carvings have been exhibited depicting this colossal maid and were the first things seen of this mysterious God. It was once believe to be purely religious iconography. It wasn’t until much later that the existence of Primordial Mother was confirmed. It is not known if she is aware of her divinity status. 

While not agreed upon, it is believed that there is only ever one Primordial Mother at one time. The species is entirely comprised of males except for her. Males of the species will search the ocean depths to find her. Forming large harems. Many will never find a female Primordial Mother in their lifetime. When the Primordial mother dies, the largest, most dominant male within the harem with undergo a metamorphosis taking her place. Some speculate that there are many, though fewer in number, Primordial mothers. It is not known if this concept of a single mother is purely symbolic albeit believed by mermaid species. Regardless, the Primordial Mother inhabits such depths much of their life will remain a mystery.

16: Biggest and smallest long term goal?

17: Preferred mode of dress and rituals surrounding dress

18: Favorite beverage?

19: What do they think about before falling asleep at night?

20: Childhood illnesses? Any interesting stories behind them?

21: Turn-ons? Turn-offs?

22: Given a blank piece of paper, a pencil, and nothing to do, what would happen?

23: How organized are they? How does this organization/disorganization manifest in their everyday life?

24: Is there one subject of study that they excel at? Or do they even care about intellectual pursuits at all?

25: How do they see themselves 5 years from today?

26: Do they have any plans for the future? Any contingency plans if things don’t workout?

27: What is their biggest regret?

28: Who do they see as their best friend? Their worst enemy?

29: Reaction to sudden extrapersonal disaster (eg The house is on fire! What do they do?)

30: Reaction to sudden intrapersonal disaster (eg close family member suddenly dies)

31: Most prized possession?

32: Thoughts on material possessions in general?

33: Concept of home and family?

34: Thoughts on privacy? (Are they a private person, or are they prone to ‘TMI’?)

35: What activities do they enjoy, but consider to be a waste of time?

36: What makes them feel guilty?

37: Are they more analytical or more emotional in their decision-making?

38: What recharges them when they’re feeling drained?

39: Would you say that they have a superiority-complex? Inferiority-complex? Neither?

40: How misanthropic are they?

41: Hobbies?

42: How far did they get in formal education? What are their views on formal education vs self-education?

43: Religion?

44: Superstitions or views on the occult?

45: Do they express their thoughts through words or deeds?

46: If they were to fall in love, who (or what) is their ideal?

47: How do they express love?

48: If this person were to get into a fist fight, what is their fighting style like?

49: Is this person afraid of dying? Why or why not?

I'm very familiar with that feeling. You know your feelings are incorrect, but that's not enough to make it go away. You just gotta keep hanging on and pushing forward. If you need someone to talk to my messages are open.

Boom, got it right on the head. It's like you're beating yourself into submission until you give in and believe it. You can try to fight against it all you want but they keep coming back until you can't fight it anymore.

Intrusive thoughts are a bitch to handle. I know that one day I'll be much better once I'm actually surrounded by people that care about me, but right now is not that time.

I do much appreciate you reaching out like this. Sometimes just seeing that someone cares, even a stranger, really helps get me through the day.
