I’ve kinda strayed out of fandom in general; I don’t have the mental space rn for all the discourse, but I come back to check on the Arcana tag to about the same amount of discourse (albeit about a different subject) that there was when I left.

aka im wading into a sea of discourse that I probably shouldn’t stick my nose into but I had a couple thoughts. And ya’ll know me. I can’t help myself from sharing.

Muriel is probably my favorite of the secondary 3. (Nadia is still my main Arcana LI though) uwu Muriel is so precious and needs all the love and support he wants. And he deserves the world.

However I do find a guilty pleasure in Lucio’s route, thought I do acknowledge his route is problematic for many reasons. I found it enjoyable, if perhaps lacking in true character development for what I would hope for a *redeemed villain*, and his actual redemption was very questionable at best. (read non existent).

I love villain redemption stories; Zuko from ATLA and Nora of Legends of Tomorrow did it the best imo. That said; this is far from what I would consider a true redemption arc. I think there’s very little atoning Lucio has done (esp for some of the worst things we know he’s done that get glossed over at best, flat out ignored at worst), along with his desire to change (and only certain faucets of his personality) not necessarily for himself, but because of the apprentice. I just don’t think those make for a true redemption arc.

That said, like I said, Lucio is a guilty pleasure as setting aside the problematic nature of some of his writing, I do enjoy his character and interactions with the apprentice.

I thought from the beginning, during the main 3, that writing Lucio’s route was going to be a very hit or miss goal given just how much they pigeon-holed him into the role of a villain with seemingly very little room for him to become a good character. And that what was necessary was likely not going to come from Nyx Hydra’s writers and honestly, it would be a surprising development for them to address all the things they would need to do in order to make him a good character anyway. I think from a redemption arc perspective it was a big ol’ miss. But that doesn’t keep me from enjoying reading through his route (as a casual reader) all the same.

This isn’t a post about Portia but #JusticeForPortia. She deserves so much more than she gets from the fandom as far as I can tell. Her route is hella interesting as far as the story line they chose to go with and I hope more people read it. Lore wise, it’s very compelling to me. Also Portia is just a fun love interest (though I will admit not my favorite)

I've been catching up with the phase 2 love interests during unlimited keys weekends, as well as finishing my Asra and Julian playthroughs and I'm shocked to find out that my favorite route after Nadia is Lucio. (Murial is a close 3rd though)

Onyx Wren - Sin With Me

Okay I wasn’t going to write review posts on Sin with Me but Onyx is maybe one of my favorite love interests ever and I need this.

Okay I could’ve seen this plotline coming, I just didn’t think it would be the S2 (maybe) plotline. I thought they would have waited until later on down the line to kill her, make her turn into probably some sort of bird and have MC have to find a way to turn her back. Like if that is what they end up doing for S2 (and keep in mind I don’t think we 100% know for sure that’s what going to happen, as far as I know, we didn’t actually see her die though it was implied), I’m gunna idk, scream.

Onyx is maybe one of my favorite love interests ever. Jury is still out on Juliette but Onyx is probably #2 after Helena for now though as we get more of Onyx I could easily see her become #1. Getting laid in S1 was not what I expected but given how fast things went between Onyx and MC its not exactly surprising but still, it’s rare to have sex that early in a route (at least I think that’s what happened I was kinda in the middle of a gay panic sesh when it actually happened and might have had a stroke).

She’s just so cute and like... sweet and ugh. Badass as well. Idek I’m still sort of reeling from the whole first season. It was a rollercoaster of feels.

I feel like this storyline of “she’s still my sister” isn’t over and while I don’t really expect Vinca to become good by the end, I do think that somehow there might be another way that doesn’t involve flat out killing her (though I wouldn’t protest if that’s what they ended up doing).

I do feel bad for MC because like.. I’m sure a part of her is going to feel guilty as fuck for running even though Onyx told her to, especially if Onyx does end up dying. Though I’m sure that’s going to be a/the motivator to find a way to turn her back. Idk it’s just so rough after they had finally sorta worked out their issues with Vinca getting in the middle of their relationship and they boned and then Onyx gets captured and probably killed, I’m just like, murder me now.

I’m going to be an anxious mess abt Onyx until this gets resolved. At least I have Zhora and Juliette to tide me over for a bit.

Thank you so much for making the walkthrough for Nadia. I just unlocked the Reversed ending using it (I replayed starting at The Hanged Man and unlocked it after playing The Moon) I wouldn't have known how to do it without the guide and I just wanted to let you know it's appreciated even though I don't really have a Tumblr account. ☺️
