how to start back again
honesty : be honest with yourself. yeah, you wasted a shit ton of time worrying, procrastinating & overthinking without even trying. but you can't change that; it's gone & it's already set to the stone. what you can change is how you live the present.
get a journal : it can be an old diary or just sheets of paper tbh. it doesn't matter where you write. it matters what you write. what you should be writing there is how you're going to get up from the mess that you have been in & the steps that you'll be applying to your life to welcome the new you.
consistency : hola, it's day 1 and you just don't really feel it would be any progess but here's when consistency comes. you check in on day 2 and after a week, you have 7 days of progress. after a month, it forms a habit. after 3 months, it's a part of your daily routine.
take breaks : the last thing you want is a burnout that will tell your brain that the thing you're doing is screwed and you should avoid it. that would lead to procrastination and boom, you're back on your cycle.
start being kinder : we all know you're starting back up again but start being kinder to yourself as well. you deserve the credit to decide to get back up again. you deserve the credit to have trusted the process and believed in yourself. you deserve the new you that you're constructing. you need to love yourself.

how to get yourself out of a study rut ๐Ÿ˜ง๐Ÿ“š
tips for all my dear professional procrastinators ๐Ÿ˜
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay okay now don't get too excited about this ๐Ÿ˜Œ BUT this is the ultimate "get out of study rut" package.
- planning : this is what i did. i snatched the entire syllabus and wrote it down in my planner. i planned out my entire 3 weeks, when to study what. included breaks as well. i filled my entire day with 9 hours of study + exercise + classes + self-care stuff + sleep.
- time limit : you literally can't afford to sit for an entire day with one page of studying to do. that's such a wastage, babe. in a time deficiet, the first thing you need to do to allot a time limit to certain subjects. for example, i spend three hours studying biology and another three hours with dear old physics. if it exceeds three hours, i give up and come back to it later at the end of the day. time is galleons ๐Ÿ’ธ
- distractions & autopilot mode : absolutely no distractions when you sit to study. no reading through with autopilot mode on. i know there are other better ways than reading through but i still do the ancient trick and that's reading, alright? coz you can't just jump into active recall methods without even reading through the chapter and knowing what it is about. while reading, ask and frame questions like you're the teacher.
- timer & techniques : set a timer, kiddo. i study for an hour and then take a 15 min break. work out which study technique works for you best and study accordingly. don't you dare lose your sleep to study ๐Ÿ˜ค sleep is important too! honestly, i always prioritize my health over studies coz if im not feeling good, how on earth can i expect my studying to be good?
- stress : pain is temporary but rewards are forever. i reminded myself how this stress is gonna last for only 3 weeks but the exam results are gonna leave a lasting good impression on me. it will lead to my self-motivation, improve the relationship i have with my teachers and encourage me to do even better next time. you have to realize that this will take a lot of hard work & consistency but do you want a good result? yeah? then go for it. take this challenge as an opportunity to learn new things. yes you pushed it beyond your limits and you're gonna achieve it. you just gotta push harder.
kiddo, you got this. you have me here to help you out with study ruts and holes and what not. i provide you weapons ๐Ÿ˜Œ yes yes im your fairy godmother โ€“ and a very proud one too coz i see your efforts โ€“ but make this your own cindrella story. bring in a twist. shock everyone. just don't give up and lose your glass slipper, alright?

motivation vs. discipline
Tumblr media
doing things you don't wanna do but doing it anyway coz you know it's gonna benefit you is discipline. motivation will dump you the moment you lose interest in it but discipline won't. here are 4 ways that helped me to stay disciplined when i was very unmotivated
1) starting right away : stop waiting for the right time, the right mindset and the right inspiration. you don't have to look for inspiration when you know you have to do what you gotta do anyway. nobody is coming. you'll have to do the work for yourself
2) motivational boost : when you keep on doing what you're supposed to do, no matter how much you dislike it, you'll find motivation waiting for you somewhere which will fuel you to keep going. motivation only follows after work so expecting to find it in the beginning is just another fat chance
3) set the mood : make to-do lists, switch off your phone, start prioritising your needs over your wants and make space for things that will matter. preparing yourself for something sets the brain to work mode
4) consistency is literally the key : here's an example. i was never someone who gave a damn about health and fitness. i was overweight and very unhealthy but i knew i needed to make a change. in july 2021, i decided i needed to start working on myself or else, i would never be able to achieve my body goals and live a healthy lifestyle. now in oct 2021, i have hit my ideal weight and been healthier than ever in my life. it's not only about physical glow-up but also a mental glow-up along with the bonus that my confidence soared higher than ever and my social anxiety was nowhere to be found :)
but was it easier at first in the first few days in july when I had just started working out? no, trust me, it wasn't but I didn't give up which help me achieve my goals.
discipline becomes a habit as you keep on being consistent and remind yourself who you want to become :)
stay safe and happy <3 and follow me to keep yourself updated on more self-growth articles!!

basic steps for self-growth
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(for beginners) ๐ŸŒบ
before i dive into this, i want you to ask yourself what you actually mean by "self-growth" because understanding the definition and meaning is the first step to knowing the concept.
for me, self-growth is internal healing of your mental health which leads to the growth of your physical being as well and this together attract good vibes, thus, enhancing your overall well-being. now to be honest, i was never much of a self growth person until this year when i realized that i needed to move on from the past and focus the energy on myself instead.
self-growth comes with self-realization. when you realize that you've been in a rut for a long time and the choice and strength of getting up from this rut lie in your hands, that's when you start your self-growth journey. it's not a choice anymore when you decide to change your entire lifestyle for the best. it's a lifetime commitment to improving yourself.
if you're new to this "self growth" concept (like how i was in the beginning) but you want to apply it into your life, then you've reached the right post :)
here are a few steps to the basics of self-growth โ˜•
1) find what triggers you ๐ŸŒผ identify what really brings your old self back. for me, thinking about the past made me feel like giving up on improving myself. after you find that out, try to eliminate that from your daily life. if a certain thing brings back sad memories which might successfully lead you back to the old you, get rid of that stuff. you really can't allow self-growth to occur if you don't move on from what triggers you.
2) accept your inner weaknesses but don't let them overpower you ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜ค the thing is you'll always have flaws and that's totally okay but letting them control your life is not the ideal thing. "i know i have tons of weaknesses but i know that im strong enough to let my courage win over them" should be the mentality. with time, this little action would form a habit and you wouldn't have to worry about the weaknesses anymore.
3) make inner changes ๐ŸŒฟ when you have got some real soul-searching activities done, make some small changes. plan your week the night before and wake up an hour early and make your bed, workout and meditate/journal, do whatever you like. start your day with yourself. i never check my phone the moment i wake up. i only do that after a couple of hours when I'm done with my workout, meditation and shower. this is how you prioritize yourself first.
4) treat yourself like a plant ๐ŸŒฑ you don't sow a seed and dig up every few hours to see if the seed has grown or not, do you? you understand that it takes time and you're willing to wait. similarly, self growth is all about time and being patient. you won't see results in a week or a month but you'll eventually see major changes and once you get to identify them, you'll be surprised at how much you've grown.
5) your little habits should influence your major actions ๐Ÿ€ the thing is, you wake up early, make your bed, journal, meditate, workout, clean your home etc but if the small habits that you're doing daily don't influence your major growing process, then they're just habits. these habits are supposed to help you get up to the bigger picture.
for example, you go for an ironed tshirt and a nice pair of jeans for a job interview. what you wear is your little habit that would influence your major action, that is, your job interview. if you have a bad interview and fail to impress anyone, then your outfit is just pointless, isn't it?
6) more results, more growth ๐ŸŒบ the best part of the entire self growth journey is that after you see the results, you become addicted to seeing more growth. and that leads to good habits and lifestyle. you'll realize you don't go back to the old patterns of your unhealthy coping mechanism. instead, you're moving forward to making yourself a better person everyday!
if you're beginner and you're thinking of applying the above mentioned simple healthy habits to kick-start your process, then you might want to continue your ultimate self-growth goals so make sure you follow me, guys and I'll promise to keep you all updated on your individual journeys ๐Ÿ€
take care for now. let me know below if you tried any of my tips and how far you've come! let others support you!! ๐Ÿ“ฃ

how to never forget what you've studied โŒ›
Tumblr media
how to never forget what you've studied ๐ŸŠ i never thought i would be able to write a post like this but i guess if my revision tips are helping me solidify my memory, it should help you all as well!
honestly, i don't study much before tests. if my overall revision is super good and i could write paragraphs on any given topic, I'm good to go. for example, i have this chapter that i haven't revised in a month but i would dive right into it if i was asked to give a surprise test because i remember each and every line out there.
to reach this long term memory stage, here are a few tips i follow everyday before a test so that you can get those marks too!!
- organize, organize, organize ๐Ÿ“š and by that, i just don't mean your study routines and plans. organize your desk, organize your books, organize your mind! you can't study on a messed up table with no space to lay open one book without having it on top of others. you can't study with a mind full of thoughts either.
solution : get a journal and write down all your thoughts. the tiny dots, the bigger bubbles of thoughts, everything. clean your desk every single time you're done studying for the day. i do that the night before so that i can wake up to a tidy desk.
- be extra with everything ๐Ÿ›ธ got a test you wanna smash? hi, revision is the key!!
solution : revise more often than necessary. recall words in the shower. recall dates while eating alone at a table. relate current events and dates with your studying. this proves really effective coz you're keeping in touch with the information you want your brain to digest ๐Ÿง
- plan your hours ๐Ÿ“– got a huge load of studying to do but you feel like twenty-four hours is not enough?
solution : divide your hours. i break my hours into a daily test, anki revision, going through mind maps, writing notes if i got any that day and previewing before classes and believe me, all these take me five to six hours and I'm already halfway done for the day.
- write and rewrite ๐Ÿ˜ค reading and rereading a paragraph but can't seem to memorize it?
solution : write and rewrite and do it all over again until you know it by heart. writing tricks your brain to focus on what you're doing physically than just having to go through what you're reading.
- list of doubtful concepts ๐Ÿ“ƒ nagging doubts keep bothering you when you're revising or studying for a test?
solution : keep a list when you're studying. scribble any unknown or weak concepts that you wouldn't want to go to the examination hall without studying. it's just that when you're studying and you come across a weak concept, it would take you a lot of time to get it over with. however, by writing down the weak concept, you move on with the studying and come back to that concept later on so you're not wasting a great deal of time
๐Ÿ”ฅ pro tip for distractions : the above method can also be used for distractions that bug you when you're studying. write down your distractions on a piece of paper whenever you feel like your brain has wandered off. by doing this, you're putting your distracting thoughts on hold and not just diving straight into it while pretending to study ๐Ÿ˜ฉโœ๏ธ
there you go, guys, 5 tips to never forget what you study! follow me to stay updated on my next post :

Tumblr media
hiya!! ๐Ÿ it's been quite a while since my last post, hasn't it? well, i stand before you with another post as promised earlier. 7 productivity apps that i have never once regretted downloading because why would you uninstall when they have benefitted you so much?!
i have linked the apps to their names so that you can check them out by yourself :)
1. listberry :
the berry on your to-do lists!! ๐Ÿ’ this app allows you to customize your to-do lists and it's actually very easy to type in your tasks or add any remaining tasks for the next day. i actually like this because of the minimalist layout and how it's so easy to use!
2. routinery :
works exactly like a routine of tasks one after another. it has different kinds of routines and even routines followed by famous people ๐ŸŒง๏ธ so i really think it just helps me to do a series of tasks with a time limit and not just waste time doing one task and taking more hours than required.
3. tide :
comes with various white noises, starting from rock rain โ›ˆ๏ธ to penguin babbling at each other ๐Ÿง it has modes like focus, sleep, nap and breathing so you can use it for studying + sleeping + meditation. the thing i really like is how you can combine two different white noises into one.
4. timecap :
could be used for various kinds of tasks, starting from reading to studying โŒ› i mostly use it for studying like dividing my time for going through mind maps, revising old lessons or reviewing what i studied yesterday. it's so effective like it can keep you going as you complete one task after another
5. higher goals
gives accurate analysis towards reaching your goals, whether it's weight loss or just weekly journaling โ›ฐ๏ธ i love the layout and how systematically it works. i think what inspires me about this app is that it constantly reminds you of your goals and desires and helps you get closer to achieving them at every step
6. notion :
organizes everything!! ๐Ÿ“ƒ it's not just a note-taking app anymore for me. i use it for various purposes starting from my health goals, study plans, meal plans, weekly habit tracker, syllabus tracker, storing extra study resources etc. it's so easy to use once you know what you're doing and everything is customisable which makes it even more fun.
7. forest :
more like a study app. everytime you study for 25 minutes or whatever time period you choose, you grow a tree ๐ŸŒฒ you can choose what kind of trees you wanna grow and it's actually got some really cute trees. you can grow trees with your friends if you like a bit of competition. overall, it makes studying real fun!!
๐Ÿค there you go, guys!! 7 productivity apps that i use which can help you too. now, you got my study tips and apps. all you have to do is smash those thick books and get those grades you've always wanted!!

Steps to moving on and loving yourself
Tumblr media
moving on takes time but the best way to get over it as quickly as possible is to focus the energy on yourself. it wasn't so easy but the most challenging part was the thoughts that bugged me. but I realized that's the most challenging it can get. the thoughts. i respect that it is not the same for everyone but just remind yourself that it's temporary and that you'll get over it eventually. find happiness in the little things as getting your laundry done or changing your sheets and the big things would come after that, I promise.
this post is all about how my coping mechanism works like and i think it's very healthy since it makes me feel relaxed instead of stressed. I would really like to remind that moving on doesn't suck actually ๐ŸŒด it's a really beautiful journey towards developing yourself in a way triggered by the consequences.
the grieving ๐Ÿต aka. the most important step. and you should let yourself cry your heart out. seriously though, everytime i feel that familiar gush of painful memories hitting again, i grab a pillow and dive into my bed, trying not to turn into a swimming pool of my own tears. it's just that crying is so important than just hiding your emotions inside, faking a smile. i feel like grieving is healing itself, as i have mentioned in my earlier posts. it just means you're still sad about what life gave you but you know you're gonna get over it.
detoxifying and deleting ๐Ÿ›€ deleting the pictures and contacts is the second step of my coping mechanism. i want to get rid of them right when I'm just getting started so that my mind doesn't change at the end and I don't find myself staring at the pics and remembering all of the memories. remember, blocking someone is also a good way but blocking someone gets the number somehow saved in your phone in your "blocked contacts" list so I don't do that. i wouldn't want their number on my phone at all, whether blocked or unblocked.
give yourself some mental closure ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป cherish the memories. cherish the moments you laughed so hard you had a tummy ache. cherish but also remember that life has more to give. more nights to listen to music with your favourite people. more days to spend at the beach playing with your dog.
the fourth step is to move ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ like, walk, go for a run, work out, make your bed, feed your dog, clean your house etc. sitting in front of the TV with a bag of chips would end you up feeling worse than you can imagine. as soon as you feel the depression hitting you, just move.
the thoughts keep bothering you? the memories? ๐Ÿ™Š it's alright! you can accept them and not try to shut them out coz (1) if u try to shut them out, it's not gonna create a difference. they're gonna come back again, and (2) they're eventually gonna stop. seriously. why waste your energy shutting them out? and it actually takes less time when you don't do anything about them.
which brings me to this. don't do anything about your thoughts. don't do anything about the entire situation except focus on yourself. choose to focus on yourself again and again. it's a constant choice of seeking peace within yourself. okay, you screwed up and who needs to get up again? the other person? the third person? no, baby, it's you. you need to get back up again so focus the energy on yourself ๐Ÿ”‹
the hits of gloominess ๐ŸŒƒ the thing is no matter how well you put up with your situation, you're gonna have your own sad times sometimes and that's completely okay. keeping yourself busy is a healthy coping mechanism but i often feel like repressing myself when i do that. so whenever i feel the grief hitting me again, i let it come out until i realize i haven't been grieving for days aka. moving on. yay!
plan something! ๐Ÿ• the last time i had to move on from someone, i planned a trip with my parents in the hills. i stayed there for three nights. i would go right then if i wanted to but i had a test three days later so i stayed back for three days and on the fourth day, i zoomed away. i had to take my electronics coz of my classes even though i didn't want to. i wanted to have a device-free time but i visualized the fact that me returning back home with a load of homework and assignments to do is only going to make me feel guilty so i have to keep up with my work in order to feel good about myself.
accept that it's over ๐Ÿ let it go and prioritize yourself. you'll feel like coming back to this mud pool again, hoping that you'll find a lotus but you won't. the mud pool is deep and it's only gonna pull you more into the mud. instead, be grateful of the happy moments you had with the person who made your life better and happier. yeah, it didn't work at the end but you did have a good time, right? now it's your time to make your life better and happier without them. it's a process of growth.
call a friend ๐Ÿ“ž i have this amazing friend who i can call whenever i feel like the depression is hitting me. it's impossible to have a serious conversation with her for more than 5 mins coz she makes you laugh so hard lol. but i have also come to realise that you have to eventually face your inner demons and the painful memories. you have to face the nights of perpetual thoughts and feel like it will swallow you. I think facing your inner demons eventually scares those demons away. and it's even better when you intentionally sit down to face your demons. they just can't take your courage anymore ๐Ÿน
feel good about yourself. do all the things you love. learn a new hobby. cook a new meal. bake goodies for your friends who you can always call whenever you want. when i decided to go for the trip, i took my sketchbook and a new novel to read on the way. i had my class notes and text books as well. i was determined to spend a good week and come back home feeling updated on work as well.
spend some alone time. and by that, I don't mean you'll curl up in a corner and mourn. that's not bad either but why would you do that when you can have fun alone? looking for the same kind of treatment or love in other people is seriously not worth it when you can become that person and love yourself to the fullest and do all the things you're passionate about.
forgive yourself. you made a mistake. maybe you didn't turn out like how the other person has expected from you. but you're you. you can't be anyone else but you. and that's perfect. not your problem if the other person expects more from you or different things from you. if you're shy, you're shy. if you hysterically laugh out loud, that's you being you. what's wrong with that? you can't help yourself being you.
disappear for a while. if you are in a position where you can go away without having to care about important things then just do that. log out of social media and just go. if the place where you are brings back memories, then you can take a break and go for a holiday but you have to eventually come back to where you are and face the reality but that doesn't mean you can't do it. you'll just be facing them in a better and clearer way
realization and priorities ๐Ÿฅฅ sometimes it's not the person that is forever but what we learn from them. if you had fun with someone and now it's ended, you're probably gonna have more fun in the future. it's just like a headstart. take the lessons from these people and situations and move on with your life and see how it makes sense to you. everything happens for a good reason, stamp that into your brain! ๐Ÿ’ฎ
it just gets better. you see yourself improving. you notice how all the long workout sessions that you do to get the stress out has resulted into your healthy body and mind.
life will push you apart but if you had done it before, you can do it again. if you haven't done it before, you can learn how to do it again. don't try to bring your old self again. don't try to change anything about you. a new you is already on the way. embrace that you. the new you. the growing you. you'll not have your entire life figured out but all it takes is time and experience :)
i realise that writing about this and helping other people has even given me a clearer path of me moving on. i can see all the things i have done to get to the point where i am in the process of moving on and all the things i would be doing more often. sometimes, helping someone else is yourself moving on :)

10 ways to promote self-growth ๐ŸŒฟ
Tumblr media
hey guys i know i haven't posted anything recently but i haven't been finding the time for it until now ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป i hope you'll are doing greeeaat ๐Ÿ•ด๐Ÿป if you would like to know what I have been doing all week, i have been really busy - so busy that i just realized I haven't been on my social media lately ๐Ÿ˜ณ
lol anyway, i began to realize a few weeks ago that i have been - idk, the right word for it - improving? yes definitely improving and the fact that I realized that I was improving made me even happier, especially when last year had been so rough ๐ŸŽข
I've been glad for all the things that happened to me last year because no matter how sad they made me at that time, it enhanced self-growth eventually and i could see a better me everyday of my life ๐Ÿ :โ€™)
so many lessons came along the way. it would be a selfish to let them just stay with me. so I'm going to share all about it here ๐Ÿค  hoping that it would help someone out there to realize things faster.
1) grieving is healing itself : and you've read that right. it is healing because you're expressing your emotions instead of suppressing them which is unhealthy. when you cry, you become stronger and scientifically, it's good to cry because of the release of endorphins in your body that make you feel good. when you've cried all your tears, it's the peace within yourself that comes eventually. I'm not saying it would come right after crying but it would come eventually, i can assure you that.
2) let go, seriously : i can never emphasize this enough but when you let go of things that drain your energy, you get back your peace. you might not realize it at that moment how drained you feel. as a human nature, you would want to push it further, hoping that it might work but seriously, guys, some things are better when gone ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป
3) brain power : this is the most powerful one. your mind is really so powerful that wherever or whatever you put your focus on, it would grow ๐ŸŒฑ seriously guys. last year, i was focusing on the bad events in my life - the fact that i was being so unproductive and there was a pile of assignments that were due months ago. and since I focused on that, it grew. i felt more depressed and that lead to more gloominess. but when I started to work towards my healing and began to focus on my daily schedule and working out often and taking care of my body and mind, that's what grew and that led to me being more relaxed and feeling good about myself. your energy is so powerful; never let it go to waste ๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ what you tell yourself, you become
4) take a break to prioritise yourself : honestly i take long breaks, like, the moment i feel like a dead sandwich ๐Ÿฅช I disappear. i uninstall my social apps and just focus the energy on my studies and getting all those assignments done. i try to be ahead of classes so that i can be more interactive with teachers. when does the break end? just when i feel ready. seriously, people and friends will understand. nothing is more important than you. ๐Ÿ˜Œ
5) help yourself some more : seriously, love. if you're already helping yourself by exposing yourself to growth, help some more. you will never regret helping yourself. regret never comes when you're loving yourself a little more than yesterday because it always comes with benefits. studying to score the best? spend another hour reviewing. working out to get that body? do some more push-ups. struggling to find your mental peace? journal a few more times a week โ˜• help yourself to be the best person you've ever known.
6) accept change as growth : i know things change so fast and it often comes with some bitterness. the best way to deal with this is to just adjust and accept how it is. make good changes if you can. if you can't, it's alright. our brain has a way to get adjusted to new things ๐Ÿง  notice how an unknown place becomes familiar to you ๐Ÿ—ฝ notice how a stranger becomes your best friend ๐Ÿ‘ฅ changes come with growth. it comes with a lesson ๐ŸŒท sometimes the forever is not the person or the place but what we gain from them
7) fall in love with the little things : happiness is not to be searched for. it's within yourself. it just pops up when it gets triggered. fall in love with looking forward to your day every morning you wake up ๐ŸŒ„ fall in love with the noise of your coffee maker โ˜• fall in love with the rain ๐ŸŒง๏ธ fall in love with the sourness of lemons ๐Ÿ‹ fall in love at how yellow leaves fall in autumn ๐Ÿ‚ fall in love with the little things that will be there in your life tomorrow and for the rest of your life ๐Ÿ small things trigger happiness often because they're so random but oh so nice ๐ŸŒฟ
8) your gut feeling never lies : hush! what's that inner voice telling you about? ๐Ÿคซ is it telling you that the person who promised to be your friend is probably lying to you? the friend who you made several memories with is going to betray you when they find a new friend? it might not be true but it might not be false either. i always remind myself how a coin has two faces. it means, if the bad things can happen, so can the good things and vice versa. everytime my gut says that something is off with someone or whatever, i watch closely and yep, i see the true colours eventually. so just don't ignore your gut feeling ๐Ÿฉ it is your subconscious mind alerting you
9) treat yourself like a lover : how would you treat someone you love? ๐Ÿ’ž of course, you would be caring, understanding and gentle. treat yourself exactly like that. you couldn't pass your exam because you spent the entire month procrastinating. you ate too much than necessary last night with your friends. so what? don't hit yourself for that! work on yourself. "next time, i would keep an eye on what i eat" and "I will study for at least three hours every day for a week" are better approaches than "damn, I need to do 78 pushups as my punishment" and "I give up, I'm worthless, I can't study"
10) normalise moving on : this was the hardest thing that i had to accept because "moving on" is often seen as something bad that you're going through. that's not true. moving on is a part of letting go of certain things and welcoming other things in life. new people will come into your life and make memories with you. just keep the door open and say goodbye to all those who left and welcome the new memories that come with the new friends. in reality, we're always moving on. wasted the day? you can't get those 24 hours back, better be moving on!!
that's all for now, guys. smash the follow button to stay updated on this side of the world!! ๐Ÿงƒ next post coming up ๐Ÿ”œ 7 productivity apps i use ๐Ÿ€

How to never get an educational burnout
Tumblr media
you can be only two types of people for this.
type 1 : you study inconsistently often on alternate days and wait for the sudden surge of motivation so that you can start planning your studies and include everything in a day but end up feeling overwhelmed so ultimately, you don't study for the entire week
type 2 : you study a lot. like you get around 43 pages of homework done, solve math problems for 3 hours straight, hit the library several times a week and study on weekends. so at the end of the week, you're just burnt out like an extinguished candle
either way, it's not a bad thing. certain people have certain ways of hitting the books and as long as it is working for you, you're good.
but if it is messing with your head and you have a pile of assignments that you were supposed to submit a week ago and don't even mention the huge backlog you have . . .
then you need this post ;)
chunky studying ๐ŸงŠ like i know i know you have a lot but do a bit today. don't go for six hours if you're a two hours person. break down your studying according to the pomodoro technique ๐Ÿ…โœ…
make a daily plan based on hours and not on how much you have to study ๐Ÿงบ so effective like what, bro, I have been doing that for a month and I've never felt more productive ๐Ÿ•  it's basically like you plan to study a subject for an hour and then another subject for the next two hours, depending on how long they take. it helps because you just don't end up including everything in the 24 hours you have.
studying 19 hours โ‰  productive day โณ a productive day is you waking up early, making your bed ๐Ÿ›Œ๐Ÿป, working out ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ, meditating ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ, making a healthy breakfast ๐Ÿณ (and not just the leftover pizza you had last night ok) and writing down your goals for the day ๐Ÿ”–and getting some studying done ๐Ÿ“š, doing your assignments ๐Ÿ“, your daily chores ๐Ÿงฆ etc.
healthy distraction exists ๐Ÿซ include your household chores as study breaks ๐Ÿงฝ๐Ÿ‘• like, if you have done an hour of studying, go clean your room or your desk ๐Ÿงน in that way, you'll be having a break + getting some other work done as well and your mind wouldn't be left back on your books
go for a walk ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ or just meditate for a couple of minutes ๐Ÿงธ if you don't want to include chores as study breaks. i meditate during study breaks and i feel so energized ๐Ÿ“ˆ also, stay hydrated. sometimes, you just need water to go on ๐Ÿฅค
i hope this helps :) drop a message anytime if you have to ask anything โœ‹๐Ÿป i would also love to take suggestions on what to post next ๐Ÿท๏ธ

what i do for revising lessons
Tumblr media
flashcards ๐ŸŽด๐Ÿƒ summarise your topics into little flashcards which you can review first thing in the morning (i use Anki for Biology since it comes with some really useful add-ons โž• you can also use AnkiDroid for androids if you don't have/want to use a laptop)
consistent studying ๐Ÿ“š study a little everyday and don't miss any days when you won't be studying at all ๐Ÿค• when you don't study for a day, you're more likely to lessen the hours you study for the next day as well ๐Ÿ˜ณ this breaks the daily "streaks" of your brain ๐Ÿง  from developing studies as a daily habit
make friends with all the study material and topics ๐Ÿค๐Ÿป what do you do when you make a new friend? you try to get to know them better. you spend time with them. you ask about them. similarly, try to get to know your study topics a little more than required ๐ŸŒ spend a few more hours with them ๐Ÿ˜ and ask questions "so lemme get this straight, fella, you're telling me that 78 is the answer? where did you get that from?" ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ communicate with your books
make knowledge clouds โ˜๏ธ for math, physics or calculus, gather a few loose sheets where you can scribble down formulae or quick new theories regarding the topic. for example, you're doing a chapter of electrostatics but you suddenly hit upon a new formulae that is totally unrelated to your topic but you know it's gonna be helpful for the chapter then jot it down ๐Ÿ“
Tumblr media
if you have too many subjects and too many theories to remember, buy a thick notebook and make that your bestie. your very own bestie. i have a book like that and named it "Pre-Medical Book of Essentials" and I have been including all of my knowledge cloud sheets and formulae in there
practice past question papers and don't be scared of making mistakes ๐Ÿ“Ž๐Ÿ“ƒ you'll understand your study topics more if you expose yourself to more problematic questions that require your brain to use all of its energy ๐Ÿง
"but the question is NOT coming in the exam..." ๐Ÿ˜ฆ does the question have information that can help you in the long run? does it deepen your concepts? are you studying because you have exams or you want to widen your knowledge? ๐Ÿงข of course, if your syllabus is limited, then you can skip the question
remember, revising is not just keeping the book open in front of you and then rereading from the very start ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ it's about knowing your material more, going deeper into concepts and remembering the information ๐Ÿท๏ธ
here's a motivational podcast that helps me to get out of bed every morning ๐Ÿ‚

stash of freshly picked study tips i made ~
Tumblr media
just to keep a track of my study tips coz there are way too many for me to remember lol
:: advice
โ€ข to-do lists ๐Ÿ“‹
โ€ข detailed weekly study plans (emmastudies printables) ๐Ÿ“Ž
โ€ข don't include too many things in a day; do a little everyday !! ๐Ÿท๏ธ
โ€ข motivation podcasts to keep you going when your spotify playlists run out ๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ”ฅ
โ€ข planning by portions โณ(find how many pages you can get done in an hour and then calculate how many hours the entire chapter would take) study accordingly
โ€ข pomodoro technique โœ…๐Ÿ… aim for more than 25 mins while dealing with the first task coz that's when you're mostly productive after adequate sleep (i usually go for 85 mins and break down to 35 mins using the Forest app)
:: mentality
โ€ข break up with motivation ๐Ÿ”จ go date self-discipline. motivation is inconsistent and the lack of it won't get you out of bed but discipline will
โ€ข do whatever to make your day a little better ๐Ÿณ make some dumplings, meditation, naps, exercise, gardening, changing your sheets, cuddling with your pet, helping your mum with cooking, talking to your dad when he's alone etc
โ€ข little things = takes less time && gives more pleasure ๐Ÿงบ๐Ÿงฆ changing your sheets, dumping all of your closet into the laundry basket and add a little more laundry detergent, wrapping yourself in your favourite blanket, washing your hair & green tea? yes please ๐Ÿต๐ŸŒฟ
โ€ข log out of social media ๐Ÿ“ต turn off your wifi ๐Ÿ“ถ clear your phone from all addicting apps ๐Ÿ“ด trust me, uninstalling helps
โ€ข set goals, baby ๐Ÿฅ… real goals. not goals like "I'll get into Yale". these are long term goals. these are eventually where you'll end up. set short term brisk goals like "complete electrostatics 6/55 pages today". don't push too hard than you can.
:: things to avoid
โ€ข auto-pilot or robot mode ๐Ÿค– highlighting and rereading will switch your brain to auto pilot mode ๐Ÿ›ฉ๏ธ say hi to active recall and practice testing โ›ณ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
โ€ข little pesky voice in your head ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "bro, organic chemistry is so tough", "where tf did this 34 come from?", "you should have chosen something else" no, say no. im not stuck. so what, if my friends did better on the test and my parents compare me to the neighbour's kid? remember you're making your own future. neither your parents' nor friends'. the responsibility is in your hands.
โ€ข educational burnout ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธbro, you're not a machine. you're not supposed to live your life like that and stop working so hard. go out with your friends, have an art day, watch a movie and sleep in late.
โ€ข procrastination & laziness ๐Ÿ•ค 9 pm, really? wasn't it just 8 am a minute ago? โณ๐Ÿ”จ no, don't do that
set a timer for 25 mins, get to work. the hardest part is getting started. you got this. you got a goal to work for. embrace work and say bye to procrastination.
happy studying, smash those books!
