The obvious solution is to noodle incident it. Danny’s not paying attention to the riddle and only hears his companion say “rutabaga” or “cheese danish” or something else that would be weird as a riddle solution.
Original Danny Malfoy anon here! Draco takes after the Malfoy side of the family, but we all forget that Narcissa is a Black, Sirius being her cousin. In my personal headcanon for this universe, Danny very, very solidly gets his temperament and looks from the Black side of the family. Sirius wasn't the only name burned out on the Black family tree, so I could easily see Danny being a Griffindor-brand Black just like Sirius lol. I'm also imagining how devastated Danny was at the name change lol.
2/3 Also, I kind of find the idea of Danny trying to explain muggle things to Draco kind of funny, because I think Draco *would* try to keep the snide comments to himself a bit because he really wants Danny to like him, but he just. Does Not Understand what Danny’s talking about when he starts talking about NASA/videogames/whatever. I think Danny could be the cause of some serious family friction too, especially if Lucius hates/is awkward and Narcissa adores/is sad around Danny.
3/3 I think Danny may have a spat or two with Draco, but he would try to encourage and bring the best out of him because he knows how to maintain a healthy familial bond and Draco… doesn’t. Draco is a people-pleaser when it comes to family honestly, so being torn between wanting to please his father and wanting to keep Danny in his life could lead to some serious self-reflection. Add in that his folks are in Voldemort’s inner circle, and you’ve got a recipe for some serious self-conflict.

Ooh, I like it, Anon! It offers great contrast between the two brothers that way. And, well, Danny explaining muggle things to Draco would be hilarious, because there would be this instinctual insistence that wizards are better than muggles balanced with the fact that Draco has to admit some muggle inventions/accomplishments are worth his admiration and respect. Upon finding out how much Danny likes space, Draco can teach him some of the common constellations in the wizarding world, because even if he doesn’t understand most of what Danny’s talking about when he talks about space, Draco does understand that much.
Ah, self-conflict. Delicious. *grins* But, yes, Danny would definitely be the one trying to smooth things over and essentially help to teach Draco how to be a better person without realizing that’s what he’s doing.
Of course, there’s always the question of Phantom. Accidental magic will only explain so much, and before Draco figures it out, well, that could be another potential wedge between Danny and his birth family because they might be blood but they’re strangers. (Danny’s terrible lies will not hold up very well in a family that has made lying an art, and Draco might be more willing to confront Danny to see if he has any information about something weird that happened than their parents, who might underestimate Danny because of his muggle upbringing.) Danny’s run into magic with ghosts before, and once he runs into ghosts there, he’ll know that Phantom isn’t wholly a product of his magic, even if that magic played a part in his survival and the subsequent existence of Phantom. Admittedly, though, I’m also imagining how different magical wards and such would affect Phantom, not being the sort of thing they tend to keep out, since if Danny can’t seem to listen at the door, well, he can always listen from the floor or the ceiling….

Hello, yes, I’m speaking to you from two years in the future to tell you that you’re wrong.
Danny is 110% a Ravenclaw. The boy wants to be an astronaut, his favorite class is science and he’s actually solidly handy with Fentonworks Ectotech. The only reason he has bad grades is because he’s constantly ditching class and losing sleep fighting ghosts. Danny is a nerd and arguably defines himself based on those interests. Sure he’s also brave and loyal, but he’s from a family of nerds and he’s a nerd to the core.

“You should relax more. It’s not that there’s nothing coming to get you, there’s everything coming to get you…but relax anyway, just on principle.
Lie down, and look up at the ceiling and breathe with those curiously fragile lungs of yours and remind yourself: Don’t worry. Don’t worry. All is as it was meant to be. It was meant to be lonely and terrifying and unfair and fleeting. Don’t worry.”

Technically that’s a reverse pyramid scheme, since pyramid schemes are about building ever more bottom layers to funnel resources to the top. This is a trickle down economy except it actually works because the resource rich are willing to share.

That’s interesting because the version I read, while similar, had it so they just didn’t think to prepare another set of fancy placements because Maleficent was such a hikikomori that everyone thought she was dead because no one had seen her in so long, and they still did give her fine china dishes and crystal glasses, just not gold dishes and jewel encrusted goblets.

# I am looking for an AU
Specifically a Welcome to Nightvale!Hogwarts AU.
Not this one, which I love, but a different one where Cecil has a Wizarding Wireless show.
Specifically one where he says this during Book 5:
Perhaps our group shall be unlike a metaphorical body. But this humble broadcaster doubts it. We are a student body, and in any body, there’s always an asshole.
Beware the asshole my dear fellows, for she shall ruin all our efforts. And we are a strange body, potentially full of assholes. In conclusion, beware of bathroom floors and remember your noseplugs.
It’s been sitting in my quotes page for years but I can’t find the source for the life of me. Send help.

Okay but The High Geologist would make an excellent Centaur Shaman. Just inexplicably vibing with the moletaurs despite following literally zero holetaur laws. Naming types of rock with Comfortable Doug.
Do you know the animated musical centaurworld? Because everytime I see your character I think of how much they'd fit in it.
You mean like this?

I think science fiction should have more tech that barely works. Think about the modern advancements we have; 3D printers that fail when the nozzle gets a little too hot or too cold, wireless connections to the sum of all human knowledge that fail because someone is standing too close to a box in the corner of the room. Now apply that to faster-than-light travel, teleportation, “replicators”, etc.
Basically I think if you ask Scotty how the warp drive on the Enterprise works, he should say “It doesn’t. This ship moves faster than light because of my willpower.”

Hope you don’t mind me appending my peer review approval of your excellent tags to a slightly different descendant of the post @queers4years
Why do they call tumblr the hellsite? I am fairly new here (3 years) and i feel more at home on Tumblr than any other social media I've ever used.
It used to be way worse. The porn ban and the superwholock diaspora got most of the horribly toxic users to leave for the greener pastures of TikTok and Twitter. Nowadays Tumblr is controlled by a loosr federation of transgender twenty something's with graduate degrees, and the wizard council.

31. But, like, a soft 31. There were a couple I checked but couldn’t really remember the context and a couple I didn’t check that sparked vague memories.

For future reference, it’s from this post:
Rootin', tootin', toil n' shootin'
Fire burn and cowboy bootin'
Eye of newt and spicy beans,
Toe of frog and denim jeans,
Whiskey, grits, n' demon spittle
tossed into my iron griddle
With the tannin' of our hides,
Somethin' wicked this way rides

ngl i don’t understand economically how witches can deal in firstborns. like yeah they’re gaining future apprentices and whatever parent is willing to sell their child for a spell is probably a shit person, but economically it’s a net loss for the witch. you have to spend money on a kid, time on raising and teaching them. is the gain from non-kid sales just steep enough that it covers the new humans? what if the little human grows into a big human that doesn’t even like magic???? what then??
