Perfect Chemistry - Simone Elkeles
Tumblr media
"Perfect" Brittany Ellis meets Latino Bad Boy Alejandro Sanchez. On Brittany's first day of senior year she is so excited for chemistry class, because she thinks that she'll work together with her All-American Boyfriend. Those dreams are quickly shattered when it is announced that she has to work with gang-member Alex for the rest of the year. Is it the chemistry project that's perfect or is there some perfect chemistry between Alex and Brittany after all?
YOU GUYS!!! I'm so glad I get to review this!! This is BY FAR one of the best books I've recently read. I loved everything. Just everything. And it was so unexpected to me, because usually books with covers like these don't have content that good. Never judge a book by a cover, they say, huh?
Let's start with the different tropes that this book has: There's a bet involved, haters-to-lovers relationship, forbidden relationship, being in love with 2 boys at the same time AND SO MUCH MORE!!
I have to say that Brittany could be annoying from time to time but it just fit. I can't explain it but it was just perfect. The stuck-up, kind of annoying girl with the cool, funny boy. Just amazing.
I loved the plot twists, the dangerous aspects, LIKE THE FLAVOUR THAT THIS BOOK BRINGS!!
I am just at loss of words, and don't have anything more to say. I loved every single aspect about it, although it was a little bit cliché.
I recommend this book to readers who like Hardin Scott & Tessa Brooks from Anna Todd's After Series, people who like Jess Mariano & Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls (TV Show), or someone who wants to get into reading.
Truly amazing and most definitely entertaining!! 5/5 Stars!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dirty Letters - Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward
Tumblr media
Dirty Letters tells the story of Luca Vinetti and Griffin Quinn - Childhood penpals and best friends, who re-connect 8 years after breaking contact.
Generally, I enjoyed reading this book. it reminded me of the books that started me getting into reading: Entertaining and quick. However, it was not extraordinary.
I liked the characters, and especially, the contrast of the characters. I think the dual-perspective also gave a nice insight and it fits good into the book.
I loved the plot in general, and it included very surprising plot twists, which I loved. Although, I have to say that there were about 75 pages that were quite boring to read because nothing exciting happened. It didn't bother me that much, because it made the plot twists even better, but it did knock half a star off for me.
It was an enjoyable read tho, and I recommend it for readers who'd just like to read something light... but spicy... but including romance and passion.

The Mister - E.L James
Tumblr media
The Mister follows the British hottie, Maxim Trevelyan, through a breath-taking journey. From losing his brother, to inheriting a royal title, to meeting the Albanian beauty, Alessia Demachi. Does his gorgeous housemaid, who is an undocumented immigrant, have darker secrets than it seems? All of this you will find out when reading The Mister by E.L James.
I have to say, that in the beginning to middle I was really hooked. I liked the concept of it, the plot twists were immaculate, etc... However, throughout the middle to the end, I think it just became unnecessarily long and the plot didn't develop in an entertaining way, but to be fair, I am a teenager, and this is an Adult-Fiction book. So, maybe it is just a question of what someone's taste is. It just wasn't something for me.
Although I liked the characters, I think they did lack some depth. The book focused mainly on the plot, which I don't mind, but I'd expect to get to know the characters better and better. Although I got to know the pasts of the protagonists, I would not be able to describe their personalities if anyone asked me to.
To conclude, in my opinion it was an alright book, but I had higher expectations that it just couldn't reach.

Never Have I Ever
Tumblr media
Never have I ever is a coming-of-age comedy drama series, that follows the very complicated life of a first-generation Indian-American teenager: Devi. So far, there are 2 seasons.
*Sigh* Where should I start? I really liked the idea of making a Netflix show about a foreign teenage girl and being an inclusive show overall. However, the main character just makes me shake my head at least once an episode. The other main female teenagers are also generally "cringey". However, there are also characters that made the show enjoyable to watch, such as cousin Kamala, the mother, Paxton, and Aneesa. So, it is not that bad, really.
What I liked about this show is that the episodes are quite short and it is a perfect binge-watch series for when you don't know what to watch. You can tell that the target audience is very young, but it is still an, overall, fun watch. Cliche, but fun.
OH!! I also LOVED that Gigi Hadid narrated one of the episodes. I admire Gigi's work in general, but I also really liked her as an alternative narrator. Therefore, I genuinely hope that she will narrate more episodes in the future.
I have got to say that I did like the second season better than the first, because in my opinion it had better plots and plot twists. However, something, I think, was lacking a bit in the second season, especially compared to the first one, was the Indian background. I really missed it, since I enjoyed seeing the culture and the character's relationship to it in the first season.
Buuuuuuuut... watching the show was a nice way to pass time, and I would definitely watch another season, if there is one coming.
I'd recommend it to younger people, people who just don't know what to watch, but feel like watching something, or just anyone who enjoys watching Netflix Original coming-of-age series.

The Purge: Anarchy
Tumblr media
Imagine a world where the government sanctions an annual 12-hour time period where all crimes are completely legal (including murder) - that is the Purge.
This is the 2nd film of the series, however, it is not a necessity to have watched the first one.
Personally, I have only watched the first movie a while ago, and I thought it was alright. It didn't sweep me off my feet, but it was watchable and enjoyable. It just wasn't really what I had expected it to be - and neither was this one.
Now, don't get me wrong. The movies are quite good, but I did expect more jump scares and scary moments. The Purge: Anarchy was in general pretty predictable, which took away from the thriller/horror moment. There were, of course, some plot twists that were unexpected, but generally...
However, I do believe that the scariest part of the Purge movies is not that they're not as scary per se, but that the concept is not that unrealistic.
Some of the characters in this movie were also quite annoying, but then again... they're in a very critical and scary situation, so who can really blame them?
Overall, I did think that it was an entertaining movie. Did it scare me? No. Did it feel like an (almost) 2-hour movie? Gladly not. Did I like the characters? Not really, but the plot is very interesting, and therefore, I would watch the other movies as well.
I wouldn't call it the best movie of all time, but it was nice and felt much shorter than it was. It's a good, but an average, movie.

Too Hot To Handle
Tumblr media
Too Hot To Handle is a Netflix Original reality show. A group of young and flaming hot people who are single and ready to mingle are being gathered in a beautiful setting. What they don't know, is that they won't mingle at all, and hopefully, won't be single by the end. It is prohibited to have any intimate actions, whether it is with oneself or another person. Would one break the rules, their 100,000 USD grand prize, will be decreased.
So far there are 2 seasons of this reality show, and I have to say, that I loved both of them and found them really entertaining. I really like the whole point of the show - sexual intimacy isn't as important as having an actual connection with your partner. I also loved both of the casts and enjoyed seeing their developments a lot.
This show can be a cringe at some points, but since it is a reality show, I think that it runs with the territory. I wasn't surprised about it and it gave me a good laugh. Thus, I wouldn't necessarily see it as a negative aspect of the show, personally.
I wouldn't count this as my favourite reality show, but I still binge-watched it for one reason: It is so entertaining!! Therefore, I do recommend it, although, there is a risk for second-hand embarrassment.

Gossip Girl
Tumblr media
Gossip Girl is a teen drama television series following the privileged lives of upper-class teenagers on the upper east side of New York City. It consists of 6 seasons (121 episodes), including many shocking moments and plot twists.
These plot twists and shocking moments are something I really love with this show. Anything may take a 360 turn within seconds. However, the negative aspect of this is that there are some plot holes, which just don't make sense. This doesn't happen often tho and it is very subtle, therefore, it doesn't necessarily bother me extremely, but it is a weakness of the show.
The characters in this show are also amazing and the relationships they have with each other - whether it is a romantic, antagonistic, friendly, or familiar one - are really interesting to watch. I can really relate, and see myself in, one of the main characters, which is something that I prefer when I watch shows. It helps me connect with the show and the characters, and it's definitely a bonus point.
The series overall is way too long to go through and give my opinion on in-detail, without giving away spoilers, but I will say that this is one of my all-time favourite shows, I get never tired of rewatching it, and I totally recommend it!! However, there are a few scenes and episodes that may be inappropriate or triggering to some, so I'd recommend informing yourselves about that beforehand. Buuuuuuut... it is amazing, and totally worth the 85 hours of footage and content!

A Simple Favor
Tumblr media
A simple favor is a comedy crime thriller movie featuring the gorgeous Blake Lively as Emily Nelson and the adorable Anna Kendrick as Stephanie Smothers.
Stephanie Smothers is a single mother who holds a vlog about all possible things, but especially about keeping a household. Stephanie and Emily meet an afternoon and confess their dark secrets about each other over a Martini.
Eventually, Emily's and Stephanie's sons become friends, and Stephanie babysitting Emily's son becomes a common thing.
However, all of the sudden, Emily does not answer Stephanie's phone calls anymore, and everything starts to become very suspicious, mysterious, and weird. What is happening???
I really liked this movie, it was very interesting, and the plot twist came very unexpectedly, which is something I really enjoy regarding movies. I also really liked the cast and the characters, I think the cast embodied the characters really well, and the characters were perfect though out for the plot.
Other than that, I cannot really say much, without spoiling the movie, but overall, I really liked it and thought that it was a nice movie.

The Boy Next Door
Tumblr media
The Boy Next Door is a erotical psychological thriller movie featuring J-Lo as Claire Peterson. Claire Peterson is a teacher who is recently separated from her husband. Everything is going very well, there even is a 19-year old boy who just moved in next door!! Or is that maybe where things start to become sketchy?
I have the feeling like I have been saying this for all my reviews recently, but I just loved this movie! It caught my attention from the start and not once did I get bored.
I really liked the general plot, the plot lines, and the way the characters were created. It all went very well together and formed a thrilling (😉) watching experience.
As a person who doesn't watch thrillers too often and gets scared very easily, I wouldn't say that it is that scary to watch, but rather a but uncomforting at times, but that is exactly what I expected! However, the movie is rated for ages 16+, so keep that in mind, if you'd also would like to watch it (which I really recommend if you want something suspenseful, exciting, thrilling, and emotional)
Overall, I have to say I loved this movie, although it was kind of hard to watch at times since I am literally a chicken.

Daughter of the Pirate King - Tricia Levenseller
Tumblr media
Daughter of the Pirate King is a Young Adult, historical fantasy, romance novel, that is the first part of a duology. It follows Pirate Princess Alosa on a mission, but so much unexpected is coming...
I really enjoyed this book, although it was a bit out of my comfort zone - it is not my usual type of book. But, OH MY, I don't regret reading it!!
I loved the writing style in this. I could definitely tell that it is written for a rather young audience, which is fair as it is a young adult book, however, it wasn't childish at all by any means! The reading went by very fast and was very fluent, quick, and exciting because of the writing style, which I really enjoyed. Maybe Levenseller will become my new Young-Adult favourite author? 🤔Well, we'll see! 😉
I also really enjoyed the characters. And I mean, like, ALL OF THEM! My favourites were definitely Princess Alosa and Riden. However, I also really liked the way Tricia Levenseller created the rather evil characters. Although they were horrible people, they were still very cool characters, and nothing was ever cringey in my opinion, which is definitely a positive thing!
Some other things that I loved about this book, was the woman empowerment, the story plotline in general, and the whole mood of the book.
I definitely recommend this book if you're a Pirates of the Caribbean fan, or just want to try something new!!

The Selection
Tumblr media
Jokes aside, I think that this is ung-adult, romance novel that follows through beautiful America Singer's journey through a life-turning event: The selection. America Singer is one out of 35 girls who get to fight for Prince Maxon's heart. How far will America come?
Okay... let's just start off by saying that I LOVED this book. Like... WOW!! It got me hooked, pretty much, from the start, and I just could not close the book! The whole setting is just gorgeous, the main characters are lovely, the different tropes that this book includes... AMAZING.
Anyways, let's talk about the setting. In Illeá, the country the book is based in, they have a caste system, and poverty is a common topic, theme, and issue that is mentioned in this book. I personally liked it, because, in contrast with all the glamour, royalty, and luxury, there is still this darker and deeper background that comes with certain characters, which, in my opinion, avoided the book from being shallow and also brought more depth into it.
As this is a young adult book, the writing is very fluent, exciting, and fun to read. It made it much more enjoyable. AND THE PLOT TWISTS... Oh.My.Gosh!
I also really enjoyed the relationship between Prince Maxon and America Singer. Absolutely beautiful and charming. I may or may not almost have fallen in love with Prince Maxon myself while reading... hahaha.
Jokes aside, I think that this is an incredible novel written by Kiera Cass, and I definitely recommend it to EVERYONE!!!

It Ends With Us - Colleen Hoover
Tumblr media
In It Ends With Us, the reader gets to follow Lily Bloom's life and the occurrences she meets. Lily has had a rough youth and moved to Boston as soon as she was finished college. There she meets a mysterious man - Ryle Kincaid... but there is also an unexpected someone from the past.
Let's start off by saying: The more I read, the more it broke my heart. Colleen Hoover did it again!! She broke my heart in the best way possible.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book, although it didn't completely catch me in the beginning, from middle until end it was an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. However, the build-up part of the story was very long, which I personally don't prefer. Yet, it still built a very personal relationship between the reader and the characters, which makes the loooong start worth to get through as well.
Another thing, that bothered me a bit was the chapter lengths. I prefer short and many chapters over long and little chapters, especially if nothing special is happening. It just made me feel like the book was way longer than it actually was, which I don't really like.
However, one thing I loved about this book as the way it talks about the problem of domestic violence against women. It was really eye-opening and touching.
Also... One name: Atlas!! <3333 I LOVED him!!
Overall, it was an alright book, however I think I expected a little bit more because I've only heard good about it and my expectations were so high, due to the other book of Colleen Hoover that I've read ("Hopeless" -> Check out my review!!). Although, it had its flaws, I am glad I read it and it was still enjoyable and very well written.
3.5/5 Stars!!

She's The Man
Tumblr media
Another early 2000's RomCom movie that I am reviewing... 🤩This movie follows twin sister Viola who loves to play soccer more than anything! ⚽When the girl's soccer team at her school gets cut, and she isn't allowed to play with the boys, Viola has to find a solution in order to be able to play soccer again. 🤔What a coincidence that her twin brother, who attends the rivalry school, is going to be in London for 2 weeks... or will he? 😉
I really enjoyed watching this movie, to be honest. It was a very typical early 2000's RomCom movie with a Teenage audience, but it was just really entertaining. 😍A couple unexpected events also happened, which I love in movies - It just makes it so much more exciting!! 🙆‍♀️I liked the general plot of the movie as well, and the characters were also cool - very stereotypical, but still pretty cool. 🎭
The only thing that I could say bothered me a little bit, is that it took a bit until it actually got exciting. When watching movies, I don't have that good of an attention span. So, if it doesn't start out good, the chance that I will continue watching with motivation is pretty small. However, in this movie, it wasn't that bad. But if I really had to nitpick, it would be that. 🤷‍♀️
Overall, I thought it was a really cute movie, and I don't really have anything left to say. If you haven't already, go watch it! It's definitely worth it. 😼

Ginny & Georgia
Tumblr media
Ginny & Georgia is a Netflix Originals comedy-drama series, which follows the 30-year old mother Georgia and the 15-year old Ginny through their fresh start in Massachusetts, in a town called Wellsbury.
This show mainly caught my attention through the social media app TikTok, and let me tell you... I have a lot to say about this series. Let's start with what I don't like...
1.) Hunter. I don't what it was exactly, but his character just truly annoyed me and made me cringe A LOT. Every time a scene that included him came, the urge to skip it was very intense, which just made the show kind of less enjoyable to watch.
2.) Ginny's Character "Development". In the beginning, I didn't really mind Ginny as a main character, but the more I watched, the worse she got, it came to the point where I actually yelled at the screen because she was just such a horrible character in my opinion. However, whoever created her, did have some background-thoughts about her and her behaviour, which I will get to later on.
3.) The way the producers decided to record the show - Like, the angles, aesthetic, mood, etc. It was just sort of "cringey" in a way, and made a lot of problems that were represented in the show seem very light-hearted. However, it is a family-drama series, so what to expect? Overall, it wasn't something that majorly bothered me, but it was hard to take the show serious due to all of these factors.
Now... let's move onto the things I liked about this show.
1.) The side characters (and Georgia). They honestly made the show enjoyable, without them it would've been a COMPLETE disaster. Georgia's kind of dark background, gave a very interesting touch to the light-hearted tone of the show. I really liked that. The other side characters such as the twins next-door, Paul, and Joe really added something as well, as they were the only characters I really liked (apart from Georgia), which I find important when watching a show.
2.) The moral messages behind the episodes. There were several Global-issues that were addressed in the show, which I liked, because it gave a purpose to the episodes in my opinion. For example, it touched upon teenage-birth, birth-control, self-harm, bullying, and racism. It is important to talk about these topics in order to understand them, in order to help. This show definitely spread awareness. This is also where I wanted to talk about Ginny again. Although, she became an obnoxious teenager who just HAS to see everything negatively, by seeing her, it gives an insight to the issues she faces. Now, the producers chose to spread awareness of these topics in a very obvious, non-hidden way, but since I'm guessing that the target-audience is younger teenagers/pre-teens it is only appropriate.
3.) Georgia's flashbacks. Georgia has a very dark history in a way, which she now conceals. The flashbacks just gave so much more to the show and it was really interesting as it created an effect of the viewer knowing more than some of the characters. As I said, I thought it was really interesting and again, it sometimes touched upon even more global issues.
In conclusion, I would recommend this show to you if you have no clue what you should watch, and you just want to pass time. I wouldn't consider it an amazing show, but I wouldn't consider it a really bad show either. It's definitely cringe at some points, but it is still entertaining to watch.

10 Things I Hate About You
Tumblr media
10 Things I Hate About You is a 1999 RomCom. It is about two sisters 👯‍♀️- One every boy wants to date 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨, and one people are whether intimidated by 😨- Bianca and Kat. While Bianca wants to live the American Dream life 🤩, Kat is not very much interested in that 😒. They have a very strict father🤵, who does not like the idea of his daughters going out 🥳, therefore, he creates the rule that if Kat is not going out, Bianca can't either. 🤷And so the drama begins...
I am aware that this is a rather older movie 🎥and most people have probably already seen it, but if there is someone who has not: WATCH IT! I thought it was a really fun and cute movie, however, I am also a sucker for 90's/early 2000's romances. 😅
I really don't have anything to criticise this movie on, really. I loved the soundtrack - fit perfectly. 🎶I loved the setting. 🌇Loved the main characters (especially Kat 😼). Loved the storyline. Time flew away when watching it 😱. It was just truly amazing and got me hooked from the start!! 😍
This all means, however, that this won't be a long review at all, because I just don't have anything negative to say. 😊

Cobra Kai
Tumblr media
Cobra Kai is a comedy-drama series based on the 1984-1989 Karate Kid movies. 🥋It combines the old movies together with a new twist and plot, and everything starts with Johnny Lawrence re-opening the karate dojo Cobra Kai. 🐍This leads to a lot of different events, which I won't spoil here, in case somebody wants to watch this show (which you should!!) 😉
At first I wasn't quite sure whether this show would be something for me or not, but I must say, I got sooo drawn into it immediately. 🤩Although, I must warn some that it does have a lot of fighting 🤕scenes in it (it is after all a show about a martial art sport 😹), so for anyone who is sensitive to that, this might not be the best show to watch. However, personally, I didn't really mind and found all of it totally amazing!! 😍
I also liked how the show included something for everyone. It has comedy in it 😆, it has romance in it 💏(of teenagers and parents) 😉, it has drama 😲, it has action 😱, it has emotional scenes 🥺, it just has everything someone could ask for. Loved the mixture! Oh, and also, let's not even get me started on the super cool 80's rock music, which just completely set the right vibe throughout the whole show. 🎸
What I liked most about this show is the way it has a lot of important moral messages that just MADE SENSE 👏. It sort of had an eye-opening and motivating effect on me which I liked... no, correction: Which I loved!! 🥰
It really showed that if someone really wants to achieve something, it is possible! ... And that you should never give up... and that you are so much stronger than what you may think you are. It was really inspiring. 🤔
The only thing I that I can criticise about this show, really, is that it was a little bit predicting at some points, which kind of sucked the fun out it. However, that is just a minor point, which I didn't really mind. Like, it wasn't too bad, and for the majority, it was quite unpredictable, as most people (including me) prefer. 🤷‍♀️
Anyways, to finish this off, I just want to recommend everyone to watch Cobra Kai. 💻It is rated to be a "14 and up" show, and I think it is appropriate for all ages above that - It isn't just a silly kids show. 🙄Younger watchers get a sense about how the Karate Kid movies were/are, and for older watchers, this has purely nostalgic elements to it. 🤩It's really worth it, to be honest!! 👍
4/5 Stars!!

Die Welle (The wave)
Tumblr media
Die Welle (The wave) is a movie based on true events, where a teacher 🧑‍🏫is supposed to teach a class about the autocratic state. This quickly gets out of hand when the class forms into a small “nation” similar to the old N*zi-Germany. How will this all go? 🤔That, you will have to find out yourself when watching the almost 2 hour movie. 😉
This is quite a well-known movie 🎥, however, I never really watched it because I thought it would be another boring educational movie like we typically watch in school. 🙄But no no... this movie was so interesting!! 🤯It didn’t feel educational, although, it was. It felt like a normal entertaining film, which I loved. 🥰
I think it is an important movie to watch, I have to say, because it shows how history can repeat itself even though we know about it and do not have the intention of repeating it. 🧘The fact that this movie actually is based on true events, makes it even more eye-opening 👀in my opinion, because it isn’t just a silly movie someone has made up.
I was questioning a bit the acting before I started to watch the movie, because it is a German 🇩🇪production, which tend to have some questionable actors/acting, however, the acting in this movie was not any of that sort! 😍A plus for me was that my favourite German-speaking actor was in it: Elyas M’Barek (the one who plays “Sinan” in the movie). 🤩
In conclusion, I can just highly recommend everyone to watch this movie as it is truly eye-opening, and it was also truly educational, yet interesting. 📚
I don’t have anything more to add, to be honest. 5/5 stars, WATCH IT!!
