Wolfbell: W-well, normally Dreamland is very warm and tropical all year round…. M-Miss Fumu says it’s because we’re in the southern hemisphere of Popstar. I-I’ve gotten used to the temperature, but it’s still uncomfortable at times, and I-I don’t like going outside when it’s super hot.

Wolfbell, what is Cappy Town like?

Wolfbell: Cappy Town is the only town I’ve ever seen. If I’ve ever been to another, or if I have a hometown of my own…. I-I… I don’t remember. B-but it’s nice. It’s pretty small, I’ve heard Miss Fumu say that there’s towns that are many times bigger than Cappy Town called cities. I-it might be small, but there’s a lot of things to do here. Sometimes I can even make a little bit of money helping the locals. There’s a bookstore, a restaurant (the food isn’t as bad as everyone says it is, I actually enjoy it sometimes, though I know I unsettle Mr Kawasaki) there’s a toy store (I don’t buy anything, but I do like looking) and that fortune teller (I.. I know she can’t actually see the future, I’ve already tried, but she’s one of the few people who are actually nice to me) and the museum (Mr Curio is also nice, we’re both pretty awkward)

Overall I do like coming into town… but..

Wolfbell: Sometimes it’s so incredibly loud and far.. far too bright….. a..and nobody seems to understand what I mean by that.

Her soul energy engulfs her in a chaotic aura that distorts and confuses anyone who touches it. She has a hard time controlling it, especially without some kind of focusing item. Orbs of soul energy will form around her, popping when exposed to impact.

Wolfbell: like I’ve said before, my favourite thing to do is rock climbing. But… the others can’t exactly do it with me….t-turns out it’s really hard to climb without claws. I.. I guess I forget sometimes just how different I am. Bun tried and he almost fell and got hurt, so his parents told him not to do it anymore… A..as much as I like rock climbing, I-I wait until I’m alone to do it so the others don’t feel left out, and so they don’t get hurt.

Wolfbell: B-but what I can do with friends is go on hikes in the woods, and I like that just as much! Miss Fumu is incredibly smart, s-so she’ll tell me all about Dreamland and the people who live here. She.. she’s never seen another person like me though. B-but I like her a lot, she’s really nice.

Wolfbell: And… and sometimes I’ll go visit the big rock statue man… Kabu.. I think is what the locals call him. I was hoping h.. he’d tell me more about my prophecy…or maybe where I came from? Wolfbell was not prepared to be challenged to a duel. Ordered by King Dedede (and secretly of his own agenda) Meta Knight goes to fight the young Wolfbell. After smacking her around and knocking her down, he has Sword throw her his weapon and encourages Wolfbell to get up and fight back.

Just as Wolfbell was not prepared for this, Meta Knight finds himself equally unprepared for her soul magic when she finally has something to focus her magic with.

Headcannons for yamikage?

Trigger warning for darker themes and child abuse/neglect

Such a complex basket case.

-Yamikage identifies as male and uses he/him pronouns. He will never let this fact about him see the light of day, but he did experiment with she/her pronouns at one point in his lifetime. This experiment did not last. Sexuality wise, he is demirose, requiring a deep bond and a lot of trust with someone to experience any kind of attraction with anyone.

-His full legal name is Yamikage Kubo. He never introduces himself by his full name (if he introduces himself at all, getting him to talk to most people and try to make unnecessary introductions makes pulling teeth seem easy) and hates his last name with a passion. He also does not like being called ‘Yami’ by anyone other than Gamma, and will instantly correct someone that his name is Yamikage if you try and call him that. Currently, he is equivalent to being forty seven years old.

-Yamikage is the youngest of three siblings, and has an older brother and an older sister. His father is a legendary ninja amongst the ninja circles and overall the clan Yamikage hails from is both extremely powerful, but also has a very high reputation. Yamikage’s father is a star warrior, having served the Ninja Task Force for many years, long before they ever joined forces with the GSA and started actively participating in the war. He was forced to temporarily take leave from the force after his wife, the leader of the village, passed away. He returned to assume all her duties and the care of his three children. Yamikage is not close with any of his family members. His siblings have a long history of mocking and picking on their little brother, pulling multiple pranks on him that ranged from leading him in the woods to show him ‘something cool’ only to abandon him so he’d get lost, to actively trying to scare him with things and scenarios that they knew he hated or feared, often ending with him actually getting hurt. His father always looked the other way after telling Yamikage once that if he didn’t like how he was being treated he would have to stand up for himself and fight back, fights he always lost as his siblings were both a good deal bigger, older and more experienced. Yamikage’s father had a very sour opinion on Yamikage, and has told Yamikage to his face that he wishes Yamikage had not been conceived, had he not been born his wife, Yamikage’s mother, would not have passed away due to the pregnancy complications. He tried his hardest to go low contact with his family prior to his betrayal. Relationship wise, Yamikage had a very on and off dating relationship with Gamma, who he had planned to ask to be his boyfriend. He also got engaged against his wishes to his now ex-fiancée.

-Being born a star warrior from a young age Yamikage was to join the Ninja Task Force and fight alongside the army. Yamikage, not wanting any attention, much less to be an officer, purposefully did just below average during basic training. Enough to pass, but not enough to be considered for any extra training, even if in truth he was an extraordinarily skilled strategist and had considerable combative abilities as well. Truth be told, he did not want to be here, he didn’t like any of these people. The one saving grace was this got him away from his father and siblings, and as long as he did his assigned work he was left alone. Well, almost. The thing about that kind of plan was that it only worked if he actually was left alone, and a certain red sefortian refused to let him just brood alone in some corner on his time off. If you were to ask him, he really was not sure why he ever decided to give Gamma any time of day, but soon their interactions became almost daily.

-Yamikage’s favourite things to do are practice his various ninja skills alone, play strategy games with Gamma, and his and Gamma’s ‘war’ where they will try and tap each other playfully. Gamma was never fast enough or sneaky enough to catch Yamikage off guard. He will deny it till the end of time, but he’s actually a pretty big fan of romantic comedy novels. His favourite being a popular series that is well known for being horrifically bad. He’s also a pretty big fan of calligraphy and even knows how to craft certain pieces of jewelry.

-Yamikage’s favourite snacks are dango, thought he will eat just about anything due to growing up on the tail end of a famine on his home world. A lot of Yamikage’s comrades were disturbed to find that he had no problems eating demonbeast meat during the war.

-Ability wise, like most of his kind he has control over the chakra produced by his body. Specifically his ninjutsu focuses on the control of wind and shadows. He’s much more skilled than he’ll let on. He also has a few other ninja abilities and skills, like short distance teleportation and scaling vertical walls. For weapons he has his katana, alongside several throwing weapons and various other ninja tools.

-It is as only after his steady descent into darkness that he started putting the work and effort into climbing the ranks. He became the Ninja Task Force’s star strategist, alongside one of its stronger warriors. He finally played the part of being the perfect child his father always wanted, and he despised every single second of it. But it eventually got him the rank of the task force’s second in command next to the Ninja Task Force’s leader Fiona. His father finally saying he was proud, even that he was sorry for his earlier treatment, came far, far too late. It was shortly after that Yamikage snapped entirely, executing the plan that had been festering in his mind for years. He targeted the GSA’s star strategist, and finally tried to kill Arthur, Meta, and Fiona in an ambush that ended with several hundred casualties, including the death of Arthur’s brother Bedivere who went in Arthur’s place and fell into the trap meant for him.

-Yamikage is smaller than the average member of his species, and was born premature. Besides that, his only other physical health trait is the scar on the left side of his face, which does not cause any impairment to his vision. Yamikage has always been socially withdrawn and quite severely depressed, but during the years after Gamma’s discharge from the army, he started to experience several symptoms of psychosis. He stared hallucinating moments of Gamma being back, overly intense bad ideas and voices in his head argued with him that punishing everyone around him would make him stop feeling this empty, and he started to sleepwalk a lot, something he hadn’t done since he was a child. Yamikage still experiences delusions daily, but rarely reaches point of truly being detached from reality and is vaguely aware in the back of his mind that what he is experiencing isn’t real.

-He is ambidextrous, but prefers the use of his right hand.

-After the events of his betrayal, the Ninja Task Force between Fiona’s severe wounds preventing her from properly leading, no second in command to take her place, and the absolutely tarnished reputation of the ninjas, was disbanded and the GSA lost the support of the ninjas. Alongside such, Meta Knight was also severely injured, Dragato was captured and Bedivere was killed. Not satisfied with the damage done, Yamikage continued for several years to further sabotage the GSA, playing his hand in the events that resulted in the recorded deaths of both Jecra and Garlude. He didn’t stop until the GSA was effectively wiped off the face of the universe in the Final Battle. Falspar has not seen or heard of him since that battle, but has a pretty strong suspicion that he is in fact alive. And he wants nothing more than to bring him to justice, or rather, albeit something he cannot admit out loud due to his image, let Nonsurat use him as a training dummy until there’s nothing left of him. Little does he know that Meta Knight and Wolfbell encountered him on Popstar.

-His theme song is Sleepwalk by Forrest Day.

Wolfbell: rock climbing. My paws are strong enough that even with just one of them I can support my entire body weight with ease…. I usually go at night, and climb the cliff the castle sits upon from the bottom to the top. The sunrise that peaks over the horizon… it’s beautiful and so, so quiet.

Wolfbell certainly has a demonbeast-like appearance, being of a black/red colour scheme and having things like horns, claws and webbed wings. There’s a reason she tries to hide her horns in her fluff a lot, sometimes the cappies wonder that too. Wolfbell doesn’t know what she is, but she doesn’t think she’s a demonbeast. Hopefully. That would… certainly be almost as confusing as not knowing what she is at all.

But Wolfbell isn’t quick to go on the attack, she would see if what she’s facing off against is actually a threat or not, and if talking it out instead is a possibility. Don’t want to have a misunderstanding and attack someone who isn’t dangerous, that would be pretty crumby of her, sure they’re the one trying to hunt HER but hhhhh social anxiety says to not be The Problem.

But yeah, she insists awkwardly, not a demonbeast. She thinks-

Star-Crossed Hero of Dreamland: Wolfbell!

=General Information=

Name: She doesn’t remember her name before coming to Popstar, if.. she even had one at all. But the villagers of Cappytown are calling her Wolfbell, so she’s happy to stick with that for the time being.

Gender/Pronouns: Hermaphrodite, she/her

Species: Unclear, she herself is uncertain. While she does appear to resemble a puffball, several of her biological features do not aline with typical puffball anatomy.

Age: She appears to be a preteen. But just like all the other information about herself, she’s really unsure.

Abilities:

-flight (still a bit shaky at this, cannot fly for long periods of time without rest)

-control over soul magic, she can use her sword to focus blasts and streaks of red coloured soul magic. Her abilities allow her to sense other people with souls nearby her.

-appears to have some kind of empath ability, she is incredibly sensitive to the emotions of those around her.

-can phase through objects like a ghost, she has a hard time activating this ability on command.

-her bells on her ears will ring to warn her of oncoming danger, and when she is near someone she can judge them with the bells to see if they are safe or not. Morally good people will make the right bell ring, while people she should probably avoid will make the left one jingle.

-she is proving to be quite good at swordsmanship!

-her blue blood contains natural antifreeze proteins, allowing her greater resilience to colder temperatures.

-interestingly enough she can hold her breath for well over an hour before having to breath again.

Weaknesses:

-Has poor endurance for using her soul magic, constantly using it will rapidly drain her energy and make her collapse.

-Had complete retrograde amnesia, cannot remember where she came from, or truly who she is. She’s unsure what caused the amnesia.

-She is quite self critical, especially when it comes to failure. She is scared of letting others down, especially Meta Knight. She’s also quite socially anxious in general.

Likes:

-Long nature walks, gets her away from the loudness of society and everyone’s emotions… and judgement.

-Rock climbing.

-Training with Sword and Blade, training with her sword in general, she’ll practice her foot work even if she’s alone.

-Star gazing and the moon.

-Tea.

-Books and reading.

Dislikes:

-Loud noises, her ears are sensitive.

-Large crowds of people. Too many emotions.

-Eating veggies.

-Getting really muddy.

-The cappies’ judgement towards her for being different.

=Personality=

Wolfbell is a young warrior in training who tends to think to herself instead of speak out loud, she is a little awkward and tends to take a little a while getting a hang of new surroundings or changes. Around people she is quite introverted, but will force herself to try and be friendly even at her own discomfort, often leading to spastic moments of saying things that somehow sound actually coherent.

She has natural talent with swordsmanship, though like the modest person she is she often undermines her skills as nothing particularly special and has a hard time accepting praise.

She’s clever, intuitive, and alert, with a great love for the beauty of life and nature. She will try to be helpful always, and will valiantly and bravely rush to defend someone if she notices they are in danger or need help. She’s non confrontational in social settings, shying away or simply taking any kind of harmful gossip about her. Truth be told she’s very confused, and feels lost, she wants to know her origins as badly as she wants to fulfil this destiny of hers. Wolfbell is self-critical as is, and thinks lowly of herself.

=Backstory=

Wolfbell’s story begins with the planet Popstar, which has begun to suffer from demonbeast problems. While a Star Warrior named Meta Knight lives on the planet and tries his best to defend it, there's only so much he can do. The townspeople began to see the demonbeasts everywhere as King Dedede ordered more and more of them to fulfil his tyrannical agenda. Eventually after several episodes of sheep going missing and numerous cappies seeing an octopus demonbeast, they go to Kabu and ask for an answer to their problems. The pebble of knowledge in the cosmic river of history says that the solution to their problem lies within Wolfbell. 

Confused by what this means, they ponder on what Wolfbell could possibly be when barely a full day later a stranger shows up from out of the blue, a young puff-like being who has the features of a wolf, and on either ear a small bell. Meta Knight sees immediately that she is not a Star Warrior, but with no other options he begins to train this stranger to unlock what he can only assume to be the power within her necessary to defeat the monsters and eventually Nightmare. With no name or memory of her past, she opts to just go by what the locals have been calling her: Wolfbell.

She manages to defeat the octopus demonbeast (albeit with a lot of running and lots of internal screaming) and is seen as the hero of Cappytown. This goes on for a while, she meets the residents of the town and castle, albeit the odd one out and the scapegoat when things go wrong for the cappies, with each new demonbeast she defeats she gets a little bit stronger.

However, little did she and everyone else know, defeating NME and stopping Nightmare was never her destiny.

Why did yamikage betray the GSA? What does dragato think of yamikage?

He didn’t just betray the GSA, he betrayed the Ninja Task Force as well, dooming it entirely. But as for why? There was never just one solid reason for the mental snap that Yamikage experienced when he betrayed the star warriors. Nor did it happen instantaneously. But one could say Gamma’s dishonourable discharge was the start of the metaphorical snowballing.

As for Dragato and Yamikage, both became star strategists within the GSA and the Ninja Task Force respectively. Despite both being young (albeit Yamikage had a couple years on Dragato in age) the strategies the two of them came up with one the GSA several battles. Perhaps, had Yamikage not defected, they could’ve even possibly won the war. Knowing that, when Yamikage did go traitor, Dragato was one of his first targets.

Professionally prior to the betrayal, they appeared to get along well and were always polite towards each other, but personally Dragato had no idea that Yamikage secretly hated him with every fibre of his being. As for what he thought of Yamikage, he was a bit too busy with his work and personal life to try and make friends with his brooding coworker.

Needless to say though, current day Dragato has a very, very sour opinion on him.
