Sans: He's a researcher studying siren communications. When the local aquarium offers for him to interact regularly with their resident siren for his research, he's delighted, and jumps at the chance. She's initially very hostile toward him but nothing can cool his absolute fascination with such a beautiful apex predator- he wears her down with his consistency, always visiting and giving her snacks and talking with her. He also wears her down with his obvious admiration and delight... it's hard to hate someone, when they think everything about you is perfect and worth its own individual peer-reviewed paper. She often finds herself blushing at his clear googoo eyes.

Over time, they do build a genuine connection. And Sans feels that. He's always visiting, and he's making great progress with his research. But... he starts to realise that he isn't even paying that much attention to his research anymore. A lot of his growing obsession with his field... well. It boils down to an obsession with her.

Red: He's her 'trainer' technically, but he dislikes the word. He's the one who spends the most time in the tank with her, his job description is pretty much just to make her do tricks for the crowd but he goes out of his way to try and keep her entertained and mentally stimulated, with tank games and complicated routines they can perform together underwater. If anyone else tried to get her to do 'tricks' she'd bite their hands off, but she allows it with Red, because he makes it really fun. She still does bite him every now and then- but it's much more playful. Much more flirty. Red seems chill... but secretly, he fucking hates the idea of anyone else being in the tank with her, because everyone else seems to treat her like a performing monkey.

She may have a little bit of a crush on him. He's always so confident, and he's always spending time with her. His teeth remind her of a big shark- a big predator, just like her. She trusts him.

Skull: He's in charge of her feeding schedule and health. Something of a vet and a chef, he makes sure she's healthy, stable, regularly eating nutritious food to keep her safe. She likes him a lot and not just because he's always bringing food- at first he was intimidating, but nobody can resist the Skull Rizz and she grew to consider him a close companion. She likes that he lets her gnaw on his hands... she also likes that if she offers to share some of her food with him he'll literally eat it on the spot. She admires the intense dedication- no one else will eat raw fish like him.

He'll sit on the edge of her pool, and she'll come spend time with him. Most siren doctors who try to give her checkups end up losing a few knuckles here and there, but Skull can simply hold out his hand and she'll let him examine wherever he needs to. He feels deeply responsible for her safety and health.

We perform conscious actions according to rules

These social rules are changed intermittently by the actions they regulate. In other words, it is a consequence of action

Our actions are governed by rules -> rules are transformed as an effect of the resulting actions 🔁

A social rule implies some kind of enforcement. These rules have their own consequences, such as dressing badly for a job interview or getting caught stealing

Sociology seeks to understand how rules generate their effects, how people respond to rules under which they live, and how the rules change over time

Laws and social norms are two types of rules

Laws are rules whose enforcement is backed by the power of government

Social norms are morally weighty principles such as telling the truth), and little clear moral content such as dress codes and good manners. Social norms are enforced by authorities as well as by ourselves (e.g., when we feel guilty or ashamed)

It’s common for rules to contradict each other - mostly when social norms get in the way. The social norms governing the way women and men are supposed to behave are inconsistent with the rules governing how to get ahead in a career

Lastly, it is important to note that rules are NOT neutral. Economic, social, and political interactions are (usually) protected by power and benefit some people more than others. As a matter of fact, the rules tend to be more stable when they grant power to those who benefit from them

As an example, economic rules benefited slave owners at the expense of slaves. Coercive measures were used to enforce these rules; slave owners who benefited from these rules could use their power to defend them

Therefore, questions we should be asking are:

How does this specific rule work?

How is this rule enforced?

How does this rule fail to be enforced?

Who benefits and who suffers from this rule?

In order to understand different aspects of social life, we need to figure out the rules.

BACKGROUND

Jeffery Woods grew up in a family that only cared about appearances. He and his brother Liu were brands that gave name to their family

Their parents only cared about getting on other people's good sides, but when it came down to it - they were snakes. If a coworker's son was taking boxing lessons, Jeff had to take boxing lessons to prove their family was superior

In the grand scheme of things, that's all Jeff and Liu were — show-dogs. They were strangers in their own home when they weren't "contributing" to something

Liu was down right attention starved and quickly became a people pleaser, but at the core of it all he was just as frustrated as Jeff

Both of them knew when to be civil when necessary out of convenience, neither of them liked fighting

At least at the time, that is

Jeff's frustration coiled around him, tainting him, twisting at his insides. At times, fighting seemed like the only way he could communicate in a world where everyone lies to get what they want

Eventually, fighting became a source of pleasure. He found it cathartic and loved the rush it gave him to be in control. When it's only you left to protect yourself, fighting is all you can do

Some people say that when someone goes insane they snap - but that's not the case

From day one society ingrains the value of fighting into people, and when people listen, they love to look the other way

Jeff's not a monster, he's a fighter

That's what society made him to be, and if they can't take the heat, well, who's to say anyone's surprised

It was when Jeff realized nothing was going to give that he took it into his own hands. He got rid of the threat his parents posed, got rid of that damn corrupted cop and that smarmy group of kids

He can't believe he actually felt sorry for them at first. There's no use in sympathizing with the weak if you want to survive

He abandoned his old life, abandoned Liu, and left

PERSONALITY

Jeff has a big mouth on him

Don't get me wrong, as I said: he was raised to be civil when it counted, and he knows how to recognize when the odds are stacked against him, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a short fuse

Back when he had Liu, he had a reason to hold back. Now that he's got no one to reprimand him for his actions, there's really no reason why he can't say or do whatever the fuck he wants

He doesn't like change and hates relying on other people. People can be unpredictable, and when it comes down to it, the only person you can trust is yourself

He quickly learned to be observant, learned to read other people's body language. In a house full of egg shells, one has to learn

He might say he's not a sadistic person, but he 100% is

He was quick to generalize pleasure with frustration, which is in part why he came to love fighting

Frustration was a promise tied to the anticipation of a fight, and fighting meant that he could convey what he felt

He finds a twisted sense of pleasure when people beg. His favorite part of killing is when people beg, it shows that they know where their place is – which just so happens to be beneath him

He hates this part of himself mainly because it reminds him of his parents, but it's the one thing he'd agree with them on

All in all, proving that people are beneath him is another one of his defense mechanisms in proving he is still in control

He just doesn't see the point in trying to persuade someone into seeing him as who he really is

People love to look down on anyone as if they're greater

With that said: it's best to avoid showing fear towards him – it will give him incentive to hurt you

Oh, and never let him see you act weak

Jeff is a manipulator through and through

What he does isn't because he wants to, it's always going to be someone else's fault for making him do the things he does

… Which means he’s also highly hypocritical

Redesigning Creepypasta Characters!

Hey, y’all

I’ve been trying to get into the Creepypasta fandom again, but I’ve recently come to the revelation that I have no idea who any of these characters are besides their fandom depictions.

(I looked them up on a couple of wiki’s and it seems that there aren’t many logical descriptions for some of the characters.)

SO, I figured fuck it. I’ll just do a little tweaking. Just to give them a more concrete baseline.

I'll also note that controversial characters such as Sally, Clockwork, and Offenderman will be excluded.

I try to filter out characters that grossly misuse mental disorders / trauma to explain abnormality in psychodynamic terms to garner sympathy or personal identification for the character

I have a few reasons for this:

It perpetuates incorrect perceptions of mental illness

Many horror films have been known to do this, and it's probably why so many horror creators for the fandom resorted to this idea. It's no fault of their own, merely a learned condition. However, it's best to be aware that you're doing it because people (back in the day) demonized those who were seen as mentally ill to give the reassurance that having an illness could never happen to the audience.

It gives the impression that mentally ill people are violent and inherently evil

This can be seen with some existing CP characters as they resort to violence after treatment doesn't work and life doesn't improve.

It contributes to the belief that those with mental illnesses are recognizably different from others in both manner and appearance

Again, while some creators brand marks on their characters to appear creepy and disturbing, it also says that those with mental illnesses are disturbed and unlike everyone else. I think everyone knows at this point that's not the case, but it's best to avoid it regardless.

I personally do not want to misrepresent a mental illness I do not have, and I do not want to give the impression that someone with a specific mental disorder that’s already misunderstood (such as schizophrenia) is "fated" (for a lack of a better term) to a life of violence.

This doesn’t mean I’m going to avoid symptoms, however. You can show symptoms of a disorder without actually having the disorder

Ex. Someone who’s narcissistic does not inherently have npd

Finally, I want to make clear that these recreations are not to infantilize or sympathize killers / excuse their actions. They are still going to 1000% be asshole murderers.

In creating solid backgrounds for these characters, it might cause the characters to change drastically or not at all.

I’ll be using a specific character template I’ve created to guide me along which can be found on my Wattpad: XxAcidicGoddessxX (wait wait, don’t turn away!)

I mention in my wattpad that I use D&D stats to make sure these characters aren’t OP as well, but I’ve found that people don’t like to overcomplicate RP what that, so for simplicity’s sake I’ll be keeping the stats on the DL.

Tip to those living on the first floor of a 2 floor motel, if you trip an alarm from your horrid cooking and the alarm in questions is saying “SMOKE DETECTED — EVACUATE” maybe yell up to the people above you that there’s nothing to worry about and that it’s a false alarm so they don’t get a heart attack because the safety department decided to place an alarm right above your freaking bed. Literally, the alarm was so loud I couldn’t even make out what the lady was trying to say.

Also, can we talk real quick about those stupid door closers? Opening / keeping open a door feels like having to move a brick. It’s such a bad design, especially to people who may have disabilities with weak bones or muscles. If I did need to evacuate and bring stuff with me (because I am not leaving anything valuable behind even if there’s an immediate danger), being quick about it would be out of the question because the door stopper is so freaking difficult to deal with!!! I can’t even have the dang thing removed because it’s a “safety violation”.
