How To Research Witchcraft

DISCLAIMER: This is all based on my research, path, experiences & opinion! Maybe you’re a brand new witch, or you’re a seasoned witch, either way research can be hard. I struggled with it myself, with questions like: Where do I start? How do I find information? How do I know the information is good, reliable, ect? Have no fear, I’m going to try to help you out and give others the opportunity to show resources they use. “I’m New! What Should I Search?” This section is for all of you baby witches out there! You weren’t even worrying about finding information yet because you weren’t sure what to search, this one is for you, here’s a list of topics I find great for baby witches. Cleansing Charging Warding Grounding Types Of Witches Types Of Magick Divination I think these are all topics/skills any witch should research and be aware of. How To Search: The first place to start would be googling any question. Some questions will give you mundane results, others you might find legitimate answers. It depends on the topic, and after a while you will most likely learn what topics will wield you answers and which ones won’t. No matter what, this is the place to start. Okay, you scrolled through google and couldn’t find anything relating to the question you had, or the topic you wanted to learn about. What’s the next step? I have several websites, which I will link here, that I like to search for my topic on. Sometimes google can’t find what you’re looking for, due to the algorithm, but a website catering to a witch, Wiccan, Pagan, ect can be full of information on what you’re looking for. (& not tell you about cooking when you want rosemary correspondences) So, here’s some youtube channels and websites you can search for information on specific topics. DISCLAIMER: I am by no means saying anything of these are entirely credible, they’re just some things I like to use, or a place to start. Websites: - Exemplore (General searching) - Witchipedia (General searching) - Labyrinthos (Tarot) - AstroCharts (Astrology) Another great place to search is youtube! I’ll also be linking some youtube channels I like/have seen recommended below: - Harmony Nice (Wiccan, but still good information for all witches, tons of how-tos on her enchanted endeavors series!) - Scarlet Ravenswood - The Witch Of Wonderlust - Stargirl The Practical Witch - Magickians Youtube channel recommendations lists: - Witchy/Spiritual/Paranormal Youtubers - More Witchy Youtubers - Youtube Witches

Finding Good Info:

How can you tell information is credible? Well, you can’t, especially on the topic of witchcraft. Someone might give great information on cleansing, while at the same time spouting something you disagree with, or might in the future. A lot of witchcraft, and how it works, is up for personal opinion. However, there are a few things you can do to lower the risk the information you’re taking in is a bunch of crap.

The first thing you need to keep in mind is critical thinking, even if you’re new, does this seem logical? Does this make sense? Does it go along with other things I know for a fact to be true or that I believe? Ect are great questions to ask yourself.

The next thing would be cross referencing, if you look at the uses for let’s say thyme in witchcraft and you notice a few key things over and over again then odds are there’s some truth or basis in that.

Another thing that can lead to good information, although the same things above apply, would be books! Especially books recommended by many other, more experienced witches, I’ll link that below. Anyways, the reasons a book is reliable is because I find that if someone took the time to write a book on something, they’re trying to spread genuine information and education.

Other witches:

You won’t agree with everything all witches say, that’s impossible. Every witch, their type of witchcraft, their practice, their morals, ect is different. That being said, other witches are still a great place to go to as well. There’s a lot of experienced witches on here that want to help you! If you find a witch has similar ideas/interests/morals relating to witchcraft odds are you will continue to as you grow as a witch, & they will be a great resource. Once again, still, maintain the critical thinking and cross referencing of course.

In conclusion, the best way to find good information is to do lots of reading, consideration, and experimentation. Variety is vital, if a book, a fellow witch, and an article all say something and it makes sense to you then odds are you can find it’s credible & you should try it or listen to it.
