Sometimes I wonder what wild theories antis have about me. I know that’s a pretty vain impulse (ooh, I hope these strangers are talking about me) but also I really do want to know.

I like the implication that BL is some kind of parasite on your brain, forcing you into “fujo thought patterns” and creating a subconscious desire to protect manga like your own child. If your manga is doing that to you, please burn it. I think it might be haunted.
Tumblr media
I found this screenshot cleaning up my desktop and holy shit I thought we as a society had moved past book burning but I guess antis just want to sound like radical right wingers
(submitted by anon)
Man that’s just… Kinda sad. This discourse really sucks because there’s absolutely nothing wrong with liking yaoi manga, yet this person has been convinced there is to the point of actually contemplating burning queer literature I mean
Damn.
That’s just not okay.
But if op wants to send me all of their yaoi I’d take it gladly, someone should give it a good home. I sure as hell hope they didn’t fucking burn it.

It’s amazing how there is a generation of people who hate Stan Lee for ???
The man, even in his early years denounced racism as a special type of evil that can’t be defeated with a bullet.
Marvel was the first mainstream comic to show a gay marriage.
And the accusations of him sexually harassing a nurse were false. and proven to be false.
The man has denounced racism and promoted tolerance and diversity for years, much more than what most people who age would have ever dared consider. Hell, he created Black Panther, the first black comic hero.
But all because the man didn’t want to make Peter Parker black and bisexual he obviously is a racist and homophobe… Despite…
Luke Cage
Falcon
Storm
Spider Girl (Corazon)
Miles Morales
Moonstar
Karma
Black Panther
Shuri
Kimura
Lady Deathstrike
Echo
Jubilee
Monet St. Croix
Hulkling
America Chavez
Northstar and hosting the first gay marriage depicted in mainstream comics IN 1992 WAY BEFORE GAY MARRIAGE WAS EVEN LEGALIZED
Valkyrie
Wiccian and many others…
But y’all asses over here fucking ignoring the shit out of them like the only thing Stan Lee and Marvel ever made was Spiderman and Peter Parker all because the man doesn’t think that you should redefine established or preexisting characters. Why?
Because he believed in creating NEW characters, new characters who had their OWN personalities, who had their OWN stories, who had their OWN fans
He wanted to make new things, not redefine what already exists. He wanted to make NEW characters and stories that people could connect to. NEW characters who could stand on their own as opposed to just being “This character but now xyz.”
He wanted characters who had their own life and vibrancy to them.
Yet y’all asses fucking mad he didn’t make Peter Parker black while you ignoring the fuck out of Miles Morales. Yet y’all asses are mad he didn’t make Peter Parker bi or gay while ignoring the fact that the Marvel comic version of Deadpool and Loki are both bisexual.
Y’all fucking ignoring the POC and LGBT+ characters that exist in the Marvel universe all because you wanna be like ~~uwu 20gayteen~~
Until y’all asses start recognizing POC and LGBT+ characters THAT ALREADY EXIST you don’t get to say shit about anything else being gay.
DON’T SIT THERE AND IGNORE CANON LGBT AND POC CHARACTERS AND THEN ACT LIKE STAN LEE WAS A RACIST OR HOMOPHOBIC BIGOT

Honestly here’s some information that I think will help antis understand problematic ships a whole lot better. Most people don’t ship for aspirational reasons.
The vast majority of shippers I’ve encountered don’t consider fictional ships to be “relationship goals” or something to emulate in real life. Yes, even the healthy ones. Most shippers are just interested in telling stories or think the individual characters are attractive or want to explore new dynamics that aren’t present in canon for whatever reason.
I’ve seen a lot of antis respond to problematic ships with confusion and I think from an aspirational view of fiction that reaction makes a lot of sense. If you consider fictional relationships to be something fans like because they want to emulate, it would be pretty scary and baffling to see fans latch onto problematic ships. The problem is, most people don’t choose ships based on what they want in an actual relationship. They choose them based on what makes an interesting story or which characters they’re attracted to or even what would cause the most problems for the characters involved.
I hope this helps people understand each other better and I apologize for crosstagging, but I really think this information might help make the discourse more productive.

How dare people try to defend themselves when direct insults and implications that they’re a danger to their family members are posted in the main ship tags. Don’t they know to never defend themselves and just lie down and accept whatever hate comes their way because their brains just happened to latch onto a certain ship?
me: starker and thorki are incest/pedophilia and are disgusting

Would you like an honest answer? Because you’re getting one.
I’m a thorki shipper with two adopted siblings. I have no desire to do anything romantic or sexual with them. I consider them to be fully my siblings and just as related to me as my blood relatives are. My enjoyment of thorki is entirely unrelated to my siblings.
I like the ship because it’s a complicated dynamic between two interesting characters with a lot of shared history. Yes, I’m aware that a romantic relationship between brothers in real life has a very high chance of being abusive and I wouldn’t support it. In fact, I often write thorki as heavily codependent bordering on unhealthy and sometimes as downright abusive. I don’t like thorki because I see it as some kind of “relationship goals”, I like it because there’s a lot of potential for interesting stories with this dynamic. Also because I relate to Loki and like seeing him feel safe and be cared for by someone he loves. It’s just a story, not a worldview. I don’t personally ship starker, but I would imagine people who do feel a similar way.
sometimes I wonder what goes through starkers’ heads. are they into pedophilia? is it their kink? i think about this with thorki too… “they’re not blood brothers!” isn’t a valid excuse. are u gonna fuck your adoptive brother? no? then what the fuck do you mean??????????
if yes, you would fuck your adoptive siblings, then you literally need help

Hi, I was wondering if you’re ok with us reblogging posts tagged as “personal”? It’s just, your recent post abt ABO really resonated w/ me, but I know that some people can be quite touchy abt personal posts, sooo? Is that post in particular okay?
Just answering this real quick since it’s simple and time-sensitive. Yes, go ahead and reblog any of my posts. I tag stuff as personal for categorization, not because I don’t want them reblogged. If I ever posted something that I didn’t want people to reblog, I would say that directly and not leave it up to some cryptic tag like personal.
Fun fact: Uh... I’m writing fanfiction right now. It’s th0rki and also a really fun problematic kink. Because I’m hopeless.

Some dumbass on this site: Right?! They're so homophobic and transphobic and will make the kids wanna fuck wolves!
Me: I meant that a lot of them use the AU setting as an excuse to avoid characterization...

Why do people keep trying to ‘call me out’ for explaining what is and isn’t legal in the US? I didn’t make the law. It’s not my fault that child pornography is a distinct category from obscenity and doesn’t include stuff like fanfics or drawn images that don’t resemble real life minors. All I’m doing is trying to stop people spreading misinformation.

I’m probably not the right person to talk about this, but I just had a thought and I’m physically incapable of not immediately posting whatever comes to mind, so here you go. I think the tendency for fandom to fixate on white characters over people of color is not solely the fault of the fans themselves, particularly in US and western film. It’s not as simple as fans gravitating towards white characters (and by extension, white actors) when presented with a selection of equal options where the only difference is skin color, because that’s not what’s being presented. Main characters in mainstream movies have much higher odds of being white over any other race. Just look at how difficult it is for poc to find leading roles in Hollywood. They’re much more likely to end up playing a side character and as a result, a less complex character. On top of that, American studios consider making a character nonwhite to be a risk, so they might hesitate to cast more than a handful of poc and that further lowers the odds of a poc being chosen as a fan favorite. So yes, there is a bias in fandom towards white characters, but it doesn’t start at the fandom level. It can’t be blamed entirely on those stupid fangirls mooning over their white faves because in a lot of cases, the complicated roles with large amounts of screentime disproportionately go to white actors and those are the roles that fans latch onto.
You can’t separate fandom racism from racism in the movie industry or any other type of fictional media. It all feeds off each other and attacking the people at the bottom of the chain is not the answer. In the hierarchy of mass media and fandom, fans have the least power. It’s like trying to reform a corrupt company by yelling at the receptionist. Are they doing something shady? Possibly. Is making them feel bad going to change this company’s overall business practices? Nope. In my opinion, the best way to institute change in mainstream fiction is to become a creator. Obviously that’s a lot easier said than done, but it might be the only way things will actually change. You’re certainly not going to get anywhere by yelling at a stranger for having the wrong favorite characters.

As I’ve said before, I make it no secret that I have problematic ships in real life. I was actually talking to my therapist today about how the thorki community on Twitter was encouraging me when I said I wanted to write kinky stuff and you know what? He thought that was good. It’s a positive influence on my life. My mom knows about some of my weirder ships and she doesn’t care at all. In general, people don’t care about which fictional characters you like to imagine kissing. They care about how you treat people in real life.
Tumblr media
i can’t believe thinking shipping FUCKING ADULTS WITH CHILDREN or MOTHERFUCKING INCEST is wrong is an “unpopular opinion” on this hellsite

go outside for once in your life you fucking wheat bagels

really, go outside and tell someone ‘i think it’s okay to glorify pedophilia, abuse, and incest’…… wonder how they’ll react?

and yes, i’m going to crosstag this so all you absolute fuckfaced tree branches can see some common fucking sense in your 'uwu shipping isn’t reality!!!’ echo chambers

I think the whole dub versus sub thing is kinda an outdated argument. For a lot of older anime like Yu-Gi-Oh, Sailor Moon, and other series, dubs were heavily censored to air as Saturday morning cartoons in the US, so you were actually getting a truncated version of the show if you only watched the English dub. Cardcaptor Sakura got completely re-edited to focus on a supporting character rather than Sakura herself. But nowadays English dubs are translated in a much more faithful way and there’s actually a lot of good voice actors in the industry, so arguing one way or the other is just personal taste. It’s a conversation that was relevant 10 years ago, but doesn’t really matter anymore.
speaking of dubs i find the dub vs sub war kinda dumb. like there's more dubs i dislike than like but everyone has varying tastes, esp from non-american fans. imo eng dub shines the absolute best when it's games over anime, bc they have more creative freedom as they arent restricted by timed lipsyncing, and most anime licenses dont allow in-show edits(hence why i love abridged series more). my gripe with dubs in anime is they dont sound natural or what im familiar listening to american media -1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a native English speaker, English dubs just sound awkward to me 9 times out of 10 haha. Doesn’t help that Funimation uses the same actors over and over again, I’m tired of hearing Vic Mignogna everywhere lol.
Some dubs are great (I love the Ouran dub) but most are… meh. Idk they usually sound awkward. Some directors and actors are really good though! And an awesome “pro” to dubs is they’re great for multitasking since you don’t have to look at the screen and read the whole time

Hi so I get that anti-NOMAPs are bad b/c it contributes to a systemic abuse and oppression of a group that doesn’t really have control over it, but on the other hand it’s a it really wrong to not want to be involved with people who make you uncomfortable? Like I dislike hanging out with men not b/c they’ve done anything wrong personally but they as a whole make me uncomfortable? I’m new to this topic and these are my first thoughts and I wanted to hear from u and see if u could tell me yours.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being uncomfortable. You don’t have to wanna hang out with them. The stuff I really object to is the graphic threats of violence and doxxing that comes from antis. Of course you should worry about your personal safety above anything else. Social stigma is a big problem for nomaps, but that’s not why I’m against antis. I’m against antis because they’re actively trying to hurt people.
