Funny story. One of my clients was telling me a story from when he was learning English, working at a café in England he was asked every morning by one of the regulars if 'he was the dish of day?' to which he always answered 'yes!' partly because he didn't understand the question and partly because he didn't want to offend her by asking what she meant. Isn't it interesting what we will do to avoid confrontation and embarrassment. Or, to offend someone by being honest. Now, he tells this story whilst laughing hysterically, but at the time this question was perplexing as he didn't understand!
