I mostly post about my aquariums, fish and aquatic plants. Occasionally I'll sneak in a picture or two of one of my kitties. Also reblogs of other things that interest me such as animals, space, dinosaurs and some other sciencey stuff.
So my sister and I were talking about my bristlenose pleco named Finnley. Specifically about his nose and about some comments some people have made about him when I've posted his picture online before. The last picture is a photo of someone else's BN pleco to compare. You can see how poofy Finnley's nose is compared to the other pleco. If you compare him to most other photos of BN plecos it really becomes apparent how poofy his nose is. Someone even asked me once if he was a special type of BN pleco. He's always looked like that so I don't think it's swelling from infection or anything like that. Do they get like that as they age? He's about 8 years old. What do you guys think?
I know the moss doesn't look like much now.. it was sitting in a bucket for several weeks after all.. but I'm hoping it'll grow and perk up with the light and fertilizer. There's also a couple of baby Java ferns in here, hoping they'll do the same as the moss and grow~
Also, there's a cool little cave behind the right rock. You can see the entrance in the middle between the two rocks.
As for stocking, I plan to put a betta in here because I've caught the bettabug again lol
I know the flow is a bit strong for a betta, but the pump is at max right now to clear it up, I'll be turning it down later.
Tomorrow, I'll be adding some select ramshorn snails from my other tanks to this one. Then I'll probably wait a bit on getting a betta, let the plants settle in a bit, and get acclimated to the tank for a week or two. I already have cycled filter media in the back compartment so I could add a fish anytime, really. If I see a betta I like at my LFS I'll pick it up, but I'm really wanting a plakat as I've never had one before and this tank has a lid so I could put one in here.. ah, I'm rambling now. Anyways.. ta dah~!! The 6 gal!
I was told by a few people to add bacopa to the back and had been thinking about it myself, so I went and tried again with some bigger clippings. Also pushed them into the substrate deeper than last time to see if that makes a difference. Hopefully, we'll get some growth, and it'll block out the black back!
Stuffed some more baby Java ferns down the back of the dragon stone to try and get some more green in the back.
Also, I took an anubias from one of my other tanks and put it right in the center of the three rocks. I felt like it needed something in the middle there, and someone had suggested I should put a bigger anubias in here, so... voila! Caius seems to like it at least~
I've been feeling like something is still missing in this tank. So, I think I'm going to try adding bacopa caroliniana to the background again. I think the reason they didn't take last time was because the clippings were too small. I'll try again with bigger ones and see how it goes.
Was gonna do some work on it today but got a bit of a nasty booboo on my hand so I figured I'd let it heal a for a couple days before getting my hands in fish water lol
Also if you listen closely you can hear my cat Dax begging for treats from my sister and arguing about it when she says no lol
