I think this has been said before, but betas are the bedrock that keep any omegaverse society functioning
dude omegaverse AUs are lowkey insanely sex positive because 90% of everything revolves around sex and everyone is completely fine with it like imagine taking a week off work to get railed to hell and back and your coworkers being 100% okay with it there's no gossip or drama or anything just mark from HR getting his guts rearranged nonstop tuesday through saturday and coming back to work on monday with a fresh bitemark on his neck and meeting his colleagues for lunch like nothing happened what a LIFE

So, thanks to President Biden’s Infrastructure Bill, remote locations on the Navajo Nation Reservation will be receiving electricity for the first time — ever.
Also, water treatment devices are being developed to help the tribe access clean running water. After decades without.

Something very interesting about the framing of self-driving cars between the US and China.
In the US, companies like Uber, Lyft, or whoever, push self-driving cars with the objective of increasing their profit (but decreasing their rate of profit) by removing drivers from their cars, effectively shifting a large part of their labour costs from the driver seat to the factory.
In China, self-driving busses are designed, built, and tested with the goal of reducing the workload on bus-drivers - who, while remaining in the driver seat, now don't have to micromanage the route at all times, like using a cruise control. It is explicitly framed as a labour-saving device.
If you're interested in the socialist position on automation, there it is in practice.

AITA for jerkin' it to Goya's Black Paintings?
Emojis for convenience and humor: 🎨🖼🍆💦
I know someone's gonna yell bait about this but idc, like, what? Do you want proof? Video evidence? Grow up.
So I (30x) really like Goya's Black Paintings. Like, Saturn Devouring His Son, Duel with Cudgels, A Pilgrimage to San Isidro. I think they're hypnotic, beautiful, evocative. They make me feel emotions I can't quite explain properly.
As the title says, sometimes I beat my meat to them. Whatever. It's not really about horniness. But the intent doesn't matter.
Recently (in a discussion about sexuality in art, I promise it was relevant, similar sentiments were being shared) I mentioned to my partner (33nb) that I do this. They were pretty taken aback.
Apparently, they find this 'gross' and 'kind of dodgy' because Goya's black paintings were never intended to be shared with a wider audience. They were art that he did not mean to share, painted on the walls of his house near the end of his life. They say it seems like the work is too personal to jerk off to, that it seems invasive or like a violation.
I don't think it's a big deal. The guy is dead, it's not like his ghost knows what I'm doing. It's a good thing to consider, but I don't think it ultimately matters, ethically.
So, I guess AITA for this?

“By the usual measures, Biden should be cruising to reëlection. Violent crime has dropped to nearly a fifty-year low, unemployment is below four per cent, and in January the S. & P. 500 and the Dow hit record highs. More Americans than ever have health insurance, and the country is producing more energy than at any previous moment in its history. His opponent, who is facing ninety-one criminal counts, has suggested that if he is elected he will fire as many as fifty thousand civil servants and replace them with loyalists, deputize the National Guard as a mass-deportation force, and root out what he calls “the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country.””
— Joe Biden’s Last Campaign

i think it's very funny how my family has tried to get me to use my artistic skills for their scary ass religious organization. nah I rather draw half naked kinky transgender furries because I am one.

I was going to write a long response to this
and then I decided to check the context and... oh god it's about that "4th person pronoun" thing. (guys, I... okay I'll put it simply- when Marc Anthony said "Friends, romans, countrymen, lend me your ears", he was referring to the collectives "friends", "romans" and "countrymen" as nouns, yes? same deal with "chat"- it's a noun denoting the group of people in the chat at that point)
godspeed, OP, you have much more patience than me.
someone pointed out that linguistics is a scientific discipline and honestly, yeah. if someone came to a biologist saying "cats are reptiles because they have long tails" would you expect that biologist to respond with "hmm, interesting! do we conceptualize cats as being reptiles because of that feature despite all other morphological and evolutionary indications?" or "what? what the fuck? where the hell did you get that?"

local tumblr mutual distils all of machine learning into one post
The main thing I've learned from having to put together a cost-benefit analysis is that cost-benefit analyses are nearly worthless. It's just a stack of 40 different assumptions in a trenchcoat, and if one of them is wrong then the entire conclusion could be wrong. You can't even do a proper sensitivity analysis because the majority of your variables are just loose approximations to begin with

Insane to me that the biggest concern with Machine Learning immediately became about if it can produce art, and not about the hundreds of other ways these models are being implemented to make your life worse. Producing shitty stolen jpegs is probably at the bottom of the list in terms of stuff you should be angry about with this tech. It's annoying for sure, but compared to the way this tech is being used to automate surveillance and warfare... It almost doesn't even matter. The way that these algorithms need to be trained by 30-50 people to a room sweatshops in India or Silicon Valley is more disgusting than any piece of stolen art. The water usage alone is a crime. You're missing the forest for the trees, and allowing yourself to be distracted by reactionary talking points that dominate the conversation around this new technology.
