every year that goes by makes portugal’s victory back in 2017 so much more fascinating and amazing like wow, they literally landslided both juries and the televote and with how polarised the televote and jury vote is getting with every year, i struggle to see anyone beating him for a loooong time.

i mean, ukraine this year got 438 points out of a total 468 points available from televoting, and came top 5 in the juries and is still more than 120 points behind his record.

i think the thing i love the most about it is how lacklustre portugal’s results had been before 2017, and how salvador really wasn’t expected to do well at all before the rehearsals started, and even then, no one really expected him to win. and the back story with his health conditions, it really is so lovely.
