BEETROOT SEAWEED DANDELION
I looooove these designs ♥️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
assorted pikmin art (i fucking love these beasts so much)
purple's design is based on beetroots, adopting their leaf shape and having its body textured like one
white's leaf design is based on caladium plants, with pink larkspurs replacing them when bloomed
I initially wanted to draw their bodies as weirdly shaped roots like actual mandrakes have, but i'll save the idea for later

Someones been working on their ornamental garden! Can you help fill in the signs?
Take your guess in 3… 2…
1. The first one has colorful, heart-shaped leaves. Common varieties include pink and white. Its a tropical plant native to Brazil.

Here’s my guess, courtesy of
El libro de las HOJAS DISTINGUIDAS | The Book of Distinguished Leaves
Tumblr media
2. The second one is more of a challenge. It has toothed, pointed leaves, and grows as a bush.
Tumblr media
Lets get a better look at those leaves. Is she irregularly shaped, with asymmetrical lobes? Or is she just rendered that way?
Tumblr media
Theres some dappling of lighter colored marks on the leaves as well.
Tumblr media
My best guess is a hybrid of another Brazilian plant. The leaf shape is spot on, and the dappled lighter color is a nice signature.

I’m no expert though, leave your guess in the comments!

Do this in games to practice for the real world
Not to sound like a fuckin hippie but please for the love of god start noticing and appreciating the natural world around you. You don’t have to go hike the entire Appalachian trail or anything and I get that not everyone has access to the outdoors for various reasons, but just fucking … look around you when you’re outside. Notice the sky and the sun and the birds and creatures. Start caring about them. I’m begging you.

Which of these clovers tastes like a lemon?
Tumblr media
The one on the left is a white clover. There’s a LOT of varieties of both, depending on genes and their expression. Clover has 🟢 oval shaped leaves. It tastes… like dirt.
Tumblr media

However, the one on the right is an Oxalis. Oxalis has 💚 heart shaped leaves. There is also a common houseplant cultivar with purple leaves.
Tumblr media
It may not surprise you given the name, but Oxalis is high in oxalic acid, which gives the leaves a sour taste like lemon. In culinary contexts, Oxalis is often called Sorrel. I have a friend who is allergic to citrus and uses Sorrel as a replacement.

If you see sorrel growing in a flowerpot or garden, engage your BULBLAX and try a leaf!

University of Wisconsin, Dandelions
Captain Planet Foundation, Dandelion Pancake Recipe
Tumblr media
Ah, the common dandelion. Looking at it gives me a sense of ease and nostalgia.
Dandelion is one of the first to flower in spring and one of the last to go dormant in the winter.
You may think it rare to see the same plant in different stages of growth right next to each other. But, plants that get more sun will bloom earlier.
The whole dandelion is edible, but don’t just shove it all in your mouth! At the start of its life cycle, Dandelion leaves are super nutritious and even sweet, but old leaves become bitter as its flower blooms.
The roots can be used for tea. The roots have the most nutrition before the leaves have fully matured.
The yellow flower, or ‘crown’, is also edible and slightly sweet if you remove all the green bits with a twist of the hand. Both the middle one in the pic and the one on the left could be used, but avoid any missing too many petals. Dandelion crown pancakes in spring and summer give me a calm nostalgia.
Dandelions are low in calories, perhaps too low for a Pikmin. But the serotonin I get from appreciating a beautiful dandelion is immeasurable.
