I was rewatching foster home for imaginary friends which has a similar concept as HH. A halfway house used to give rejects a second chance. Something that stuck out to me the most were the props/bgs/characters designs, the art in fosters home is great, especially the props and while the character designs are simple they aren’t coated in the black and reds and blend into the bg. What I love the most was how the house is utilized and explored something HH never did. What was the point of the hotel if characters never explore or use the house in any way except to sit on couches and do nothing but react to stuff happening around them. It just makes the hotel feel really empty, while foster’s home felt alive and bombastic
True, I liked Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends too. It is disappointing that the hotel isn’t utilized well. Supposedly, the rooms changed appearance based on the guests’ preference. We’ll see what happens in season two.

A look at some of Lacy's character sheet. I'm looking forward to being able to package up all of the Season 1 character sheets for sharing later. Lots of full sheets and the development sketches behind them are available for Patrons now, though! Lackadaisy on Patreon ------------------------ Finalized design here by Julian Hughes, with contributions from Sam Kessler, Fable Siegel, and me.

Vivienne needs a redemption arc, she must overcome this obstacle that blocks from writing good stories by the name of "fan service"
That would require some introspection which I don’t think she wants to do.

I imagined a conversation like this with Valentino and Stolas where Val just goes off on him and it’s played straight would be so cathartic.

I bet that Vivziepop is gonna say "Actually Sir Pentious's tail was based on octopus tentacle"
I don't think it will happen but it won't surprise me if it did

I’m entirely convinced that Vivziepop is going to say “I vaguely based Cherri off of a hedgehog and 80s punk” when people call her out for stereotyping Australians. Seeiously though, I have no idea on what Cherri is supposed to be aside from a cyclops. Is she an insect demon? A doll demon? Who knows
Did she say something recent about Cherri?
Yeah, she knows she can say anything about the characters (even though design wise, it doesn’t make sense) and the fandom will accept it full-heartedly.

HB Season 2 mindset: Instead of letting Stolas have natural development and show some organic growth, we’re going to LOWER everyone else’s (especially Blitz and Octavia) expectations, including the audience! 👍🏾👍🏾

Newest HB Short
Tumblr media
This short had some cute and fun moments with Millie and Sallie Mae. I liked the outfit Sallie wore throughout most of it and I'm glad she got some depth. While I'm glad these characters got some more screentime, I can't help but still feel disappointed as the short doesn't give us much insight to Millie as a main character.
In the short, Sallie expressed how Millie doesn't visit home that often and thinks Millie may be ashamed to have come from Wrath. My thing is that this doesn't tie into information already established about Millie.
You would think her parents would've made similar remarks, like Sallie, about her not visiting home in the Harvest Moon episode.
Sallie also said she was left in charge of the family when Millie left but we never seen Millie have any meaningful interactions with her brothers to get a sense of what their dynamic is like.
We also don't learn anything about why Millie left Wrath in the first place. Millie just only apologized to Sallie and said she'll try to visit more.
Did she leave because she met Chaz and maybe he convinced her to move to Pride?
Did she leave because of her validation issues? Like she didn't feel appreciated by her family enough (and for some reason she didn't tell her sister this).
Small Nitpicks
Sallie took a bus from Wrath to Pride ring. What happened to the elevator as the means to travel to different rings?
Sallie made no mention of Looloo Land. You know, the place where Millie said she and her family used to go in the past. Honestly, Sallie gave off the vibes that she hasn't been anywhere else besides Wrath.
The sibling rivalry Viv mentioned in her Millie thread doesn't appear true at all. Sure, they play fight roughly and compete when playing games but that seems more of a result of them being born and raised in Wrath. If they were really sibling rivals, I don't think they would have a close bond as they do now.
Another thing about Viv's Millie thread; she listed off things about Millie, but she never mentioned anything about her validation issues or wanting to feel important. Viv has no problem explaining her characters outside the shows, like she did with Alastor. This convinced me that she was more likely making stuff up about Millie at the time.
Conclusion
This was a fun and enjoyable short. However, I'm not convinced the writers have a clear idea or direction for Millie's character that's coherent. It seems they add stuff along the way. I understand Morgana wrote this short alone, but it doesn't seem like she was given enough information about Mille to make sure things were consistent. I guess we'll see what happen in the future.

I saw this Twitter post and couldn’t agree more. When you think about it, Alastor behaves more like a realistic abuser than Valentino. Of course, this is completely unintentional by Viv since Alastor is supposed to be the favorite and quirky one. This is what happens when you make all your villains/abusers over-the-top, one-note, and super obvious bad guys. This is what also happens when there’s no established morality in the shows.
Then the fandom wants be surprised when Alastor is called evil or vile, have to keep citing potentially outdated outside sources, and Viv has to explain Alastor’s character in interviews instead of the show itself.
Like Stolas, Alastor won’t really be called out for his bad actions and the narrative will used this mysterious deal he’s in to make him sympathetic. Like Blitz, the fandom will blame Husk for the situation as he “consented” to the deal or probably say “Well he was an overlord too and he may have hurt people too”. Even though the show uses Husk’s deal to bond with Angel.

How would Lucifer get a meeting with Heaven for his daughter? And why would they agree to a meeting? I Charlie brought Vaggie. Like Lucifer could have set a army to Heaven hell, Charlie could have brought everyone at the Hotel with her. A better idea would be Heaven goes to them the place where Charlie talks to Adam.
It's all contrived and doesn't make a shit of sense. Also your explanation makes more sense.

Just came across this fanart about Val. Almost all the replies and quote tweets agreed with OP’s statement. I find it so funny and crazy that the fandom understands abuse cycles or that villains can also have trauma (when it comes to Val).
But when you say Stella is a victim of a forced arranged marriage or she could’ve suffered from trauma too (especially from her brother), you’re a Stella sympathizer, an abuser apologist, or the fandom will say things like “She doesn’t need depth” and “Some people are just born evil”.
This is not a dig at OP because what they said was valid. However, I feel this just create more sympathy for Val.

Hazbin Hotel’s take on religion and mythology feels like a bad faith argument/criticism overall. You know….the thing Viv is so against when people talk about her shows.

Murder Drones Character Alignment
I did another character alignment for Murder Drones. I’m not too sure whether Uzi should be chaotic good or neutral. Also when I think about it, I’m not sure if we truly know who Tessa is/was as a character so I just included her with Cyn.
Neutral Good: N
Lawful Neutral: Kahn
Chaotic Neutral: Uzi, V
Lawful Evil: J
Neutral Evil: Liz, Doll
Chaotic Evil: Cyn (Tessa?)
