Lian had no idea where this bar was that Zach mentioned. Not that he didn't know his way around the city, but he was just less interested in bars and clubs overall. If it hadn't been for Zach inviting him, Lian would never have known that this bar existed in the city. And above all, if it hadn't been Zach, he probably wouldn't have gone.

So Lian wanted to focus less on going to a party and more on meeting him. No matter where that would be.

[TXT]: All right. I'll try to remember to compliment the music :)

When the day of the birthday arrived, he was more nervous than he wanted to admit. But Lian didn't know exactly why that might be. The fact that he would probably be the only one at the party who only knew one of the two birthday boys? Or just one person in general? The fact that he was going to a party with Zach, which was so out of character for him?

It didn't matter. For now. That's what he told himself as he ran his fingers through his wild hair before the doorbell rang. Grabbing the two beautifully wrapped boxes that would serve as presents, Lian left his apartment and almost ran down the stairs.

Before he opened the front door, he took a deep breath.

"Hey Zach," he greeted him when he recognized the blue-haired man. "Happy birthday!" He smiled broadly, suppressing the urge to throw his arms around him. He wasn't sure what Zach might think of this, and Lian didn't want to mess it up.

"I've got something for you." Instead, he held one of the colorful boxes out to him.

He didn't know if he was nervous because he wanted Lian to say yes or maybe he simply didn't want to go there by himself. Sure, his brother would be at the party, but Zach didn't want to feel like someone was babysitting him the whole time, especially since Eric was so enthusiastic about the whole thing. If he saw his less extroverted half chilling in the corner he wouldn't be able to have fun until he forced the blue-haired guy out of his shell.

Luckily, Lian's reply sounded exactly like the version Zach was hoping for.

A ride and thus another opportunity to get to know each other better. Until then, Conláed had time to think about the mysterious fae figure who called himself Maverick.

He was still not entirely comfortable with him, but for now the prince did not want to dwell on this single thought and was even pleased when they met again a few days later.

This time Maverick was alone, without his people, and it was interesting to see him in ordinary clothes, the royal pomp removed. It made him less intimidating somehow.

"I'm glad you had the time to come here," the prince smiled at him and stepped forward, welcoming him inside the castle. "We've provided you with a room, assuming you don't want to leave again tonight. How was the journey here?"

"Oh my, you sound quite disappointed," he teased. As Conláed spoke, Maverick listened attentively, his gaze unwavering. He appreciated the prince's honesty and the glimpse into his royal responsibilities. It all sounded much too familiar, but he hoped that the other did not stress himself out too much.

"I would be the best person to understand the obligations that come with being part of a royal family," Maverick replied, his voice gentle yet firm. "And I respect the importance of your role. But amidst those responsibilities, it's crucial to find moments of respite and connection. Otherwise, we get cranky and act out. Right?"

He took a step closer, his eyes meeting Conláed's as he continued, "a ride through the countryside sounds enchanting. We could leave the weight of expectations behind for a while. I would be honored to join you and witness the beauty of your realm beyond palace borders." He stroked his chin in deep thought. "Should we be in disguise as normal subjects? I'd hate to draw attention to ourselves."
