Adopt, don’t shop! Clowns like Lolly need your help.
Lolly!
Hey Folks!
I just picked up my neighbor’s scare mix and good golly, he’s so sweet! His name is Lolly, and he’s much shyer than I had anticipated. He’s curled up on the couch right now, and I’m waiting a bit before introducing him to Caroline. He’s never shown signs of aggression towards other clowns, but better safe than sorry.
Unbeknownst to me, Lolly was actually a stray that my neighbors adopted from the shelter. He has some minor scarring from fights with other wild clowns, and has a good chunk of his left ear missing. To top it all off, the poor boy is entirely mute – slashed vocal chords from his time on the streets. Nevertheless he is a sweet and gentle scare mix.
I’m starting to think he might be a pierrot-scare mix – his color pallet is black, gold, white, and a washed-out navy, which is more indicative to pierrot than any scare I’ve seen. His bells are also particularly ornate for some other mix like a white face or a big top. Just some speculation.
I’m planning on making trips between my house and the neighbor’s, since his circus tent is too big to move into my apartment for the time being. I’m hoping he and Caroline get along, and maybe even put on a few co-operative shows for me! Time will only tell.
I’ll update soon when they get introduced! I might be able to photograph them together and post that too, if anyone’s interested.
Wouldn’t a clown husbandry magazine be great? What would the best title for it be? Leave your ideas in the comments, and try this poll! (I don’t know how to put a live poll in my posts.)
I called clown husbandry a creative movement. I also got my article about it approved into a serious community for pets, under “exotic pets”. What do you think?
