If a book is new, it smells great. If a book is old, it smells even better.

Pride Month Reads | List
Tumblr media
Fun fact, if you search for 'pride month' on Google, a confetti of flags will shower down on the screen of your laptop. It's June once again, meaning Pride Month. Why should you care? Pride Month is actually celebrated to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots, a movement where people fought for equality for the LGBTQ+.
It honestly breaks my heart that people have to create an uprising just to have equal rights and be treated with respect. Pride, rather than shame and societal stigma, is actually the dominating attitude that fuels most LGBT rights initiatives.
So, in celebration of this year's Pride Month, I've come up with two lists - this being the first. Often times, people don't pick up books with LGBTQ representation, because "they can't find good recommendations". Well, say no more. If you like to read sci-fi/fantasy, then here are seven (7) books I'm sure you'll enjoy!
Starting off with The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri. This is a narrative set in an India-inspired country in which a kidnapped princess and a maidservant with forbidden powers become unlikely friends on a deadly adventure to preserve their realm from the princess's traitorous brother. I've read the ARC and it's an amazing epic fantasy!
The First Sister by Linden A. Lewis, a novel about discovering your voice and selecting your allegiance A narrative about individuals who understand their civilization is damaged and must determine how to fix it. A story about downtrodden individuals struggling to live in a cosmos that, for one reason or another, thinks less of them. It's very informative, especially with rape culture and sexual assault.
The Unbroken by C.L. Clark. Touraine and Luca are two key characters who struggle to put down a revolt and bring peace between the colonizers and the rebels. At its core, the book explores serious topics such as colonialism, self-hatred, internalized racism, and so on via a captivating North African-inspired military-fantasy novel. It's beautiful, it feels so rewarding reading this.
Crier's War by Nina Varela is set in a different future in which alchemists have created mechanical beings known as Automaes who now reign over humanity. The earth is now a terribly dangerous place to live for people who survived the battle, and they have very few rights. If you want sapphic enemies to lovers who *actually* wants to kill each other, then try this one.
Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo. A historical novel set in 1950s San Francisco that focuses on lesbian culture and a Chinese American's coming of age? In a period rife with change and turmoil, the neon lights of the Telegraph Club, a lesbian club, provide a haven for those in need.
Then we have Winter's Orbit by Everina Maxwell. Nothing can go wrong with a last-minute planned marriage between a king and an envoy days before a treaty that depends on their happy marriage... Well. While romance might not be the forefront of Winter's Orbit, its has a dramatic trip through interplanetary politics, interpersonal difficulties, and a murder conspiracy!
Last but not least, Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. The rise and fall of Simon Snow is a ghost story, a love story, and a mystery all rolled into one. It includes all the kissing and chatting you'd expect from a Rainbow Rowell narrative, but with a lot more monsters. Basically, Harry Potter but gayer!
Well, there you go! I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Beyond The Shore And Shadows - Chantal Gadoury
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Beyond The Shore And Shadows by Chantal Gadoury is the second book in the Lena series. It keeps up right where book one ended. Lena has to flee from Lord Jarl and finds refuge at the Bror Boghandel. But this evil man has his ways.. He's able to turn the villagers against Lena and Soren so they have to run away. Will they escape Lord Jarl or will he get them and the Magiske Skal?
Beyond The Shore And Shadows is a fantastic sequel! It's super suspenseful and has the right mix of adventure, drama and romance! After reading Between The Sea And Stars I couldn't wait to continue the series and I wasn't disappointed! I absolutely love Lena and Soren and I was sooo happy to get to know them better and see their relationship grow. Reading this series just makes me happy!

Between The Sea And Stars - Chantal Gadoury
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Between The Sea And Stars by Chantal Gadoury is the first book in the Lena series. It's about Lena, a merrow who lives in the deep sea with her brother and father. She longs to see the world above oen day, but she's scared Poseidon will punish her for it. One day she gets the chance to cross the surface and see humans, but her fear was right. She's banned from the sea and has to build up a new live among humans. Will she settle in or will she forever be an outsider?
Between The Sea And Stars is by far the best mermaid book I've ever read! It's suspenseful, funny and romantic in it's own way. Once I've started reading I just couldn't stop! I can recommend this book to everyone who loves mermaid stories!

🎬 Book You Want to Be a Movie/TV Show
CIRQUE DU FREAK BY DARREN SHAN. I want this to a be a TV show that goes in order with the books, unlike the movie.
🏹 Favorite Fantasy Book
This one is hard, but one of my favorite fantasy books is Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede. I’ve read it 3 times and it’s so great. You’ve got rebellious princesses, talking dragons, cool witches, dumb princes, evil wizards, and FOOD.
Thank you for the asks! I love doing these!
