part 1. txt masterlist. main masterlist.
The air felt thicker— heavier.
The both of you stood there facing each other. You couldn't bring yourself to look at him.
Wonwoo was right, you can't ignore Beomgyu forever.
“Beomgyu, can we please talk about this some other time?” You said louder, your voice being drowned out by the crowd that was cheering for the band playing on stage.
Frustration was evident on your face and your voice sounded tired.
He took a step closer towards you, he tried reaching for your hand but hesitated when he saw you hug yourself. His eyes searched yours for the nth time that night.
Beomgyu knows you, or at least— he thinks he does.
He couldn't understand why you were distancing yourself— or maybe he did and he just ignored it. He, himself, couldn't even understand how he felt.
“Y/N, please.”
You finally looked up at him. He had desperation written all over him.
He finally got a good look at you for the first time after weeks. Your eyes were cloudy, tired. Your face looked sullen.
Despite that, he still thought you looked beautiful. He hates himself for even thinking of it while you stood there in front of him with that look on your face.
Disappointment? Hurt? Sadness? Anger?
For the first time, he couldn't read you. It felt like you were too far for him to reach.
Your heart ached seeing him search your face for answers, but you're doing this to protect yourself from hurting even further.
“What do you even want to know? There's nothing I can tell you.” You said, your voice in the brink of cracking.
Beomgyu never felt like there was a wall between the both of you, but now he does.
“Why have you been avoiding me? Did I do something wrong?” He asked you, fingers reaching for your cheeks but you moved your head away from him.
“Tell me, Y/N.” His voice slowly failing him.
“Please...”
“Are you guys ready? Let me hear you scream!” The lead singer of the band said through the mic. The crowd cheered as the band built up the music.
A bitter laugh escaped your lips, “No, you didn't. You didn't do anything wrong.”
“Then, what? What did I do for you to resent me so much that you decided that ignoring me felt like that was the best solution there is?”
The frustration and hurt you've been feeling the past few weeks finally caught up to you, tears were threatening to escape your eyes.
Beomgyu tried to reach for you again, but you moved away from him.
“Stop. Don't. Touch me.”
He felt a pang in his chest when he heard you. Something he hasn't felt with you, until now. His lips parted to say something but his own words failed him, nothing came out of his mouth.
You stared at him.
You know that he knows. What's the use of saying it out loud?
The cheers for the band were becoming louder as they continued playing.
He looked like a hurt puppy standing in front of you.
You hated feeling this, you hated feeling guilty for something you weren't supposed to be guilty about.
“You really want to know why, Gyu?”
He looked at you.
That was the first time you've called him that in weeks, he realized. But why does it hurt hearing you say it?
Tears finally fell from your eyes, one after the other. Your fingers clutching on the cloth of your dress as you felt your chest tighten.
“I love you.”
Fireworks finally lit up the sky, the band was still playing and the crowd were in awe as they sang along— watching the colorful display that hovered over their heads.
