Jiminy Deimos is getting attention again so I guess I should do an update

First off thanks for the interest and the well wishes! I am still alive and if you think 2014 was a long time ago those photos are actually mostly from 2011 💀

I haven't posted anything cosplay in a while because yanno covid kinda screwed up the convention scene and also I moved ~300 miles in 2020 and have been focusing on getting a stable job and I FINALLY GOT A WRITTEN WORK PUBLISHED and all that but coincidentally like two days ago I was looking into 2023 cons, particularly Boston based, to start breaking into the scene again!

Deimos needs a little bit of work since I last cosplayed him (Katsucon 2020) and I'm thinking of making a post-purgatory variation as well as updating his regular look. I'm also working on a few new characters I haven't cosplayed including Alpha-5 from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (the show turns 30 in 2023!), Cobra Commander from GI Joe: A Real American Hero (my latest hyperfixation that I've been posting a lot about on my main blog and that show turns 40 in 2023!), the Puppet/Marionette from Five Nights at Freddy's, and Dr. Herbert West from Re-Animator (couple cosplay with my real life partner who is the Sanford in my Madness photos as Dan)

I will post more info as I confirm which cons I'll be going to and when I get done with the cosplays, but don't worry, Madness fans, I still have Deimos and he will still make appearances! Alpha and Cobra Commander are taking precedence for the coming year however for their respective significance in my life and their shows as a whole

What year did you start cosplaying

Hey a question that's not about Deimos or Batter

I guess I cosplayed before this time, but I didn't really consider it, so I usually put the mark around 2007-2008 when I started going to conventions. I meant to go back and revamp Tetsuo from AKIRA (my first big convention cosplay), but I lost my attachment for it so it's an oh well

It's a veritable variety show over there tbh. I got serious cosplay, goofy cosplay, real life shenanigans, fursuits, etc.!

My name over there is smolandfighty and I don't have a lot up just yet, but I'm working on it! The format is very easy for me to pick up and focus on, so I'm able to make more content more quickly!

Hey, everyone! I know it's been forever since I've posted any content on this blog, but I noticed there was some recent attention on my Deimos cosplay, which reminded me that the Madness Combat community is still alive on the internet.

I've already made a Batter character blog that's gained some mild popularity with the OFF community, so I was wondering if anyone would be interested to see a Deimos blog as well? I could answer questions, make videos, occasionally bring in my Sanford, etc. so would that be something you would like to see?

Hiya! Could I ask where you got the pieces for your Batter from OFF cosplay? (And the bat if it's not too much to ask). ^^

Hello! I put together my Batter cosplay from Amazon (shirt and hat), Sports Authority (cleats, pants, and belt), and smooth black tights with knee high black socks underneath that I already had kicking around. The bat and undershirt came from Walmart (I used flat white spray paint for the bat because it was black). I got most of the stuff super cheap and/or clearance so I ended up not spending a fortune on it (which is always a plus) and all the pieces are extremely comfortable to wear.Thanks so much for the question!

I can't believe I pulled this off in time! A lifelong dream cosplay finally a reality! I was only able to finish the front but that was okay for Halloween. I have plenty of time to do the back/any props (I really wanna do the kite 😍)

I know I don’t post much on here anymore (Instagram has eaten me tbh I’m much more active on there) but here are a few cosplays I have in the works!

1. Hermann Gottlieb from Pacific Rim (hopefully to be debuted at Derpycon this November with my friend @lunar-monster‘s Newt cosplay) - I know how to make it; I’m just having a lot of trouble finding a shirt to match his in my size and price range. I’m also not enthusiastic about having to paint all the lines on his sweater vest @_@

2. Carnage from Marvel comics (hopefully to be debuted sometime during the 2019 con season) - I have been wanting to do this for a very long time. Along with the XME version of Pyro and #3 on this list, this has been a dream cosplay since I was a kid and now I know exactly how to make it happen

3. Tom Skelton from The Halloween Tree (the skeleton kid in the middle) - This is going to be done for Halloween next week! This is another one I’ve wanted to do forever but put off because no one would recognize it. Now I don’t care if no one recognizes it. I love this movie to pieces and I’m gonna show the world what it means to me

4. Hitoshi Shinso from Boku no/My Hero Academia - I’m going minimal effort here for making this happen (I’m buying a premade cosplay and dying my hair purple) but going full in character for when I debut this at Anime NYC

5. Torras from Tron (not pictured because she’s an OC and I can’t draw) - I’ve learned from @the-wonderful-corey that cosplaying an OC is actually the coolest thing ever and so I’ve decided that Torras will be the first one I do! I’m hoping to have her done by Katsucon to meet up with some other Tron cosplayers

After Torras, I have at least one other OC cosplay planned: a character from a fantasy screenplay I’m working on where a girl gets dropped into a parallel world where magic is prominent blah blah blah she meets this guy (the guy I’ll be cosplaying) who has been cursed to be a living wind up doll. I’ve seen working wind up keys in Halloween stores so I’ll be altering one of those and making another beat up/bloody character yaaaaaaay

I also have another fursuit in progress, but that’s another post entirely

Too much piled up :(

Unfortunately, HIM Sinestro won't make it to Kinda!Con this year due to too many assignments for this week (I have to file my fafsa, apply for an internship, write a paper, etc. etc.) and this leaves no time to finish the cosplay. He will absolutely be at CPAC though.

Instead, I will hold a short term voting contest on my instagram for who should show up on Sunday out of these characters:
