You remember that post about the homestuck t-shirt design contest collaborating with hot topic? And how Hot Topic are the biggest art thieves?  This is recent.  As you can see above, I stumbled upon Hot Topic’s website and they are selling a very popular fan art put on a t-shirt, and did not ask permission from the original artist (rismo).

This shows Hot Topic still continues their art thievery.  Hot Topic are still taking art from artists without their permission.  This is disrespectful and appalling.

Bladeless wind turbines generate electricity by shaking, not spinning

Scientists hope to hugely reduce the cost of wind energy by removing the blades from wind farms, instead taking advantage of a special phenomenon to cause the turbines to violently shake.

Vortex, a startup from Spain, has developed the tall sticks known as Bladeless — white poles jutting out of the ground, that are built so that they can oscillate. They do so as a result of the way that the wind is whipped up around them, using a phenomenon that architects avoid happening to buildings and encouraging it so that the sticks shake.

They do so using vortices, which is where the company gets its name from. The bladeless turbines use special magnets to ensure that the turbines are optimised to shake the most they can, whatever speed the wind is travelling at.

As the sticks vibrate, that movement is converted into electricity by an alternator.

I’m severely disabled and I need some urgent help with $810 in payments for home care / patient transport / other essentials. This has to be raised by 5pm Friday AEST / 3am Friday EST before bank closing time.

(Edited and condensed). As many of you know, I’m physically disabled from an accident and can’t sit up or walk at all. There’s evidence of my condition on @fundraiser-evidence. This obviously has a huge impact on how I manage my day to day life and I require assistance frequently, esp. wrt cleaning (approx $30/hr) and stretcher transport ($200/week instalments for invoices of abt $2000 per specialist appointment). I can’t afford these with $336/week social security payments and I’m asking for some help.

I’ve posted about this previously but I didn’t manage to get enough donations, so this post is just to re-iterate the amounts left to raise at this stage. There’s evidence of my condition on @fundraiser-evidence.

The expenses over the next two days add up to $810 and this needs to be raised within the next four hours because the bank stops transfers after 5PM today (Or 3am Fri NYC time). This is the list of payments I have to make over the weekend: - $196 to make up for urgent payments yesterday that were funded from savings for bond (i.e. it would be going back in to my bond savings that will help me to relocate to live closer to my doctors’ practices) - $74 for cleaning/assistance and laundry today - $150 for approx. 5 hrs of home care over the weekend - $90 for general purchases (e.g. food, blanket) - $200 paramedic transport invoice instalment. - $100 in instalments for invoices from previous home care agencies.

While these services are obviously really expensive, they’re absolutely essential in my situation. If I don’t get home care, it’d be impossible to maintain a basic level of cleanliness and dignity. If I don’t keep paying my paramedic invoice instalments, I lose access to transport; this could leave me stranded in a dangerous environment if I meet someone who mistreats me for being disabled… which has happened on 3 times in the past 12 months. It’s been difficult to get enough donations this week and I’m concerned that I won’t be able to access these essential services.
