WHY are there not more love potion fics for Ouran. Why. There's literally a black magic club in the school in canon shhhh I don't care whether canon thinks there is actual magic or not the point is there COULD be and with that cast???? And LOVE POTION dynamics???? There are so many different routes you could go with that literally why aren't y'all writing them I have found ONE.

For Tamakyo alone there are so many routes! Literally here are some off the top of my head

Angst fic bc Tamaki gets love potioned and is all over Kyoya and Kyoya doesn't know how to deal with it bc when it's all over they're back to the way they always were (could very easily get do a metaphor thing and basically get an episode of Ouran out of it)

Fake out angst fic with the same premise but the love potion wasn't real and everyone (including Tamaki) just thought it was but when it's over they go back to the way things always were until it comes out that the love potion wasn't real and Tamaki's like "wait a fucking second"

Crack fic where Kyoya gets love potioned and it doesn't change anything about his behavior bc his feelings are already so strong and Tamaki's like "wtf" (not bc he wanted his best friend to be drugged bc that would be horrifying but bc honest to god his first thought would be 'i am supposed to be fawned over rn why is he not in love with me' he would be so offended tell me I'm wrong)

Something absolutely horrifying because love potions are not consent dude (but also rape for the sake of rape is not cute if you're gonna take that route make it emotionally intelligent please and thank you and WARNING LABELS USE WARNING LABELS DUBCON NONCON WHATEVER IT IS) bc let's be honest if a love potion made someone forceful that would fucking rock the foundation of their friendship and hoo boy would there be fallout

So I’m well known as the gay ouran math bitch with the cool and hot wife. But I myself haven’t done any math to earn that title. So this is my contribution to the autistic- I mean Ouran community.

So the first question we have to answer is what the birth order of the hosts is. This is a lot easier than one would think, since we have all their birthdays and the Japanese school year lasts from April 1st-March 31st on average. From there, we can plot out the hosts from oldest to youngest, like so:

Our next step is figuring out the year in which Ouran takes place. The Manga ran from 2003-2011, which leaves a lot of ground to tread. But luckily, Hunny being born on a leap year reduces our options from 8 to 2; 2006 and 2010. 2006 also overlaps with the Anime, so it’s my personal favorite.

But I did make a graph for 2010 as well.

And for the brave souls who do not care about canon and want to feel really old by using our current year as a starting point, it can be done with some changes. The major change being that Hunny would have to be born a day earlier or later since 2005 wasn’t a leap year. Also Kyoya is still 16 as it stands and won’t turn the correct age for the start of the manga until later this year.

And that’s all I’ve got for you, hope you enjoyed and I’m praying to god that my math doesn’t lead to public humiliation ❤️✌️

I would like to point out that technically Bisco did not think through their birth years very well lol, because in the manga when she is naming Honey's birthday, shes like 'well since he's born in February I guess he isn't the oldest anymore. oops' due to the fact that, in Japan, your grade is decided by your age. As in, you have to be 'exactly this old' by March and that determines your grade, with some leeway after you get in there if you end up skipping or being held back a grade. Since Honey was born in February, he would either have to be born the year after Mori or be held back a grade, and Bisco didn't like the idea of holding him back.

Shout out to the crazy bastard who wrote "Kidnapping 101" in 2014. I originally read it on FFN like 4 years ago but I just found it reposted on AO3 (!!!!!!!!!) and honestly? Really popped off with that one.

It's written in first person, which I usually viscerally hate for fandoms that don't present characters in first person because you don't know what that character sounds like in their head!! But it works because it's an OC - and normally I lose interest in MC OCs in fanfic because the world generally tends to get warped around them to put them in the center and that's not fun, but this OC actually ends up warping to deal with the world's bullshit and it is great.

Also it just has this line that I quote regularly to this day

Why I Absolutely Cannot Stand TamaHaru as an Ouran Manga Reader

Shoutout to this post I made a while back, we're finally delving into the second half of my argument lol

I feel like I'm gonna get some heat for this but I mean this completely in good faith to the shippers, because y'all are people. And honestly? Since there are so many of you, I would genuinely appreciate hearing your (polite) responses because I really don't understand. Here's my (anti-TamaHaru) perspective:

Ok, so TamaHaru always seemed a bit bland to me in the anime. It was fine if it had to happen, I guess, but it always seemed like the other characters were a lot more excited about it than the actual couple, and it just kind of seemed like their energies and life plans didn't align? They don't even end up kissing by the end of the anime, and they were the main ship and a straight couple. If they wanted to kiss, wouldn't they have kissed? And I mean, yeah, there was that whole bit where everyone was like "wow, Haruhi's dad is just like Tamaki" (which seems like some sort of weird relationship complex in and of itself), but Tamaki had a tendency to get excited about shit Haruhi just complained about, and I... is it really worth it at that point?

(Especially when Kyoya and Mori are right there. Come on dude, Kyoya is absolutely willing to have Tamaki's back every step of the way for whatever interests he wants to pursue and Tamaki designates him as the teammate in the family, and don't even get me started on whatever was going on between Haruhi and Mori in the waterpark episode. I want more of that shit. But that's a topic for another time.)

Feel free to give me your arguments on this too (kindly, please), but I feel like most of it that I've seen is "they'll grow together"/"they're equally stupid and that's cute"/"he just loves her so much"/"they're so aesthetic" and none of these have ever really held water for me because it doesn't really seem to negate the lack of chemistry I've observed...

So in the manga, my experience was basically all my fears were confirmed and then some, and we quickly spiraled into downright emotional abuse and partner-to-partner hatred????

Here are some examples

Haruhi's reaction to the realization that she loves Tamaki (Volume 13)

Literally the first example of body dysmorphia we've ever gotten from Haruhi (directly contradicting her body-positive/neutral quotes from volume 3), along with a very convenient example of Tamaki's (NOW CONFIRMED ROMANTIC) infantilization of Haruhi that y'all already know because it is present since the start of the series (the thing is this wouldn't even be an issue if it was directed at a friend as a "we have a family bond and I want to feel like I'm taking care of you" as he does with the twins and not to someone who he wants to be his life partner....) (Volume 13)

Haruhi's thoughts on the possibility of dating Tamaki (Volume 13)

The fact that the Dream Haruhi plotline has ground to stand on?????? Since when has it been okay to fantasize that your supposed other half is a completely different person when it comes to an actual romantic relationship? Shit like this is okay until it starts affecting other people, and the fact Haruhi has already shown dysmorphia because she cares about whether or not Tamaki wants to date her and then this shit happens makes me very uncomfy down to my bones. (Volume 14)

This isn't something particularly heinous between these two, but it is yet another egregious example of how they always just completely miss each other's vibes, which I personally don't really like in my power couples (Volume 15)

I'm just saying, if I realized my girlfriend thought these things about me I would be justifiably upset (Volume 15)

Ok I understand the tendency of the host club to jokingly threaten violence (read: Kyoya when he wakes up and both of the twins) but this is both completely unwarranted and oddly genuine what the fuck :D (Volume 15)

It's ok guys she's rethinking it because he fell asleep in the club room :D (she never apologizes to him by the way)

And then they spend the rest of the series overcoming external obstacles and living happily ever after

And this is their first date. I don't feel like depicting it in its entirety because my back hurts now but rest assured Tamaki acting like Tamaki pisses Haruhi off more than once <3 (Volume 18)

In summary I've only ever seen them act like this with each other I like both of their characters but these chapters genuinely almost convinced me to hate them they are so bad for each other just date someone else just date someone else p l e a s e
