As Númenor was so prominently portrayed in the last episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power I think it is a good opportunity to post an old map of mine of said island. This map was also used in the book 'Tolkien et les sciences'.

This is the map for Wendlyn, and it makes no sense whatsoever. What the hell are those vertical lines around those massive raised areas? Can someone ask sjm to show me a fucking geographical feature where the Earth is just… raised a few kilometres with what may or may not be a large body of water in them? Like how in the hell are we supposed to know what those things are? And the source for the city of rivers, where is the elevation required to reach the sea?
The city of rivers was described as covering an island. So that entire bit of land where the dot is? That’s the entire city. Which is about 5 times bigger than Varese - and mind you, fae have trouble reproducing so it would make so much more sense if the bloody human cities were bigger.
Don’t even get me started on the position of that naval port.
It looks like a map made by someone with no idea of how geography works, has no idea how their world works and no idea how to create a decent world. Great job, sjm.

Map of the continent of Erilea from the Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas
I have a real love-hate relationship with this book series. I really struggled with the first few books, especially with Celaena, but then along came Manon, Elide, Lysandra, and Aedion who collectively stole my heart out from under me. Now after finishing Empire of Storms I’m sitting here drawing maps of the continents, and looking forward to hanging out with Chaol and Nesryn again in Tower of Dawn. <3

“MAP OF PRYTHIAN”
Tumblr media
Just my semirealistic take on the map of Prythian from ACOTAR series.
I rendered the map in Inkarnate and post-processed it in Medibang. The resolution is kinda high so it looks blurred when zoomed out😩
