OH SHI--
Tumblr media
It's the ilichil number for me 😍😍😍
but in seriousness, i'm very thankful about you guys despite my lack of updates in like half a year and an unexpected hiatus all of a sudden. i rly apologize for that esp those who are reading my jeno series. no worries though, by the time i finished my finals ((which is like 6 pending, art school can be rly time demanding, and art school finals are wild af)) hopefully chapter 4 will be fleshed out as well. however, in the meantime, i've actually made drafts for one shots so i'll procide some sneakpeaks:
Most people wouldn't believe that resurrection is impossible, others believed it doesn't exist. To the most holy, it is sacrilege. For who would dare to disturb the peace that comes with death? Who would dare intervene with what comes naturally with life?
-jaehyun x reader, necromancy!au
Seasons remain unchanged. They remain constant. To Jaemin, that's how things should always be.
-jaemin x reader, lovers to exes!au
"You aren't wrong to feel that way, though. It's not like things would get any better when you go back to being friends anyway."
-renjun x reader, exes to lovers!au
Okay na sana, kung hindi ka lang kasi matakutin na tao. Pero dahil mahal mo si Jaemin, sino ka ba para tanggihin siya.
-jaemin x reader, filo!au
look i kno its says 12 drafts but like bear with me djhsbsb the other ones are like just concepts
but still, i still couldnt believe the 100 follower count, thank you so much!!!

Tumblr media
You didn’t know what transpired before the incident. You’ve been so focused on the performance that you didn’t notice how near you were at the end of the stage, and worst of all, you were at the back so it’s not like your members would notice immediately.
The moment you crashed to the ground was when the staff rushed after you. The pain that came from crashing from your side made you cry in pain. You were being escorted off the ground, being careful not to put pressure to the pain. You gripped your arm, gritting your teeth as the sharp feeling of knives ran through the arm.
But it wasn’t the pain that caused your eyes to tear up, but the guilt that’s creeping up inside you. One of the worst feelings that an idol could feel is being responsible for a performance being disrupted, and you hated that feeling. You felt bad to your members who continued to perform as you were whisked away to the back, to be tended by the medics.
At the backstage, your legs wouldn’t stop fidgeting, and your hands started to sweat. You await anxiously for your members, and preparing yourself to be scolded by one of the managers for what happened.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚
ミ★  Mark. Unaware of the incident, Mark was confused when you were missing from the stage. He tried asking the members discreetly about your whereabouts, but it wasn’t until Chenle approached him, terrified. He was about to ask the younger what was wrong until he told him what happened to you. Mark wanted to run backstage to see you, but he knows he has to stay and thank the fans first, even with his legs feeling like jelly after hearing the incident. As a leader, he needs to make sure that no member is unsafe, and it’s agonizing for him that he couldn’t do anything to prevent it from happening. Backstage, Mark finds you huddled at a chair, a cast wrapped on your arm. He doesn’t know if he’s going to crowd you any further, since both Jaemin and Renjun already rushed to you faster than anything. He stayed next to you, though, making sure to comfort you when you felt as if you ruined everything. “No, (Y/N), I’m just glad that you’re safe now.” Mark would reassure you that you didn’t ruin everything and tells you that what’s important is your well-being. And maybe, talk to the managers and staff to make sure this never happens again.
ミ★ Renjun. He didn’t hesitate to be the first one to fuss over you. Renjun is most sensitive when it comes to your feelings, and he would almost cry seeing the cast around your arm. He made it easier for you to open up to him about how angry and stupid you feel, the guilt that you were feeling when you let them down, and how scared you were at the thought of disappointing your fans for your mistake. He would listen to you, but he isn’t going to let you feel that way. Renjun was relieved that you were able to open up to him about your feelings, but it still pains him that he couldn’t do anything to easen your mind about what happened. It would mark a horrible experience in your life. But with the immense support you have with your members, you would find yourself to be okay in the future. Renjun would make sure of it. Side note: Haechan would make a comment about how Renjun is your local therapist, but he wouldn’t say that with the latter in the room with him.
ミ★ Jeno.  Panic and immense worry is the only thing in his mind when Chenle broke the news about your well-being. Jeno couldn't imagine how you devasted you would be, and he hopes that the injury isn't threatening enough to cost you your career. When he asked you about your condition, you told him that your broke your arm from the fall, but the medics told you that it's not bad enough that'll put you into a long hiatus. He felt himself ease in relief, but is still worried about you. “You should rest, let us handle the rest.” Jeno thinks that you are going to have to rely on them, and that’s okay. He’s not going to let any of his team suffer, whether it is mentally or physically. You would need a lot of convincing though, but eventually you will have to, since you have every members’ support for your recovery no matter what.
ミ★ Haechan. Getting injured is one of the worst feelings an idol could ever imagine. Haechan knows that pretty well, since he's seen his hyungs who had to go on a hiatus because of their health. He cares about your health, but he also doesn't want you to go to a hiatus for an indefinite period of time. You expressed to him before that you hated it if you're going to miss out on any activities Dream has, so you've made sure to keep yourself healthy at all times. So to see you feel so frustrated, angry at your mistake, he felt the need to cheer you up. "It's okay, (Y/N), you're going to be up in no time. You're damn strong to let anything injure you badly." whether you think he was joking or not doesn't matter, because he knows it to himself that he's right, and even slightly, you're able to crack a smile after that.
ミ★ Jaemin. He was the one that didn’t hesitate to run backstage as fast as he could to find you. Just like Renjun, he would fuss over you the moment he sees you. He would almost scold you, but after seeing your dejected expresion, he held his tongue. It was not the best time to make your mood any worst when you’re already beating yourself up for injuring yourself. He would become your helper if you needed something, since your other arm is out of commission for a while. Out of all the members, he can truly relate because of his injury at the past, so he understands how you would be worried about what’s going to come next. But he doesn’t mind taking care of you, if it meant for you speedy recovery and having you back in performances again.
ミ★ Chenle.  He was next to you at the back when you fell. Chenle could’ve sworn that you were just next to him, until you were not. He saw your misstep that leads you into falling, which caused him to stop dancing, not knowing what to do. Should he go to you or should he continue performing to remain professional? It wasn’t until he sees Jisung looking at him with confusion that he had to remain professional despite what he witnessed. He has a frazzled expression during the performance, praying for it to be over. When the performance finished, he was the one that told the group what happened. The moment the group returned backstage and reunited with your injured form, he kept his distance from you to not crowd you. Although, another reason is that he was guilty that he couldn’t do anything to help you especially since he saw the incident in the first place. You and his hyungs reassured him for being professional despite being terrified for you. "It was my stupidness that led me to this," you would sheepishly say, but Chenle is going to argue with you if that comes out of your mouth. But at least the both of you are able to be at ease since he knows that you are now okay.
ミ★ Jisung. He was confused when you were missing at the performance and how frazzled Chenle is, who is looking back and forth at the back of the stage and the audience. He would go to his best friend, only for him to shut down any kind of thought when he was told about your unfortunate incident and your unknown condition as of the moment. He could only feel his arm being pulled backstage. Jisung was brought back to the time when he injured his knee and how he couldn’t participate in shows and performances, and he doesn’t want to imagine you being missing, too. While he wouldn’t fuss over you as much as Renjun and Jaemin will, he would keep out a look out for you, although subtlely. He doesn’t want you to tease him when he takes care of you.

You should be lucky that you are to marry the prince. Selected amongst the aristocrat's daughters, you were the subject of ire among the noble ladies and their mothers for you have taken away their chance of living with the royal family. However, it's not like you were at fault for this. The prince was the one who would be choosing his bride, and it just so happened that he chose you.
You figured that you were chosen only because he was your childhood friend. Your classmate when your father, an esteemed scholar, is his private tutor and would bring you with him. It blossomed into a pure friendship between you and Jeno, as you started to see him as something more as you spend time with him. You didn't mean to fall for the prince, knowing that he is out of your league and your desire to sail across the seas.
You were asked to go home by your parents, who informed you about you being a candidate for marriage. It isn't until four days after your return that you were told that you'd be marrying Jeno. Despite probably losing the chance to travel the world again, you didn't mind as it would mean you'll be back with the man who has your heart again. Your only worry is whether he'd feel the same, or he merely chose you because you were the most familiar to him.
When you opened your eyes from losing yourself to your thoughts, Jeno's orbs strike you first. His hands, which were holding yours gently, are burning with warmth like the times when you'd relax before the fireplace with him. After being away from him for so long, your stomach churns when he looks at you nonchalantly. As if the Jeno you knew from your childhood is locked away, and the Jeno who would be the future king remained.
Amidst the silent audience and your heart thumping hard, the priest began to speak, "Will you take crown prince Lee Jeno, of the Lee kingdom, as your lawful husband, to be faithful to him in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love him and to honor him all the days of your life?"
Jeno’s throat lumped, a sign that he’s feeling nervous that he’s carried on from his childhood. He changed so much, but his mannerisms are still there. When his eyes challenged you to say something, your hands shook unconsciously. Is it the fear that he would resent you for leaving him, or is it that despite knowing him the best out of all the candidates, you now remained a stranger to him?
But it’s rude to keep the guests waiting when the marriage arrangement lies on both you and Jeno’s shoulders. The royal family does not care about your history with him and how your relationship stands in the present. The kingdom needs a king and his queen, and an heir you must give. With the remaining resolve, you have left on your soul, you opened your mouth.
“I do.”
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚
Exhausted from the party after your wedding, you retreated to what’s supposedly your shared quarters with your newly-wedded husband. Jeno let you rest first when you felt dizzy from the constant attention amongst the royals and nobility. You shredded off from your wedding gown with the help of your chambermaids, preferring to down a long-sleeved nightgown that pools under your feet. The climate is eerily cold outside, which is expected from the kingdom. However, you spent most of your late teens up until your adult life in different climates. It'll take you a while to adjust back to your hometown's usual weather.
You believe that there would be raised eyebrows when you were missing during the reception, but you trust Jeno and your personal advisor Renjun to speak on your behalf. Ever since he found out about your past with your husband at the fitting rooms, he fussed at you constantly, but it was subtle. He knows how much you detest attention from the judging eyes of the nobility. You were most surprised by Jeno when he urged you to leave when you expressed being overwhelmed around people. Yet, he still regarded you with nothing but nonchalance. Not even acknowledgment.
You sat on the bed, waiting for the prince and the reception to finish. You had to talk to him, about your future with him, and the duties that come with being the princess consort. After all, he needed to know how much exploring meant to you.
Would Jeno resent you for leaving when he needed you the most? For not making the effort to rekindle the friendship you once had with him? You shook off your thoughts. You certainly did not want to think bad about Jeno when he's the one who's been hurting for a long time.
It was back when you were on the other side of the world. When news broke that the king and queen passed away from an assassination attempt from the rebels, your heart dropped thinking of what Jeno was going through. Despite the strictness of both his parents, he had a very close relationship with them and cared about them deeply. Your father wrote to you weeks later that Jeno was so adamant about crushing the rebel forces for what they have done to his parents. He described it as bloody, ruthless, and unmerciful as the prince lay blood on the rebels.
You could’ve returned home when you had the chance, but you didn’t. It still guilts you for not returning immediately to comfort Jeno.
You were startled when the door clicked, your husband Jeno emerging from the other side. He closed the door behind him, his eyes burning to yours. You remain withdrawn as he looks at you, not wanting to impose on his space. However, you did not expect him to rush after you and pull you from the bed, encasing your frame in his arms.
You could hear him breathe deeply on your hair, a hand placing itself on the back of your head. He whispered softly, like his composure earlier finally breaking, “You’re here... I can’t believe that you’re finally here...”
Jeno’s simple, but heartfelt, words caused you to tear your heart up. His voice is deep, but that’s what happens when you separate for years. The man before you has grown up to mature so well, and you were so glad that you were in his arms once again.
“I was beginning to doubt that you wouldn’t return...” he continued, the air around the room turning gloomy, “...so I clung into our memories, thinking about how you are doing as you were reaching for your dreams while I lingered around the castle walls, bound in my duty...”
If you weren’t crying before, you could feel tears fill up your lids. Your guts whirled in anxiousness as he speaks to you.
“...and when I lost the most important people in my life, I was not granted the time to mourn for them, for this kingdom needed a leader. I thought that by killing those parasites outside the walls...” he gritted his teeth at the mention of his parents’ killers, “...I would’ve had the closure I needed, but this hole inside my chest still grows larger. Despite everything I endured, I never stopped thinking about you.”
Jeno lifted his head, the hand holding the back of your head gently moving to cup your jaw, lifting it near his face. He mumbled, “How about you, have you thought about me?”
You couldn’t hold back from the tears now running down your cheeks. You sobbed as you thought about the abandonment that Jeno felt during the years you were gone, and yet he still looks at you endearingly. You were glad that even when time hammered him down, he remained to be the boy with so much love in his heart.
“Jeno!” you lunged at his chest, burying your face and hugging him tightly. You gripped the fabric of his top behind him, sobbing hard.
“You should be resenting me, w-why...” you wailed, not caring that there were tear stains on his custom-made suit, “...w-why did you choose me, as your bride?”
It was quiet for a few seconds, only the sounds of your sniffles echoing in the room. Suddenly, he let out a soft laugh, whispering in your ear, “I could never resent you for following your dream.”
Your head slowly lifted to stare into his eyes. Despite the sadness in his eyes, as it burns to yours, you can see the longing and tenderness on his expression. God, he deserved so much...
But Jeno looked away, after having a realization himself that you cannot point your finger to, “I...I apologize if you wished not to be married to me, for binding you to me. I was ecstatic upon your return, not thinking about what you’d feel about me. If you wish for div--”
You didn’t let him finish his sentence when you realized that he was pertaining upon divorce. Without thinking, you cupped his jaw to look at your frame, his eyes widening at your action. You glared at him softly, which you assume would look ridiculous as your face has tearstains.
“No, you do not get to say that, not when I finally have you once again. It is true that I followed my dreams, but now I know, that you are my dream, too.”
“Y/N...”
“Jeno, I’m still in love with you. I wondered how it is if I take you with me as we sail around the world, knowing how much you would’ve loved the places I’ve been.”
You didn’t prepare yourself as lips smashed on yours. A hand grasped the nape of your neck. Jeno’s lips are so soft, and you punch yourself for not returning earlier if this is what you would come home to. You melted as the kiss deepens, whining when he parts. He chuckles at that.
“Y/N, you don’t know how happy I am hearing that.” Jeno smiled at the sight of your reddened face.
“Jeno...” you whimpered, snaking your arms around his neck, “Please...”
Jeno hummed, amused at your sudden change of mood, “Oh, is my love desperate for me?”
“I am yours, Jeno... please show me how much you want me.”
You could hear him growl lowly, “Then I’ll show you how much I desired for you when you were gone.”
Jeno lifted you princess style, your arms tightening around his neck when your feet let the floor. He gently lays you on the bed, hungry eyes traveling your shivering form. The thought of Jeno claiming you during the night of your wedding excites you. He did not waste time placing his lips on your neck, placing open-mouthed kisses on your skin.
You grasped at his suit, trying to pull it off him with the remaining strength you have. He noticed your intentions, chuckling before sitting up to remove his suit and his dress shirt. Your eyes wander around his built torso, thanking the heavens above for gracing you with a man like him. Not only has he matured in mind and soul, but also in his body.
You hurriedly pulled up the hem of your dress, desperate to take it off as well. Jeno grabbed your hand, staring at you intensely, “Let me.”
Nodding, your hands lowered down so he could grasp the hem of your dress. He was slow as he takes off the dress from your form, but the anticipation of your prince seeing your naked form sends a feeling that you couldn’t quite figure out. When the gown is off your body, he throws it somewhere across the room before he turned his eyes to you. You only have your underwear left, but you were itching for it to be off.
Jeno’s mouth salivates at your barely dressed body, his breath growing heavier as he thought of how he would treat you the way you should be treated. He only wished to make you feel good, to make up for the time you lost together.
“Jeno...” you pleaded for his touch, reaching up for him as you were desperate for his touch now. He is now growing agitated from the heated moment, and he could no longer control himself now that you are calling for him.
Jeno leaned down to capture your kiss, but this time deeper than before. With his tongue, he pushed your mouth open to explore your caverns. His rough, thick hands caressed your sides until one settled upon your breast. You squirmed at the grope of his hand, settling your hands on his shoulders. He parted from your lips, only a few distances that a rope of saliva is the only one that’s connecting you between your lips.
You didn’t miss the smirk that Jeno throws at you before he moves down. He kissed from your throat down to your pelvis, his body lying flat on the bed. When he reached your clothed core, he couldn’t help but be amazed at how you got wet with just a few actions. Your legs squirmed when you felt him breathing down there, the air hitting your clothed core. Your eyes widened when you heard a cloth being ripped and your sex being exposed. He threw your legs between his shoulders and rested his arms on top of your hips, pressing them down the bed.
Shivering at how close he is to your most private part, you gulped at what he’s planning to do with you, “J-Jeno, wha--”
“Relax, I’ll take care of you.”
You tried to relax as he requested, taking deep breaths. He hummed, “Good girl.”
You could’ve sworn that you got wetter from the nickname he called you, but you’re not gonna admit that now.
Jeno kissed your inner thighs, giving them small bites while he gets nearer to your core. You whimpered from the teasing he’s giving you, wanting nothing more but for him to get over with--whatever he’s planning to do.
“Gods, you’re so wet for me,” Jeno commented before opening his mouth to lick your dripping entrance up to your clit, encasing his mouth around the small pearl. You let out a sharp cry, your back arching from the electrifying sensation. You couldn’t move your hips for Jeno made sure that his arms are locked on your hips, preventing you from squirming too much. Your fingers gripped at the sheets when he kissed and licked your clit.
You whimpered when Jeno attacked your center with his mouth, his movements going faster. He trailed his tongue to your entrance, slurping the leaking wetness. You hyperventilate from the sensation as you felt your orgasm building up. His finger touched your entrance first, before inserting it inside.
You couldn’t hold back the scream you let out when you felt your climax bursting. You rode your orgasm, as Jeno did not stop his movements, slurping the essence you released from climax. He lazily moved his finger, until you started to whine when you come down from your orgasm. He removed his finger and climbed up to hover before you.
Jeno cupped your face, softly caressing his thumb across your cheek. He gazed at you lovingly while you pant from the ecstasy earlier.
But you were growing impatient, as you want him inside you now. You grind your core to his clothed length. Jeno let out a low moan, holding your hips to lower it down the sheets. You whined from the denial, opening your mouth to beg. He beat you to it as he captured your lips to his.
You could hear his belt clacking followed by a rustle. Your eyes widened when your legs were placed on his shoulders. The new position is unfamiliar to you, and your lower back aching. You did not complain, however, as you felt something big poking in your core.
Jeno parted from your lips. His hand caressed your thigh when he felt it shaking, in hopes to comfort you from what’s going to come next.
“This will hurt, (Y/N),” he said, “Tell me when you want me to pull away, okay?”
You nodded, feeling warmth bubble inside you as the prince treats you like glass. However, you wanted the raw, intense passion as the thought of Jeno corrupting your body crossed your mind. It sent such a devious feeling, but knowing Jeno would be the only one to send your body to a high, how could you not submit to him?
So long as you give yourself to him, then Jeno is free to do with you as he pleases, for you trust him so much not to purposefully hurt you.
A nod and a loving smile are what Jeno needs to thrust his appendage inside you. Before you could moan, his lips captured yours, deepening it to distract you from the pain building up from the intrusion. You made a mental note of how many times Jeno kissed you this night alone.
While his tongue entering your mouth distracted you from the pain, it still stings. Jeno moved slowly, going back and forth so that you could get used to the feeling of his dick inside you. You moan in his mouth as slowly, as the pain subsides.
This time, you parted from the kiss. Your eyes shined as you stared up at him, and Jeno melts at the sight. He wouldn’t ever forget such a cute sight.
“L-Love...more..” you begged, tears brimming up your eyes at the anticipation, “Please I need more...”
Jeno is hesitant to hurt you, but with how cute you looked and how you begged for him, how could he deny you your wishes? And so, he gripped your thighs, his speed increasing as he thrusts into you, hard.
You let out such a long moan that Jeno growled in response. He panted as he began hammering his cock at a fast pace. The desire to see you submit yourself so easily for him did wonder for him. You placed an arm on your eyes, covering them as you cry harder from the fervid bliss building up inside you until it’s too much.
You were writhing so much, bouncing from how hard Jeno thrusts inside you. You cried out his name and babbled unintelligible words, once again feeling your orgasm building up.
“I-I’m coming---” before you could finish warning your upcoming release, Jeno leaned down to your neck, attacking it with his mouth. He opened his mouth wide, before giving it a large bite that triggered your release.
“Jeno!” you moaned his name loudly. You were so sure that someone probably heard you outside. You came hard, the creamy fluid coating his length. He kept thrusting until you felt him come inside you. He moaned deeply, staying inside you as he made sure none of his cum was wasted.
The both of you panted. Your limbs fell on the bed, exhaustion coming down on you. Jeno pulled away, carrying your body so that you are laying under the blanket comfortably. He laid beside you, arms pulling you to his chest behind you.
It was quiet. Only the sounds of your breathing were filling the silence. Nonetheless, you spoke.
“Jeno, now that we’re together, I promise I would never make you feel alone again.”
Jeno did not answer, but his hold tightening around your waist is the only response you need.

You wheezed, tears pooling in your eyes, as Jaemin’s long fingers drill inside your hole. His movements were fast and you couldn't keep up with the pleasure he gives you. You choked, letting out a wheeze that made the man in front of you smirk.
"That's it, love, give yourself to me" you hear him mock you as tears fall from your eyes. He had a twisted desire to see you cry as you fall under his spell, and all you could do is take what he gives you. You feel yourself about to burst, causing you to shiver and grasp the sheets under you.
All you could do is sob as you chased for your release, but it looks like Jaemin had other plans. As soon as you're about to let go, he pulled away from his fingers.
"No, no--" you started to plead, but he leaned yourself to your left ear.
"Rise, sunshine."
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚
Sweat ran down your forehead as you opened your eyes. You groaned, not pleased with your dream being interrupted and your pussy still throbbing. You rubbed your legs to soothe the heated feeling in your center, despite it not helping much. You resisted touching your womanhood, knowing that Jaemin would punish you if he finds you masturbating.
A deep breath being released startled you in your stupor. You turned to look over your shoulder. You almost beamed seeing your boyfriend laying on his back, snoring quietly. You’ve been waiting for him to come home for hours, but unfortunately, you weren’t able to stay awake.
Your body turned to face him, your elbows resting on the pillow with your head resting on your hand. Jaemin has a very attractive side profile. He has a defined jaw that you imagined yourself placing a kiss mark on it. His collarbones are sticking out at the neckline of his white shirt, to which you noticed that the marks you placed there were healing away.
You and Jaemin never discussed wanting to have sex while the other is asleep, but you were well aware that he is a kinky motherfucker, as were you. He’s implied before that he would get horny at night, but due to the schedules you both have, sex at night is rare these days.
Making up your mind, you moved to pull up the blanket. You positioned yourself on top of his stomach. He visibly squirmed at the added weight, but he made no move that would indicate him being awake.
Seeing him from the top made you realize how lucky you were to be blessed with a boyfriend like him. Sometimes you wonder what you did in your life that made you deserve a man like Jaemin. You leaned down to place mouth kisses on his neck. His breath hitched at the contact, and you continued to mouth on his neck by nibbling it. Your hand traveled down to grasp on his bottoms, noting how he decided to sleep on boxers instead.
Lifting your head from his neck, you pulled down the hems of his boxers. His cock peeked out from the opening, and your eyes darkened. His cock is limp when you grasped it. You hear him groan in his sleep. You looked up, seeing his head turned to the other side and his eyebrows scrunched up.
You held the member with both of your hands, rubbing its base with your other finger and playing with the tip. It hardens while you continue with your ministrations. You moved below the blanket and between his legs so that you could focus on giving pleasure to his head. Licking the tip first, you opened your mouth to envelop it down to the base. God, you missed this.
Your left hand moved to his ball, giving it a little tickle which made his legs spasm around. The blanket was lifted away from your body, and a surprised Jaemin is now looking at you. He is wide-eyed when he saw what you were doing. He moaned, his head falling back and his neck lifted.
You removed your mouth a bit to say, “Welcome home, love.” before putting his cock on your mouth again.
He cursed, stuttering out a reply, “F-Fuck, babe...”
Jaemin’s hand moved to grip your hair hard, making you moan lowly in the process. You went fast as you bobbed your head up and down, intending to make him cum under your care. He sobbed at the bliss he felt from your movements. His right knee bends and he covered his eyes with his free arm.
Shortly, he reached his climax. The liquid spilled on your mouth, your tongue greedily licking up the ones that spilled. Jaemin’s chest heaved, and the hand clutching your hair is now caressing your head. You looked up, seeing him now sitting up. He gazed at you softly, with a hint of deliriousness. After you finished up your business, you lifted to sit on his lap. You wrapped your arms around his neck, grinning at him innocently as if you didn’t just suck him awake just minutes ago.
Jaemin rubbed his hands on your back, “You missed me so much, didn’t you?”
“We haven’t been spending time recently, and you always come home tired.” you answered, “I thought that maybe I should energize you just a little bit.”
He chuckled, hiding his reddened face on your neck. He nuzzled, sniffing up your soft scent.
“It’s not fair, I wasn’t even awake.”
“Tough luck, love.” you giggled, pulling away from his arms to move beside him. You grabbed his arm, pulling him down to lay on the bed with you in tow. He complied, wrapping an arm around your shoulder. He placed a kiss on your forehead, smiling when he sees your eyebrows scrunching to the contact.
“Now, let’s get some rest. You’ll need it from what I plan to do to tomorrow morning.”

III. To enter the lion’s den
You admit, you didn’t really have the greatest first impression with your fiance.
Scratch that, to say it’s a good first impression is a stretch.
During the whole night, you realized you might’ve presented yourself to Jeno as a desperate flirt looking for a fling. Except your arrangement with each other isn’t a fling, but it’s marriage.
The dinner night went by rather fast after you and Jeno returned to the table. Mrs. Lee and your mother were eagerly chatting with each other about the wedding, even making you join them because of your fake enthusiasm towards the arrangement. Your stepfather remained puzzled the whole night, still questioning why you didn’t fight back to him.
Jeno didn’t talk to you afterwards, resorting to ignoring your presence when you bid goodbye to each other. You would’ve commented about it further, however his hardened stare stopped you. While you thought about provoking him by being a smartass, you decided not to. This man is now your fiance, meaning you’re stuck with him for a long time.
You crashed to your room as soon you got home, not wanting to spare any glance towards your family. Your stepfather might interrogate you about your intentions if you stayed downstairs any further. You’ve shown back at the dinner with the Lees your calm composure, but it did take a toll on you to pretend that you were okay with the arrangement. Now that you’re back in your room alone with your thoughts, you beat yourself up for putting yourself in such a bad spot.
If you did oppose and threw a tantrum back there, would’ve it made a difference? Jeno might’ve preferred that over your acceptance, since that would mean the two of you wouldn’t have to be stuck with each other and would just move on.
But you realized it wasn’t because of your stepfather that was the primary reason why you agreed in the first place, it was Mrs. Lee.
You wouldn’t admit it even if it kills you, but despite her friendly disposition earlier, she still scared you. She is a woman you shouldn’t trifle with. She is a woman who will get what she wants, because over anything else, she is a businesswoman. Just like her son, you felt as if she had a rope wringing around your neck when you met her.
The truth is, you agreed because you didn’t want to be confronted right there. Because it was easier if you said yes, but now you just dug yourself in a hole and dragged Jeno with you.
There is no doubt that Mrs. Lee is a persuasive woman, and she would’ve drilled you down if you opposed the marriage. When she stared you down earlier, anticipating your answer, it was as if she’s challenging you. You just didn’t get why you and Jeno had to be engaged for the partnership to happen, when she and your stepfather could just merge.
Maybe you did fucked yourself up by being the ‘bigger person’ this time.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚
“You never had a committed relationship in your life and now you’re telling me you’re getting married??”
The next day was the first term of your university and you met up with Dejun at the cafeteria. Yizhuo is still a freshman and her class starts earlier than yours, so she already excused herself. You felt guilty that you didn’t tell her about what happened yesterday. The only reason why you’re telling the man beside you is because you’d feel more entertained seeing how he’d react, considering how dramatic he is.
Despite that, you glared at him, signaling him a warning to quiet down. He exclaimed bemusedly, “How did you manage to get someone like Jeno? That’s like, impossible!”
“It’s not like I had a choice, bitch.” you grumbled while nipping on the straw of the iced coffee you’re drinking, “Me and that Jeno didn’t click well, either.”
“Well, tell me what kind of guy he is then.” he leaned closer to you, his eyebrows going up and down. You backed away when you felt the hot air of his breath hitting your face.
You snorted, pushing his face away from you, “Why are you curious about this? I’m telling you my woes and all you care about is about him?”
“As your dearest friend, I have to get to know about your fiance.” he pouted.
“There’s nothing to know about. He’s as mysterious as everyone says.” you sighed. You probably knew Mrs. Lee in that single night than the one you’ll spend the rest of your days with.
There’s not much known about Jeno other than the fact that he is the sole heir and the one that will surpass his mother in the future. She speaks highly about him, but preferred not to expose him to the media. Before you would think that she’s a great mother because she doesn’t want her son’s life aired in the public, but seeing as how she just sold his life to a marriage he opposed, you’re not sure anymore.
“Surely you would have talked to him once. You’re telling me that you haven’t spoken with each other the whole time?” Dejun asked, not believing your initial statement. You’ve told him many times that you haven’t interacted with him at all, which is half the truth.
“Hmm..” you pondered, wondering if you could tell him the time when Jeno confronted you alone. You trust Dejun, to an extent. He may exaggerate so much, but he does know when to keep things to himself. Such as, the said engagement that hasn’t been revealed.
“Well, he cornered me near the bathroom once.”
Dejun’s mouth dropped. He covered his opened mouth. “Oh my god, (Y/N)...” he whispered.
You know what he meant, and you’re not pleased that he misunderstood you, “Not like that, you freak.” you slapped his shoulder. He flinched, chuckling nervously.
“Well, you know what they say about what happens in a public bathroom…”
“I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that from you.” you rolled your eyes, “Anyway, so he did confront me in the bathroom, and he is pretty pissed.”
“To be fair, you should be used to that, considering how your father is always pissed when he sees you.”
“I am offended that you think that my mere presence brings anger to everyone.”
Dejun shook his head, “Not everyone, but I assume this guy had to be a bit close with your father, since he did agree to it.”
You scoffed. It’s not like you’d fully blame him for making partnership with the people that’ll decide your future, you’re not that petty, of course. However, you’re peeved that he didn’t even talk to you about it before. He didn’t even think about stepping in to save your ass, but you don’t expect that he’ll do that to you personally.
It did crash to you that you’re going to spend the rest of your domestic life with a man you’ve met once. It scares you, and it makes you feel bad for yourself that you had no power to stop it. But you’ll gather the remaining power you have to delay the wedding. It’s not much, but you’d make do with what you have. It’s not like you have much of a choice.
“Hm, no wonder there were rumors that he’s transferring here.” Dejun mumbled, playing on the straw of his drink.
With narrowed eyes, you turned your head to him, “He’s what?”
“Jeno.” Dejun answered, not noticing your expression as he’s still playing with his straw, “Some of Jimin’s clique said something about it, and it just spread around the whole campus.”
You groaned, exasperated. Just when you thought you’ll have a peaceful school life without the marriage looming in your shoulder. You didn’t think that your fiance would even think about it, since he came from Harvard. While the Soo Man Arts and Technology Institute is still prestigious by itself, it cannot be compared to the one Jeno previously went to. It’s fucking Harvard.
“It’s weird, you know, that he’ll just give up Harvard to go here. It’s a waste, but I know why now.” Dejun rambled.
Without thinking, you grabbed his shoulders, turning him to you. You whispered to him, “Jun, no matter what happens, you can’t let anyone know of this…”
Dejun raised his eyebrow, but he nodded, “You know I wouldn’t, love. But why do you need to remind me again?”
“The wedding isn’t going to happen soon, and I’ll make sure it won’t happen now. I need more time before I come to terms with…our union.”
In that moment, Dejun can see the desperation in your eyes. He’s always known how you always felt, even though you’ve kept mostly to yourself. It was a defense mechanism you developed after your mother’s remarriage. He did miss the you that was more carefree and lively. But you’ve grown to be a reserved woman, who keeps many secrets. He was glad that you were able to share those secrets with him and Yizhuo.
Now that it finally dawned to him that you were put into a marriage you didn’t consent to, he felt dread on his stomach. If he were to be in your place, he didn’t know if he’ll be able to live well knowing your betrothed is decided for you.
“You’ll be okay, (Y/N)...” he answered, a hand caressing the one on his shoulder.
“I hope so. I also hope that Ning will understand me, too.” you exclaimed. It still hurts you knowing that you excluded Yizhuo from the conversation, but you want to tell her privately since it’s still personal for you.
“She will. More so than me, to be honest. She has more empathy than the two of us combined.” with a reassuring word, he laughed.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚
Jeno still hadn’t come to terms with having to be wedded with a woman like you.
Granted, he hasn’t known you well yet, but he didn’t have to when you’ve shown yourself to be a brat on the first meeting. He didn’t tell his mother about that. He knows what would happen if he did, since it looked like she’s taken a liking to you.
Jeno knows that he’s going to have to be put into an arranged marriage with a powerful businessman’s daughter. He hoped that whoever it will be, it’s not going to be a nuisance in his life. Unfortunately for him, he was betrothed to a woman who’s been in more scandals in the time when she’s put into the spotlight. It gives him another headache to suffer.
He isn’t keen on getting teased by Donghyuck, either. He knows that if his friends knew about who he’s arranged with, it’s going to be rowdy. Unlike him, they’re very aware of the things that’s happening in the media, so they’re more likely to be aware of what his betrothed is like than him. He never found himself to care about how he’s portrayed by the public. All he cares about is the future of the business that he’s going to inherit and making his mother satisfied.
That is why it made Jaemin wonder why his dear friend is attending the same university as him, especially when he’s made his name at Harvard.
“Mother needed me here.” it was the excuse that Jeno only managed to make. He just couldn’t bring himself to be honest about what happened last night. All he really said to him was that it was rough with the daughter around.
In his first day in Soo Man Institute, better known as SM, he didn’t expect eyes to be turning to him the moment he got into the hall. It made him uncomfortable having attracted so many eyes on his first day, but it has to be the fact that he still has a reputation of being Lee Jia’s son. It didn’t change that he still felt as if he’s had his every move watched, but not by his mother this time.
Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t find Jaemin. He swore he will deck his friend when he finds him in the campus, but all he cares about right now is to find his class. Despite losing his chance to Harvard, he still doesn’t find SM to be that bad. At least he’s still in the comforts of his hometown.
Unbeknownst to him, a female came up to him. She gave him a friendly smile, to which he only responded with a confused expression. Out of all of the people that’s been eyeing him, she was the first one to be brave enough to come in contact with him.
“Hello, you must be Lee Jeno, right?” she asked, looking at him from top to bottom. He nodded.
She giggled, shuffling on her feet. She walks a bit closer to him. “This campus is big, so you’ll probably get lost.”
Jeno shook his head. He doesn't really need anyone’s help now, but he does need to find Jaemin. “No thanks, I can find my way on my own perfectly well.”
Getting rejected, she just giggled, her smile not leaving her face. She then offered a handshake to him.
“That’s fair, but I haven’t introduced myself–”
“Oh my god, Jimin, I was just looking for you!”
‘Shit.’ Was the first word that came to Jeno’s mind. He wished he could pretend that the nightmare isn’t going to be in the same place as he is. But he would be gullible to think that he doesn’t know why he was forced by his mother to attend this university. He knows perfectly well of his purpose. He just wished he didn’t have to see you right now.
Jimin’s smile almost dropped after seeing the one behind him. She backed away from him. He felt his tensed body loosen a bit, something he didn’t notice himself.
“Qian. It’s you.” she acknowledged you dryly. He heard you chuckle in amusement behind him. He assumes that you’re sporting a smug smile, just like what you gave him last night.
“Yeah,” you replied. You walked to her, bumping Jeno with your shoulder. He didn’t know if you meant to do that or you just decided to ignore his presence altogether. Nonetheless, your attitude made his blood boil.
“I’ve been meaning to speak to you, privately.” you grinned, enthusiastically. Jimin did not return the gesture. Instead, she let out a ‘humph’, crossing her arms in defense.
“I wonder what the (Y/N) needs from me.”
“Well, come with me, and you’ll find out.”
Jeno finds himself perplexed as he feels the tension between the two ladies. It looked like they were having a simple conversation, but through Jimin’s eyes, he can tell that they don’t like each other. He wants to fidget in his place, but they were being watched by an audience, who were now more interested in seeing you and Jimin squabble over him. It would be a perfect time to move away.
You looked behind you, finally acknowledging his presence. You threw him an expectant look, your lips tight, “You don’t mind if I cut in, don’t you?”
Jeno shook his head, “No, go ahead, I’m off anyway.”
Grinning, you thanked him, turning to Jimin and signing her to follow you. He sees her roll her eyes for a slight moment, before nodding.
Jeno sighed in relief after seeing the two forms of you and Jimin walking away. One of the things he didn’t expect when entering the campus for the first time is being caught in a petty dispute between two girls. One of them being his fiance.
He didn’t notice a certain man running up to him until he felt an arm lock around his neck roughly, making him stumble on his feet. He glared at the one who ran up to him, but softened after seeing it to be someone he’s been looking for.
“Jeno, damn…” Jaemin, with a big grin on his face, laughed, “Your first day and you have the queen bees fighting for you?”
Jeno removed the arm around his neck and fixed his jacket. With a puzzled gaze, he asked, “Queen bees? They still have those in college?”
“Well, not every college out there. But SM is just different, you know. They lead two of the biggest cliques on campus.” Jaemin replied, shrugging as if it was normal, “The girl that approached you was Yoo Jimin, and she’s a freshman, but she earned her way to the plastics. And the other one is Qian (Y/N), a sophomore just like us, but she’s at the top of the chain.”
Jeno isn’t surprised that you’re popular, but he just didn’t expect to be lectured on cliques that should’ve just stayed in high school, and yet Jaemin tells him this as if he should know. He can’t help but feel another headache creeping up to him.
Great, my fiance is a plastic. How fucking delightful.’
It’s not that Jeno had any experiences with a queen bee and cliques in general. It’s just that he thinks they’re pointless and serve no purpose at all. They’re only there to feel great about themselves, or a sense of belongingness. Donghyuck used to date a queen bee, and in his words, is ‘one of the highest maintenance type of girl he has ever dated’.
As Jeno walked with his friend to their class period, he felt a sense of dread creep up his spine. If he has to marry a girl who is a plastic, one of the types of students that will suck the life out of you metaphorically, then he’s screwed.
‘I don’t want to get caught up in this mess.’ Bitterly, Jeno thought, as he lets himself be distracted with his dearest friend.

You’ve been roped into a lot of mess with the dreamies and sometimes it isn’t your fault, but now it’s different.
Donghyuck pulled Mark to crash on the your dorm for no reason, but it doesn’t really mean much since the former does a lot. But hanging out in the dorm can get pretty boring, so you suggested something ridiculous that somehow made everyone present look at you, wide-eyed.
“Let’s sneak out and get to that new barbeque grill that just opened.”
Mark protested, of course, as he is concerned about management finding out. But when you look at Donghyuck, his grin is growing on his face.
“C’mon Mark, you know you want to.” he begged the older, who was sputtering excuses about how all of you would get in trouble.
Jaemin looked up his phone, now interested, “If we are going, how are we gonna get Chenle?”
Mark’s eyes widened, “We are not! How are we gonna explain this to the hyungs?”
Shrugging, Jaemin leaned back at the arms of the sofa, “We don’t have to, that’s an option.”
A great idea, you would’ve said if it weren’t for Mark’s panicked self. It did surprise you that Jaemin is on board with your idea, since it’s a risky plan that you’re sure that Chenle would agree if he’s in here. You guessed it has to do with the fact that it’s been a while since everyone hung outside without the eyes of the managers.
“I can message Chenle, then we’ll pick him up,” Jeno offered, taking out his phone to do what he said.
“Wait, are we really doing this?!” Mark stammered, while Donghyuck is still persuading him about not kissing up to the manager’s ass. You do felt bad about the older, as he gets the most scolding when something happened to all of you since he is the unofficial leader. But sometimes you just want to relax without having to think about being idols.
Screw what the higher ups think, you’re gonna live the life of stupid teenagers for once.
Renjun chimed in, “Although we shouldn’t drink too much. We may be adults, but we gotta be responsible about it!”
“Sounds fine by me.” Jeno shrugged, eyes still trained on his phone, “I don’t really plan on drinking tonight anyway. Hangover is a pain in the ass.”
Donghyuck teased, “Yeah, if anything, I’d be worried about (Y/N) the moment he sees a drink.”
“What’s that supposed to mean??” you were offended that your dearest friend Lee Donghyuck implied that you would be drinking tonight. Ever since an unfortunate occurrence where you got so drunk that you had the shittiest hangover the next day, you swore that you would only have at least three shots only.
Unfortunately for you, Donghyuck never let it go and would always bring it up unprompted.
Renjun shot a pointed look to the youngest, Jisung, “Especially you, Jisung. No soju nor beer for you.”
“Hyung...” Jisung whined, “I’m not like (Y/N)-hyung so please don’t target me.”
“One more word from you Jisung and getting caught by the managers will be the least of your worries.”
The youngest chuckled at your empty threat, ignoring the glare you threw at him.
“Sweet! Chenle’s getting ready.” Jeno exclaimed, standing up to get ready himself.
While Jaemin asked him to get his jacket for him, Mark sighed. He rubbed his temple, questioning his, or specifically his fellow member’s, life decisions. Things will not end well for them if they get caught, and he really doesn’t want to deal with the managers or get Taeyong in trouble, too.
Your pity with Mark grew, but this is something the dreamies want to do, and it’s a bit cruel to take it away from them. You come to him, placing your hand on his shoulder.
“Look, you don’t have to deal with them alone. I’ll take responsibility if things get wrong, you don’t even have to talk to them.” you reassured the stressed older, “Relax, trust us. We’re gonna make sure we won’t get caught.”
Mark looked up at you, uncertainty still evident on his eyes.
“We can get Donghyuck to charm the hyungs if they found out,” you said, eyeing the said member who is oblivious with your exchange with Mark, “You know how they are whipped with him sometimes.”
It seems that it was enough for Mark to be convinced, as he lets out a loud sigh, his shoulders relaxing from its tensed ones earlier.
“I just don’t want you guys to feel bad when we get caught. It’s risky you know.”
“It is, but it’ll be worth it, Mark. Trust me.”
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚
Surprisingly, sneaking out of the dorms proved to be easier than you thought. The real challenge is getting Chenle.
“So... who’s gonna talk to his parents?”
None of you stepped up. All of you fear that they would scold you and tell the company, so you’ve been making up alibis so none of you looks suspicious. At the end, though, since it was your idea, you were the one that will speak to them. You just hoped that Chenle made it easier for you.
But it was a surprise when all of you got to his house and he’s alone outside the gate, looking at his phone and dressed in all black. In someone’s eye, it makes him look more suspicious, but being out in the open when you’re a famous idol is dangerous. He looked up, and he jogged up to you.
“Let’s go, no time to waste!” he chirped, automatically clinging to your arm. He tends to be a little clingy to you more than the other members, but you’re not the one to complain.
“What about your...” Renjun trailed off, confused just like the others.
Chenle shrugged, “It’s alright, they just think I’m sleeping over.”
The dreamies besides Chenle sighed in relief. At least that’s the least of their worries now.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚
The night went on when you got to the barbeque shop, and it’s been a wild night. It’s not everyday that you get to hang outside with everyone at once without the company looming behind you. Because of this, everyone is relaxed, but alcohol was out of the question. You made reminders with each other not to get wasted so that no scandals will break out about the ‘little dreamies drinking’.
If only they know that despite being a lightweight, you’re the one that drinks the most out of all of them.
Everyone was laughing on Mark when he’s telling a story about how the hyungs at 127 act in the 10th floor of their dorms. You’re quite concerned with how things happen up there, but it’s honestly tame seeing how the hyungs at Wayv had it going to theirs.
“At least we have (Y/N)-hyung so we don’t have to worry about dirty dorms.” Jisung said, leaning back at his chair.
“Ya, I am not your dorm maid.” you complained, earning a laugh to your fellow members.
“Still surprised that you managed to go through the night without drinking, seeing they serve alcohol in here.”
“You should sleep with your eyes open later, Hyuckie,” you glared at the one who is cackling, “Really, this kid...”
Donghyuck pouted, controlling his giggles, “We’re the same age, though!”
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚
It was 12:30 am, and all of you decided to go when Jaemin started reminding about how the company would notice they’re out late when all of you have schedules the next day.
You all agreed that Chenle would stay at the dorm, much to his excitement. The company doesn’t mind when he stays since he is still an honorary resident, and he has his own things there, so it doesn’t matter.
“You know, this is probably the hardest plan we’ve ever had.” Jeno remarked. You guys started to tiptoe around the building, hoping no one would notice a bunch of covered up males looking like they’re about to steal.
You shushed him, giving him a look to stay quiet.
“Well, tell that to Hyuck and Mark-hyung, they live in a separate building than us.” Renjun said. The two of them separated since they need to get back before midnight, and well, it’s already past midnight. You hoped for the best that they don’t get caught, especially by the manager.
When all of you successfully got to the dorms, Jaemin stretched, bones cracking at the process.
“Well, I’m exhausted,” he yawned. You nodded with a ‘me too’, before pulling Renjun to your shared room. He threw you a questioning look, but he let’s you pull him inside.
When you closed the door, Renjun asked, “What’s up? I’m not sleepy yet...”
You shook your head, “Didn’t ask, now let’s get to bed.” before pulling him to your bed.
Renjun froze when he hits the cushions, “(Y-Y/N), oh my god, really?!”
You shushed him, trapping him to your arms and legs.

Sneaking out of the shared bedroom with Renjun proved to be easy than you expected. You expected him to wake up from how you move a lot in your bed, considering he’s been restless ever since the promotions, but he was dead asleep when you stood up from the bed. You didn’t want to disturb his well-deserved rest so you tip-toed away.
Although staying awake late at night is a bad idea, you couldn’t bring yourself to care when you felt a large craving for food. You recently learned that you were alarmingly underweight and it’s been eating up your mind. It became a nightly occurrence where you sneak in at midnight to eat whatever you can get your hands on.
However, you wouldn’t ever steal your member’s food, of course. That’s why you spent a lot on snacks. If you’re lucky and you’re alone, you’re most likely to order. Jaemin has been complaining that you’re hogging the cabinet space and the fridge with the number of snacks you’ve been buying.
You scoffed at yourself. You didn’t see the younger ones complaining, and you don’t mind when they help themselves with the things you buy.
You opened the fridge, mouth watering at the sight in front of you. You grabbed at the first thing you could see, which is a milk carton. You slid down to the counter behind you, drinking the milk in one gulp.
Tonight might’ve been the luckiest you’ve ever felt since you’ve just recently restocked the snack supply and added the cartons of milk as a mix. You remembered Renjun’s mouth drop when he comes back seeing three cardboard boxes filled with your favorite snacks, ramen, and drinks(you threw in the tteokbokki as a bonus, too) and you stocking the cabinets.
They would’ve been suspicious by now, but that’s the normal life of someone with the same lifestyle you have. You’ve subjected yourself to intense diets to remain perfect in the public eye, and now you paid the price. You only noticed the signs when you felt yourself getting tired more easily than usual and how you would throw up occasionally after a heavy meal.
It was dark in the dorm, and only the light from the fridge is the only one illuminating the room. You grabbed the Honey Butter chips, picking a large amount to fit in your mouth. You eyed your next victim; the box of thin Oreos on the counter.
“(Y/N)?”
You jumped in surprise, not expecting anyone to come in to see your nightly routine. You turned around to see a flabbergasted Renjun looking at you.
“Oh my god, what is this mess?” he exclaimed, walking to your position. He started to pick up the empty carton of milk lying down on the floor. You didn’t even notice that you’d already finished it in one gulp.
Examining the object, he sighed, “So you’ve been the one finishing all our milk supply, and I thought it was Jeno or Jisung...”
Guiltily, you adjusted your sitting position, leaning your thighs against your chest. You didn’t want anyone of your members to see you in your miserable state, especially not Renjun. You are aware that he will be incredibly worried and fussy.
“R-Renjun, I can explain...”
You didn’t notice Renjun sitting next to your huddled position. You couldn’t bring yourself to look at him, knowing he’ll be squeezing you for answers. Not that it is a bad thing, since he does deserve to know at some point.
“(Y/N)...” he murmured, “You told me you didn’t want to have dinner earlier because you were full...”
“I was, and I’m not particularly hungry. I just felt like eating,” you explained briefly.
He tilted his head, “Just like the other nights you’ve been sneaking around?”
Your eyes widened, turning to look at him hastily. So he’s known all this time...
“Renjun please...”
“No, (Y/N), I feel as if it’s more than just that...” he said, his voice getting softer, “You don’t have to tell me, I just need to make sure you’re feeling okay...”
If it weren’t for you holding the bag of chips in your fist tightly, you would’ve grabbed Renjun and hugged him tightly. You held back the tears that are building up in your eyes. You don’t want to cry, not now. Not when you look like a mess on the kitchen floor.
“We can keep this our little secret, don’t worry.” he said, his shoulder now touching yours after he moved closer to you, “But you shouldn’t ever feel ashamed about yourself.”
You nodded, slowly eating a chip in your mouth.
“You shouldn’t eat so fast though, you might choke and die.”
“That’s true. You want some?”
“Sure, but you’re the one cleaning this up.”

II. Fake it till you make it
One thing that you would acknowledge is that the minimalistic design your stepfather chose for the interior of the company building brings a sense of professionalism towards its inhabitants. He has an eye for simple, yet organized styles, which contrasts his ambitious personality. It appears that he’s appealing to the modern aesthetic, as opposed to the more futuristic design of Lee Enterprises. Although it makes sense, as the Lee Enterprises are always a progressive company.
Despite your praise of his choice of style, you wish that your stepfather would at least put some color, as he didn’t even bother to put any kind of art pieces nor figurine decorations. He simply just had people add a bunch of indoor plants and furniture and called it a day.
You tried to distract yourself from what Kun told you by excessively criticizing your father’s lack of art appreciation. You feel that the more you think about it, the more that you would overthink about it. Unlike him, your stepfather wouldn’t want you with two feet in the company, all because of your slightly tainted reputation.
But you underestimate Kun, because he noticed your decaying mood. He let out an audible sigh, “At least pretend that you’re happy to be here.” you rolled your eyes, but you didn’t entertain him any further. The elevator up to the dining area is awkward. Luckily, none of your bodyguards care about what the two of you were talking about. If they did, they would sell you out to your stepfather.
One of the reasons why you dread coming to this building is because your stepfather has eyes everywhere. Some of his long-time workers are loyal, to a fault. You give him credit for keeping the workplace environment healthy, which genuinely surprised you when you heard it. Everyone holds him in high regard. Well, everyone except you, and maybe Ten if you count his complaints to Kun.
“Sir Kun, ma’am (Y/N), we arrived.” a bodyguard called, pressing the open button of the elevator to keep it open. Kun nodded in response, silently pulling by the hand to get off the elevator.
To your luck, you see Ten outside the dining area, who is seemingly talking to a bunch of staff that you assume are the security stationed at this hour. While you think it is unnecessary, Ten tends to take privacy around your stepfather very seriously. When his head turns to the two of you, who are coming to him, he dismisses the staff and waved subtly.
Kun waved back. He has a bright smile when he sees his friend. “Glad to see you joining us today. Is father inside?”
Ten loses his formal expression, turning into a frown. He sighed while rubbing his forehead, “I’m not joining you guys. I’m only here to keep the place in check.”
Seeing him stressed out, Kun gave him a sympathetic look. He patted Ten’s shoulder, in hopes of giving him a sense of comfort from his increasing workload. However, the latter continued to complain vaguely, despite knowing how Kun felt about it. You suppressed a giggle, finding the sight amusing.
Ten looked at you, showing you a bright smile, different from your step brother who is puzzled. He moved next to you, offering you a hand. While he still shows some form of familiarity and friendliness to you, you are still in a formal setting, where he has a reputation to uphold. You obliged, shaking it.
“It’s good to see you joining us, (Y/N). I’m glad you and your brother arrived safely.” Ten said, oddly in a formal fashion. Although, you assume what he meant by that is ‘It’s glad to see Kun in one piece’.
You returned the formal gesture, giving him a ‘genuine’ smile, “Well, of course, for my dear father and his company, I wouldn’t want to miss an event where he formally invited me.”
Kun slightly raised his eyebrow, but he didn’t comment further. He finds your current demeanor unsettling, but he didn’t want to worsen your mood as it is. However, Ten smirked. He still thinks your little backhanded quips are entertaining at best and insulting at worst. Luckily, none of the two presses you further.
You cleared your throat, “It’s quite unfortunate that you won’t be joining us. The guests would have enjoyed your company.”
Ten shrugged, following it with a disappointing sigh, “Thanks, (Y/N), but there’s nothing I could do about it. He’s expecting progress with the presentation tomorrow, and I haven’t even started yet.”
You chose to ignore Kun’s worried gaze. Instead, you gave Ten a concerned look, but it was genuine this time. You’re not close to him as your step brother is, but you know how it feels to have unreasonable deadlines. You don’t think he had any rest nor day offs, and it can really drive a person mad. Internally, you admire him for still standing.
“Well then, I suggest that me and Kun-ge go in then,” you said, “I’ll see you around.”
Ten nodded, giving you two a slight wave. You two didn’t wait for him to leave when you entered the dining area of the company. Of course, your family and the Lee family are situated in the VIP section, an area that is separate from the actual dining room. The staff, after recognizing you, accompanied you to the VIP section.
“Mr. Qian and his wife are now inside, they’re only waiting for you.” The staff addressed Kun. You resisted a scoff, since you know they’re not really keen on talking to you, assuming that you’re probably hard to deal with. Kun was always the opposite to you, as he is always the one who is easy to approach. But what did irritate you was how they addressed your mother. She is a mother to Kun as she is to you, or as you observed how she treats him.
Kun thanked the staff when the three of you reached the VIP area. He exchanged smiles with the staff, while you just kept your arms crossed and your expression blank.
The first thing you noticed is the woman next to your mother, who is conversing with her joyfully as both of them have big smiles. Your stepfather, who is also next to your mother, nodding when he is being asked by them. You were lucky that you were briefed before coming, because you can tell right away that this is Mrs. Lee, the woman your stepfather is graciously friends with.
You did think that it was surprising that your stepfather has friends, but it’s also surprising to you on how he and your mother met, much less marrying her. Your mother is open to many things to you, but not her love life, apparently.
Your stepfather looked up to you and Kun when he sensed you coming. He stood up to go to you two. He called the attention of the guests around the table.
“Jia,” he cleared his throats, making the three heads turn their heads to him, “My son and daughter have arrived. This is Kun, my son, who will take my position when I retire.” Kun gave them a formal smile, fixing the cuffs on his sleeve.
The woman, Mrs. Lee nodded, “So this is the son that you’ve been speaking highly of. It’s really nice to meet such a fine man.”
You swore that Kun had a blush when she complimented him, but you can see him resisting from jumping from his place. You would’ve teased him right there, but you’re aware that you’re being watched immensely by your stepfather. If you did something unprofessional in his eyes at this important dinner, you’d wager that you’ll be scolded again for your ‘misbehavior’.
You are not paying attention well when Kun and Mrs. Lee are exchanging words, so you were a little surprised when your stepfather said, “Also, this is my stepdaughter, (Y/N), although you might’ve been familiar with her.”
Mrs. Lee’s eyes wandered to you, slightly widening after recognizing your figure. “Oh my, so this is your daughter that (M/N) spoke of. My, she does look like you a lot!” she turned to your mother, who is sporting a proud smile as she nodded in agreement. You raised your eyebrows, astonished that your mother was friends with someone who is influential in all aspects. You looked at your mother, who is now looking at you with the same proud smile that you didn’t return back.
It was awkward for you, to even think that your mother would tell her friends about you, knowing how you were portrayed as a figure. You trust her not to tell her friends anything bad about you. Despite everything, she still does think highly of you. Out of everyone, she was the one who knew you the best.
“Well, I’m glad that I’m now able to meet your daughter, she looks fine for my son."
A scoff sounded beside her. You didn’t notice the guy next to her, as he was extremely quiet during the whole exchange.
“Oh, my apologies.” she said sheepishly. She gestured towards the guy sitting on the chair next to her, “This is Jeno, my son. I do hope you and my son get along well.”
You trained your eyes towards said son. Jeno didn’t look pleased, his arms crossed. Although his posture didn’t falter, he managed to recover from his little slip up from earlier. He is now nodding towards his mother, but he doesn’t seem to return the positivity when he looks away from you. You shrugged, sitting on the empty chair, which is conveniently next to Jeno.
You pulled Kun to his seat next to you, as he didn't look like he would be sitting until his father told him to. He shot you a confused look, but he managed to recover quickly and turned his gaze towards Mrs. Lee.
You pulled your phone out of your handheld bag on your lap, making sure that your stepfather wouldn’t notice you. You raised your eyebrows seeing a recent text from Dejun.

Just now(8:40 pm)
you dramatic whore
You quickly hid your phone back in your bag. Luckily, your stepfather and Mrs. Lee are engaged in a conversation, with Kun joining in when he was being asked for his opinion. However, Jeno doesn’t seem to be paying attention as much. Even when his name gets mentioned. At least you have someone with you that doesn’t fancy being in here.
Then, Mrs. Lee clapped, “Alright, then, I hope we should cut to the chase then. I do believe that Jeno and your daughter are wondering why they are here.”
‘It was about time,’ you internally rolled your eyes. You didn’t know the reason why you were here in the first place, if not for a formal dinner. It also looked like Jeno didn’t know what he was doing here, either, as he is now invested in what his mother has to say. It was contrasted from earlier when he is just fiddling around with his glass of wine.
You took a sip of your own wine glass, anticipation filling in your stomach. At this moment, you wanted to laugh out your nervousness, but you know you would just embarrass yourself to the dinner guests. It was now that you realized that the reason why you were here isn’t because your stepfather needs something from you, but Mrs. Lee too.
Given your predicament, you have nothing to offer her. You’re just a university student, with a big privilege sure, but you’re just finishing your degree in literature right now. Your chosen degree is also one of the disagreements you have with your stepfather, but you told him that you want nothing to do with the company. He didn’t call it a useless degree, but he never had the highest hopes that you would reach anywhere with that degree.
“Jeno, me and Qian here have made decisions to further merge our companies together.” Mrs. Lee explained to her son, “However, we also wanted this partnership to last long.”
Jeno hummed, putting down the glass, “Yes, but I don’t see where I should come into play.”
It was the first time that he spoke ever since you got here, and you almost scoffed at that. He didn’t seem the type to have a desire to converse with a bunch of old people, and you’re pretty much the only one who is closer to him at age.
Your stepfather turned his look towards you, and you could tell that he was telling you to sit still already, with how his gaze pointed at you.
Mrs. Lee chuckled, leaning back on her chair. She has a delighted smile when she looks at your stepfather, but as expected, he did not return the gesture. He grunted at her, “You can tell them, I don’t want to have to face anyone’s wrath right now.”
“Oh well,” she shrugged, unbothered with his attitude, “But you will tell her why she’s going to marry my son.”
“Excuse me?”
You couldn’t help speaking out. One moment she was joking around with your mother and stepfather, and now she is telling you about an impending marriage that you didn’t even know about? It made you almost stand up from your seat. Beside you, Jeno is not fairing it well, either. In fact, he narrowed his eyes towards his mother. She remains unfazed on her seat, as if expecting this kind of reaction from him. He placed his hands on the table to push himself forward to her.
Jeno gritted his teeth, “What’s the meaning of this, mom? You can’t expect me to–”
“Sit down, Jeno. We have guests.”
That was all she had to say before Jeno realized that everyone was staring at him with astonishment. It took him a few moments for his tensed posture to loosen, before sighing and sitting back. He rubbed his forehead instead, a stressed look evident on his face.
“How about you, (Y/N), what do you think?” she narrowed her gaze towards you.
Your mother shot you a worried look, while your stepfather simply looked away from you. Beside you, Kun is looking between you and Mrs. Lee, eyes shaking in the process. You are not faring well yourself, either. Under the table, you could feel your hands shaking. Mrs. Lee’s sharp gaze bore into your skin and it’s making you uncomfortable.
A marriage of convenience, as your stepfather would probably say when you get home. No matter how much you tried, you could never go against his wishes, and that scares you. When your own relationships and domestic life was being decided by this man and the woman in front of you, how could you guarantee that you’d write your own future? Right now, you despise your mother’s decision to marry him, no matter how selfish it sounded.
You lowered your eyes to the table. You could admit defeat, right then and there. Or you could explode just like Jeno did earlier. But both options seemed predictable. If there’s one thing that you’d never forget to do, is to handle anything with style.
“How fascinating that I came to this dinner only to hear the news of my engagement.” you adjusted your position from earlier, elbow resting on the table and placing your chin about your knuckles. You threw Mrs. Lee a smirk, “I do hope I could at least be involved in the wedding planning.”
In your peripheral vision, your stepfather’s eyes widened slightly. He didn’t expect this kind of reaction from you, knowing that you would’ve at least put up a fight. That didn’t matter to you, as Mrs. Lee and your mother seemed to be surprised, too. Mrs. Lee grinned wider, hearing your fake enthusiasm for her plans to make you marry Jeno.
“Great, I’m glad that someone’s at least excited about this!” she clapped her hand.
Beside you, you could feel the burning gaze of your betrothed. You felt yourself shiver from the tension he is emitting, but you aren’t going to let it show. You have a game to play, and if Jeno has to be part of this, then so be it.
You could say you felt bad that you didn’t fight this, seeing as he is very distressed in being tied down at such a young age such as yourself, but you couldn’t bring yourself to care. These people are expecting you to play the part of a socialite; devoid of weakness. It is time that he should learn that even those closest to him are the ones that will bring him down to the deepest pits of the dark.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚
You excused yourself to the comfort room after feeling exhausted while conversing with your ‘mother in law’. You fixed yourself on the mirror, seeing how the dark below your eyes started to show. You sighed, seeing as even contours cannot hide your lack of sleep anymore. You know your mom would hate knowing that you’ve been lacking sleep. At least you could pretend to be your other family, but not her.
It’s strange how in the span of a few months, you’ve changed. You no longer know which is truly you. Are you still the old (Y/N), or are you now the brat that the Qian family has to deal with?
When you leave the comfort room, you are surprised to see Jeno leaning against the wall across the hall. He had his arms crossed and his eyebrows furrowed, glaring at the poor floor. When he heard the door close behind you, he turned to you.
He huffed, “What do you think you would gain by agreeing with this?”
“Excuse me?” you tilted your head, but inwardly you were amused that he willingly seeked you out to talk to you privately.
“We all know that you are not going to inherit your father’s company, much less take his position,” Jeno remarked, hearing him crack his knuckles using his fingers, “If you think that by marrying me you’ll get your hands on my mother’s company, then you would be wrong.”
‘Oh, so he’s worried about that.’ Although it shouldn’t be normal, you are rather entertained that your fiance is concerned about that. While you aren’t interested in the whole thing they agreed upon, you can’t help but find it funny.
“So I ask again, what do you gain from this?” he dropped his arms, walking towards you menacingly. You thought for a moment about your next course of action. Maybe you could tell him the truth, that you were in the same boat as he is, that you hated this. You may reassure him that you aren’t going to have any involvement with the company so he doesn’t have to overthink that.
But honestly, where was the fun in that?
You gave Jeno a mischievous grin, leaning to him closer. He stepped back, stunned, but he still remained tense.
“You, of course.” you winked, and his eyes burn through your own with intensity.

Chapter 1. To set in motion
If there is something that your father isn’t good at, it is hiding secrets from you.
It isn’t new that the Qian patriarch has a slight distaste for your behavior ever since your mother married him. Your mother remarried to a rich businessman, after leaving a breaking marriage from your biological father, who isn’t the best either. You didn’t consider him being a father to you, anyway.
Integrating yourself to the elite culture proved to be a challenge. It is the perfect ‘rags to riches’ story that anyone could come up with, but it still didn’t make you feel any better, knowing you’d still be internally miserable. You only hoped that the love between your mother and your stepfather would last a long time so you’d still be happy for being privileged. Unfortunately, you’ve lost the freedom you had before the marriage.
You didn’t plan on making yourself a scandalous person, but the media ate up all the escapades and mischief you’ve done back when you weren’t aware of the consequences. Back when things were easier not knowing you now hold the title of a Qian member.
Naturally, it was the cause of a big fight with your stepfather. When you realize that he is a businessman first before he is a father to you. Somehow you were glad that Kun, your step brother, defended you.
“Bad publicity is still publicity.” he says, which puts you in a place where you could no longer avoid.
‘Qian (Y/N), the bratty Qian’ when you argued with your stepfather for having insulted your intelligence and capabilities in entering a prestigious university, or ‘5 star chef express disappointment for Qian (Y/N)’ when you were given shellfish despite your allergy,  ‘Qian heiress under fire for being involved in a cheating scandal’ when the man gave you unwelcome advances was caught by his wife for having cheated on her multiple times. It was a scandal that caused a massive fight between your father, and it was all because of a misunderstanding.
Lucky for you, scandals like that tend to be forgotten when you establish yourself a reputation of being a scandalous figure. Now, everyone knows that you are the spoiled princess.
For the most part, you’ve learned to accept your title.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚
“Can you at least inform me when you are coming?”
You glared at Dejun across the room. He decided to crash at your home after a shitty altercation with his professor, and he needed someone to rant to. Frankly, you didn’t think that someone would be you, nor that it’s a bad idea. You aren’t very good at giving good advice. It’s something Kun is skilled in.
Although, it’s not like you’d expect Dejun to make good decisions in his life, such as staying friends before your mother’s second marriage. Still, it’s amusing to see his misfortunes in life.
“Just because you are no longer below the bourgeoisies, doesn’t mean you can’t understand how I feel.” Xiaojun retorted as he sat next to you on the couch. He passes you a coke bottle before opening his. At least he had the decency to bring refreshments after just entering your place like it was his.
“Oh, I do understand you better than you think,” you mocked, “You almost missed your rent if it weren’t for me and Yizhuo.”
He leaned his head at the back of his couch with a groan, “When will you ever stop mentioning that? It wasn’t even that bad!”
“Almost getting evicted isn’t that bad?”
“Fair enough,” he shrugged in reply, “But it’s embarrassing! At least show a little compassion after the shit I went through that day.”
You scoffed. Dejun didn’t really do much that day. You offered to pay for the rent without any returns, but the idiot resisted. He didn’t want to take advantage of your newly-earned money just because you were his best friend. So you did what you normally do best, threaten the landowner. You can’t forget the face that your other best friend, Yizhuo, made that day.
“For that, I am not letting you give Yizhuo another heart attack ever again.”
He grinned, but before he could speak, a knock interrupted him. You shouted at the person to come in, who is revealed to be your mom after she opened the door. She gives you a warm smile, but her eyes widened seeing another person in the room with you.
“Oh my, I seem to have not noticed you here, dear.” she regarded Dejun, “It’s been a while since I’ve last seen you. I’m glad you’re still coming by.”
He waved at her in reply. Your mother knows Dejun very well because you bring him a lot to your former home when she’s still a divorced woman. She always wanted for you to have a sibling because you were always alone at home, which worried her a lot. But with Dejun around, she doesn’t have to worry about you being lonely anymore.
“It’s been a while, auntie. I don’t see you that much nowadays.” Dejun beamed.
She sighed, “Duty calls. Things just get busier and busier now that my husband is planning big things for the future.”
You huffed when she mentioned your stepfather. She is fully aware of your rebellious nature towards him, and she slightly accepted that you wouldn't warm up to him any time soon. But she couldn't help but worry if this tension would only increase, so she thrives to be as understanding to you both as possible.
"I do need to talk to (Y/N), but you don't have to leave at all." your mother paces in front of the television. You observed her rigid posture, "I figure that someone close to my daughter should know this, too."
You and Dejun shared looks. You were wary that your mother would just waltz in your room looking like a punished child. Now she is being cryptic. She points her stare at you, her eyes showing sympathy.
Your mother said, "Like I said earlier, your father has big plans for the company for the future. But what you and Kun didn't know is that he plans on involving you two."
A big surprise, you suppose. While Kun is expected to lead when your father steps down, you assumed that he wouldn’t want you to do anything with the company. Although, you find him to be unpredictable. Supposedly, it fits him as the most successful businessman to be one of the hardest people to read.
“I… I suppose you wouldn’t be thrilled, either way.” she stuttered, which was out of character for her. Your mother has always had the air of grace around her, which you would assume why a rich man would seek her out. Despite having a rough life during her previous marriage, she would always keep a strong poise. You were the only person to have seen her break, and you loathe to see that happen again.
You can tolerate your name being tainted. But god forbid, they went after your mother, who is just the most empathetic person you would be graced to meet.
Your mother crossed her arms. Her posture told you that she is hesitant, as if she is walking on eggshells between you and your step-father. It was always like that, her being the mediator while Kun was the spectator of it all. Despite being the older one, Kun isn’t able to go against his father for reasons unknown. You only assumed that it was because he is the biological child, but even you have disagreements with your mother sometimes.
Although you didn’t want to offend your mother, she’s damn easy to read. An opposite to your stepfather. Maybe that’s why you could always see the hidden protective glances he would give her when he thinks no one’s looking. After all, she’s just like you, in a sense. The difference is she managed to handle everything with grace. You didn’t.
“Your father, well, he’s arranged a dinner meeting with the big guys at the Lee Empire on Saturday. He requests us to attend, including you.”
It was surprising, even to you. He would never willingly invite you to important business meetings as he either doesn’t trust you, or he doesn’t want those business partners to mistrust him and the Qian Enterprise. You don’t mind, at all. It just means more free time for you and your best friends.
Dejun raised his eyebrows. He looked at you with a questioning look, “Isn’t Saturday Yizhuo’s birthday?”
You widened your eyes. Yizhuo’s birthday isn’t something you wouldn’t want to miss. It’s not that the party is big. It’s a personal one where she invites her closest friends to a sleepover. That would mean you, Dejun, and a girl named Minjeong, who you’ve only met recently as she just moved here in the district.
Your mother shot you a pitying look. She didn’t want to impose on your social life, no matter how small your friend group(which really, just includes Dejun and Yizhuo) is. But from how urgent it is, you figured that your father’s wishes are more important than your dearest friend’s birthday. You couldn’t imagine how devastated she would feel knowing you can’t come.
“I’m sorry, I tried to reason with your father to move the date, but he wouldn’t budge. Said that you should think about the business opportunities for once.”
You wanted to tell her that you wouldn’t blame her, that she’s done what she could to a man who’s stubborn like her husband is. But you couldn’t bring yourself to say it, as you are feeling irritated at every second that passed.
Dejun winces at your expression, “Jesus, (Y/N), you really hate him do you?”
“Look, I just don’t want Yizhuo to be disappointed, okay? I fucking planned this with her!”
“I’ll talk to her, okay? I’m sure she’ll understand.” he tried to calm you down, but it was no use. You know he was right, but you couldn’t help but be disappointed. So much for being excited on a Saturday night.
But that doesn’t make things any better for you personally. You’ll absorb every self control you have to not curse to your stepfather when you see him. You know better than to sabotage him in front of his business partners, at least. You’re thankful that Kun is coming, as you haven’t seen him for weeks. You assume he might’ve been busy, since he’s been an intern under your stepfather.
However, Kun being there doesn’t make your mood any better, nor Dejun’s reassurance that you can still make up to Yizhuo for the lost time. In fact, just thinking about the dinner on Saturday is only making your mood sour. You sighed inwardly. At the end of the day, you can’t do anything about it. If things concern the company, his word is absolute.
Your mother sensed your distress. She sends you and Dejun an apologetic look. In the meantime, he is typing on his phone, on which you could assume that he is texting Yizhuo.
“Fine.” you groaned, “For the company.”
Despite your agreement, you still feel bitter. You feel that your father is planning something big for the future, and since he wants you to join him at a dinner with his partners, you’re sure that you aren’t invited just for show. He doesn’t want you there, but he needs you. You don’t know whether to feel proud about it or not.
☾ ⋆*・゚:⋆*・゚
It is the day of the dinner party. You opted to wear a red cocktail dress with a one shoulder sleeve that falls down to your wrist, with the lower part of the dress fitted to your waist and thighs and pairing it with 3 inch high heels. You are alone in the room, as Dejun already left after he did the bare minimum of comforting you for your misfortune. In all honesty, he just told you to be pretty and to not create trouble.
Luckily, Kun is going to pick you up from your home when you expressed that you needed time to prepare. Your stepfather tends to sleep on the company headquarters, so the people in the house most of the time are you, Kun and your mother. Your mother has already left to be with him, but you stayed behind.
Presently, you are on call with Dejun even though he has left. You figured that you’ll talk to him a bit before Kun picks you up.
“The partners your father is going to be having dinner with is the Lee family, right? He really is such an ambitious man to discuss business with the family that owns the biggest research facility in Korea.” Dejun commented when you told him about the business partners.
You hummed, balancing the phone on your shoulder while you put your heels on.
“That’s gotta be boring as fuck if all they are gonna discuss in dinner is technology or shit.” he laughed on the phone. For once, you agreed.
“By the way, Kunhang is gonna take my place in Yizhuo’s party.” you said.
“Kunhang?” Dejun wondered, “Did she agree to it? I assumed that only the four of us would come.”
“It was a last minute decision. His plans this Saturday were canceled so he can come. He has been invited before, anyway.” you explained.
Dejun hummed on the phone, then he replied, “And this is important to me because?”
“It feels like ditching the sleepover is better than being a third wheel to you couples.”
Dejun sputtered, “W-What? That’s not even accurate! Me and Kunhang have nothing in common! I fucking want to castrate that man.”. While there isn’t a significant animosity between the two, Kunhang tends to be a pest towards the former. You assumed that he simply wanted to get closer to Dejun, but had no idea how to approach.
“Well, since I’m not going, you gotta dedicate your attention to him. I think Yizhuo is gonna be too smitten with the Minjeong girl to notice you.” you mused. Dejun groaned in reply, as he knows that it’s true.
Before you tease Dejun any further, you hear the car honking outside. “Hey, I need to go, Kun’s here.” you informed Dejun when he is about to spout denials.
He sighed, “I’m not done with you, but fine. Go.”
You were walking to the front door when you hung up. You expected Kun to be ten minutes early, but you think that he probably needed time to get ready, too. When you exited your humble abode, you see his Tesla car parked in front, waiting for you. You rolled your eyes over his choice of automobile. Opening the car door, you grudgingly sat on the passenger’s seat.
Kun looked up to you from his phone. He gives you a polite smile, but you didn’t return the gesture. Instead, you crossed your arms.
“A Tesla, really?” you questioned, smugly. Kun tilted his head, confused.
“Is the car not to your liking?”
“Don’t pretend like you give a shit about what I like.” you said, leaning back on your seat, “It’s ironic you have like, a technology-based car, but you’re dogshit at technology.”
Kun gripped the steering wheel hard. He sighed, “It’s early and you decided to choose violence.” You shrugged at him. It’s not like you wanted to be in a bad mood for the whole day, but you chose to be petty for the hell of it. If your stepfather wants your presence, you’re sure that you’re making it hard for him. You take back what you originally planned yesterday by having self-control.
Fuck that dinner. You gritted.
“Look, I know that you’re pissed.” Kun hesitated to comfort you at the moment, because nothing could make you stand down, “I’m also surprised, too, since you have your own plans today. I get it.”
You turned your head at him, lips downturned, “And that concerns you because?”
“All I’m saying is that you shouldn’t take it out on me, sis. I have no clue what dad has plans for us, too.”
A pout scrunched your lips. Of course Kun doesn’t know. Your stepfather knows that you’d pry it out on him no matter what, and you have mad persuasion skills that he won’t be able to resist. Curse that old man for being two steps ahead of you.
But instead of knowing when to stay quiet because of your worsening mood, he continued, “Besides, dad holds the Lees with high regards from the way he spoke to me about them. It seems like it’s just a meeting between two friends more than anything.”
“Oh, so he does have friends.” you mumbled. It isn’t that surprising to you, but you figure him to be someone who would be friends with someone when it benefits him. Although, you wouldn’t admit that your past friends are guilty of it either. With the exception of Dejun and Yizhuo, you cut ties with your past friends after they think they would benefit with your social presence. Because of that, they spread rumors about you that you thought were just over-the-top or fabricated.
You don’t really think that you’re that bad of a person, despite your internalization of your persona in the media. People become their fabricated self because they want to hide, and yet you aren’t sure why you are hiding.
Kun almost chuckled, but he managed to compose himself. He isn’t used to hearing anyone diss his father, just because he always heard good things about him. He does have good things to say to his father, but you suspect that he wants to say the opposite sometimes. “He does. You haven’t met Mrs. Lee before, haven’t you?” he asked, stopping at a traffic light.
“Mrs. Lee? The boss is a woman?” you inquired. While you are aware of female CEOs, you are surprised that your father has female friends, at all.
“Yeah. The smartest woman he ever met, in fact.” Kun answered. He rolled his shoulder. “I only saw her from afar, but from what Ten tells me, your father seems to get along with her rather well.”
You hummed, dryly. You are aware about how the family owns many research facilities and funded projects generously, hence why they are so successful today. However, the ownership of the facilities aren’t disclosed to the public. It was only stated that the son would inherit it from his family when he comes of age. In your mind, you wondered if the son had any choice in the matter.
Kun didn’t, as he seems more passionate about music than he is with the company. His conscience came when he realized no one’s going to inherit his father’s company when he steps down. He couldn’t let the latter’s hard work be left to dust, or left to someone he doesn’t trust nor think is capable. You’re sure as hell that your stepfather isn’t going to give it to you, too. Not even close.
“Ten also told me that she gets along with…mom as well.” Kun added, chuckling in his breath, “Too well, in fact. It bothers dad sometimes.”
You noted the fact that Kun hesitated to call your mom…his mom as well. You never had the conversation of what he feels about having a new mom, only the one where you ranted your ass off about your stepfather(suffice to say, he was traumatized). You decided not to speak about it though. “I’m not surprised. Mom has that charm in her.” you commented, “Although what’s up with Ten being your gossip man over everything that happens in that company?”
Kun snorted, optimistically that it caught you a bit off guard, “It keeps me updated to the gossip in the workplace. Be glad I decided to share it with you, too.”
You rolled your eyes. Kun and Ten are close, as they came from the same high school and graduated together. Your stepfather decided to hire Ten as his secretary after he showed his impressive work ethic. Suffice to say, Ten kind of outranks Kun in terms of the position in the company, but both are still good friends to this day. However, it's a mystery how Ten managed to get a promotion so fast.
Although, you and Ten have something in common; not being fond of your stepfather a.k.a his boss. Working with your stepfather closely, he painfully knows how the man can be too much. From the short time you've been in the company, you aren't universally liked because of your reputation. Ten is the only one in the company who you get along with.
You shrugged, no longer in the mood to continue the conversation.

“We are here, they are probably expecting us.”
You stirred from your seat. You’ve been distracted during the whole ride just looking out the window, observing how dull the city is during the night. Despite that, you do miss the nightly walks you and your friends would plan unexpectedly. Stopping at a meat grill, getting drunk until the hangover tomorrow is so bad you couldn’t attend class.
“I reckon Mrs. Lee’s son would be here, too.” Kun pointed out after having parked the car. You nodded, taking note of his expression. His face is scrunched to a frown, followed by a sigh. Then he looked at you, eyes piercing hard to you, “I’m not here to tell you what to do, but I need you to listen to me.”
Confused, you didn’t answer him, but you didn’t let your confusion show on your face. Instead, you kept a straight face. He continued, “Mrs. Lee 's son is Lee Jeno. I may not be aware what dad is expecting from us, but I suspect it solely has something to do with you.”
“If that’s the case, surely it has something to do with you, too.”
“I think I may be there as a witness.” Kun speculated, but uncertainty is strewn on his eyes, “All I’m telling you is that, whatever he says, you should just comply.”
You scoffed at his advice. This is something that you hated with him, as he’s always been trying to appeal to his father for some damn reason. He’s done everything his father asked for, even to the point of exhaustion. You don’t care if he does that, because you don’t have the power in you to convince him, but you aren’t going to accept the fact that he’d drag you with him.
“You can’t expect me to do that. Not ever.” You left the car, not wanting to get another word from him. You heard him sigh frustratedly before closing the car door.
Kun followed after you. Because you were walking faster than normal, he matched his steps with you. He must’ve noted your presence before, as two guards came to assist you inside. He leaned to your ear, whispering, “Just for this day, (Y/N). Trust me.”
You resisted rolling your eyes again. You aren’t sure what your stepfather is planning now, but if you truly have to comply, then you’re damn sure that you’re going to make it hard for him.
