Portrait of a tribal women This is my very first collaboration with some amazing artists, representing different Indian tribes through artworks. A tribe is a group which possesses certain qualities and characteristics that make it a unique cultural, social, and political entity. . . . A small introduction about the tribe that I have chosen : . The Khasi people are an indigenous ethnic group of Meghalaya in north-eastern India with a significant population in the bordering state of Assam, and in certain parts of Bangladesh. The Khasi people form the majority of the population of the eastern part of Meghalaya, and is the state's largest community, with around 48% of the population of Meghalaya. They are the only Mon-Khmer speaking people in South Asia. A cultural tradition of the Khasi people is that they follow the matrilineal system of descent and inheritance. Under the Constitution of India, the Khasis have been granted the status of Scheduled Tribe. . (Materials used: Paper from @scholarestore Paints: watercolor paints from @brustro_official ) . . . Happy Navratri! This was my first clay model. I made it as a child, I don't properly recollect when. Maybe, I was in 8th or 9th standard. As I child, I was very fond of the Durga form of the Divine. And I used to make a Durga painting every Navratri. (You know how I would get her face? I would use the cap of a small container and would place it on paper and fetch a round shape which would serve me the face of the Goddess🤭🤭) I never knew recollecting childhood memories would become a part of a Durga Puja, when you can't but sit at home alone. Being a Bong, Durga pujo would be our A-lister for shopping right from the month of January. I remember my grandmother and grandfather seeing the Panjika every-year, about the rides Devi would take while coming and while retreat. This year, Devi is coming riding a horse/boat, which indicates destruction, and leaving on an elephant, which is a sign of replenishment, abundance and blessing. May Ma take away our dark days and bless us with love and light. . . Happy Dugga Pujo❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏. . . P.s. our domestic help would bring the clay for me to make the structure and Papa would procure all the sequins, glitters and decorations for the final get up. We are really privileged to have gotten the opportunity to review @karinmarkers brushpens . It's huge for any artist and same is the case with us. . I have not used it on any other paper. But my observation says: It works wonderfully and smoothly on @archespapers 300 GSM 100% cotton cold-pressed paper.
