Summer just in time for Summer
"Pull up" giving a modern day Erykah Badu vibe... one of my favorites on this new EP... in my eyes, Summer Walker never dissapoints. This new EP is literally just in time for Summer... presenting songs you can both soak up the sun to, and relate to. As usual, Summer bares her soul in this one... and I enjoy the fact the fans got to hear Summer talk in Agayu's Revelation, which gave us a feel of her personality... making this EP more personable. All in all, this EP feels like a cool, melodic, poetic, picnic under the Summer sun. Childish Gambino delivered in "New Type" reminding his fans of his lyrical, chill abilities... Jcole's heart felt message to Summer was heartwarming and sincere. Simply put, This EP is full of vibes with a hint of poetry and a lot of melodies worth nodding your head to. I've always loved how honestly Summer pours her heart into her music... which will always make her a relatable artist, feeling like that friend you sit on the balcony with and have real conversations about life, and what we face as young women. This EP makes you want to throw on your most alluring robe with a cup of tea by noon. I'll always support Summer and her honesty, pen game, and raw talent. What's your favorite song on the new Clear 2, Soft Life EP?

Gettin' old by 6lack is music for a music lover's soul
As a music lover, I don't even know where to start with 6lack's gettin old. Its almost like nourishment to the heart. The lyrics are as real as a free flowing conversation without ego attached between two people who have grown fond of each other's essence. "Ima make breakfast going out is gettin old" the lyrics release simplicity and contemplation where words most likely have graced a journal... healing in mind. Melodic and witty... something 6lack does naturally. The lyrics in a way soothe... feel good words that vibrate an old soul. "I can show you something.. my lovin' never ends." I have a feeling "lovin" in this song means more than just physical. The song flows in a euphoric way with easy vibrations that you can't help but put on repeat. Definitely a summer vibe fit for your summer playlist... if this song was a color it'd be a coral halcyon underneath a somber sun. The song gives story time... I almost picture the light flowing in during the day between two souls who have connected, while breakfast seeps through the space...displayed by deep brown and cream home decor. A 90s aesthetic when words truly meant something and people spoke from a part of themselves fruitfully. That timeline where no phones to distract meant ransoming a real conversation.
6lack in my opinion is trying to cause this soul he is clearly fond of to see something deeper... feel something more than the normal. Get out of routine and allow the mind to fly in tune with the spirit. If there was ever poetry to soak in... Gettin' Old is that.
This song also gives "night drive" vibes... releasing lyrics worth inhaling like a fresh buttered bread from start to finish. You can simply feel the vibes in gettin' old... almost as if 6lack is serenading a soul you once adorned in a way where you couldn't help but to speak your truth too. 6lack... like the Brents, Drakes, and Brysons has a way of speaking to the ladies in their lyrics like their lips are made of warm whiskey on the rocks... Giving the girls "Summer anthems" Pouring out words leisurely... sure to make the ladies feel something. 6lack also, always good for music that fits a season's aesthetic. Gettin' old in my opinion grants a summer feel with a hint of spring attached.
What's your favorite 6lack song?
If I could sum up 6lack's gettin' old in three words it would be serene, melodic, and warm.

DVSN til the morning... full summer energy
Where do I start with this one? This truly gives me a relaxing vibe and for some reason takes me back to my roots in VA. I picture sailing through the night with this song turned up through VA's busy summer streets and its radiant lights. If this song had a smell it would be Sangria and fresh green leaves on a relaxing Summer weekend. DVSN has a way of being diverse with his music... with just one hint of his lyrics, I always feel the vibe of the melodies as well as the passion for the artistry. This song in a sense puts the soul at ease... DVSN charms a love interest smoothly, while the beat seems to float peacefully like a calm island in June. If serene waters was a song... this would be it. Til the morning makes you want to open all the windows at 7am while a fresh cup of coffee brews in tune with the melody. If I could sum up Til the morning... it would be soothing, alluring, charming and melodic. The lyrics are straight to the point... yet seem to still match the island-like beat in a sing-song... poetic way. If there ever was a song to add to a summer playlist...
this is the one.

Break on a Monday, On a Tuesday
Ryan Trey in my opinion gives "summer vibes" music. Free flowing, poetic, and story telling. I've always enjoyed his lyrical ability in such a way that he still "serenades"... but from the soul. "Break on a Monday." has a story telling... poetic nature. I can even go as far as saying it gives a 90s poetic vibe... one of those hole in the wall poetry spots with strong drinks and lyrical energy. With the lyrics to this tune still catering to the culture... "Sun did you good when you was out in Miami, I can see it on you." Still... Ryan has always been able to speak in such a way where it not only feels like music, but as if hes baring his soul. This song flows like water, as well as the video. It gives an easy vibe of a young Genz male falling for a young lady in such a way where the words sooth like the pages of a melodic journal. Simply put... this is my soooong! lol. I always look forward to Ryan Trey's music. For such a young age he has a way with words, and telling stories that reel you in... making you feel like its a best friend or a family member talking to you in the backyard over a few drinks. Music that speaks from the heart always gets a vote.
What's your favorite Ryan Trey song?

Kehlani's Hate The Club is one of her best in my opinion
Tumblr media
Picturing the setting always inspires my soul when I listen to songs that move me in such a way where my mind conveys into a hazy motion picture. In my humble opinion, Kehlani’s music always gives you an LA feel… as if she’s pulling her roots and allowing them to pour from her pen. “Tired of going out. Scared I’ll run into you, all of these whereabouts.” I’ve always enjoyed storytelling music that paints an aesthetic picture. Kehlani’s Hate The Club in my opinion will always be one of my favorites from the beloved artist hailing from Oakland. The first few lines are simple and abrupt, telling of the feelings of most introverts who tend to wear their hearts on their sleeve so much it becomes a charming set of lyrics… truthful.. Straight to the point. “You know that I Hate the Club. I came cause I know you’d show up.” Simply put, She doesn’t do the club but only came because someone who has her attention is in attendance. It’s never easy to abruptly and smoothly place your true feelings into lyrical form… Kehlani tends to always do so effortlessly. “DJ playing my song, DJ shouting me out.” Humbly voicing her notability, while shifting back to serenading the captivating love interest. Kehlani’s beats are always melodic…. Soothing, “up to date.” Hate The Club is modish, lyrical, poetic… with a  hint of calm. It gives a warm sun midst a Saturday off of work…. A song you can vibe and relate to.
What’s your favorite Kehlani song?

90s Hip Hop. Merely a feeling
90s Hip Hop, Merely a feeling
Tynyta Ari
You can’t describe it as just  a feeling, and it's merely a sound that feels like a kiss to the soul as the bass serenades your spirit in such a way where you release the lyrics, feeling like you’re from the depths of Newark, as Lauryn frees your mind with versatile lyricism only made for poetic ears willing to receive. You can’t just describe it as music, because your soul seems to sink into the elegiac words as your head nods liberally to the beat. Feeling as though you created the ariose masterpiece with Common as “The Light” reverberates through your speakers. 90s Hip Hop has an artistic, nostalgic smell…. Dark brown liquor on the rocks… a sweet vapor that blends with the city streetlights. A feel that takes you back to the very first record you purchased… that same record that brings a bout of evocation that seems to echo the good days where your fade was fresh, and leather jacket was crisp. 90s Hip Hop gives an elegiac head nod symptom that cannot be denied… The words seem to speak to the parts of you that you didn’t even know understood poetry. Tupac heartened the ladies to keep their head up… a tune that pierces spirits in such a way where you choose to relate to it, while diving into the art of the lyrics, giving it language.
90s Hip Hop is both respected and felt… curving the lips into a smile as the sounds begin to fulfill the mind with memories. Long summer nights on the stoop when nothing else  mattered but good conversation amongst the tumultuous speakers full of deep rhymes. Rhymes that feel like a hug to the soul and a caress to the artistic depths of the spirit. Rhymes that can be repeated without thought, felt without force. Rhymes that simply flow. Words that poetically soothe the parts of us that need realness in order to thrive. From Da Brats, to the Left Eyes, to the Queen Latifahs…. Leaning into the Notorious BIGs, to the Nas’s of the world… 90s Hip Hop can simply be described as raw love of truth that simulates the heart, speaks to the soul… intensifying head nods while invoking deep conversation.

Don't get too high...
Tumblr media
When Bryson first came out, he had a way with his words in such a way where he made just about every female fan and listener feel as though they lived in a penthouse in LA graced in lace curtains, and aesthetic furniture with the only care in the world being what latte to drink for the day... The main character of her world parading around as either an aspiring model, designer, or make up artist. lol. Bryson had a way with words (and still does) in such a way where your soul urged for his lyrical, story telling music to become a binge worthy TV series that took you away from everyday life and caused you to dwell in the dialogue and pick a favorite character to grow with. "Don't get too high." will always be one of my favorite songs by Bryson for so many reasons. I've always been a fan of Bryson's vulnerability in his music. The song margins a young lady he is clearly smitten by... in such a way where you begin to imagine the aura and aesthetic of this young lady for Bryson to vulnerably bare his soul the way he does in the song.
Its clear this young lady is in a city that never sleeps, a city some vacation to while most dwell in. He urges her not to get "too high" and goes on to serenade her smoothly... "I'm the only drug you need to get you through it." As a writer who is also visual... the lyrics are fun, a bit sensual... But at the same time, telling of many beautiful women who tend to pull off the alluring aesthetic while deep down inside... needing substances to cope. The melodic tune is a tune you can both ride to on a late chill night... and relate to. We've all had late nights where the drinks began to pour and we wanted to say no... but everything within us wouldn't let us. We all have used something to cope... self soothing. The song in a sense, reads the hearts and spirits of the GenZ and millennial culture. Music that you can both relate to and nod your head to in my opinion, should always stay in rotation.
"Turned up at the function, you can barely function." Simply put, this song will always be one of my favorite songs by Bryson. As a music enthusiast you could go as far as to say this song was Bryson's personal diary... "Hanging with them other n*ggas. I can barely stomach." It seems as if he bares his soul and feelings in such a way where he can't hold it in no matter how much he wants to, in such a way where he's so inclined to this person that he HAS to let her know... "I can and will come by, and keep you up." One thing is for sure... music should always be visual, more or less art to the ears, and tell a story. As one of my favorite artists... Bryson has always had that in the bag. This song is melodic, gives a night drive type of vibe. This song can be described as poetic, lyrical, and timeless.
What's your favorite Bryson Tiller song?
