Having finished the Conan the Barbarian reviews, we're starting on the Cthulhu mythos! Today is a review of H. P. Lovecraft's "The Dunwich Horror"! Are there unearthly monsters? Are there forbidden tomes of eldritch lore? Is there racism? (Oh boy.)  Take a look to see!

Every writing advice thing ever: Don’t get bogged down in details on your first draft. Just write! ☺️
Me: How I begin this scene hinges on whether cheese sandwiches were served with mayo in the 50’s.

The last of our Conan the Barbarian review series! How will it all end? Who is the Queen of the Black Coast? Will there be yet another career change for our Cimmerian friend? (The answer to that last question is, of course, "yes".)

Novel writing doesn’t breed serenity. It is lying, you know, and the novelist has to spend a lot of time during the course of his writing worrying about whether he is going to get away with his lies. If he fails to, his novel isn’t going to work.

The version of you right now is deserving of love. Not you two years ago when you had more of your shit together, or the five years later version where you’ll surely be thriving. The version of you right now. The one that might just be okay, or is really struggling, or is bored and unproductive. That version deserves love. Having trouble accepting this is fine, but actively denying it is not. Your value is intrinsic, and finding confidence in that is mandatory.

May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful, and don't forget to make some art -- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.
-Neil Gaiman
