I believe that before Amon escaped the clutches of Aogiri, he tried to reason with Takizawa into coming along with him, but since Takizawa was too lost from himself, he decided to stick around with Aogiri.
It’s a possibility. It could also be like Five in Zankyou no Terror: when they were about to escape, she decided to stay. Seidou might have decided to stay with Aogiri because they offered him power and recognition, two things that he always wanted.

SO I’ve heard a lot of people talking about Seidou before his unfortunate transformation.
“He’s a pussy.” “People only like him because of what happened to him.” “He only wanted to get a promotion.”
Truthfully I like Seidou though, he’s actually one of the most human characters in the entire...

Rereading the manga for a totally different reason, I ended up gathering clues about the main conflict in the world Ishida created, hidden behind Kaneki’s story. Seeing how the fandom is quite big, I have no idea whether or not someone already wrote a similar theory, so forgive me if people...

Uta’s mask
Not the Arima one, this one;
Tumblr media
Lots of people have commented on it’s odd creepy design and lack of Clown theme. (Though his previous mask wasn’t Clown theme either tbh).
Now, Ishida does like this style. These are some of Ishida’s original works that have nothing to do with TG. So, it not too unusual in itself.
Tumblr media
But what’s interesting is that this mask appears to have grown back. (Which is even weirder in that it still has straps). We know from the previous panels that there’s nothing in his hands.
Tumblr media
It also bears a resemblance to some other masks we’ve seen.
Most closely, the final Arata form.
Tumblr media
It has the ‘pointy’ aspect and multiple ‘eye slots’ most seen among kakuja masks.
Tumblr media
Now, there are flat kakuja masks too. But both of these are shown with a pointed form too (in Eto’s monster form & Amon’s armor).
Tumblr media
Kaneki was able to form his kakuja mask without having to manifest the rest of his kakuja (As seen in the above picture of him).
This suggests that this mask may be Uta’s kakuja mask.
Also, as Juuzou’s bikaku Scorpion knives went through it, that gives some additional weight to the idea that he’s rinkaku.

For a while, I have been thinking how frequently mentioned the theme of attachment/love is in Tokyo Ghoul. Most evidently in this scene where Takatsuki offered (somewhat harsh) advice to Hinami:
Tumblr media
It’s probably just me, but what I find weird in her comment is her explanation why Hinami…

What do you think it means that in a scene in tgre ch. 26 (I think page 9 or 10 the last panel) where there was a picture of the clowns and the colouring on Uta's hair faded into a checker pattern?
Checkers in Tokyo Ghoul are a bad omen. For me, they represent that someone is being forced to do something against their will (as if they were chess pieces).
When Uta created Kaneki’s mask, he did it so that it would show “the eye that’s usually hidden” or rather, Kaneki’s ghoul side. He wanted Kaneki to embrace his ghoul nature (and we all know what happened when he did that).
Tumblr media
The torture chamber, where Kaneki was forced to become Jason’s toy, where he was forced to endure immeasurable pain, where he was forced to give up his humanity and morals.
Tumblr media
Kaneki’s dream. He mentions he already know what would happen when he woke up, which probably means he knew he’d have to leave his life, friends and memories behind.
Tumblr media
We still don’t know his real intentions, but Souta’s actions led Kaneki into becoming a ghoul.
Tumblr media
The CCG’s higher ups have been shown with checkers a couple times. I assume it represents how little choice Sasaki has when it comes to his life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Saiko never wanted to become a ghoul investigator; she was forced to it by her mother.
Tumblr media
The fact that Uta’s hair is faded into checkers probably represents the fact that he is currently manipulating Hirako. It could also mean that he is going to try something during the auction (like making Kaneki come back) or (highly unlikely) that he is being used by the Clowns, but I don’t see how and why.
Tumblr media
What really unnerves me is that Itori is not in the panel. Either the CCG is not aware of her or she is more of a neutral party.

So, I’d like to share some thoughts about Akira… I’ve seen so much hate towards her, and I think they’re being a bit unfair to her as a character, imho. Well, before I start, please, don’t note the misspelling and grammatical errors, since English is not my first language. xD By the end, I put...

unspiral Great post. Another point to back up the Kaneki has Phoenix symbolism is that in the Chinese mythology about the Phoenix heralding a Saint (Sage) the Phoenix (Fèng Huáng) is paired with the Dragon (Naga, snakes & dragons).
‘In ancient Chinese legend, when there was sage rule (Saint), the phoenix would appear and sing, while the dragon would emerge from the river to offer a sacred chart to the sage’.
They are symbols of mortal enemies and partners. They mean conflict as well as union. (Dragon and phoenix together are used in Chinese weddings).
There is a character that matches this symbolism, Kaneki’s co-protagonist Amon;
Tumblr media
You’ve also mentioned a possible snake symbol with Amon in this post.
Tumblr media
Which would fit nicely with Kaneki and Amon clashing in Tokyo Ghoul, only to both agree that "this world is wrong"  and that they want to fix the world.
About the Name 'Aogiri Tree'
I recently got really curious about why Ishida Sui chose the name Aogiri Tree (which translates to Chinese parasol tree, a plant/tree used to make Chinese musical instruments), so I looked around a bit and found some things that may (?) be relevant. Or not lol.

In my opinion I think Eto had rougher life than Kaneki I think that's why she's so twisted and sadistic she had so much morale pain in her life
I absolutely agree.
And I actually think this is a really important aspect of their relationship and any interactions they’ll have in the future.
sans-san said it really well in our conversation about Eto and Kaneki parallels and their goals the other day: “he did the same as her: he became cruel in order to defeat the wrong in this world.”
I think that’s ultimately their biggest parallel, and it’s why Eto is so interested in him after the Aogiri arc. She sees him going through the same stages she did: realizing the cruelty of the world, the necessity of becoming strong, consuming others to gain that strength, and then ultimately enjoying the power over others.
But, the difference is, whereas Eto was alone, Kaneki had friends who supported him. He had Anteiku (and Yoshimura telling him not to throw away his human side), and he had a lifeline that tied him to the human world, even after everything he went through: Hide. (When he thinks about losing his place in the human world, he literally just thinks about not being able to be with Hide anymore.)
And then when he starts the serial cannibalism, the revenge, the cruelty after the Aogiri arc, he abandons Hide, and he abandons Anteiku: the place that allowed him to be a ghoul and also be with Hide.
So I don’t think it’s an accident that Hide, Kaneki’s tie to the human world, shows up in V14 when Kaneki hits a low, and that when Kaneki starts to lose his grip on himself, Hide’s voice is the one that talks him through V14. And then ultimately Kaneki’s descent into the ghoul world is halted.
So basically V14 ends up being a good thing for Kaneki, if the alternative is losing his humanity like Eto. Or, like the half-ghoul Eto made specifically to replicate Kaneki, Seidou.
I also think Seidou is proof that this was the path Kaneki was on, and the path Eto already walked. And that Eto probably wanted Kaneki to end up the same way.
Woops this got a little longer than I intended.

One Eyed Ghouls Part 2.5: Arima (?)
A theory about what makes One-Eyed Ghouls different to Ghouls and why that’s so valuable. This would be a massive post so I’ve split it into 3 parts;
Part 1: RC Scan Gates
Part 2: Eto, Kaneki & the Quinx
Part 2.5: Arima (?)
Part 3: Aogiri, CCG & V
The ‘Arima is a One-Eyed Ghoul’ theory has been floating around for a bit, this post by seidou-san has a decent summary of it. (Though I want to point out that Arima’s hair change gradually over years, not like the Marie Antoinette syndrome of Kaneki & Seidou). And a bit more on the theory in relation to Arima’s and Kaneki’s birthdays here. I have mixed feeling about the theory, (I prefer the idea of Arima being human), but it’s worth investigating.
What you need to know from Parts 1 & 2;
RC Scan Gates don’t scan for RC at all, they detect a particular enzyme that ghouls produce, the one mentioned which prevents them from eating anything other than humans (or coffee). OEGs don’t produce this enzyme, which why they can get through the gates. As such OEGs can eat human food - as long as they can get it down.
Ghoul can’t produce RC Cells, they can only store them - ghouls are constantly depleting a reserve. OEG can both produce & store RC cells. As they can freely eat food they can constantly produce RC cells. This means they inevitably will have monstrously high RC levels and kagune beyond anything a ghoul is capable of - hence Eto’s giant kakuja.
One of the bigger arguments against the Arima is a OEG theory is how he could possibly hide that fact in a place full of Investigators. Wouldn’t they notice him not eating/fake eat etc. However, if Arima is a natural born OEG like Eto then these issues wouldn’t be a problem.
This leaves the biggest argument against the theory as this;
Tumblr media
In chapter 143, the last time we see Arima in TG, he still has the nick on his face from where Kaneki cut him. A OEG should be able to heal this pretty quickly. For Arima to be a OEG some explanation for this has to be made.
Why doesn’t he use kagune?
Quinque are stronger than kagune. He’s had access to quinque from at the latest 16 (though probably younger in order to be trained in it). If he had a kakuja it may not actually be to his advantage. Notice how when Eto is in kakuja her greatest advantage, speed, is crippled. She can’t even dodge Narukami’s lightening attack (which Kanki could do). Yet, without kakuja she can move so fast she can travel across a large hall, remove Banjou’s ribs without getting her hands dirty, before Banjou could even realize it was happening. A ghoul using a quinque is more dangerous than a ghoul using a kagune - that’s why the CCG have biometric scanners on their quinques to prevent ghouls using them.
It’s noteworthy that Arima is trying to increase Sasaki’s ability to fight without having to resort to kagune. A OEG with the enhanced speed, reflexes and healing armed with a quinque is the best combination. (Hence why the CCG are making Quinx, whom they expect will surpass Arima).
Tumblr media
Just to be fair, Arima may only be concerned about Sasaki’s mental health and memories. Regardless, Arima is still trying to make him a OEG who uses quinque instead of his kagune.
Tumblr media
One last thing that may back it up is that Yoshimura was inquiring about Arima and later, when discussing his OEG child, he mentions helping lonely souls (or a ‘lone soul’ depending on which translation you use) as well as his child. A notable thing about Arima is that he is a lonely person. Yoshimura may have recognized Arima to be a OEG.
OK, I’m going to throw a quick ‘crack’ theory out here too. Feel free to ignore this as it’s mostly speculation. It doesn’t have to be the case for the OEG theory to work, but it helps.
I did a post about IXA earlier here. Basically IXA is a koukaku quinque that I suspect is SSS rank, as Chairman Washuu has previously subdued an SSS rank ghoul.
Here’s the crack bit - what if Arima was that ghoul? Eto first wiped out a Investigator squad in ward 24 when she was only 14. Arima’s earliest appearance is being sent to investigate on his own at 16, that’s how much faith they had in Arima’s strength and capabilities. (It’s worth pointing out that Matsuri is currently treating Sasaki in a similar manner in the Auction Mop up Raid. The CCG are pretty confident in their OEG.)
Therefore, IXA would be his own kagune artificially enhanced. As a koukaku he’d be weak against rinkaku kagune, which may explain the slow healing nick. (Recall the wound Amon’s twin-tail bikaku enhanced Doujima gave Kaneki refused to start healing till after he ate some meat).
I don’t know how much credence I give it, as I’d still prefer Arima to be human, but if you stretch things a bit, you can explain him being a OEG. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Next part is Part 3: Aogiri, CCG & V.

half ghoul Arima theory (and why it just makes sense)
I heard about the “Arima is a half ghoul” theory a few months ago, and ever since then it has piqued my interest from time to time. First, I heard the theory that he might actually be the One-Eyed King, but I always figured that would mean he was a human posing as a ghoul. But then I thought, oh, being a half ghoul makes a lot more sense.
And the theory isn’t without evidence.
(spoilers for TG:Jack, Tokyo Ghoul, and Tokyo Ghoul:re up ahead. Big thanks to lordkanae for helping out with this and discussing it with me!)

Sorry to bother you, but where exactly does it say 2011? I mean I agree that it might be the year TG takes place (since that's also when it first got published I think), but I can't find the panel you mentioned. .u.;
It says this in this really small panel in ch. 23 of the manga.
Tumblr media
This is a view of Kaneki’s bag where it was supposed to show his mask but, take a look at the book that’s in the bag’s pocket.
Tumblr media
It says 2011-2012 so basically everything that transpired from the start of the manga until Aogiri arc was in 2011 while everything else was in 2012.

3 years living with Haise turns Arima from a cold-hearted, sadistic, massive and calculating Reaper into a funky, fatherly and dork Arima :3 I find that this is good for both Arima and Haise :3 (really adore this) Looking forward to your reply :3
I don’t see how he can remain a cold-hearted, sadistic, massive and calculating Reaper especially when he is dealing with this cutie.
Tumblr media
Joke aside, my opinion on this is going to be long since this is something that I sorta hold back talking, but with the recent Omake that came out, it’s probably a good time to talk about this.
I’ve seen so many people wanting Sasaki to just return back to being Kaneki (even though I don’t know which Kaneki you want him to be, the black-haired one? the white-haired? the confused one at the end of TG?), and somehow a bunch of people thinking that CCG brainwashed him, CCG treats him like a disposable lap dog, Sasaki is pathetic to allow himself to live in a lie, etc, etc.
I know what many people are gauging this from.
Tumblr media
It’s this. The infamous lie that Sasaki made. Personally I think many people take this out of context. This does not necessarily mean that he hates his current life, nor that CCG treats him awfully.
I personally see this in three ways.
1) Sasaki actually treasures so much what he has right now, but he knows that it’s not a long lasting one. His past is catching up with him and he constantly lives in fear that everything he has now will disappear.
2) He subconsciously knows that by choosing his current life, he abandons what he used to have. His guilt from abandoning his past will always haunt him, therefore he will never truly be happy with his current life.
3) No matter what, Sasaki is a half ghoul. This problem will never disappear. It’s obvious that Sasaki has complex about being different from others around him.
CCG thus far has treated Sasaki really well. He is given lots of freedom, good place to live, money to enjoy things he likes (books, coffee, banana poster and… er some funky pants XD;;;), promoted him in a short period of time, gives him awards (Kinmokusei Award and White Wing Award). If this is some other ghouls, he would probably either be dead, harvested for Quinque, or chilling in Kokuria just like Donato.
Basically, Sasaki is given an incredible amount of privileges despite being a half ghoul. Certainly one could argue that they did this with ulterior motives such as Qs experiment and hoping for him to create investigators stronger than Arima. But I think the bad apples in CCG are the higher up. Not everyone in CCG is evil.
I’ve read that many people seemed to think that Arima and Akira aren’t genuinely treating Sasaki well, and they will all turn against him in a blink of eye. And yet for the past 10 chapters + Omake, I can only see them being concerned and nice to Sasaki.
Tumblr media
And there’s this one. I also think this is another one that many people take it out of context. The problem here isn’t Arima or Akira. It’s Sasaki himself.
In fact this is the recurring problem of Kaneki as a character, he is simply someone with very low self confidence. This is not strange considering what happened to him as a child. He tried to become the son her mother wanted, but she died leaving him alone. He tried to study hard to get praise, yet all he got was colder treatment from his aunt.
When he was white-haired Kaneki, he believed he was strong because he “ate” Rize. Kaneki doesn’t see himself as someone who is capable of becoming strong on his own. He needs others “support” to mentally convince himself of what he can do.
Kaneki’s action from start to end has always been consistent in that he’s afraid of becoming alone. It can also be explained that he believes that if he doesn’t do certain things he will lose the people around him. He does not have the confidence that people will love him for who he is, and that he has to learn how to love himself more. (That’s why Touka punched him in the face for unable to treasure himself.)
Sasaki kept saying that he wanted to do more, to help people surrounding him, to meet expectation, because he thinks that’s all what he amounts to. He’s scared that if he fails to do so, they all will abandon him, CCG will “throw” him away. CCG higher up might do so, but I don’t believe the people who he personally bonded thus far (Arima, Akira) can cut off ties with him so easily. 2 years is a long time for people to get attached to each other.
tl;dr I honestly think that Sasaki being in CCG is a positive thing and is necessary for him to get an actual happy ending.
I can’t be the only person who thinks most characters in CCG are cute. ;u;

What's your theory about Eto in :re?
Well, I have a few! I’ve posted most of them before, but I’ll do a little round-up post now and list all of my thoughts.
1. She’s the One-Eyed King. Ishida told us directly:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. She has plans for Hide. I talked about that a bit here and more in depth here. Tbh, I don’t know what her plans are, if she’s already started them, or anything like that. We haven’t gotten much information about that. But, I’m positive there’s something she wants to do involving Hide, and we might find that out whenever Hide returns.
3. She’s going to confront Sasaki/Kaneki directly at some point. I talked about that a bit here. But basically, I think their stories are connected and parallel in a lot of really important ways, and their relationship is going to culminate in a final confrontation of some sort. I’ll explain this a bit more:
Eto is the first one-eyed ghoul we know of. She was born alone, grew up alone, and doesn’t belong in either the ghoul world or the human world. She exists between worlds. And that’s the root of her motivations.
Kaneki is the first artificial one-eyed ghoul we know of. He was born as a human, became a ghoul and was thrust into the ghoul world, and has now returned to the human world to live straddling the line between both worlds – he’s a ghoul working for humans. But he still hasn’t quite found a place where he fits, where he can exist within both worlds at once. In this way, he resembles Eto – alone, belonging in neither the human nor the ghoul world.
But, as Yoshimura said in his last conversation with Kaneki, he tells Kaneki that he has parts of himself that belong in both worlds, and he hopes that Kaneki can use that to help save Eto.
Tumblr media
So, ultimately, I think Sasaki/Kaneki is going to find a place where he can be within both worlds at the same time. And finding that place will involve confronting Eto – a fellow half-ghoul who is alone (like Sasaki is) and existing between worlds (like Sasaki is).
4. Her ultimate goal is disrupting the balance of the world. When Kaneki is doing his whole investigation thing after the Aogiri arc, he goes to visit Itori for some information, and he has some interesting thoughts:
Tumblr media
So, if he finds Kanou’s goal, he’ll find part of Aogiri’s goal. Makes sense.
Then, when he finds Kanou, who starts talking about how there’s a “twisted birdcage” holding the world back. And then:
Tumblr media
And obviously Eto is very into the idea of more one-eyed ghouls. (See: “We’ll just have to make Kaneki again.”) So, we can assume this whole breaking the birdcage thing is also at least part of Eto’s goals, otherwise there’d be no reason to team up with Kanou.
There’s also that bit where Nico says that according to Tatara, Aogiri’s goal is to “smoke out a liar”. And there’s the whole thing with V. And part of me wonders if we’re going to find out that at the highest levels, V and the CCG are working together to maintain the “birdcage” that Eto and Kanou are out to destroy.
But that’s less of an Eto-centric theory and more of a general idea I’ve been tossing around.
ANYWAY. What this all comes down to is that I think:
Eto is and will continue to be an extremely important character in the overall plot and the events of TG and TG:RE, and we’ll definitely be seeing more of her.
