Got this idea for a crack fic where Hannibal asks Will for a sacrifice, to prove his commitment is real, and Hannibal suggests Will shave Hannibal's chest hair, which as we all know Will loves running his fingers through and clutching. This is very difficult for Will to accept, but he wants to prove himself. So he shaves him in Hannibal's giant bathtub and cries a little while doing so. Hannibal himself is not very attached to his chest hair but he enjoys watching Will suffer, of course. Lolol.

I got this image in my head the other day of Hannibal during Halloween - he would fucking love it and go all out, planning the design of creepy decorations covering his yard months in advance, commission over the top costumes every year. His would be the most popular house to go to in the neighborhood, if not beyond. He would make gourmet, creepy cupcakes and fancy truffles and give them out to children (and take a perverse delight in watching them eat said creepy - but not human flesh inclusive - cupcakes). I know kids accepting homemade goodies isn't super realistic but let me have this lol. I can see him being his charming self when interacting with kids wearing costumes, some of which he has no clue what they are, because he is old. He would also of course take a perverse delight in having so many people at his house, since they wouldn't know who he was. I love it.

I've ruminated on it, and really what I think the premise of The Masseur is about is that Martin has been in The Lonely for several years prior to the story starting. And what I'm writing is the story of him gradually clawing his way out and being carried by others to the outside world. I think I knew this subconsciously, but hadn't really explicated it. For me The Lonely is depression, which I can't control, but it can also be an active coping strategy, as it is for Martin with his extensive past trauma. And through the story, he's slowly discovering that the Lonely has served its purpose, and he isn't actually shackled to it. He can leave if he wants, and other people can help him find the way out, if he lets them.

I hadn't heard this song before, but having just listened to it, I can totally see it!
