Days 56-64 days of productivity | Mon 15 - Tue 24 Apr, 2024

Aaahhh the last week was pure chaos and I wasn’t able to do daily updates! Here’s a big list of everything productive and fun in the last week and a half!

Presented my work project to our stakeholders, who liked it and gave good feedback

Attended the conference I’ve been preparing for weeks

My friend from California who I met at this conference last year also attended this year, we finally caught up IRL

Presented my presentation and poster (finally), it went really well

In a long turn of events, I now have a new boss, and he’s very nice

Announced on my other social medias that I accepted my PhD offer and will be starting this Fall!

Went to a yoga class at a boutique studio with my California conference friend using ClassPass

Ordered cake from my baker neighbor to celebrate my conference presentation and grad school acceptance

Went shopping for my graduation outfit, I got a mid-calf dress that has blue floral embroidery on net

My parents ordered my graduation gift (a new watch), it finally got here and looks amazing

Organized my mail app on my computer

Re-migrated from Chrome to Firefox

Attended a half-day forum on computer vision

Worked on a lot of work things, I don’t have a lot of time but have a lot of things to do lol

Spring is here and so is hayfever, I am d y i n g

The building’s fire alarm went off at an ungodly hour in the morning, cutting off my sleep :/

At work:

Had a lot of work to catch up on, including a ton of emails

Made significant progress on a coding task I need to finish by Friday

Wrote some documentation

At home:

Updated my world travel dashboard with the new cities/states I just visited on my eclipse trip (Ohio, Pittsburgh, West Virginia)

Started writing my eclipse blog

Drove back home, it was a long 7-hour journey back.

Finished editing my eclipse vlog and posted it to YouTube! Now I just need to write the accompanying blog article!

Day 49/100 days of productivity | Mon 8 Apr, 2024 (day of the Great North American Solar Eclipse of 2024)

Watched the Solar Eclipse from Ohio!! It was supposed to be cloudy, but thankfully it cleared up for a great view. During totality, it suddenly got so dark, like sunset. The geese in the park went crazy, and it was so eerie but so beautiful. 10/10 it was an amazing experience!

In terms of actual productivity, I ended up recording a blog narrating my thoughts during the eclipse, so spent some time in the evening editing those clips into a single video.

Day 47/100 days of productivity | Sat 6 Apr, 2024

Didn’t really get much done today. Woke up at 6.30am to get ready for our road trip to Ohio to watch the solar eclipse on Monday. Spent the morning packing, preparing, cleaning, etc. Embarked on our 6-hour journey around noon. Drove through north Maryland, Pennsylvania, and finally Ohio! Y’all, the scenery was so picturesque the whole way through (1st pic, 2nd pic). Perfection *chefs kiss* We finally got to our destination in the evening at a family friend’s place, and they have two dogs who are such good bois (3rd pic is Milo the good boi). Spent the evening catching up and chatting, very fun.

Came back home in the afternoon because I didn’t have any more meetings, continued to wfh in my pajamas (:

Caught up with my friend on FaceTime after a few weeks! We formed this online professional community but it’s mainly just us two who meet weekly, but we’ve been busy the last few weeks! She’s visiting my city next week for a conference we’re both attending, so I’m really excited to see her again!

Went out to dinner (Olive Garden) with my sister, we had a great time! She insisted on getting dessert (2nd pic), which I have to admit was very delicious 🤤

Bonus: peep the clouds being dramatic (1st pic)!

Signed and submitted my grad school offer letter!! AaaaaaAAAHHHH!!

I didn’t really do too much after coming back home because I had a weird stomachache and was curled up in bed in misery :( but I’m super excited for grad school!!!

Today in lecture we talked about spectroscopic photoemission low energy electron microscopy, or SPELEEM, which you can pretty much only do in Sweden. It basically allows you to do PEEM, LEEM, and XPEEM with one instrument.

I think physicists should be in charge of coming up with the names for every single thing forever.
