“I can’t… you’re going to have to carry me.”

“Hey, you passed out. Do you remember what happened?”

“No more today, you’re at your limit.”

“I’m can’t move… I’m too tired…”

“You’re starting to ramble, you need rest.”

“What was that over there…? Did you say something?”

“Nap… please? Nap with me?”

“My subconscious isn’t exactly allowing me to get some damn sleep.”

“I can’t lift it without shaking…”

“You’re too weak to stop me from stopping you.”

“I don’t even have the energy to be defiant… I must be messed up.”

“Standing up is about all I can do.”

“You can tell me all about how tired you aren’t while I carry you to bed.”

“It’s been three days… does it make sense now?”

“Whatever you need me to do so you’ll stop and rest, I’ll do it.”

“Don’t force my hand. This is your last chance to stop yourself.”

“Your health is deteriorating. Take a break or I’ll make you.”

“You’re wrong, I’m fine. I know I’m fine… I’m fine…”

“Telling yourself that you’re okay doesn’t make it true. We need to get you safe and rested.”

“Yes, you did it and you’re alive, shut up. I was worried half to death you idiot!”

“Tired enough for cuddling huh…”

“You shush… shhh… shhhhuuushhh…”

“Oh great bed rest warden, may I be allowed freedom from my prison today?”

“You’re shaking, and sore. I can see the exhaustion in your eyes.

👆 A powerful denouement doesn’t just “end the story.” It validates it. This means validating changes that happened during because of the story. Show evidence of what has been lost, defeated, gained, or won. So after a romantic conflict, you may show the couple getting married. If someone died in the climax, you may show a funeral. If the protagonist completed a character arc, we need to see him acting as a changed person. Was the antagonist defeated? Show that he, she, or it is now gone from the world.

Because it happens so rarely that Solas can’t seem to find the right words but when he does, it’s pretty funny.

Also, notice how most of these happen when

- He clearly knows more about the subject and wants to elaborate but can’t because either no one is supposed to know that ancient knowledge or it might just cross the line of the “Saw it in the Fade” excuse. lmaoo

- He slips up and barely catches himself.

- Trying to remember something from 8000 years ago.

- Talking to Sera and just giving up.

- It’s Lavellan and he gets all flustered. <3

- We’re all clueless children and he’s very clearly on the verge of despair.

Also love how he veeery slightly breaks on “then mages” when giving suggestions of what could’ve inspired the legends of the elven gods, like he realized mid-sentence “Oh shit, gotta watch my words”. lmao

CONFESSION:

On my first playthrough of Inquisition, I loved Cassandra. She and my Trevelyan rogue got along well. I made her divine, but I was disappointed she did nothing but keep things the same. My second playthrough, I made Vivienne divine because my Lavellan mage wanted mages to have rights. ( The mages were allies and Vivienne and I got along amazingly)And I was happier with Vivienne as Divine. In both of playthroughs Vivienne didn’t attack anybody at the end. Because of her respect for me and Cassandra she let’s the College of Enchanters go. But, if she becomes Divine Cassandra leaves because she says Vivienne is a tyrant. I find that strange Vivienne has so much respect for Cassandra but Cassandra has none for her. Even if you make hardened Leliana divine Cassandra won’t leave and Leliana kills alot more people than Vivienne. I feel as if it all comes down to Vivienne being a mage. If you support Vivienne as divine Cassandra will disapprove, but if you support Cassandra, Vivienne will approve. Cassandra is all talk, she doesn’t care about changing the status quo. Her ending is the least progressive and she’s a bigot. She talks a lot about change but does nothing.

Hi. In a recent argument about the Circles, someone made the point that snr. Ench. Sweeney from DAO mage origin was allegedly allowed to casually marry and have children, only returning due to advanced age and his family being allowed to visit. It was used as an example for mages rather "being free to leave". Supposedly, Sweeney can tell this dialogue, but it is heavily bugged. Do you know anything about it?

So either that person is confused or spreading misinformation. Here is the exact dialogue, taken from the game files:

Jowan says, “Sweeney was married to a non-mage. His children came here a few years ago to take him home. They wanted him to live out his remaining years surrounded by family. The templars turned them down flat. They thought an old mage who might not have full control over his faculties was a danger.”

Sweeney himself says, “Spending time with the family is nice. I get to see them when they visit on Andraste's Day. But honestly, I'm used to being here. Nothing wrong with it. At my age, you don't like moving around much.”

When Sweeney was married is unmentioned. It’s far more likely that he was married and had kids before being taken to the Circle.

It is overtly said that Sweeney is not allowed to leave the Circle to be with his family, despite them wanting to take him back home.

His family visits him once a year, and I imagine that alone probably took a lot of pull to do so, since it’s otherwise been said that mages do not see their families ever again.
