15. Things you said with too many miles between us

Ooohohoo Valenwind, okay okay *pops knuckles* let's see what the ole brain comes up with! 😉

"Nah, not that one, the one- the one behind that other one. No, no, not that one either, just- to yer left, my left, shit."

Vincent's hand hovers in the air as he glances behind him, to the chipped voice coming through the laptop speakers. Wine-dark eyes fix to the tiny square on the screen that shows the rough, stubbled face of Cid trying to direct him to the chamomile tea, buried in the cupboards with all the other teas, of course.

"Is it even in this cupboard?" Vincent's gravelly voice asks, clear on his end, but most assuredly pixelated through the cheap speakers.

"It's in there, it's the green box behind the two yellow boxes on my left."

Eyes back to the cupboard, Vincent scans, hand precariously shifting the tiny boxes of teabags around to search. But lo and behold, there sits the green box of camomile tea exactly where Cid said. Albeit not without a bit of confusion.

"How long do I cook it for again?" Vincent asks as a slender hand reaches in, procuring a bag from the box.

"Boil, not cook." Cid corrects with a gruff huff.

"Boil, then."

"5 minutes." Cid says, Vincent glancing at the little screen to see him hold up five gloved fingers. "You could do 3 for a quicker fix but it's not gonna taste as good."

"I see. When do I add the milk and honey again?"

"After it's done steepin'. Gah, Vince you act like this is the first time ya've ever made tea in yer life."

"It's been a while. Normally... you're the one who makes it." Vincent's voice falls just of so slightly flat as he clicks on the stove to boil the water.

Cid sighs, rough yet gentle at the same time. Yes, he's always making the tea when he can. He likes making it. Likes seeing Vincent's stoic face light up (barely at all, but that's more than enough for him) when he takes the first sip. It's something that takes his mind off the stress, off the constant itch for nicotine, off of a lot of the bad shit he doesn't like to ruminate on.

This is the first time in a long time Cid hasn't been there to make Vincent's nightly tea. The shift in routine is strange, off, like the sky and the earth had switched places.

"I'd prefer it if it was you making the tea tonight." Vincent honestly says, watching the water on the stove sit. "The kitchen... it's cold."

"I know..." Cid sighs, much less rough, a lot more soft. "It's cold at HQ too." Before he has a chance to let his walls fall completely, he quickly sniffs and crooks his mouth into a snarky smirk. "But someone's gotta boss these cockamamie brats around, an' we all know I'm the best at it!"

The faintest of grins pulls at Vincent's lips. "That you are." He seconds just as the water rolls to a boil. "The new pilots won't yell at themselves, after all." Kills the heat. Pours it into his usual mug.

"Exactly. Don't forget to add the honey and then the milk."

"Right-"

"-The cold of the milk makes it harder for the honey to dissolve." "The cold of the milk makes it harder for the honey to dissolve."

They both speak at the same time, ears buzzing from the similar pitch. At that, Cid guffaws, wipes under his nose with his index finger. "Guess you remember how I do things after all."

"A bit." Vincent dunks the tea bag into the mug, steeping the drink. "Though, I await the night you're back home and brew up a mug for the both of us."

"That so?" Cid fights the blush trying to form on his cheeks.

Vincent's dark eyes catch to the screen his partner sits on the other side of with a deep, yet genuine smile. "It always tastes better when I take the first sip from your mug."

A little ritual of there's. Cid would always say 'Now that's a fine mug a' tea right there, give it a taste, Vince'. Vincent would always take that small sip, rich and warm with the sweetest flavor. It was always one of his favorite parts of the night. Cid would beam proud every time he'd take that first sip and smile.

"Well then, I'll just have ta' yell extra loud at these punks so they get their asses in gear quicker!" Cid laughs, belly-deep.

"Don't traumatize them." Vincent's jokes always come out flat and monotonous-

More laughter from Cid.

-But his partner always knows when he's joking. Always knows just how he feels even when his face and his words don't match.

"No promises, Vince. Now drink that tea before it gets cold, you know how I feel about lettin' a good tea go cold."

"Yes, yes." Vincent smirks.

❤ What is your favorite line you've written in a fic?

Well, I have a lot of lines I absolutely love to death, too many to list here, so to save time I'm going to share my favorite line/scene from my latest WIP - sorry for the length, but the whole thing is just, I love it 💚

“As much as I’d like to do this all day,” He sighs, a gentle squeeze to that thinner torso held in between his arms and chest. “You’ve got some paperwork to finish.” “Oh, and you don’t?” Barnaby scoffs with a laugh. “No—I’ve got a crossword puzzle with my name on it.” For that, Barnaby reaches up and tips his hat over his eyes. “Old man…” He endearingly huffs. Kotetsu just grins with the brim of his hat still blocking out his eyes.

👓 What helps you focus when you write?

Music with chill vibes helps me focus the most! The kind that's just, atmospheric and with little to no words. 🌠 (Like this playlist in general. I listened to this one the entire time I wrote my last story!) It keeps my brain from trying to find a distraction, and not having to worry about lyrics or genres that are too abruptly different really helps! 🎶 Just me, my tunes, vibes, and words 🌟

💌 Is there a favorite trope you like to write?

Well, I know I love reading friends to lovers and found family, but I don't actually write it all that much. Tropes that I do write though, I am big big big on - well, does hurt/comfort count as a trope? Because that is so delicious to write 🤤 Taking a character that's been put through the grinder emotionally/physically/metaphorically and to have another one embrace them for all their wounded parts and encourage them, comfort them, support them... It is so good and some form of hurt/comfort always finds its way into my fics 😆

I will start with the wildest of tigers 🐯💚 And since there's two, I'll put this under a read more cut so I don't flood anyone else's dash XD

Kotetsu

Sexuality HC: I'm leaning towards Bi with Demi tendencies for him

A Ship I Have With Said Character: Obviously Taibani - though a close second is Kotetsu/Tomoe because 🥺😭💗 He loved her so much, gah!

BROTP: Kotetsu and Antonio, like, they already go way back, to high school if I remember correctly. They always go out for drinks together and they always just seem to have a good chill time together 🌟

NOTP: Karina and Kotetsu. Like, I can see the appeal but i just do not vibe with it lol Like she's 16 in the beginning of season 1, and Kotetsu is like, 35? Like he is almost/practically old enough to be her dad. It's not the age gap I have a problem with really, it's mainly more that I kind of think of my dad when I see Kotetsu? Like, my dad and him share the same birthday and they both act goofy, aren't always around for their kid but try their best? I can't help but kind of think of my dad sometimes when I think of Kotetsu so, thinking of Karina x Kotetsu it's like 'that would be like if I dated my dad fjdbfkdjb' just can't do it man 😂 Sorry for the ramble there! 😂

Random HC: One of mine I like to ruminate on is Kotetsu accidentally hurting his family members when he was a kid and first developed his NEXT powers. Like, that scene in season 1, during the flashback of the bank robbery? In the sub, the dialogue reads 'I'm not supposed to touch anyone when I'm shining like this', compared to the dub that simply says 'don't come near me' - like, the sub implying he was told to not be near people, to not touch them, and that got my brain going: What if he was told he wasn't allowed to touch anyone because he might have accidentally really hurt a friend/classmate/family member before he had total control? 👀 cough cough Kotetsu's dad perhaps?? cough cough 👀

General Opinion: I love him. He's dorky, funny, earnest, tries too hard, fucks stuff up, but never gives up. Despite his past and hardships he is still a positive person and always sees things through to the end. A type of person I wanna be. 💚 Less formal version: I want to put him in a blender and drink him 😂

Barnaby

Sexuality HC: He gives me Ace/Demi vibes 💜

A Ship I Have With Said Character: Taibani once again - no contender for me XD

BROTP: Barnaby and Mattia - the childhood friends. They catch up and talk about their work and even vent with each other, springing for dinner every now and again. I love the side of Barnaby we get to see when Mattia is around, he seems almost carefree, it's nice. They vibe well together ❤

NOTP: Oh man, I haven't really though of a NOTP for him?? 😅 I guess I wouldn't want to see him put with Maverick, because like, not only did he orchestrate the most traumatic events of Barnaby's life he was also a father figure for him before that. Otherwise, I dunno 😆

Random HC: Speaking of Maverick, I HC that he wiped/altered a lot more of Barnaby's memories than we were shown. Like, thanks to the comic anthology I saw one chapter that kind of made a little point at that and it's stuck with me ever since. Like, if Barnaby ever started to rebel at a younger age then Maverick would alter his memory. Got too close to discovering the truth? Nope, no he didn't, silly boy that was just a bad dream. So much to the point where Barnaby has trouble remembering his past at all and can't help but feel like even his memories aren't his own. Good angsty potential - and potential me and a friend discuss frequently 👌

General Opinion: At first I was like 'okay we got a cocky pretty boy, alright, he seems alright, let's see what he can do' and then the more I watched the show the more I really loved his character. How he always seemed so poised and suave and haughty - like he's confident definitely and he knows it, but also that sensitivity, that raw emotion and anger he displays - it is so incredibly human and realistic what drives him to do what he does and act the way he does. Slowly learning over time that his life has room for more than just revenge. Now I like him just as much as Kotetsu ❤

Wow, I really went deep into some of these answers my goodness! 7. Post a snippet from a wip With Barnaby’s portions in hand, Kotetsu carefully steps out of the kitchen, walking into the living room with a soft smile on his face. He sets the bowl down against a small coffee table just a few feet away from the couch. (Also bought on one of Kotetsu’s mentions).

“Here you go, baby bunny.” He softly says as he sets the water down next to it.

A flush of red on Barnaby’s face from the extra sweet term of endearment. “Thank you.” He says in despite of that coyness.

“Of course.” Kotetsu smiles. “Here, let me…”

He trails off, but when Barnaby shifts ever so slightly, he’s already on the move to help him reposition himself. With how his partner had his leg clutched, he’s obviously in pain, and moving himself around too much makes it flare up worse. Though with someone to help, it eases the strain. (Coming soon to an ao3 account near you lol! 😂)

13. Do you listen to music while you write? If yes, what have you been listening to recently? It varies, but more often than not I've got something playing to keep me from getting too distracted. I tend to put on songs without words, or songs that I've heard over and over and haven't gotten sick of yet. Lately when I've been writing, due to my faltering mentality, I've been listening to this and this to keep me both distracted and focused as possible. 🎧

22. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles? 95% percent of the time I come up with the tile before I even start writing. It's hard for me to start if I don't have a good title. I can think of an idea, flesh it out in my head, but until I come up with a title it stays there lol! I come up with titles from songs, not-so-common words, or smashing two words or things together. It varies depending on the idea.

34. How much personal/life experience do you include in your fics? A lot. Writing is usually how I process a lot of thoughts and feelings I don't normally allow myself to have or act on. Or its experiences I want to have, or things I was denied when I was younger that I can give myself through words now. Maybe even just to think 'wouldn't it be fucked up if this happened??' and going with it lol 😂

45. What genre/trope do you tend to write the most? My go-to trope is tied between hurt/comfort and fluff and my go-to trope is friends to lovers. Hurt/comfort has always been a good push and pull for me. I love writing how characters would react/act to bad/painful/stressful situations, and when the tension dies down, having something or someone warm, soft and comforting waiting to help pick them back up. And fluff is just, so sweet and fun to write. I've always had a knack for the cute, fun stuff in writing and art. Just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside hearing it. Ties in very well with hurt/comfort too, like an extra layer of glue. 👌 And friends to lovers has always been a thing I've gravitated towards even as a child. Mainly based on my own experiences. When watching movies, reading books and playing games I always thought 'how could someone just fall for someone they don't even know? I wish X went for their best friend, they've known each other for so long! It seems unfair!' (might've been the demi/ace in me too lol 🖤🤍💜) There's a connection between friends, especially friends that grew up together. They've seen the other through every stage of their life, shared secrets and late nights and pinkie promises, adventures and heartaches all the same - I always thought what's more intimate and special for a partner than that? 💗

💖 Which of your fics is your pride and joy?

Tough call, really tough call lol. I love all of the fics I write and It's hard for me to pick a pride and joy fic. So I'll narrow it down for myself a little. One of my pride and joys is an unposted fic but I plan to post when I finish writing it! (wish me luck though I started writing it in 2018 😅) And the other is Dragonheart, which I poured a ton of love, time and effort into, 8 years of time to be exact. I'm not even at the halfway point yet! Hoo boy why do I do this to myself XD

🤩 What's the most meaningful comment you've ever received?

Again, a very very hard question lol! 😆 I've gotten so many wonderful comments over the years I don't think I'd be able to narrow it down! For me, it's not even really about the comments though. When I think back to those people who left those comments, I think more of the connection and conversation I built with them more than anything. I think of meaningful comments and I circle right back to meaningful people. Some of which I may no longer interact with, but I wish them well and I hope they're doing alright 💚 Shoutouts to Ziggypasta, FanimationDanimation, Kadajlover, Wingedladycolette, Up-sideand-down, MikeyZ, Secluded-Delusions, and you too isle! 💖 These wonderful people (and more!) left me not only wonderful words, but their own wonderful stories and even more wonderful memories.

🟥 How long do you spend in edits?

I give it a once or twice over, unless I find myself in 'reading my own wips and getting caught up in reading so I never actually do any edits aside from fixing 1 typo' XD So it either gets a quick run through or I sit on it for 3 years 😆

🦗 Do you write in sequence or jump around?

Sequence oh jeeze sequence all the way. I cannot jump around in a story at all lmao! If i don't write it in order, I don't write it at all!

🛌 What's a trope you haven't written yet but want to?

I've mentioned this one before elsewhere but I really would like to try my hand at fake dating XD I love fake dating stories that turn into real dating 💚 'pretend to be engaged with me so we can get free wedding cake samples' 'hey pretend you're my date because my parents won't leave me alone about finding someone' 'hey can you pretend to be my kid's second parent for X event, I promise I won't fall in love with you or anything' <- liar 😂 I just never get around to it lol I wanna write it, but I'd also really love to read a good one lol!

11. A song that you never get tired of 🎵

That would be Atmospheric Light by Celldweller. Though this track in particular is a promo/unreleased version of the official song. But this one is special to me and I have very good memories of it. (You can actually see one of my comments on this video I left about a year ago lol) I've been listening to this song for over 10 years and every time it plays it just brings me back to a chill - though hectic and stressful - but also good time of my life; a slice of peace among rough waters so to speak. 💖

20. A song that has many meanings to you 💭

That one would be Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden This is a song I've known and loved since childhood.It holds a near and dear spot in my heart. It always made me think of loving someone with all that you are, reminded me of my relationship with my mom; how we'd sing this song together driving in her car, just me and her, recording this song on a cassette tape and replaying it on every drive. Imagining loving and living until the end of your days, the end of it all. A time of innocence and hope, when everything was bright and I could look to the future with confidence. Granted, life has been hard, and I may not be where I want to be now and how I imagined myself in the future - I've fallen and stumbled, lost myself and my way so many times. But I'm still here. And I'll stay here, living and loving, truly, madly, and deeply 💖💚 Though a close, near tie number 2 is Follow Me by Uncle Kracker for just about the same reasons above - it was very hard to pick between them so I'm including it anyway lol.

19. A song that makes you think about life 🫂 (My choice)

That'd be Hated By Life Itself covered by Mafumafu, (original by Kanzaki Iori) I'd recommend turning subtitles on for this one as it's in Japanese. But, this song just screams 'life' from the very first line. It's raw, powerful. It captures the pains, struggles, and emptiness about life while regardless of it all, living on as best we can, even if we say we hate our lives. Killing, laughing, struggling, living. Live Live Live Just Live 💚

7. Your Favorite AO3 Tag ⭐

That's probably a tie between hurt/comfort and sick fic! Sometimes the two go hand-in-hand, but most of the time they're neck-and-neck with each other! XD Either way, they're the go-to when it comes to writing/reading!

17. Past or Present Tense? Why? ⌛

Present tense for me. I used to write past tense for a long time, but I hated how far away I felt from my own writing with it. Once I read a really good present-tense fic a few years ago, I made the switch. It grabbed me so well and really made me feel like I was truly there watching it all unfold! That was something I wanted for my writing, so I made it happen and now there's no going back for me lol! 😂

22. What is it about watching the same two idiots falling in love over and over again?

What isn't it about?? 😂 The familiarity, the comfort, the opportunities and possibilities, the safety. It's everything 🌟 It's like a favorite food - you cook/buy it for yourself when you're in the mood, just because you can, if you're feeling down and need a pick me up... it's something you can just jump right into knowing you're going to love it and not have any second thoughts about it. I know how it's going to play out and yet I don't at the same time. It's fun, it's relaxing, it's rousing and calming. An adventure I've been on countless times that never gets old. It's just, awesome 💚

29. What's the hardest thing about writing?

it's a tie between starting, and keeping my focus long enough! These days when I write it's been very hard to start and get in the groove. I overthink almost every sentence so it's hard to keep a good pace, which ties in with focus. I focus too hard and then after only writing like, 300 words my brain decides that's enough, and checks out! Man, I cannot crank out 14k word chapters anymore 😅 best I can do when I'm on a roll these days is 2k XD

38. 'This never happened' fix-it fics, or 'this happened but-' fix-it fics?

This answer depends on the source/fandom honestly! I've done both! In my oldest fandom I write a lot more 'this never happened', (eg: no my favorite character did not die, now here's a 125k+ fic where he's alive XD) but with some of my smaller ones or newer ones, I've entertained or thought about 'happened but-' fics! (eg: Tiger & Bunny - Kotetsu losing his power but what if it happened differently? haven't got around to that one yet but yknow XD)

My unpopular opinion on something coming right up!

I don't vibe with CloudxAerith, like at all. I can see the appeal and the potential, but me personally, I don't like it lol like, to me for a long time, Aerith was only interested in Cloud because he was exactly like Zack. At the time when I just played Crisis core I was like "HE DIED FOR YOU WTF AERITH NOW YOU DONT CARE?" that kind of stuff lol XD it took me a long time to even like Aerith as a character of I'm being honest. Now I positively love her!

No hate on the ship at all, it's just not for me 😆

Barnaby, Bunny, the grumpy grump with a heart of gold 💛 My responses are kind of lengthy, so I'll put them under a read more.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character: His devotion. Right off the bat we're shown how incredibly devoted he is to his goals and ideals and the people he cares about. How determined he is to figure things out, seek out the truth and find justice and closure for his past. He starts off prickly, walls up, cocky and full of himself, but later on down the line we learn just how kind and caring he really is, how he hides that behind this wall he's built around himself. No matter what, even if his resolve shakes, he still has that drive, that devotion, to keep going, seeking, being and doing better. It's awesome. A+++ character dynamic 🥇

5. First song that comes to mind when you think about them: I literally cannot think of a better one than No Farewell, by, Barnaby himself (Technically his Japanese VA Masakazu Morita, but you know 🎧)

18. Relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire: Call me basic here, but Kotetsu, all the way lol 🐯 But for more than just the obviousness of their closeness, it's more than that for me. Initially, we see Barnaby as this flippant, cocky young man who seems suave, put-together and sure (As mentioned above lol) but slowly, he learns to trust Kotetsu, trust his partner. He confides in him more, he breaks down and cries in front of him (more than once!!) and through that trust, a real connection forms between them. A connection that even though is rocky and turbulent, is still so strong. They truly have each other's backs and literally, come hell or high water, will do anything to protect the other. And just, I really relate to Barnaby in terms of struggling to trust, to let your walls down and show people just how vulnerable you really are. That takes so much courage and strength, and I find that so admirable. I hope one day I can trust and be vulnerable like that too. 💚

21. If you're a fic writer, what's your favorite thing to do when writing for them? What's your least favorite? Springing off the above here, I really like writing Barnaby's vulnerability. I love shedding down those walls of his character and getting nitty and gritty with his complex way of feeling. To have this wall around them, to crumble it bit by bit until all that's left is that raw softness like, hyenas hunting an antelope. Brutal, but nourishing in its own way. 🥩 Least favorite though? Getting in the right headspace to write the above!! It takes a lot of mental work to get deep into the minds of how I think this character would react to certain situations or events, without blending too much of myself into it, and without making any response seem OOC. The heavier the emotions the harder it is to write. That's why it took me nearly a month to write my latest T&B fic. It had very heavy themes and trying to write that realistic, while in character, while also adding my own touch and flair, it was draining! lol 😅 But all in all, it's still fun to do in the end 💗

For the "I love you" Prompts: Number 4 with Zack/Cloud

Send me a platonic or romantic relationship and a number and I'll write a short fic!

4. "I don't mind."

Cloud's PHS goes off just as he heads out of his flat, the sound of a tiny puppy yip echoed from his pocket--Zack. He's the only one with that notification sound installed on his PHS. He takes it from his pocket as he walks down the hall, flipping it open to see the message inside with a soft smile.

But when he skims through the text he stops walking just as he gets close to the elevator, smile falling.

'I'm real sorry Spike, I've come down with something pretty nasty so going to the movies probably wouldn't be a good idea right now'. Complete with a ':c' following the statement.

Well that blows. They've been planning to see this movie since they released the first trailer like 5 months ago! They requested advance time off missions and drills so they could see it together, go on a little date. (Which they hadn't gotten to do in what felt like 18 eternities as it's hard for a freshly appointed 3rd Class to have a schedule lined up with a seasoned 1st Class SOLDIER.)

Cloud sighs and puts his phone back into the pocket of his loose black jeans. He spins on his heel and puts his hand back on the handle of his door. But he stops and hums.

Y'know what, he's got an even better idea than not seeing the movie. But first, a quick stop to the convenience store.

Out of all the things Zack was expecting to hear while he laid in bed, a fist pounding against the front door to his flat was not one of them. He slowly lifts his head from his cocoon of blankets and pillows, as though if he sits up and looks around his bedroom he'll magically know who's banging on his door.

But it doesn't take long for a voice to resound.

"It's Cloud, I'm coming in." And the door unlocks with a beep and a click.

Wait, Cloud? But- didn't he get his text? There's no way he can go to a movie with a fever and aches and congestion! Even so, he goes to get out of his bed all things despite to tell him in person, just in case he might've missed the notification.

Before he even has a chance to push the blankets off him, Cloud appears right outside his bedroom door.

"You look awful." He smiles.

So sassy. But Zack loves it. Makes a smile of his own bloom across his face (though he's sure his looks queasy in comparison).

"Brought you a care package."

Cloud holds up a plastic bag in his right hand a little higher, and through the hazy white plastic Zack can make out some small, boxy lumps. He closes the distance between them and sits right next to him against his blanket swarmed bed.

"So you got my message after all?" He asks with a voice more suited for a crossbred offspring of a horse and a frog.

"Yeah." He says as he starts pulling things out of the sack. "We haven't been able to see each other in 2 months thanks to our schedules, so I wasn't about to let this stop me."

Somehow Zack feels guilty about that. "Sorry." He croaks.

"It's okay, it happens." Cloud flashes him a quick grin to quell his worries. "I got you some pain relievers, cough syrup, nasal decongestant, some hot and cold patches, cough drops too, and a chocolate bar from the candy section. I know how much you love those Canyoncrunch bars." He points to each thing he pulled out of the bag, labeling them all as he goes.

"You really didn't have to do this for me, Cloud, really." Zack laughs as a blush paints his already flushed face a little redder. Normally he's the one spoiling and doting on Cloud, so it feels different when the roles are reversed.

"No, but I wanted to. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn't take care of you the same way you do for me?"

Cloud actually leans in and kisses him on the cheek, despite his sickness.

"C-Cloud, if you aren't careful you're gonna catch what I caught..." Zack blushes fiercer and clears his throat.

"I don't mind." Cloud smiles warm enough to melt ice. "As long as we get to spend some time together, it doesn't bother me."

Zack smiles and the blush recedes.

Though 3 days later, Zack finds himself over at Cloud's flat, holding him close while Cloud's wrapped up in blankets sporting the same fever, aches, and congestion he had already. The only difference is he's spoon-feeding him ice-cream constantly to try and fight off his much higher temperature and soothe his sore throat. 3rd Classes aren't as impervious to illnesses as 1sts after all.

And when Cloud asked him if he was okay with constantly getting him ice cream from the one place 10 miles away that has his favorite flavor, Zack smiled, kissed him, and said,

"I don't mind."

Oh goodness that's a tough one I've made SO many in the past 10 years it's really hard to choose! Originally I would have shared one from a webcomic I wanted to make but for the life of me I cannot find that old sketchpad! 😅

So here's one I made back in 2018, so I apologize for how it looks in comparison to what I draw now xD

This is Primrose

A forest being that has leaf-like hair and skin, and I know the flower on his head was important, but I can't remember the details as to why that is 😅 something to do with his lifespan/emotions I think! He also had a little forest fairy as a best friend but I never got around to drawing her lol

Though if I can ever find that sketchpad with all of those OC's I originally wanted to show, I might post those lol

I almost lost you kiss Pairing: Cloud/Zack (clack)

Let's do this~

Cloud expects to find the cold, hard cliffs to meet him first when he opens his eyes. After all, why wouldn’t he? He dodged an enemy attack and leapt himself right off a cliff. Tumbled down its face and hit the ground right on his head.

But that isn’t the case when his eyes do finally part. It’s not the sight of rocks, jagged and sharp that meet his cerulean sights. It’s not the sight of crimson blood that swims in his vision. Nay. It’s the white-washed walls of a hospital room that greet his blurred sight. A TV on and softly playing some unheard of news station fluff-piece. Thin seafoam sheets over his body swaddling every rise and valley of his aching form. The beeping of a cardiac monitor gaining speed as he stirs from unconsciousness.

He must’ve hit his head hard to suddenly find himself waking up in a hospital room with no idea what time it is, what day it is, or how he got here in the first place; delirious, aching and tired.

He glances to the right to take inventory of his room. Standard sights of medical charts atop a counter, care instructions and patient information written on a whiteboard in faded blue marker, and a closed door to a bathroom greet his sight just now starting to clear from the long unconscious blur.

The halls outside his room are bright, the doors are closed, and in fact he only has one light on in his room, a small bedside lamp. It must be very late in the night or very early in the morning then, he deduces. Over to his left－

There’s a figure slumped over his bed, arms curled around their face, half sitting in a chair and half laying near his waist. But it’s a figure he knows well, a figure he loves deeply; Zack. Even though he sleeps, there are lilac bags under his eyes, coupled with a faint 5 o’ clock shadow trailing his jaw and his unruly hair even more mussed than usual. Judging from his appearance, he’s been here a while. Which raises the question, how long exactly has he been out?

Internally grimacing at the thought of waking his boyfriend, but not wanting to be kept in the dark of what happened, Cloud decides to untangle one of his hands from the sheets and nudges at one of Zack’s arms.

His bulky, bigger form twitches and with an ungracious snort, Zack snaps awake with half-lidded eyes and his jaw slightly parted, eyes darting around the room as though he were a student that fell asleep in class.

But the moment, the second, the instant, those tired Mako blues catch him in their sights, those eyelids raise and those eyes pop. Immediately after, they swell, thick and globby pearls clogging his ducts before they spill unceremoniously down his cheeks.

“Cloud!” Zack cries and immediately wraps him up into the tight, suffocating bear hugs he’s known for. “Oh, Gaia, I-I was so worried! You weren’t moving for so long! You- you were unconscious for so long!” The pearly tears drip and Cloud instinctively blinks when they land on his nose.

Zack forces himself to take a few deep breaths and sheds the pearls from his eyes, placing a kiss to Cloud’s forehead oh so gently, as if not being gentle with his lips would cause him to shatter into millions of pieces.

“I almost lost you…” He whimpers into his hair.

“Zack… what happened?” Cloud asks, his tired voice caught between a horse and a frog.

“Well, you fell, for starters. Right off the face of a cliff!”

“I… remember that. At least, my head sure does.”

“I remember you rolled for quite some time before you hit the bottom head first. Ugh, I’ll never forget that sound. Crack!” Zack clenches his throat and growls to emulate the sound of Cloud’s skull hitting the ground.

Makes him shudder out of reflex, which draws those broad arms around him tighter.

“I quickly finished off the monsters and got down to you as soon as I could, but you weren’t moving, didn’t respond to anything. Thank the Goddess you were even breathing.”

Hands comb through his hair, and at first the touch makes Cloud’s head sting, but those fingers work a calming spell over him and instead brings warmth beyond the initial stinging application.

“I called for a helicopter and got us back to Midgar as fast as possible. I’ve barely left your side since they admitted you and that was about 4 days ago.”

“4 days??” Cloud’s voice cracks and the frog jumps out. The fingers in his hair pause, but are quick to resume again as he continues to explain.

“You had a lot of swelling, which after a lot of thought and risk, prompted the doctor’s to put you into a medically induced coma to combat that. They said due to the amount of swelling they’d have no idea how soon you’d wake up, if you would at all…”

Now he stays quiet.

“But yesterday when they got some more scans, they noticed the swelling had gone down exponentially, and they hoped you’d be waking up soon. And, here you are.” Zack smiles carefully at him.

“So… you said you’ve barely left… you’ve… been here the whole time?”

“I’ve only left when Shinra called for me. Otherwise I’ve been glued to your hip since. The nurses can vouch for that if you don’t believe me.”

“Oh, I believe you, Mr. Puppy With Separation Anxiety.” Cloud endearingly jeers, knowing just how close and clingy Zack always was around him.

But if anything, he’s glad Zack’s been here. Makes this whole situation a lot less scary, even if his head does still ache. But when another soft kiss is planted in his hair, his head almost stops hurting.

Three Ships:

Cloud/Zack - FFVII: I remember when I first started shipping this about 10 or so odd years ago, even still have the first art I ever drew of the ship lol! But I’ve loved it for such a long time, there was just something about two best friends through thick and thin, with their cute little x arm handshake thing, Zack inviting Cloud to lunch (even though Cloud is currently suffering from motion sickness lmao bad timing there Zack XD) and that he cared for Cloud for like 4 fucking years in his comatose state, he never left him behind, literally died for him when he could have just abandoned him, but he didn’t. And of course in Advent Children when Zack shows up and asks if he needs a hand with Sephiroth, reminds him what he is. I love it so much 💚 It will always be my favorite ship of all time 💗

Zagreus/Thanatos - Hades: I love their dynamic. Like, they used to be close before Zagreus started his attempts to leave the underworld, but then when he started, a distance grew between them. And the first time you encounter him in the game you can tell there’s some animosity between them ‘no escaping from death?’ ‘I left when I had to’ ‘If you won’t say it then I will - goodbye Zagreus’ and then the more you encounter him and gift him ambrosia the closer you become again, mending that once broken trust and friendship, eventually ending up together. ‘I’m right here, aren’t I?’ I love it 🥰

Galo/Lio - Promare: Literally Happy goofy sunshine boy meets grumpy grump boy. Their relationship begins so rocky, as enemies; firefighter against burnish. And the more that time passes, Galo realizes the Burnish don’t burn for no reason, that they are humans just like them, and how could he not realize the truth of what’s happening. Eventually needing to work together to save the earth they call their home. Galo even bringing Lio back to life when he’s about to crumble to ash. I loved their dynamic a ton and how their personalities clashed before they found a way to get along and work together. It’s very good!

First Ship: Inuyasha and Kagome - Inuyasha. I started shipping these 2 when I was 11 after my brother get me into the series, starting with the Castle in the Looking Glass movie. Then I went and watched all the anime and read a ton of the manga books. It’s the earliest ship I can remember, and one of the first fanfics I ever wrote 😆

Last Song: Everglow by Starset (I really really love this band and I’ve been on a Starset kick for months now)

Currently consuming: Does Vicks Cough and Congestion medicine count? That’s the last thing I downed 😆 (Yeah, still sick as hell 👍)

Currently craving: Nothing in terms of food, I have 0 appetite 😭 I am craving no longer being sick and playing Crisis Core again! 😆 I’ve been ill since Wednesday like plzzz XD
