does anyone know any small company/small business that sells quality reptile terrariums? I’m looking for all glass terrariums with doors that don’t have crappy tops that will bend/melt from a heat lamp.

Wondering if anyone has personal experience with Zen Habitat enclosures? I am still considering options for Stanley's upgraded tank and trying not to allow myself to be won over purely by the beauty factor of Zen habitats

What about a Slowpoke? Would be a good pet? I love them so much 🥺
Tumblr media
Good news! A slowpoke would indeed be a good, if sluggish, pet!
Slowpokes are pretty heavy, and larger than you’d think a nearly four feet long! This certainly may be too large for some owners, but considering that they aren’t very active pokémon, you won’t need a lot of space.
In fact, slowpokes only have one real habitat need: water. Wild slowpokes live on the shores of bodies of water, using their tails to fish for prey (Gold, Ruby/Sapphire). While they are skilled fishers (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum), they often forget what they’re doing (Ruby/Sapphire) and won’t register that they’ve caught something quickly, sometimes not noticing for a whole day (Gold). Slowpokes aren’t all that bright (Sword), to put it nicely, so a pet slowpoke might not notice if the water you provide them with is something as small as a kiddie pool. It isn’t clear, however, if slowpokes will eat food that they don’t catch this way. I’d wager though, that like a lot of predators, they’d get used to it pretty quickly. If you’d like to release some live prey into your slowpoke’s pond, I’m sure they’d like that….maybe? They might not notice.
It should be clear by now that if you’re looking for an active, energetic pet, a slowpoke is absolutely not for you. They’re often content to do nothing but sit around all day, “without worrying about the time” (Yellow). They have a super slow reaction time, not even registering pain for over five seconds (Red/Blue), which may make playing with them a little boring. You probably won’t receive a lot of obvious affection from them, but that’s not what everyone is looking for in a pet!
Slowpokes can use some moves that can pack a punch, like Psychic, Surf, or Zen Headbutt, but I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Getting attacked by a slowpoke is pretty unlikely, especially if they see you as a source of food and comfort. Slowpokes are often picked on by other pokémon due to the sweet sap contained in their tails, which they use for fishing (Silver, Crystal). As evidence that these pokémon are slow to jump into a fight, their tails can painlessly detach to avoid trouble and be regrown like a real-world lizard’s (Sun). If someone picks on a slowpoke, trying to eat their tail, they would rather lose and regrow it than fight. Slowpokes aren’t very much of a threat.
If you are interested in a pet with excellent ease-of-care and a chill, lazy disposition, a slowpoke will be just right for you! I know I could hardly say no to those charming, dopey faces!

⚠️ lizard nail injury
slight injury but he will be okay, dandy seems to have lost a nail. I found a gap in his tank between the wood and the metal corner pieces and I think he must've got it stuck because I found a slight amount of blood and his nail laying there in the corner where he's been scrabbling a lot lately.
I'm going to dip it in betadine for at least a few days and keep a close eye on it but it doesn't seem infected. I have put tape on all the areas with any sort of gap so he shouldn't be able to do this again. honestly I don't so much recommend zen habitats tanks anymore, even though I loved them in the beginning I've ended up having a lot of issues and with all 3 of the ones I have...
I'm unsure yet what will become of what's left of his nail there but I'll keep a close eye on it and if it starts to look worse I'll get him to the vet

Fallout 4 Companions reactions to Sole taking them to a zoo?
I had to Google "what stuff can you do in zoos" because I've never been to one lol. this is based on the San Diego zoo
Companions at the Zoo
Cait; Goes with X6 and Nick. Huffs with X6 like a pair of moody teenagers. She doesn't enjoy...kid spaces, for lack of a better word, and to Cait, a zoo is a kid space. Very tense for most of it, especially if its crowded. She's gonna enjoy the food than anything else. If there's an Auntie Anne's, that's gonna be her favorite part. The only animals she's likely to take much interest in are the big cats. Eventually, the beauty of the botanical gardens melts her guard down and she has more fun, thinks the aviaries were cool.
Codsworth; Calmly and quietly picking up after litterers, though he makes a note of their appearance to report them. Especially if they litter into the exhibits/habitats. Otherwise, spends a good amount of time at the penguins and capybaras. For activities, goes to presentations and expert talks, especially the ones with demonstrations. Takes so many photos, if permitted. Shoves sweets at Danse to distract him from people littering. Terrified that someone is going to start a fight over it.
Curie; Goes with MacCready and Piper. Any and all garden tours get her attention, loves them all. Will likely befriend the zookeepers and will be mistaken for one by other guests, due to her own wealth of knowledge on animals and plants. Can be found kneeling and explaining things to children wherever she goes. Mac and Piper's kids never have a questioned that isn't answered. Definitely spends some time in the gift shops, gets a bunch of stuff for the others. Her favorite animal...she loves them all, but red pandas are just...so cute...
Danse; if this man is not in a combat zone, he's uncomfortable. This, though...it interests him enough to kind of crack that shell. Attends talks/presentations with Codsworth and Preston. He's taking it as an opportunity to learn, rather than just a fun day out. If someone litters, he's saying something. His sense of justice and morality outweighs his introversion. Codsy and Preston work out a system to keep this from happening, as it's deeply embarrassing for the both of them. Has a soft spot for the servals. Would love the hands-on activities where you can pet the animals.
Deacon; First stop is the gift shop, gets every kind of zoo-branded clothing, redresses in the bathroom. Emerges clad in merchandise propaganda. Redresses multiple times through the day. Will spend his day causing varying degrees of chaos. Does shit like standing by tiger exhibits with his hand low and open, then looks down at it, and gasps, "Annie? Annie, where- ANNIE!" and takes off running. Most likely to get kicked out. Honestly, deserved. Enjoys the bird exhibits, especially the vultures. Weird looking things. Can be identified by the comically large slurpee in his hand.
Gage; Reptile and creepy-crawly exhibits, obviously. Could spend all day just watching the iguanas and komodo dragons. He runs the risk of your average creepy-crawly fan—a rowdy little boy with no filter—asking about the eye patch, so he gets out of there when he notices that he's getting looks and whispered about. Instead, gets most of his entertainment people-watching as he follows Deacon around, curious to see what shit he gets up to. Updates Nick on if he got arrested yet or not. Enjoys himself, likes wandering and sight-seeing, but if asked, will only recount the shit Deacon did.
Hancock; Will stay at the aquarium for a bit and zone out. Watching fish is very zen, mesmerizing. Wanders off to do his own thing. Also would dig the botanical garden tours. Probably has the most normal experience, just wandering around looking at stuff, no real thoughts or information being processed. Likes the sealife exhibits more then the others, admires seals for doing nothing but being fat, sunbathing, and screaming. That's the dream, right there. Goes around sampling from food stands, tries a bit of everything.
MacCready; Duncan's coming, no exception. They tag along with Piper. MacCready is most likely to eat too much and get sick. When he isn't eating ice cream or throwing up, carries Duncan on his shoulders and pointing out the hiding animals. His favorite would be the aerial tours, but enjoyed taking the kids to the playgrounds too. He and Duncan also liked the Down Under exhibit in general, really into the kookaburras. Indulges in the gift shop, gets bashful when Curie insists she pay.
Nick; Trying to enjoy himself, but knows that he's inevitably going to have to bail Deacon out of a cop car. Every time his phone beeps, takes a deep sigh. Keeps Cait and X6 with him just to make sure they behave, them being the problem children. At least Deacon isn't, like, skittish. Prefers the gardens and nature exhibits to the animals, falls in love with the African jungle aviary. Periodically grabs Cait and X6 something to eat, knows that they're more food-motivated then fun-motivated. Aware that they're actually having a good time, but...well, both of them would rather die and admit to simple joy. Could be worse—could be stuck keeping Danse from going mall-cop on everyone.
Piper; Brings Nat, of course. Curies buys them all cat ear headbands and Piper seriously considers adding it to her normal wardrobe. Nat was interested exclusively in the rainforest, and that ended up being Piper's favorite part as well. So many pretty flowers! Also loved the Asian rainforest. Takes a lot of pictures and selfies with Nat. Makes a game for herself of sneaking pictures of the others when they run into each other. Plays "Where's Deacon" and has more fun doing that than anything else.
Preston; Also goes behind and picks up litter, except unlike Danse, won't say anything. Keeps Danse from causing a scene, pulls him away, picks up garbage while Codsworth distracts him. Aside from that, Preston is all about those goats, deer, et cetera. If it's got hooves, he's into it. Really into klipspringers. Attends specialist talks with Codsworth, prefers the more museum-like parts of the zoo. Collects pamphlets. Probably asked to take pictures by other guests, he has a very trustworthy aura. Puts way too much effort into taking good ones.
X6-88; Didn't want to come, was forced to. Boredly follows Nick, grumbles with Cait about how they're too old for this and it's stupid. Secretly ends up enjoying himself but God knows he wouldn't admit it. Spends the whole time snippy. Finds the tiger trail, lagoons, and the Hawaiian gardens genuinely beautiful and soothing. Really liked the turtles. Eats more sugar than MacCready and survives...until much later, when he throws up for, like, ten minutes back home. Curie buys him a panther plushie and puts little/kid-sized sunglasses on it. He adores it far more than he's comfortable with.

Hey ranger! I have spent my entire life in Paldea region and as a traveller I have decided to start my journey from my actual ancestral regions; Unova and Kalos. And I would love to know about your experiences in Unova and Kalos. Especially if you have any incidents with the fire type pokemons of those regions!
Thank you!
Well, congrats on your journey and heading out to your ancestral land.
I've been able to visit where my mom came from in Johto, but we still don't know much about my dad's past, but Sinnoh has been my home my entire life.
A lot of people want to learn about Kalos lately, and I definitely have had some experiences in Unova.
Let me start in Kalos:
It's a beautiful region with a rich and deep history. I've been there a couple of times, and I'm always amazed at how refreshed the place feels and how content the people seem to be (unless it's the fashion world, then it's chaos)
I've helped the local rangers out there a couple of times, once protecting the Sundial out there from vandals and thieves who wanted to sell pieces of it.
I'm also always amazed at how they advertise their regal culture, a lot of people can become "honorary sir or maams" so easily, so if you want to experience the deeper culture I'd really do research for the authentic experience.
Kalos doesn't have too many serious fire types but if you're traveling in the hills and mountains you should watch out for Pyroar, especially the females, as they are super protective and the superior hunters compared to the males.
Also, you should watch the sky for Talonflame. They can be territorial, and they will dive bomb people who get too close to their nests.
Other than that, Kalos is a really beautiful place.
As for Unova:
It's a very loud and busy place, almost the polar opposite of Kalos as it has so many big cities and towns with so many people.
That's not to say that Unova doesn't have its culture, but you'll definitely want to do some research to experience the true culture of Unova and how it was built up on the shoulders and backs of some serious hard work.
Unovan people may be a bit assertive and in your face, but they are resilient and go above and beyond when protecting something they care about.
I've been there several times to help the rangers and for habitat restoration projects. We managed to help the, at the time, dwindling Tympole population problem.
Unova is also unfortunately a hub for people doing smuggling and illegal activity due to how many people come and go, so we usually end up intercepting criminal activity there or en route to there.
Besides that, the culture and food are something else that you gotta try, and about the fire types, the only fire type you NEED to check out are the Darmanatan and their impressive Zen Mode meditation meetings in the desert, they aren't too aggressive if you don't surprise them, in fact they are pretty helpful to people stuck in the sandstorm.
All in all, you have quite the journey ahead of you, and I'm sure you will have a great time.
I hope to hear more about it someday!

where would one get a 4x4x2 tank?
I recommend checking out a local reptile expo to look for a local hobbyist who makes them! They're often much cheaper to buy from someone who makes them as a hobby, and you'll both be supporting a local hobbyist and getting a great product. Ask around at a reptile expo!
If you can't or don't want to do that, online sellers are another great bet! Animal Plastics makes cheap enclosures at a wonderful price (just be aware their wait times are a little long, you'll be waiting about six months), Kages enclosures are a bit pricier but wonderful quality, and Zen Habitats makes wooden enclosures that are really great for lizards especially.

Starting off simple with this one! I’m currently combing through the inbox to see what I’ll keep and what I’ll answer so if you sent an ask over a year ago and it suddenly shows up? Don’t be surprised!
~🐾Mod Elly
On a rare day where the RFA had matching free-time, you suggest you all head to an aquarium you haven’t been too in the area! You make sure to pay close attention to who likes what while you’re there.
Yoosung and Saeran are immediately drawn to the touch tanks! While Yoosung is a little self conscious about being so excited about the “children's area” Saeran has no such qualms. He listens excitedly to the curator as they talk about the seastars, seacucumbers, and other small tidepool oddities. Yoosung’s favorites are all the Turtles, including the diamond back terrapin turtle in the touch tank that he gets to pet and love on a bit, while Saeran falls in love with the Manta Rays and Bamboo Sharks!
Zen is drawn towards a different shark- the aquariums Bullshark! He thinks that its elegant and very simply beautiful, which he appreciates! And while they’re not here, he’s always been a fan of big yet elegant predators like Orca’s or Leopard Seals!
Jaehee and Jumin decide to visit the mammal exhibit, where Jae goes straight towards the otters, which are her absolute favorite! She loves watching them eat and sunbath and just have a good, relaxing time. Jumin, on the other hand, prefers the penguins. He likes how elegant they look. Once he’s done, he goes down to find the others (and avoid Jaehee cooing over the otters) and finds himself enraptured by the ribbon eels.
V, despite saying he couldn’t possibly pick a favorite, is obviously drawn towards the bright (and poisonous) tropical fish and their coral habitats. He loves just watching them in a place that is close to possible to their natural habitat. He spends a while trying to take some good photographs without the glare of the glass, but finds his real muse in the aquariums only Napoleon Fish, a gentle and colorful giant.
While Saeyoung pretends that his favorite creature is the starfish of course~ he’s not really all that interested in the exhibits themselves and is just glad to be out and about with the people he loves. He spends the afternoon googling recipies for food that can be made from each of the animals the others like best, though he lays off once Zen threatens to beat him senseless for “hunting a beautiful hunter”!
Although they don’t tag along, Vanderwood’s favorite is the leopard shark while Rika prefers the moon jellyfish, in their swirling tank, and the also non-present sea-angel for it’s delicate and gentle looks.
Everyone has a great time!

Here are the Sinnoh Elite Four too!
Tumblr media
Aaron:
There's not a whole lot to Aaron, design-speaking or otherwise. I'm pretty sure he's implied to be a bug catcher, so I tried to amplify that in his design. In the original redesign, I gave him these sharp, intense eyes, but I've recently found a love for the more innocent, boyish take on his personality I've seen, so I softened up his gaze. (Btw the contraption on his back is a mini bug habitat).
I think Aaron would definitely be the youngest and most inexperienced of the four. He still has a lot to learn and is quite naive, but his passion for Bug Pokémon and battling are very real.
Tumblr media
Bertha:
Bertha's design has grown on me over time, but I still feel like she's missing something to indicate her type specialty. I decided to make her the League's groundskeeper. I completely revamped her outfit and gave her a kimono and a rake to signify her passion for gardening. She'd probably have an entire zen garden just in her room.
Bertha is definitely still the friendly old lady type, but she has a wiseness to her that makes having a conversation with her that much more enriching. She's probably been working at the League for a very long time, so she knows the place inside out. I think she'd also be Roark's grandmother, as the two have somewhat similar hairstyles and type specialties.
Tumblr media
Flint:
My favourite Sinnoh character without question. Most of the thought process behind designing him is literally just "how can I make him even better?" I tried to accentuate the cool factor and make him all around more flashy and exciting to look at.
This Flint is very, very proud. A loud and egotistical party boy with a LOT of fans. And he's well aware of it. Also a part-time shitty boyfriend to Volkner, who eventually blows up at him for being exactly that, before they kiss and make up. HATES to lose and hates anybody that makes him lose. A massive sore loser when it comes to sportsmanship. Volkner's probably the only member of the entire League that tolerates him lmao.
Tumblr media
Lucian:
I like Lucian but his original design bores me a little. I tried my hand at making his suit and hairstyle fancier, and I think it worked. Also tried to add more colours to the design to make him better stand out.
A MASSIVE bookworm. I think it would make more sense for Lucian to be the lore nerd over Cynthia, because his whole thing is reading. The League probably has its own private library entirely at his request. Though he looks intimidating, I imagine he's really just a massive introvert with slight social anxiety.
(His Key Stone is embedded in a ring on his right index finger).

My sister also has a Zen Habitats enclosure for her bearded dragon (Nugget), can confirm the enclosure+base combo looks really good and sturdy, and Nugget seems happy and healthy. I can also confirm that the bottom of the acrylic is a bit scuffed up but Nugget likes to rub up against it to demand more roaches. Worst case you can usually get acrylic at a hardware store, cut it yourself with a sharp knife and hard edge, and re-use the door handles.
I am so glad to hear all these personal reviews! So thank you!!
I really like the look of them but also I like that you can get the hood or whatever you want to call it to put on top to hide the heat lamp in. I’m ngl I feel like the price for the hood is kind of high but it would be nice to keep my cats from getting up there and fucking with the lamps. Where Stanley’s tank is right now is too high for anyone to reach so I don’t have to worry abt any little dummies fucking with his lamp
