It can burn you down and you can stay there and let it consume you OR you can let the fire purify and refine you, like gold, and you can rise up, stronger, from what the fire tried to do to you. In life, petty people, mean people, cruel people, manipulative people will insult you, hurt you, try to defeat you, tear you down, make you question your worth and value, betray you, manipulate you, injure you and set you aflame just to stand around and watch you burn, for their own perverse entertainment. True story. And here's the thing: drama is TIRING. It's completely exhausting and it drains the energy from you and starts to change your attitude and mindset in a negative way. Who has time for that kind of change? Believe me, as a single parent I have more than enough going on in my life and don't need to add any drama into the mix. This is one of the best lessons I've learned over the past several years. So when others invite you to participate in their negativity, choose to walk away from the invitation to drama.
