A Polyglot Short: Kelley Finds Out
Tumblr media
Summary: What the title says.
A/N: Remember like a month ago when I made a poll asking whether I should be nice and let Kelley find out who R's girlfriend is? This is that fic.
It’s been roughly 2 days since your late-night phone call with Kelley.
Currently, you’re puttering around your kitchen trying to put together something to eat for breakfast when your phone rings with a Facetime call.
Not bothering to check the caller ID, you answer and begin speaking, having already put the phone down and turned back to the stove.
“Escucha, si vas a venir a desayunar tienes que dejar de llamar para que pueda terminar de cocinar.”
There’s a pause that’s longer than it usually is when you snap at your Barça teammates and you don’t hear anyone laughing in the background, so you turn back around to the phone only to see Kelley staring at you shocked.
“Okay, so you’re not coming over for breakfast,” you say after a moment, “How are you doing Kells?”
“Uh, good.”
“Cool, are you calling for any particular reason? I’m kind of in the middle of something here.”
“Do I need a reason to call you,” she asks back.
“Yes,” you say, moving back to the stove, bringing the phone with you.
You hear nothing as Kelley presumably continues staring at you while you cook.
“So who are you making breakfast for? Your girlfriend?”
And there’s the reason.
Deciding to finally give in, you answer her.
“If she wakes up in time then yea,” you respond, pulling the pan off the stove, “If not then just me, Patri, and Pina.” “So you live with your girlfriend then? She’s one of your teammates?”
“No, and no. She’s just visiting and she leaves tomorrow.”
“You have barely a full day to be alone with her and instead you’re having breakfast with your friends,” Kelley says questioningly, “You’re an idiot.”
“Your opinion is unasked for but noted anyway,” you tell her, “Also there’s no way I could stop Patri and Pina from coming over. I moved in 3 and a half years ago and they’ve been harassing me daily ever since.”
Your sentence is punctuated by the sound of pounding at your door.
“Speak of the devil, I’ll be right back,” you say, already walking away.
Walking the short distance to the door, you’re unsurprised when the pounding only gets louder and more aggressive.
Yanking it open, you’re even more unsurprised to see your two neighbors and teammates on the other side, mid-knock with mischievous looks on their faces.
“Bon dia,” Patri and Pina say in unison, dropping their hands.
“You’re the worst,” you tell them in Spanish, only getting big grins in return.
Both of them look like they’re attempting to hold back laughter.
“Whatever,” you say, stepping aside to let them in, “Just be quiet, I think Ona is still..”
You’re cut off by a loud but distorted scream coming from the kitchen.
Rolling your eyes, you shut the door and motion for your two friends to follow you.
Upon reaching the kitchen, you’re only slightly surprised to see Ona holding your phone, talking to Kelley.
Well, talking is one way to put it.
Kelley is speaking at a million miles a minute and asking a thousand questions while Ona attempts to stutter out answers.
Rolling your eyes as you cross the room, you take the phone from your girlfriend, pausing only to press a kiss to the side of her head.
“You guys can go ahead and eat,” you tell Ona in Spanish before focusing on Kelley as you walk out of the room. “Are you done now,” you ask your American teammate.
She takes a moment before responding.
“Yeah, I’m good.”
“Are you happy with the information you now have?”
“I thought it might have been either Sophia or Sanchez or both at one point so this is better than I expected.”
“Thanks?”
“No problem, Y/N/N,” she says, “Talk to you later kid.”
“Later.”
Hanging up, you return to the kitchen where everyone is doing their best to look like they weren’t attempting to eavesdrop on the call.
Halfway across the world, Kelley is stuck staring blankly at her phone for a few moments.
Snapping out of it, she immediately dials Christen’s number.
Her college teammate answers quickly and Kelley doesn’t bother wasting time with greetings.
“Did you know Baby Genius was dating #2 from Spain,” she asks.
“Hello to you too Kelley,” Christen says.
“Hi Pressy. Did you know that Y/N/N is dating #2 from Spain?”
Kelley can hear laughter in the background, presumably from Tobin, before Christen answers.
“Yes, Kell, I knew,” she says. “They’ve been together for a while. I think they started dating before Ona moved to play for United.”
“Wait, you know her?!”
A deep sigh from Christen.
“Tobin and I played with her at United. They’re good for each other, I promise.”
“Okay,” Kelley agrees, if somewhat reluctantly.
“Good and promise me you’ll leave them alone.”
“What?”
“Promise me, Kelley.”
“Fine, fine, I won’t bother the happy couple.” The reluctance in her voice is even more obvious now.
“Thank you, I’ll talk to you later, Kell.”
“Later.”
This time after hanging up the phone, Kelley wastes no time before texting Sonnett already plotting ways to mess with Y/N at the next camp.

Round One Wrap-Up And Round Two Announcement
Wow, what a Round One it’s been!
We’ve compiled all the pairings and results for you again so you can check which of your favourites went through, and whom we’ve already lost along the way (we’re as sad about some of these as you).
Michael Allred vs Jon J Muth (78%)
Michael Zulli (89.2%) vs Bill Sienkiewicz
Teddy Kristiansen vs Yoshitaka Amano (78.4%)
Shawn McManus (90.7%) vs Kelley Jones
Alec Stevens vs Miguelanxo Prado (63.2%)
Chris Bachalo vs Marc Hempel (56.4%)
Stan Woch vs JH Williams III (81.5%)
Duncan Eagleson vs Jill Thompson (80%)
Matt Wagner vs Colleen Doran (69.7%)
Charles Vess vs P. Craig Russell (83.1%)
Sam Kieth vs Mike Dringenberg (91.3%)
John Watkiss (78.1%) vs Bryan Talbot
Each link contains the OP and the daily roundups—please make sure to check them out because many people have shared amazing art and thoughts on why their favourite designed the Dream they preferred.
On Monday, we will be back with Round Two. Here comes the next bracket (you can still find the round one overview here):
Tumblr media
Yes, we’re already agonising, too—it’s only going to get trickier from here.
And to already prepare yourselves:
In round two, we will ask you for the Dream/Morpheus/Daniel panel(s) by your favourite artist that show your least favourite depiction.
Sounds like a contradiction in terms? Not really. This time, we are looking for consistency in design. Consequently, we want to see all those panels that make you go:
“They didn’t get him quite right here,” or, “That’s downright ugly to me.”
That might be easier to do for the artist you don’t support, but we want you to do it for your favourite.
Really dig deep, and no cheating—sometimes it’s good to examine one’s bias 😉
We will obviously remind you on each individual post, but this gives you a bit of time to prepare. If you have any questions, hit us up.
We’ll see you all again on Monday 6pm/London with our first match-up, and it’s going to be a tough one…

Name: Blair Moreno Faceclaim: Nathalie Kelley Gender & Pronouns: Cisfemale & She/Her Age: 36 Birthday: March 17, 1987 Occupation: Owner & Veterinarian @ Pawsitive Heart Vet Neighborhood: Orchid Park
parent death tw emotional abuse tw
most little girls dream of one day being a princess and blair moreno got as close as a girl in a small town could. born to abel and danna moreno, blair was everything a little southern belle should be. the first child and first grandchild meant that she was spoiled beyond words. it would be another five years before her first sister came into the world and another five before her youngest sister. she was their pride and joy, though, both of them doting on her while she was young and giving her whatever it was she asked for. they had the money, of course, so it wasn’t as if it was an imposition. her father, a well known attorney in town, and her mother, the ex-pageant queen turned housewife, wanted nothing but the most exquisite life for their daughter. they would stop at nothing to provide that for her.
as blair grew older, her mother’s dreams for her to be the same beauty queen she was grew larger. if you’ve ever heard the phrase ‘living vicariously through your child’, that would sum up what the relationship between blair and danna moreno looked like to anyone in the outside world. as soon as blair was old enough to walk, her mother put her in pageants followed by dance and cheerleading to build her skills. blair was never fond of pageants, even as a child, but she realized very quickly it was a way that she could spend time with her mother and have her attention all to herself. for her, that was all that mattered. even if it meant plastering on a smile with blushed up cheeks and a frilly dress, she would do it.
but soon she became a teenager and she no longer wanted her life to revolve around pageants. every time there was a new one there were arguments between her and her mother. she didn’t smile big enough, she didn’t dance hard enough, she said the wrong thing during an interview. it was an ongoing cycle of never being good enough or, to put it simply, never being as good as her mother. it was hard for her to swallow down the hateful words that her mother threw at her almost daily, often spending nights alone in her room wondering what she could do to be better, to prove herself to her mother. as time passed, their relationship became more strained to the point that even being in a pageant couldn’t fix it. thus, at age sixteen, she gave them up. if her mother wasn’t going to love her as a pageant girl than why even bother.
with more than enough free time, blair found herself throwing her everything into school. she didn’t want to be just another rich kid who skated by on her riches, married, and stayed at home. to put it simply, she didn’t want to be her mother.
during her sophomore hear of high school, after quitting pageantry and focusing on cheerleading and track, she met a boy. isn’t that how the story always goes? she was a cheerleader and him a football player, so very cliche, but she was happy.
but, unfortunately, she had somehow managed to fall for the one guy her parents would never approve of. a guy who came from the other side of the world, well, their world that they had kept her sheltered in all those years. but what did that matter to a young girl in love? blair was as in love as you could be. but things can never be that simple, can they? while blair swore up and down that she was going to marry this guy, it seemed that he had other ideas. all the way up until the moment she left for college, this guy had her whole heart. which is why, when he dumped her on their graduation night, her whole world was flipped upside down. instead of the bright, cheery young girl she turned into a spiraling mess of emotions. that summer, rather than spending it with her friends and preparing for the journey that was college, she stayed at home in her room. everything just felt wrong. she said goodbye to those that mattered before she left for the university of alabama but that was very few. she just couldn’t bring herself to face anyone and let them see how broken she was.
with a broken heart and determination to put some distance between her and covington, blair worked harder in school than she ever had in her life to make sure she never had a reason to return. if having her heartbroken wasn’t bad enough, she couldn’t imagine what it would be like to have to come back a failure. she would prove her mother wrong and show everyone that she was more than just the ‘rich pageant girl’. when she was accepted into the veterinary school at the university of alabama that was the first time she was truly proud of herself. finally she was free of the burden of never being good enough. well, almost that is.
as for covington and her family, she really only came back for holidays as the next several years passed.
she graduated with honors and went as far as working at a vet clinic in the city of tuescaloosa, al for the past ten years.
as her eleven years anniversary of being gone came looming around the corner, the call she hoped to never get came in. her mother was gone. while their relationship had never fully healed, it hurts all the same. but with that being said, her mother’s death has brought her back to a place she had sworn off years ago. she wants to be closer to her family, to rebuild bridges with her father and siblings before it’s too late. if there’s anything she’s realized after her mother passing, you only have so much time with the ones that you love before it’s all yanked away from you.
**she has been back three months and her mother’s funeral has come and gone.

Pairing : Eddie Munson x (they/them) Henderson! reader
Summary : Robin and Nancy attempt to find information to prove her shot in the dark true while Max asks Ms. kelley for any information about Chrissy, getting no help and they hear from Lucas, who’s with the Hawkins’ tigers.
Word count : 1.3k
------------------------------
"Help me get this straight. Eddie's uncle, Wayne, thinks that Victor Creel escaped from Pennhurst Asylum and that he's the one running around Hawkins, committing all these murders?" Robin asked, still confused. "Pretty much." Nancy smiled, opening the door to the library. "But Victor committed the eyeball murders, like way...back in the fifties" Robin said. "Well, fifty-nine." Nancy corrected. "So, that means these murders predate Eleven in the Upside down, by about thirty years? Which makes spooky, Victor Creel like seventy years old." Robin wondered, following behind her. Nancy nodded, sighing and pressing the bell to get some help. "So, he's a grandpa murderer who can turn invisible and lift people into the air." Robin joked, resting her head on her hand. "It doesn't make sense, I know. That's why I said it was a shot in the dark." Nancy reminded, tapping the bell again.
"I know. I just thought that by 'shot in the dark', you were being modest or hiding something super solid up your sleeve that you were gonna wow us with later. But this is really, truly a shot in the dark. Like, we are snipers with blindfolds on who've been spun around fifty times." Robin rambled, Nancy growing impatient and tapping the bell multiple times in a row. "Hi, sorry we're in a bit of a rush." Nancy apologised, the worker coming around the corner to the desk. "Could we get the keys to the basement archives?" Nancy politely asked, the lady nodding as she told them to wait while she grabbed them.
"Did I come off mean or condescending or something?" Robin confronted, feeling slightly uncomfortable with the way Nancy was acting towards her. "No..." Nancy assured, turning back. "Right. Sorry, it's just you seem annoyed. You don't know me very well, I don't really have a filter or a strong grasp of social cues. So, if I say something that upsets you, just know that I know it's a flaw, believe me, my mother reminds me daily." Robin overshared slightly, Nancy not caring. "Got it." She said, silently thanking the lady for coming back. "Right, here we go ladies. Have fun!" she smiled, handing the keys over. Nancy took the keys and nodded. "Yep, we'll try." she sighed, walking over as the lady sent Robin an apologetic smile to which she returned, shrugging and holding her hands in the air.
------------------------------
Max rocked her heels, pressing the doorbell three times. It finally opened, revealing Ms. Kelley. "Max. Hi." she said confused, looking at the red head. "Hi. I'm so sorry to bother you over break but...do you have a minute to talk?" she asked, fiddling with her hands. Ms Kelley moved to the side and gestured for Max to step in. "Um, yeah, of course. Of course. "Okay, she's in." Y/n called, watching Max give a thumbs up behind her back and walking in. "I'm missing collarbones, not eyes." Dustin joked, making Y/n laugh and Steve roll his eyes. Silence swept over the car. "So, we gonna talk about...it?" Dustin mentioned, y/n turning back to look at him and grin.
"Huh? Sorry, talk about what?" Steve questioned, snapping out of his zoning out. "Your temporary insanity earlier today, when you basically threw yourself at Nance?" Y/n commented, Steve scoffing. "First of all, that's not what happened!" he defended as y/n turned around to look at Dustin who agreed. "Pretty sure that's what happened. It was pretty public, there were like a lot of witnesses." Dustin said, y/n holding in their laugh as they listened to the two, picking at their nails.
"Are you implying I still have a thing for Nance?" Steve groaned, looking at the pair. "No, I'm not implying, I'm stating. And, as it relates to your steadfast refusal to date Robin, it's pretty much the only logical explanation." Dustin confessed, Y/n looking at Steve and nodding to Dustin, silently saying he's got a point. "That's not the only one. And as for Nance, I was just trying to protect a friend. A friend, Hendersons, okay?" Steve cleared up, neither of them buying it. "Don't wanna find her in the morning, with her eyes sucked out of the front of her skull by this Vecna creep." Steve defended, Y/n and Dustin looking at each other before bursting into laughter. "You're bright red in the face right now." they both laughed, Steve flipping them off.
"No, I'm not, I don't wanna talk about it. I'll punch you so hard your teeth will fall back out and as for you y/n, I'll expose you to Dustin and tell him what I saw." he retaliated, shutting both of them up quickly. "Woah, too far." Y/n huffed, turning away from him, Steve frowned and sighed. "Not cool, sorry." he apologised, y/n nodding. "Not cool, it's okay." they accepting, Steve fist bumping them and Dustin.
"It's just, with everything that's happening, with all the murders. It's...it's making everything worse again." Max half lied, Ms, Kelley nodding at her and listening. "You've experienced trauma, Max. And when you keep your feelings, your pain, bottled up the way you do, it doesn't take much to trigger them again. So now, when it rains, it storms" Ms Kelley admitted, Max nodding. "Do you think you're ready to talk more about that night?” Ms. Kelley asked, giving Max flashbacks to the events that happened in the mall, witnessing her brother's death. "I live next door to where it happened." Max said out of nowhere, Ms, Kelley not following along. "Sorry?" she asked. "To where Chrissy was murdered. The cops asked me a bunch of questions. Did they talk to you? I mean, I know you were seeing Chrissy." Max asked, hoping for an answer. Ms, Kelley leaned forward.
"Max, you know I can't talk about Chrissy, or any other student." she reminded. "Yeah, but I mean what if there was a serial killer on the loose in my neighbourhood? Did Chrissy mention anything? Anything about who might have done this?" Max tried, Ms Kelley shaking her head. "Max, I'm...I'm sorry, I... I really can't discuss this.  You wouldn't want me talking to any other students about you, right?" she defended, Max biting her tongue. "If I were dead and it would help catch the killer, then yeah. I most definitely would." Max argued, annoyed by her. "Well, let's leave that up to the police, shall we?" Ms. Kelley reasoned, Max giving up. "Yeah. Yeah, you're right. The police totally have this under control. Can I use the bathroom?" Max covered up. "Sure! Up the stairs, to the left. " Ms Kelley told her, Max thanking her before going.
She laid eyes on the keys sat in the bowl in the kitchen, right outside.  She took the office keys and looked at her, making sure she was doing something else before walking out, jogging to the car. "Here she comes, here she comes." Steve repeated, y/n looking up. "What'd she say?" Dustin asked, Max shaking her head. "Nothing, just drive." Max finished, y/n nodding and driving away. "Dustin?" a voice called from his walkie talkie - Lucas. "It's Lucas. Do you copy? Dustin." he carried on. "Lucas? Where the hell have you been?" Dustin grumbled down the walkie talkie. "Just listen. Are you guys looking for Eddie?" he questioned, Dustin scoffing.
Steve took the walkie talkie away, knowing he wouldn't be nice and held it for y/n to talk into. "Yeah, we found him." Y/n responded, nervous for what he was going to say. "You found him?" Lucas mumbled, y/n humming a yes. "A boathouse on Coal Mill Road. Don't worry, he's safe." Y/n assured the younger male. "You guys know he killed Chrissy, right?" Lucas gasped, the whole group rolling their eyes. "That's bullshit. Eddie tried to save Chrissy." Dustin answered, having calmed down a tiny bit. "Then why do all the cops say he did it?" Lucas argued, not knowing what to believe. "Lucas, you're so behind it's ridiculous, okay? Just meet us at school, we'll explain later." Max said. "I... I can't. I think some real bad shit's about to go down." he admitted, Y/n feeling uneasy at his words. "What are you talking about? What bad shit?" Steve asked. "Sinclair." they heard faintly in the background before it went silent.
"That was Jason's voice."

Chapter Six: Off the Record
"Growing up, you didn't know you were adopted, right?" Kelley Michel asked.
"No, I had no idea... But it's not like my dad lied. It never came up. I never thought I might've come from somewhere else," I answered. Kelley nodded and took a breath. "I had a great childhood. I never wanted anything. I never needed anything."
"Did you ever wonder why you didn't have a mother?" Kelley questioned. That question wasn't on the provided list. I looked up at the ceiling and shrugged.
"My dad loved me so much I never thought about anyone else. When you grow up a certain way, you don't question things. It all seems normal. I never thought about why I didn't have a mom. I had a dad that checked all the boxes for everything I needed, so I never would've wondered about a mom," I replied, "And not every kid has a mom growing up for one reason or another. Why would I question that?"
"Are you trying to reconnect with your birth parents, and will we hear anything about that soon?" Kelley asked.
"It was a closed adoption, but I'm going through the court process to get those records unsealed... And I probably won't make it public if I find them. It's terrifying not knowing where you come from or how you ended up where you are. I can only imagine it's tough for them too... It's mortifying being in the public eye sometimes, and I could only imagine how that would be for whoever my biological parents are," I answered. I hated the line of questioning, and I didn't think it could get any worse.
"Shortly after your emancipation, you came out as bisexual. I think the fans want to know if that had anything to do with your public argument with your-."
"My dad loves me for everything that I am. I didn't come out to spite anyone. My dad knew for years. I decided to come out publicly because I wanted to go to pride. I told everyone before they could ask," I replied. I was touchy about that for several reasons. She could tell I was uncomfortable. The questions kept getting worse until I couldn't take it anymore. She asked about abuse allegations and brought up public meltdowns I had as a small kid. Her questions weren't fair. They felt like personal attacks.
"I wanted to ask a question that's been off-limits for years. Several years ago, something happened between you and a co-star on the set-."
"Oh, that question is still off-limits," I replied. There was an altercation between my dad and a big star on the set because he hit me. We were all tired that day, and I missed my mark, and he hauled off and slapped me. I didn't want to talk about it after it happened. We finished filming the movie, and we never spoke of it again. It was one of my scariest experiences, and I didn't feel an interview for a magazine was the time and place. She kept pushing, and I walked out. Rex tried to stop me, but I was so pissed off that I was afraid of what I'd do if I stayed. I walked until my phone rang. It was a reporter from Metropolis.
"Hey, I just walked out of an interview, so I'm not-."
"This is Lois Lane from the Daily Planet... I wasn't calling to ask for an interview," she replied.
"Oh... Hi, Lois," I replied. Lois Lane and her husband were the only two reporters I really liked.
"How are you, Lucky?" Lois asked. I didn't answer. "Lucky? I called to check on you."
"Oh, I'm fine. Actually, I'll be back in Metropolis this winter for personal reasons if you want to do lunch," I suggested, "But if you wanna talk now... Off the record, that's cool too."
"Off the record is fine... How's school?" Lois asked.
"I love being around all the kids... I still don't know where I fit in, though," I answered, "Meeting people is hard."
"But you're a brilliant kid... Kids will warm up to you once they get to know you," Lois reassured. It felt good to finally speak to somebody familiar. "Say, are you at home?"
"No, I'm in Los Angeles... And I'm desperately trying to avoid my publicist. He's furious with me," I replied as I crossed the street. "Why?"
"Are you gonna be there tomorrow morning?" Lois asked.
"Sure, I'm not leaving until late tomorrow night... Where's Clark?" I asked. Usually, Clark would've dropped in on the call to say hello or something, but things were quiet on her end. Clark hadn't said a word.
"Would you believe me if I said he beat me to L.A.?" Lois replied. "He's covering the Walk of Stars story today, but I'm meeting him tomorrow morning. We've both been worried about how you've been. You've gone almost completely off the grid."
"Oh, well... I've been alright. I've been busy moving across the country and getting ready for school, but once I get used to everything, I'll jump right back into doing interviews," I answered. To be honest, I didn't miss any of it. I dreaded getting back into the pageantry of it all. If I could make music and act without having to be poked and prodded and ogled at, I think I'd be alright. I was so in my head that I forgot I was on the phone.
"Lucky?" Lois called. "Are you still there?"
"Oh yeah, sorry. Um, do you guys wanna do lunch?" I asked.
"Sure, but-. Lucky, listen... Are you actually okay?" Lois questioned.
Maybe I wasn't. I started feeling kind of down after that, and I couldn't figure out why. "Yeah, I um-. Today's been weird, but I'll be fine," I answered, "I'm gonna try to figure out brunch because I haven't eaten yet, but I'll text you my info and where to meet me."
"Okay, Lucky. It was nice talking to you," Lois replied.
"You too, Lois. Thanks for calling," I replied before hanging up. I walked to a record store to cheer myself up. I snagged a few tees and a couple of records for my collection, but it didn't help much. Every time I stopped to think, I felt worse and worse. I wasn't in a position to walk out of any interviews, let alone one that important. I screwed up bad.

Creative Briefs in Marketing
October 20, 2023
Creativity can be stimulated in many different ways. In my previous blog post, I talked about some of the ways that creativity can become more a part of people’s daily habits and how it can add value to various parts of people’s life when developed further. Business is just one more area where creativity is a wonderful asset and motivator for a project, at times exemplified by the wide range of success you see in new innovations. A thorough creative brief, which can take any form as long as it which gets to the heart of an issue consumers face, can greatly improve the outcome of a marketing venture as well as an organization’s understanding of that problem.
Basset and Partners, a brand design and marketing company established in 2003, created a short documentary about creative briefs. Called “Briefly,” it discussed specific and sometimes subtle qualities that distinguished an effective and powerful creative brief from one that was simply a piece of paper to be archived. The company worked with Samsung in overcoming iPhone sales and promoting the cutting-edge technology of the product, and helped make design choices for the Cosmopolitan building in Las Vegas. One interviewee said it’s better to be brief and have room to expand, and another talked about how some companies make them too wordy and informational. Briefs should inspire teams to be excited about the project, to engage clients in relationships to understand true goals of project and build trust. A good example of this is brought up in the documentary, when Nike was involved in the Olympics during the 90’s and had an ad campaign centered around the slogan “Sports are war without the killing,” signifying how the target market (athletes) took what they did extremely seriously.
One reason some creatives in the business world may struggle with making out of the box decisions like the ones made at Basset and Partners may be that they are facing critics who are scared of being judged for making an improper choice, even when taking the safer route could sometimes be a worse option. David Kelley, who founded his own design firm, was a Ted Talk speaker who gave a speech on overcoming creative critics, talked about the dangers of labeling some people as creative and some people as not. He proposed the idea that all people have innate creative capabilities which could be developed through attaining self efficacy through "guided mastery". Kelley discussed a theoretical patient with a snake phobia who was able to overcome it by slowly becoming more comfortable with it, illustrating how people may also overcome their fear of creativity.
In the world of business, all departments should become comfortable with creative processes and integrate them more often into problem solving scenarios. Creative briefs are no longer a sheet you fill in and forget about. The digital age, fully saturated with advertising and content, demands strategic and research driven innovations to catch the attention of consumers; these types of campaigns start with innovative creative briefs. Knowing which teams or groups of people to involve in your research and help gather insights, where to look for information that is credible and applicable, and cutting through clutter is essential nowadays to be able to meet deadlines and provide efficient service at a large scale.
Coca-Cola is an international company with dozens of well-known products under their control and bringing in billions of dollars of revenue each year and creating campaigns that can affect everyday consumers. To maintain that status, they have to develop carefully crafted marketing strategies which include only information about what is most important for consumers to know, making a creative brief essential. One strategy they have chosen to employ is to partner with the international non-profit organization, Design and Art Direction or D&AD, who gives a few different prestigious awards each year to companies and individuals that demonstrate advertising innovation. Coca-Cola will be participating in the “New Blood Award” competition in which creative briefs for several large companies are released and new graduates or current students in marketing, design, and related fields are encouraged to come up with ideas to solve the problems stated in provided briefs.
Tumblr media
Creative brief coca cola, provided for the “New Blood Awards” sponsored by D&AD.
In Coca-Cola’s case, their problem is finding a way to increase engagement from Gen Z markets. They did a good job getting straight to the point of their weaknesses, opportunities, and strengths without wasting space explaining their well-known history. A potential competitor or company who might take on this brief on may struggle with the lack of clear deliverables listed. Aside from a pitch about a campaign, event, or similar strategy, there is no information about specific markets within Gen Z they would like to increase engagement with, or details such as budget and resources available. One could argue that for the sake of the competition they created a brief that included only the most necessary information, and that the contestant will likely do their own research on the brand to be able to determine what would be reasonable for the company to be able to pull off.
Creative briefs will look different to every company, but the main goal is always the same: to gain a better understanding of the target market and the problem. If the intention of the brief is based on a genuine interest the outcome will provide interesting and important results even if they aren’t directly applicable. Simple cash grabs are easy to spot, and individuals with access to social media can call out brands for inauthenticity or “shady” tactics. Others who are burnt out from constant advertising feel more and more frustrated by things which don’t communicate their immediate purpose. It’s important to revive a sense of curiosity about the consumer in companies and individuals working in advertising, so consumers see companies as helpful and informative, instead of just annoying.

Getting Rid of Your Clunker? Get Cash in Albuquerque
Albuquerque, New Mexico, known for its rich culture, stunning landscapes, and thriving community, is a city where automobiles play a significant role in daily life. However, as time passes, many residents find themselves with old, non-functional vehicles that are taking up valuable space in their driveways or garages. If you're one of them, you'll be pleased to know that you can turn your clunker into cash in Albuquerque. The process of selling your old, unwanted car for cash can be straightforward if you follow the right steps and consider important factors. In this comprehensive guide, we'll walk you through the process of getting cash for clunkers albuquerque, from assessing its value to completing a successful transaction.
Tumblr media
Assess the Condition of Your Clunker
The first step in the process of getting cash for your clunker in Albuquerque is to assess its condition thoroughly. Clunkers vary widely in terms of wear and tear, damage, and operability. Here are some key factors to consider when evaluating the condition of your clunker:
Mechanical Condition: Determine whether the car is operational or non-operational. Are there significant mechanical issues that would require costly repairs to make it roadworthy?
Exterior Condition: Inspect the car's exterior for signs of rust, dents, or severe damage. Note any missing parts, such as mirrors, lights, or bumpers.
Interior Condition: Check the interior for damage, including torn upholstery, non-functional electronics, and general wear and tear.
Mileage: Consider the car's mileage, as extremely high mileage can significantly impact its value.
Documentation: Ensure you have the title to the vehicle, as it's a crucial document for selling a car in Albuquerque.
Determine the Value of Your Clunker
Once you've assessed your clunker's condition, it's essential to determine its value. The value of a clunker is influenced by several factors, including its make, model, year, condition, and the current demand for used parts. Here are some methods to estimate the value of your clunker:
Online Research: Start by researching online resources and websites that offer tools to estimate the value of your specific car based on its make, model, year, and condition. Common resources include Kelley Blue Book, Edmunds, and the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA).
Get Multiple Quotes: Contact local junkyards, salvage yards, and auto wreckers in Albuquerque to obtain quotes for your vehicle. Different buyers may offer varying prices, so collecting multiple quotes can help you negotiate the best deal.
Consider the Scrap Value: If your clunker is non-operational or in extremely poor condition, it may be valued primarily for its scrap metal. Research the current scrap metal prices in Albuquerque to estimate its scrap value.
Prepare the Necessary Documents
Before you can sell your clunker for cash in Albuquerque, make sure you have the required documentation in order. The primary document you'll need is the vehicle's title. If you don't have the title or it's lost, you'll need to apply for a duplicate title through the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division (MVD).
Here are the key documents you'll need:
Vehicle Title: Ensure you have a clear and valid title to the vehicle in your name.
Bill of Sale: While not always necessary, a bill of sale can be helpful for documenting the sale of the car. It should include details such as the buyer's and seller's names, addresses, and the sale price.
Choose the Selling Option
In Albuquerque, you have several options for selling your clunker for cash. Depending on your preferences and the condition of your vehicle, you can choose one of the following methods:
Sell to a Junkyard or Salvage Yard: Junkyards and salvage yards are often willing to purchase clunkers for their used parts or scrap metal value. Many also offer free towing services. Contact local yards in Albuquerque to inquire about their interest and offers.
Private Sale: If your clunker is still somewhat operational or has valuable parts, consider selling it privately. List your car on online platforms, local classified ads, or social media. Be transparent about the vehicle's condition to attract genuine buyers.
Cash for Cars Services: Some companies and services specialize in buying clunkers for cash. These services can provide a quick and convenient way to sell your clunker, and some may offer free towing as part of the deal.
Negotiate and Finalize the Sale
Once you've received offers for your clunker, don't be afraid to negotiate the price. Remember that the goal is to get the best possible deal for your vehicle. Be open to bargaining, but also be realistic about the condition of your clunker.
When you and the buyer have agreed on a price, make sure to finalize the sale correctly:
Sign over the title to the buyer and ensure it's properly filled out with the necessary details.
If required, complete a bill of sale.
Receive payment as per the agreed-upon method, whether it's cash, a cashier's check, or another secure method.
Provide any additional documentation or information requested by the buyer.
Properly Dispose of Your Clunker
After selling your clunker, it's essential to ensure that it is properly disposed of according to environmental regulations. The buyer or junkyard should handle the disposal process, scrapping the vehicle in an environmentally responsible manner.
Conclusion
Getting cash for your clunker in Albuquerque is a practical way to free up space and earn some extra money. By following the steps outlined in this guide, you can navigate the process smoothly and get the best possible deal for your clunker. Assess the condition, gather the necessary documents, determine the value, and choose the selling option that suits your needs.
Whether you decide to sell to a junkyard, privately, or through a cash for cars service, conducting the sale transparently and efficiently will ensure a successful transaction. Turn your old, unwanted vehicle into quick cash while decluttering your space in Albuquerque and contributing to responsible vehicle disposal.
