Sungchan's energy is pretty overwhelming for me. I'm not going to lie that I feel a little intimidated. It's like he's trying to scare me away? I'm not scared, but intimidated? Defo. I had to take a break from doing this reading by distracting myself and doing other things.

I also think his intimidating face or cold-looking expression is a mask. He might be a super sensitive guy and uses the least unattractive expression to hide this side of him. He's also SUPER masculine. SUPER DOMINEERING too. His dominant energy was very much felt during the reading.

As the reading progresses, he gets more comfortable and that's when I realised it was okay to do this reading.

Also, him as a boyfriend reminds me of Taylor Swift's song Fearless and in particular the line "But you're just so cool. Run your hands through your hair." I'm pretty sure I've seen it somewhere. A picture or fan video of him running his hand through his hair and he looked hot. That's how I thought of Fearless as the song that matches his vibe as a boyfriend. THE WISHES GIVEN TO KING MAGNIFICO ARE ALL GOOD-INTENTIONED

When reading comments and analysis about Wish, many people assume that some wishes are bad or ill-intentioned. For example someone would say “What if someone’s wish was to kill?”

No, the wishes aren’t like that. This isn’t a post in defense of Asha’s point (though you can easily do so with this), but rather just a clarification for what the wishes given to King Magnifico are. It’s proven in the movie, too.

To start, wishes aren’t just ideas. Killing is an idea. But is it a part of your heart? No. If you were blood-thirsty or something and really wanted to do that, then first- get some help. Second, this is a kids’ movie. Third, Rosas is meant to be a safe haven for those who want to live in such a place. People GO THERE to be safe. If King Magnifico saw that someone really was blood-thirsty, do you really think he’d let them stay there? No.💀 He wouldn’t even look at all the wishes with a loving expression if some of them were actually BAD.

Take the woman’s wish was to fly for example. Talking more about how wishes aren’t just ideas but a part of your heart, it looks like the woman wanted to fly with birds, or just fly in general. Is that really what she wanted from face value? No, I really don’t think so. The flying could be a metaphor for being free, to travel, to experience things… you can interpret it into almost anything! (That’s what Magnifico did which led him to not grant a lot of wishes, but I’ll get into the downside of their given wishes soon). That’s why the woman wasn’t disappointed by the idea of a flying machine. She didn’t want to simply just fly with the birds- she wanted to travel, or experience freedom in the air, or something just as wonderful like those things. I’ll add “Interpretations of Each Wish in Wish” post to my list of other posts I’ve said I’d possibly make.

Oh! And let’s bring up what *Magnifico* said what wishes are. He said that they’re not just ideas, but what else? A part of your heart, but what part?

“They are a part of your heart. The very best part.”

The wishes are all good-intentioned. They mean well and are from the purest, bestest part of a person’s heart. From their soul more to speak. This proves that they aren’t even common wishes either. Like money, for example, people live in Rosas which is a rent-free currency(?)-free kingdom. There is no need for money all that much, so what would be the point in wishing for more money? Go to timestamp 0:20 until 0:30 to prove that the given wishes aren’t just bland.

And some people might say “The movie only shows the good wishes to prove Asha’s point that the people of Rosas are good. There could be bad wishes floating around somewhere.” The people of Rosas aren’t good. No one is just ‘good’. What Asha may of been saying is that the people of Rosas are good-INTENTIONED. A little greedy and ignorant and entitled, admittedly, but they don’t mean any harm. But ‘good-intentioned‘ would just further prove my point that the wishes themselves are good-intentioned.

Besides, if King Magnifico says that the wishes are “everything” and that “they’re the best part of your heart” then we should take his word for it. He has the wishes and knows more about them, so why should we deny that?

Another thing I want to bring up is that just because the wishes are good-intentioned, it doesn’t mean that they can’t be dangerous. A wish could be good-intentioned, but vague- like Sabino’s. A good wish can have consequences almost like a bad wish. It’s more-so a *probability* that a good wish would end up with negative consequences, but a bad wish always ends up with negative consequences.

So my point is that the wishes are all good-intentioned, but some may just be too vague to be considered safe. The people of Rosas don’t seek to cause harm. But they sure are ignorant.

That’s one of the reasons why Magnifico doesn’t grant a lot of wishes. It’s not because some wishes are BAD, it is because some wishes are VAGUE or NOT WELL THOUGHT OUT. Whether or not another reason why he wouldn’t grant a lot of wishes was because he wanted undeniable control and power is up to interpretation. I don’t really care for that bit.

Finally- and this is just a nitpick about the movie- “What about the wish of someone wanting a nanny for their horribly behaved children? Is that really a best part of a person’s heart?”Yeah, that’s a dumb wish. It really downgrades the purpose of the wishes in this case, so I don’t know why Disney would’ve done that. For an easter egg, yeah, but they just underwhelmed their own movie even more with this detail.

Since we've been on the same topic for quite some time, here's a new one:

I've only recently noticed this, but it seems that whenever there's a trans character in fics, they're either pre-op or it's just never mentioned and left up to reader interpretation (both in SFW and NSFW content)

I'm sure it's not always the case, but it seems to be the norm - for transmasc characters anyway, I'm not sure about transfems since I don't read nearly as many fics where that's discussed, but I imagine it's the same there.

I'm just wondering why that is. Maybe it's simply to avoid getting things wrong if the author themself doesn't know absolutely everything about how it all works, or cause a lot of trans headcanons are a bit of a self-insert and they simply write the character as being in a similar stage in their transition as them, I don't know.

It is a bit of a pet peeve, though. I get that a lot of the time, dysphoria and other trans struggles are an important part of the story, but you can depict that with a post-op character too, maybe just in slightly less obvious ways, and there's a lot of other things you could explore with that, too

From characters finally feeling at home in their body, to disappointment about lingering insecurities or dysphoria even after doing going through all that effort and doing everything they were 'supposed to', not to mention how well you could use that to add interest to sex scenes (for example it's their first time since getting surgery and now they get to explore a whole new world of sensations with their love interest, etc etc)

You know, i like the Vast. I really like its general vibes, and every time i think about it, i admire how cool it is. But i've never considered myself Vast-aligned, and for some reason, i don't feel the same connection to it that i feel to other fears i like. And i think i finally know what that reason is: I don't know what it represents in a person.

Let me explain: For example, the Eye is knowledge and paranoia, so i feel connected to it because i love learning new stuff. The Spiral can be interpreted as representing mental illnesses and disorders, and i also simply relate to it because of derealization. The Lonely is self-explanatory. I could go on with that list, but you see where i'm getting at: Most fears represent something that we can relate to, on a deeper level than just liking its aesthetic - than just "the sky often looks really cool and i think falling into the void would be fun".

And i'm not saying the Vast has no deeper meaning. It's just that rn i can't think of what that could be. I'd honestly love to feel more connected to the Vast - so please, tell me about what you think the Vast represents.

Btw, i think this is the reason why some fears are generally less liked and talked about than others - because most people find them less meaningful and relatable. So feel free to talk about the deeper meanings of other underappreciated fears too.

Finally meeting Gortash’s eyes makes him feel like a mallet’s been taken to his head, seeing the expression he imagines is on his own face reflected back to him. Wide, already dark eyes consumed by the blackest black of his pupils, taking shallow breaths through his ever so slightly slackjawed lips. He isn’t unaffected by this. Enver Gortash, professional liar, so affected he doesn’t even pretend not to be.

And then the bastard grins.

He watches as he reaches back for the champagne, unwilling to break eye contact. There’s a glint of manic excitement in his eye, and the faintest of wavers in voice as he holds the bottle up to Aeryn’s mouth.

The tingle between his thighs turns to a pounding throb as Gortash’s expression turns downright sadistic. He doesn’t have time to react before his head is being tugged back by Gortash’s fist in his hair and the disgusting liquid is forced into his open mouth. He knows it’s not poisoned, it was opened fresh and he’s already had a glass of it, so what’s this fucker’s game?! The bottle is put down, or it must be, because the hand it was in covers his mouth, barring exit.

“Be a dear and swallow it, darling, or do you want to choke?”

He reaches both hands up to seize Gortash’s wrist, but not before his hair is painfully yanked again, bringing a pitiful, muffled cry from him. That, along with the jostling nearly does make him choke.

“Breathe, and obey.” The way he can manipulate his voice to sound simultaneously so comforting and leave no room for disobedience should be studied by aspiring Banites everywhere. He realises the wretched throb between his thighs has only intensified, as well as the pounding of his heart, and the haziness in his skull. He closes his eyes - Father, forgive me, he’s ruined my life - and swallows.

Emotion overwhelms him, arousal, animalistic rage, dizziness, butterflies. He can only stare and shake violently as they war within him, unsure wether he wants to bury into Gortash’s chest cavity out of hatred or to crawl in and let himself be consumed. Hands slide away, taking their warmth with them, as Gortash leans back, shifting his weight, laughing faintly in disbelief and still wearing that shit eating grin, a mischievous look in his eye like he’s just been given the keys to Aeryn’s soul, and has no intention of using it with even the loosest definition of kindness.

“I can’t believe you let me do that. I just wanted to see what would happen but- Ha! My, my, you’ve lost your edge, little Bhaalist.”

yeah yeah i got recommended that Henry Cooldown analysis video whatever. i am still not over people comparing Henry to a medieval knight, NOT even taking the time to unpack that said mental image of a knight is 'mostly' associated with the British Monarchy*, an extension of its Empire that *checks notes* did a long list of atrocities like imperialism and colonialism, and also (multiple) genocides.

Henry is NOT British, he is Irish. Although considering the history of Ireland and how poorly the British Empire has treated them (amongst SO MANY OTHER COUNTRIES AND DIASPORAS), yeah it's NOT surprising that an Irish man like Henry is essentially forced to adopt quote on quote 'British sensibilities' to 'survive'. <- intentional imagery or not, the implications are not lost on me.

Like okay, calling out the comparison is cool but it sure would be nice if people went further to unpack what that means and implies in the long term. you know, like ACTUAL CRITICAL ANALYSIS?!

#the PROBLEM is. some properties I like I cannot even talk about my Criticisms™ because if I do it attracts people whose side I am NOT on #like in the case of a certain british procedural show adopting old mystery novels that went on hiatus a lot. I did not like season 4. #but that is not because The Ship didn't go canon and it CERTAINLY wasn't because I never thought any of the show was good in #the first place. and I don't like The Main Ship of the c-chibs era but it's because the way it was written was VERY much not for me. #it's not because I think the whole era is trash (that ship was really the ONLY part of it I didn't like I loved everything else) #I DO have beef with some of the choices in season 8 of The Gritty Deconstruction Fantasy Show but they sure weren't ANY of the issues #that anyone else had!!! and I don't think it retroactively ruined the whole show actually!!!!! #like it's just so frustrating. especially since sometimes I DO want to break down what I consider to be unfortunate writing choices. #and I DO want to complain sometimes! but so much of the discussion around various properties is taken up by me just. #trying to explain that I'm allowed to like it in the first place and defending why I don't think it's Unconditionally Bad #so I can't ever like. for example. discuss the deaths in 8x03 and my issues with THOSE as character endpoints #or why they killed mary and had her husband act terribly to her for no reason just before she died #or how shitty it was in the last era for me to see ANOTHER character be mentally ill but in the most unobtrusive palatable way possible #(and then also make that really weird comment about a previous love interest??? who WAS unpalatable in many ways--though not like. #canonically mentally ill. even if I and many other people are drawn to that interpretation.) #perHAPS I want to talk about my confusion over the story's handling of j/d for reasons that are not 'I hate these characters' or #'that's pRoBLeMaTiC and you shouldn't ship it because that's pRoBLeMaTiC' #maybe I WILL just make a 4-hour video essay unpacking all my Thoughts™ on that show. because people don't have to watch it! #they could just hit the back button!
