She was(is?) known as "Blackrock's songbird", a friendly face who helped keep morale up among people and the remaining soldiers of Blackrock.

However - as time went on, people got tired. Or began to see her as propaganda; her gear are the 'Sinister korblox wings' after all, and based off the concept of korblox being like. the sort of higher ups of blackrock.,, yeah. Glimmer herself has no affiliation with these higher ups however.

But none the less - with these connections, and growing frustrations, people began to take out their anger on her or tried to hurt her to 'send a message' - and in one particularly horrible event, nearly had her wings ripped off.

This caused her body to panic-adapt rapidly, giving her the two separate forms she has now; one containing her gear, twisted to be more monstrous for self defense, and the other, her main/usual form, where she appears a lot. softer and smaller to try and go under the radar

Now "Blackrock's songbird" seems to be a fleeting memory, though some seem to notice certain similarities between Glimmer and the figure... never enough to truly connect the dots, however.

i dont and im SO sad about it................ i have an IDEA of a tide design that im slowly working out though hold on. let me open aggie. what i DO know and can tell you right now is i imagine shockwave as a bundle of sharp and jagged shapes. his shoulders are all joints and his hands are like an old tree. i also want his hair to be more shaped and jagged in the same way so itll definitely be in a protective style thats more on the shorter side, but i havent decided which !!!! im thinking some sort of micro twist ? just to have a lot of movement while having a contained more sharp shape !

which will ALSO contrast a lot with tides hair which are goddess braids since i liked the flowing movement of water + since they r colored synthetic ends it will actually EMULATE how water looks !!!!!!!

anyways here what i have like. as some drafts ? im using tide to compare him to shockwave. with shockwaves ACTUAL design i gave used inspo from hazmat suits and the silly archetype of a mad scientist like large gloves and clothing !! so i gave him a drapping coat thingy which would HEYY !! more places to hide conductice material!! i also wanted to vaguely take a spider theme bc hes so spidery body type wise. i want him to look like he Crawls. i also tried to give it more of a square edgy thing. So combining these i hoped the tucked in sleeves gave more of a square shape and the dangly gold bits would add some visual unease. its a first draft so its.rough but hey !! thats what 1st drafts r for. it came out vaguely cowboy ish DJDJDJ

and then going with actual BODY designs instead of color work

something so fucked up about Chat Noir’s whole deal is that he is in a lot of ways Adrien playing a character. Like Adrien picked up his miraculous and was told he’d be a superhero so he was like “ok, time to act like a superhero!” and he lets himself have fun w it and play up the role and let loose and kind of just allow himself to be silly and goofy and have fun and for once in his life not care about performing Perfection™.

But. But none of the other characters KNOW THAT. So everyone just sees Chat Noir and is like “look at this guy’s ego. He’s so full of himself. Surely it’d be fair to knock him down a few pegs” without being aware of how few pegs he actually HAS. He’s like the “insecure character who overcompensates in ego” trope except he’s really not doing it unironically, he’s just having a fun LARP pretending to have self worth in his off-hours but nobody else is on the same page about it being a game and he refuses to tell them. He just dramatically pouts about it and lets them laugh and pretends like he’s not internalizing it and it is almost 3 am and my brain forced me to write this instead of sleeping I’m gonna take a melatonin

something that really stands out to me about dungeon meshi is that its not like its got these really complex and profound themes coyly tucked away behind a bunch of goofy food/cooking motifs. the goofy food/cooking motifs ARE the complex and profound themes, and the real "oh" moment that notoriously hits everyone like a freight train when theyre reading/watching it isnt the realization that theres story here, but the realization that there was story all along. like. dungeon meshi is about food but its also about hunger. its about ecosystems but its also about community. its about the natural cycle of life/death but its also about legacy. its also about izutsumi
