twn thoughts, in no order:
1. god i love aretuza and all the wretched sluts there <333333
2. thanedd ep was VERY good
3. this season was so unbelievably gay?? so many lesbians in particular, really appreciated that. also obviously appreciated jaskier/radovid even if radovid is discount lestat. he had charm! and the part of me that is forever 13 will always cheer when the boy i like on a show kisses another boy, i cannot deny this. (also “then take me here” was smooth as all hell, damn.)
3a. but like. everything was gay. all the sorceresses were so gay and emhyr and cahir were gay in a really nasty way (that i love) and valdo and jaskier were gay rivals and you KNOW yennefer and sabrina have banged before and also tissaia and philippa are exes. i don’t know where the hard left turn into homosexual propaganda came from but im LOVING it
4. love love love that ciri is becoming a fully developed Person with flaws and characteristics and not just Fantasy Girl Protagonist, i am absolutely dying to see her with the Rats
4a. OH AND ALSO MISTLE. MISTLE WAS GAY AND GORGEOUS AND ASTOUNDING. BRING ME MORE OF HER POSTHASTE
5. the yen & ciri fight was SO real it was hard to watch, like that is mother-daughter pain coming from someone who clearly knows it. that is just so--right down to the “dad” being idealized bc he doesn’t have to compromise his principles, bc men can get away with that. the gender of it all almost makes me sad that they seem to be dropping the creepy “ciri’s magical womb” element of the plot bc honestly i think they could handle it well, they SEE women so clearly. like aside from jaskier, who is just down to a very fun performance, the weakest points of this show are and have always been the white men, this show is about women!!!!
6. i got mixed up for a second and thought “can’t wait for part 2, i want liamralt” and that should tell you how i feel about twn geralt lmao. hcav was less actively offensive to watch than in s2, at least, although a lot of that is bc he didn’t have the potoo contacts and ab armor, not bc he actually did any better. but whatever this show is about Women so he doesn’t matter.

thinking about how quickly jaskier's color palette goes from blue to red from ep 5 to 6 and thinking about the bloodstains on his shirt in ep 5 while he's begging geralt not to go to yen and thinking about how after jaskier's switch to red everything starts going to shit and thinking about "the red sky at dawn/is giving a warning"

I'll level with you I really didn't care for mid season 1 Yennefer, she got on my nerves. I did not like her and geralts relationship (it was bad for both of them tbh, geralts coming out looking worse though by far). The thing is though yennefer's scenes with Jaskier this season were so good, they're really cute and FUNNY together. THEY HAVE ACTUAL CHEMISTRY!!! As buds AND as a couple! i normally ship geraskier but show geralt can take a long walk off of a short pier. Yenskier's growing on me
oh man I definitely have Opinions about it. (Future Raps note: this got too long and it's twn critical, so it's going under a Read More fdkjgdf)
I also didnt like Yen on 1st watch, but I did on my 2nd, and I think it has a lot to do with the timeline issue. She had a BIG change of heart from 1 episode to the next, and they tell us it's cause she's spent decades in court and realized it's not what she wanted but we as the audience dont get to SEE or FEEL that change. She later wants a kid, and a casual viewer feels like just an hour ago she was ok with giving that up to gain power, it was a choice she made and it's so weird that she regretted that (in what FEELS like) immediately after and seems to be blaming other people for it.
more understanding of the chartacter helps get her motivations better, but i think she suffered the Too Much Info in Too Little Time curse, and also from the fact that the writers love to say a lot but show very little. Sometimes they won't even say it ON the show!! They'll say it on a tweet or an interview! This makes me extremely angry, if you can't tell!!!
Yen/Geralt suffers from the same, tbh. Even worse, the push for the relationship works to the detriment of Yennefer as a character imo. In s1 we're supposed to see them as this epic tragic love story, but again we are just TOLD that a long time happened in between eps 5 and 6. We are TOLD that they're bad for each other. We see some fucking FLASHBACKS in 2 minutes, with a voice over of them explaining how they felt so bad whenever they woke up and the other was gone. It's bullshit and most people didnt get it! That's why you get 10000 fics believing that this was only the 2nd time they met and it was only a couple months later. Cause that's not how you tell a story.
And THEN we have their reunion in s2, which i still think was terrible writing. It makes sense from Geralt's pov, cause he thought she was dead, but yennefer never thought that. FDJKGNDF yen didnt even THINK about him much unless someone else mentioned him!! And when she did she was mad and hurt! WHAT'S THAT "how is this possible?" LINE, it makes no sense. Their problem wasn't solved. Geralt doesnt even fucking apologize, they dont TALK about it.
So yeah it makes no sense for her character, but it DOES make sense for PLOT PURPOSES. They needed them to be together and happy and show them with Ciri as the Happy Family they could be, so the "betrayal" would hurt more.
It also totally ruins what could've been an interesting progression of Yen's character. You know. A girl who went from pushing her friends into an eel pond cause "sometimes the best thing a flower can do for us is die" to deciding that sacrificing the life of a child for her own benefit wasn't worth it ON HER OWN, and instead gave her the line "i didnt know she was your child"
anyway. ANYWAY DFKJGNDF this got out of control oh god. I haven't had COFFEE yet it's too early for this. sorry for my ramblings. I cant even remember what the ask was about, hold on- AH YEAH. yennskier this season was great, I agree. I liked them already but now I'm fully on board, they deserve the best ❤
KJFDNG ANYWAY IM SORRY ANON, IM SALTY ABOUT SOME THINGS.

Witcher Season 2
I watched it!  And I have a lot of opinions about the tweaks it would take to fix it!
Anyway, I wrote about ep 1-4 on DW here, and ep 5-8 here, where for each episode, I briefly sum up what happens, and then what I would do to fix it.  I know there’s lots of different ways to do a fixit, but I tried to keep most of the major plot beats, just moving some scenes around, mostly removing unnecessary plot maneuvering and adding in more character interactions.  (So that when Ciri says that Geralt is always there for her, we believe it.)  Also, I bring Yen and Jaskier into the story more (goodbye, Triss!), and Eskel is replaced by a different Witcher named Neskel.)
So, read on if you want my alternate version of Witcher Season 2:
Ep 1: Ciri and Geralt visit Nivellen and gain sympathy for the bruxa.  Everyone thinks Yen is dead. Ep 2: Ciri and Geralt at KM, Neskel (Not-Eskel) returns from a leshy hunt, and before he has a chance to invite everyone from town, he goes all Leshy and Geralt ends up having to kill Neskel. All the witchers gather for his burial, and Ciri learns a bit about Witchers and KM.  Ciri decides to do training, with Geralt's help.  Yen/Fringilla/Francesca have their Baba Yaga vision, Yen realizes that she doesn't have Chaos, Frin/Fran teams up. Ep 3: Yen gets to Aretuza and tells Tissaia that she lost her Chaos, and Tissaia basically shoves her back out the door (in order to protect her but also bc power is everything).  Feeling desperate and alone, Yen agrees to Baba Yaga's deal of getting Ciri, starts heading toward KM.  Geralt does some training with Ciri, and takes her Leshy hunting.  Ciri learns about how to be a Witcher, bonds with Geralt and Vesemir and other KM denizens. Ep 4: Yen runs into Jaskier on her journey up to KM, they have some good moments -- Jaskier helps smuggle Yen through Redania, Yen helps Jaskier when he gets caught by Rience.  Yen asks Jaskier to travel with her to KM and Jaskier decides to stay where he's more needed (also because he wants Geralt to apologize, which Yen agrees with).  Yen shows up at KM and offers to help Ciri with her magic (secretly hoping to get Ciri strong enough to portal to Baba Yaga).  Background stuff about Cintra becoming a haven for elves, and Frin/Fran bonding moments. Ep 5: Geralt goes to investigate the Leshy forest and finds a broken Monolith.  Yen begins to be attached to Ciri as she teaches her magic.  Vesemir pressures Ciri about using her blood to create Witcher mutagen.  Ciri is tempted and confused, and has a good convo with Yen about feeling powerless.  After a vision quest with Yen's help, Ciri remembers Calanthe and Eist and decides to call an all-Witcher council to discuss whether to bring back the mutagens or not.  Geralt returns in time to (a) explain Witcher mutagen trauma, (b) reassure Ciri that she doesn't need that to be a Witcher, (c) reassure Ciri that he's there for her, she doesn't need to be a Witcher.  Meanwhile, Istredd does some Monolith-studying and Cintran records research, and realizes that Ciri has Elderblood.  He returns to the Cintran capital just in time to see Cahir return. Ep 6: Geralt, Yen and Ciri gets attacked by a monster and Yen isn't able to use her magic, leading to Roach death.  Geralt takes both her and Ciri to Nenneke for magic help.  As they arrive, Yen talks to Geralt about how Jaskier is nearby and he really needs to go and apologize.  Geralt grunts thoughtfully.  While there, Geralt talks with Ciri about her worries, and he talks to Yen about how she is more than her magic.  Rience attacks, and Yen and Ciri portal out, leaving Geralt.  Meanwhile, tensions rise in Cintra under Cahir, and Francesca has a baby. Ep 7: Yen leads Ciri to the broken Monolith in Cintra, thinking she can outwit and control Baba Yaga.  Meanwhile, mounting tensions in Cintra as Francesca thinks she's outwitted Baba Yaga and starts reneging on her promises to Fringilla. Cut back to Ciri, finding out Yen's plan and feeling betrayed, then hearing the voice of Baba Yaga, saying that she knows what Ciri wants.  Fringilla, in order to seize power, kills the Nilfgaard generals.  Geralt finds and frees Jaskier, apologizes to him properly, and Jaskier uses his bard/smuggling connections to find out that (a) Yen/Ciri are in Cintra and (b) Nilfgaardians and Redanians are both after her.  (Meanwhile, in Aretuza, Istredd tells Tissaia about Ciri.)  Geralt and Jaskier (and dwarves) go to save Ciri from Nilfgaardian soldiers, and they ride back to KM.  There is a flash of Baba Yaga inside Ciri.  Francesca's baby gets assassinated. Ep 8: Francesca declares war on all humans but then Istredd shows up and tells her about Ciri, and from that Francesca finds hope.  Meanwhile Ciri is living her dream of the past, while Baba Yaga pilots her body to open the Monolith at KM and summon monsters.  The Witchers agree that they don't want a re-run of Neskel, and while Vesemir leads the other Witchers to deal with the monsters, Geralt, Yen and Jaskier try to get Ciri back.  Yen is using potions and Geralt is using his words and Jaskier is playing a song from Cintra.  These things combined reminds Ciri that she has family here, and that she hasn't lost Cintra forever, either.  She says goodbye to Calanthe, Eist and Mousesack in her vision (no parents bc she has no memory of them), and returns just in time to do that weird portal thing and foreshadow the Wild Hunt. Emhyr shows up, reveals that he's behind the baby killing, ousts Fringilla. Montage of Emhyr, Elves, Redania, and Brotherhood all deciding that they need to hunt down Ciri, juxtaposed with Ciri being happy with her family at KM.

@thequeeninyellowlace I'm a bit confused by this response because, as you say, what she wants is her choice back - so why do you also say she wants 'nothing but a man and a baby'? Those things contradict each other. The first mention of Yennefer wanting to regain her fertility is in episode 5, when she first meets Geralt, and they separate in ep 6, which is the last time her fertility is mentioned - I’m interested to hear what you think her storyline is for all of episodes 2, 3, 4, 7 and 8 if the only thing her character revolves around is her desire for a man and a baby? That means 71.43% of her time on-screen doesn’t involve Geralt or fertility. Looking at those numbers, I don’t think it’s the show that is reducing her to a character that revolves around romance/having a baby.
There's been a lot of discussion on the topic of Yennefer's fertility, so it's not something I want to get deeply into again here. Other people have written about it better than I can. It is about her wanting choice back, and both the desire for a child and for a lover is just part of her ultimate desire 'to be important to someone'. That's what lies at the heart of it. She's looking for purpose, for meaning - a very human desire I think many of us can relate to. It just presents differently for her than it might for us. Also there is nothing inherently wrong or sexist with a female character wanting a child (not that she ever actually says ‘I want a baby’).
I'm presuming here that you're coming from the perspective of only having seen the show, but do correct me if I'm wrong. Having read a couple of the books now, I do think in the show there should have been more setup for her and Geralt's relationship as it was pretty rushed, but I don't think they're toxic and shitty. We are at the beginnings of their relationship, and there would be no story for them if everything was great right away. They try their best, and they'll get there. And yes there are things about their relationship that aren't healthy, but also they're fictional - and it makes for good storytelling. Okay if you're not into that that's fine, but I personally find complex relationships very compelling and lol real life relationships are very rarely entirely healthy anyway. The Witcher books are 30 years old now, we've known for a very long time what they're about - Ciri, Yennefer and Geralt. The Witcher is a story that has Yen and Geralt’s relationship at its heart, and if you’re expecting anything else from the show you’re going to be disappointed.
And ultimately my desire to see more Yen content has little to do with her relationship to Geralt - we manage to create amazing backstories and headcanons and content about characters we have little information on (like Jaskier) as well as ones we haven't even met yet (Vesemir, Lambert, Eskel), so why can't the same be applied to a female character with a lot of backstory? If there are parts of her story you don't like, change them! Ship her with someone else, make gen Geralt & Yen content as you say that’s what you want. Creating content to do with Yen doesn't require an engagement with her as a romantic interest - she has plenty of life outside of Geralt (again, 71%). And the post I made wasn't about making original content - it was about sometimes not even seeing a reblog of a screencap of her, or a nice gifset, or a piece of fanart on someone’s blog, and me finding that... questionable, considering she is a fantastic, complex, brilliantly acted, non-white female lead. i.e. Everything we have been asking for for years, no?

Short update on Watching Movies Shows With Hubs.
We watched ep 5 and 6 of The Witcher - again, he was pretty quiet, which means he’s into it (which makes me happy! I knew he’d like it)
He laughed far too hard at the pie without a filling comment and looked at me when Geralt yelled I can’t Fucking sleep and said it’s your spirit animal babe 🙄
Tumblr media
The orgy scene he said “so it’s that kinda party.... god he’s so awkward. That must have been a really weird scene to film... how do you remember your lines when some chic is floating in the air getting eaten?”
Tumblr media
At some point he looked at me and was like this is just a love story, wrapped in fancy paper?
Tumblr media
He did not like the shape shifter dude.
Tumblr media
He was upset at how Mousak (spelling?) died.
Tumblr media
He shook his head and was like Aw Geralt! When he chased away Yen and Jaksier at the end of ep6.
Tumblr media
Other than that he was pretty enthralled.

Hi! I'm the anon that decided to start watching Witcher! I didn't really see the point of continuing to be on anon so I'm not anymore. I just finished episode one and I am already emotionally invested. Geralt deserves several hugs. I'm sad about Renfri, I really liked her and mistakenly thought she was Yennefer for a bit. I loved all of the strong female characters in this episode.
So is the fall of the castle and the princess, is that not happening at the same time as the Geralt story line? That part I was a bit unsure about
hi liv! im so glad you're enjoying aksdfhlad
YES GERALT NEEDS MANY HUGS and yes renfri oh god a true tragedy...she was awesome tho
yes the princess is ciri. that time line takes place over about 2 weeks. and geralts i think takes place over like 50 years? lemme consult google hang on
okay. here's what i got (with as few spoilers as possible):
EP 1:
-blaviken (where geralt killed all those people):1231.  -the fall of cintra (the castle and the princess): 1263
EP 2:
-jaskier and geralt meet in the tavern: 1240 -introduced to child yennefer: 1206 -ciri meets the elf: 1263
EP 3:
-yen completes sorceress school: 1210 -geralt meets up with triss and fights the striga: 1243 -ciri goes into the magic forest: 1263
EP 4:
-geralt and jaskier go to pavettas (ciri’s moms) betrothal banquet (this ep is so confusing cause the grandma is there and sos the mom and you're like wait, didn't they already die? but no they died in ciris timeline which is after this one): 1249 -yennefer body guards some royal lady and her baby: 1240 -ciri and her elf friend meet the dryads: 1263
EP 5:
-geralt and jaskier catch the djinn and meet yennefer: 1256 *yennefer and geralt are now in the same timeline* -ciri meets mousesack again: 1263
EP 6:
-geralt, yennefer and jaskier go on the dragon hunt: 1262 -ciri and elf escape: 1263
EP 7:
-geralt goes to cintra before it falls, yen goes to her old sorceress school: 1263 (but still before ciris timeline) -ciri finds some cintrans: 1263
EP 8:
-yennefer joins some sorceresses, geralt and ciri meet: 1263 *they are all in the same time line as soon as geralt and ciri meet, prior to that geralt and yen are still in a different timeline*
is that helpful? the years might be off a little bit thats the gist. the timeline is actual ass to understand

geralt and jaskier’s relationship fascinates me so much.
it makes a bit more sense in the books/games where geralt is like “yes i want a friend” from the get go but in the netflix series geralt is all “i need no one” yet despite claiming to need no one, he lets jaskier stick around for 22 years.
that’s an awfully long time, even for a witcher.
(more under the cut bc this got long)
literally, in the netflix series jaskier is the person who has been around geralt for the longest. obvs there’s the wolf school and regis and such, but asides from his fellow immortals 22 years is the longest anyone’s ever spent with geralt. and they don’t seem to spend all their time together (i’m thinking that line in ep 5 from jask - “how long as it been? months? years? what’s time anyway?”) but they still do travel together quite a lot.
and geralt very obviously cares for jaskier - he’s the closest to panicky we ever see him when the djinn attacks jaskier. he goes to pavetta’s betrothal to guard jaskier with minimal grumbling. what i wonder is why geralt sticks around with jaskier. i think from jaskier’s point of view it’s quite obvious - he has some sort of infatuation with geralt, be it romantic or platonic, no matter how you read it. i personally read it as a romantic infatuation, but it works if you read it as a platonic infatuation too.
so why does geralt stick around jaskier? that’s the big question i have - come on, netflix, answer me. like! geralt clearly cares for jaskier! but by the time we see geralt being affectionate with/caring for jaskier, they’ve known each other for about a decade (since they’ve known each other for 22 years by ep 6, and geralt returns to cintra for the first time in 12 years shortly after ep 6 - no more than a year after the dragon hunt i think).
i just wanna know what happened in those 10 years for geralt’s attitude to jaskier go from “fuck off bard” to “fuck off bard (with affection, not actually wanting him to fuck off)”. geralt neither needs nor is bound to jaskier, and he doesn’t exactly drip with overwhelming affection for jaskier either, but his actions show that he cares for him. he wants jaskier to be safe. but why? what happened in those 10 years and why did geralt choose to form that friendship in the first place?
what i find rlly interesting is that geralt chooses to be jaskier’s friend. with yen, it was a djinn. with ciri, it was the law of surprise. with the other wolf school witchers, it was, well, witchering. geralt’s friendship with jaskier is the only relationship he truly chooses to have. he did choose to bind himself to yennefer, yes, but that was a bit of a life or death situation. with jaskier there’s not that much of a life or death pressure; geralt cd have just galloped away on roach after the incident with the elves, but he didn’t. he chose to stay with jaskier, and i want to know why.
one of my personal headcanons is that their relationship started out with geralt going “this bard is a BABY it is morally irresponsible to leave him be he is only eighteen” but if that was the case wouldn’t geralt have just dumped jaskier in the nearest town? there is something in geralt’s relationship with jaskier that led geralt to choose to stay, even from the very beginning, and i wanna know what that is.
i think by ep 4 it’s irrefutable that geralt cares for jaskier in some way or another. his love language seems to be act of service (asking yen to travel up the mountain with him and the dwarves to keep her safe, protecting jaskier at the betrothal feast, getting immediate medical attention for jaskier) and he very muh obviously cares for jaskier. personally i blame visenna for geralt’s lack of emotional expression (baby!geralt was an adorable little babbling mess and then visenna went and fucked him up through childhood abandonment. i have so many theories for this but it’s got to be another post entirely).
geralt cares for jaskier. we cannot deny this. what i wonder is how he started caring for jaskier because we missed out the first ten years of their friendship and i just!!! wanna know!!!

Wiedzmin/Witcher 2002, reasons to watch ep 4:
(note that this episode is filmed 90% by the book) 1. Dragons aren’t mice, they gotta eat - scene with Geralt going all protective over local fauna
Tumblr media
2. Young and flirtatious Borch
Tumblr media
3. Really flirtatious. You can see him undressing Geralt with his eyes.
Tumblr media
4. Flustered Geralt trying to cover his neck with his shoulders when zerrikanians touch him up in the tavern
Tumblr media
5. THE BATH SCENE where they fucked twice, first without the girls
Tumblr media
6. Accurate representation of what “the lord said to close the road“ really looks like.
Tumblr media
7. This is what my last 2 braincells judging my behaviour look like
Tumblr media
8. Just look at  lord Niedamir drinking his water in his cute crown while Yen growls at Geralt
Tumblr media
9. Saving the draginling, so sweet
Tumblr media
10. The way Geralt looks at Borch
Tumblr media
Bonus points for Yen and Geralt:
-  Some juicy sensual sex flashbacks
Tumblr media
- Riding through the fields together like the power couple we deserve
Tumblr media
Although...
the bath scene could be better
zerrikanians might seem a bit strange
Jaskier is present, but not really there
saving Yennefer and many of the dragon scenes could have been closer to the books

Love Yourself Challenge
Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your 5 favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc. ) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world. Tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
Ooooh thank you so much for the tag, my dear @lilacsdandelionsandonions! This was such a fun trip down memory lane, and actually got me so excited for all the fics i have in the works! 🥰
This year for me has been filled with the Witcher, and geraskier fics in particular, and i wouldn’t have it any other way. Now - in no particular order:
1. i hate that i don’t hate you: my first ep.6 fix-it fic (but certainly not my last). Geralt and Ciri take refuge at the Academy in Oxenfurt and meet Jaskier. Apologies, feelings, and some smut ensues. This was the first time i played around with the concept that Jaskier would’ve spent the years between the betrothal feast and the dragon hunt going back to Cintra to check on Ciri, and I haven’t been able to let go of this headcanon since.
2. you shine (like a diamond): aka my star!Jaskier AU, where Geralt figures out that Jaskier glows brightest around him. This was actually cross-posted from my tumblr, where it remains, to this day, my most popular fic, with almost 4K notes to it. I had no idea when I wrote this fluffy ficlet that people would be so into it, but I’m still so thankful!
3. could be will be maybe?: another ep.6 fix-it fic, and my most recent one. Prompted to me by my dearest @merthurlocked, this fic actually covers how Jaskier bonds with Ciri over the years, agonizes over keeping this secret from Geralt, and finally, reunites with Geralt and Ciri both in Kaer Morhen after being kidnapped by a rogue mage looking for Ciri. A whole bunch of found family (my specialty), angst, pining, and a happy ending, which has become kind of a favorite combo of mine in my fics.
4. insouciance: my attempt at writing porn with plot. Jaskier and Geralt are basically friends with benefits through the years, and then finally realize they want to be more. It’s fluffy and porny both, and was a good exercise for me In smut-writing because I’m actually not great with writing smut, but am very invested in getting better. I threw ep. 6 in the trash for this fic (where it belongs) and Jaskier is part elf in this one for no other reason than because I Want It. Actually - Jaskier is part elf in most of my fics (I will slide it in even if it doesn’t matter to the plot) because he and Geralt are gonna be in love and have a little found family together with Yen and Ciri foreverrrr.
5. we can help each other (we can heal together): i could not end this list without we can help which is probably my most ambitious undertaking to date, clocking in at 13.7K words. It’s another geraskier fix-it fic (because of course it is. do i actually know how to write anything else) but starts from the premise that Yennefer and Jaskier find each other after the dragon hunt, help each other through their respective heartbreaks, and actually become quite good (best) friends. The story alternates between the POVs of Yen, Jaskier, and Geralt, with sweet moments of friendship between Yen and Jaskier, matchmaker Yennefer, and some soft smut for our bois. It was a monster to write, and i’m ridiculously proud of it, and every day, i am thrilled by how many people left kudos and comments telling me how much they enjoyed it.
Tagging @merthurlocked, @mydarlingwitcher, @disasterboysandtheirgruffloves, @mystic-majestic, @dandelionslute, @weakforjaskier if y’all haven’t been tagged already/are interested in doing this. Much love to you all!

i'm very new to the witcher fandom. would you mind explaining the canon of geralt left jaskier on a mountain? i know it's gonna break my heart but i need to know
Ok SO I know this is rlly late but I'll give a quick summary:
In Ep. 5: "Bottled Appetites", Yennefer tries to become a vessel for a djinn so she can regain her fertility. Geralt was actually the djinn's master, and since he used two of his wishes already (one to (unknowingly) wish for "some damn peace" which caused the djinn to attack Jaskier’s throat, and the other to kill his torturer (and this is when he realized he was the djinns master, even though he and yen thought it was Jaskier)) he uses his last wish to save yennefer's life and doesn't tell her what it was.
In Ep. 6 "Rare Species", Geralt and Yennefer protect a dragon egg, and in his human form, the dragon whose egg they were protecting says "i see why you didn't want to lose her, Geralt" and when yen doesn't know what je means, Geralt tells her that the wish he made with the djinn was to bind their destinies together. Yen gets angry and hurt, as she now believes that nothing about their relationship was real and this is yet another part of her life in which she's lost a choice, and yen and geralt have a big argument. Yen leaves Geralt, saying he's already lost her, and he's heartbroken and angry.
Jaskier actually watched the whole argument (he was sitting about a few feet away from the whole blow-up) and he speaks up in an attempt to try to be light hearted...
Only for Geralt to turn around and rage at him.
He blames Jaskier for everything wrong in his life and tells him "if life could grant me one blessing, it would be to take you off my hands".
Jaskier is visibly heartbroken, and tells him that he'll get the rest of the story from the others and... "See you around, Geralt." before turning around and leaving.
Geralt stays quiet and does nothing to apologize, and this is their last interaction (and Jaskier's last appearance) in the show thus far.
Hope that helps :>

i meant other pairings and not 1d i’m kinda bored of them at the moment lol sorry if this is annoying
efinitely NOT annoying! I tend to jump in and out of pairings based on authors, so my recs tend to be a bit all over the place yet narrowly focused on those authors, especially because I tend to jump in and out of pairings as I’m re-inspired/re-watch or as my fave authors write about them. Here are some recent faves (last six months or so), so I hope that helps!
1. Forever in my heart is Napollya (Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin, Man from UNCLE). I read both TV and movie versions, and yes, they have the same characters, but they differ quite a bit??? I tend to prefer the movie, tbh, plus it gave me the gift of wonderful friendship in the form of @alienfuckeronmain and @newleafover, so I vote starting with their fics, which are here and here. I have tons of other faves I can rec if you want a wider variety, but here are my top five.
2. When the first Star Wars sequel or whatever we call it came out, pretty much all my fave TMFU authors drifted straight into the Finnpoe (Stormpilot??) pairing, and I followed right along with them because SO MUCH GREAT FIC. Here’s a list I did for someone a while back, but it doesn’t include one of my newer faves, one that packs so many fic tropes into one piece it’s breathtaking. (Sadly, I find it harder to find newer fic in this pairing that has the same level as four or so years ago--way too much Rylo Ken for me, even MENTIONED).
3. The Witcher has at least three amazing pairings, depending on who you’re asking and whether they’re referring to the show, books, or videogames. Phoenix has written some amazing Geralt/Jaskier, of which this is one. Kim rec’d me some great Geralt/Emhyr, but I think I love this amazing space au the best? That said, there’s an AMAZING cross-fandom author who’s written a bunch of Witcher fic that I’m slowly picking through (I wanna say Terran might have recs for Yen/Geralt, but that’s a wild guess I haven’t followed up on and probably will once I read the books).
4. Speaking of Star Wars, old school Han/Luke is a solid, can’t-miss fic staple. Phoenix has tons of canon, but Blake did a kick-ass punk AU recently, if you want something similar but not exactly in that U (they also did Lando/Luke, which is SO GOOD). Yes, yes, there are other authors apart from these two, but their fics truly do stick, so they’d be where I’d you if you liked other stuff they’ve written.
5. Lightning McQueen/Doc Hudson, and before you scoff, READ THIS. Phoenix pretty much built this pairing, any of her fics for it are amazing, but this one? This is a movie starring Paul Newman and a young Brad Pitt (or some other Hollywood himbo), and it will break your heart while it wins every indie award out there. (Before you ask, yes, they’re humans, zero cars are fucking other cars--what i see on twitter is why I want to make that crystal clear, lmao)
6. I don’t go here yet, but I’m ready to fling myself into the sun that is the Untamed in a few months when I finally work my way through the series (then back over the first few eps to see what I missed and work out all my name issues). No recs yet, BUT YEAH, I feel the pull, definitely rec the show!
I’ll stop here because it starts getting hyperspecific in a way that I’m not sure is actually helpful, but basically, if you like a piece of media, and you feel vague feelings for a pairing, there’s fic for it. I’m being pulled into Columbo of all things because of a blog I follow, and I’ll definitely rewatch and read up. I doubt there’s a ton of stuff out there for that one, but sometimes there’s a LOT of fic for your random pairing, and that’s where the fun starts! Think of all the hockey fic waiting out there, ay yi yi--at any rate, hope this intrigues you, at least!
(p.s. one last suggestion: you don’t need to know ANYTHING about the Hobbit, god knows I don’t, and I edit it, but I cannot stress highly enough how good this one is, modern AU)

So there are scenes between Geralt and Yennefer missing between episodes 5 and 6, right? What do you think happened those other times when she always left?
We’re literally given a glimpse into at least one more time they met up and had sexy time so yeah their paths crossed in between episodes 5 and 6. The show had to handle multiple timelines (quite a feat just by storytelling standards) and we know thanks to Yennefer’s “the crow’s feet are new” to Jaskier that some years have passed between the two episodes.
Now, i’m only familiar with the show, not the books nor the video games, so that scene of them two discussing other times they met was a little bit surprising (and confusing). From what I caught a bit online, season 1 covers at least 2 books while Geralt and Yennefer’s on-again-off-again relationship spans years. Quite hard to adapt into an 8 episodes season, I’d guess. So they chose to briefly show that stuff happened in between ep 5 and 6, giving the relation more depth, but nothing big enough to truly change the dynamic. (this is only my take, of course)
As a show only viewer, I’d say that first of all, these two enjoyed each other’s company tremendously if you know what i mean all those other times. But of course, it’s not just that. Geralt can’t resist her in any way so it’s safe to assume that they held deeper discussions and bickered a shitload “everytime i’m near you, i say more in five minutes than i have said in weeks”, enough to get a good grasp of how the other is and to establish some kind of trust. They do have similarities in their background stories and even if they don’t discuss it until ep6, it’s enough for a connection and to understand the other’s way of thinking. Also, we got to see how terrible Geralt is at handling things with Yennefer, I mean he continues that sentence with “i always regret it”. Geralt, you suck at this. Or even him saying “definitely” to “do you think i would make a bad mother?” At the same time, we’ve got Yennefer who’s learned to only count on herself and be very self-reliant “I can take care of myself” being self-reliant is good! but not at the cost of pushing others away which is exactly what Yen does on most occasions, I also believe Yennefer to be extremely mistrustful. She gives Geralt her body but she refuses to give her self to him. It’s not against Geralt per say, though he certainly doesn’t help his case, but Yennefer was sold by her father, and then the only guy she trusted, Istredd, told her biggest secret away, almost as a commodity. That scene on the beach where Yen speaks of girls/women being only vessels? She doesn’t see herself as a vessel but she probably assumes that all men only see her as such. Plus, Geralt left first back in Rinde he’s a trainwreck ffs, so to Yen, he’s proving to be like any other. So combine that mistrust, that fear of being seen only as a vessel and Geralt being a trainwreck and you get a Yen who would rather flee than stay. This way, she’s got control and power over what is happening with Geralt.
So I guess that’s happened: nothing really major, just deepening the bond/connection these two have while doing their best not to get attached. except that last part doesn’t work and that’s why the events of 1x06 sting so badly for both of them
edit: Yen probably threatened Geralt to end his life if he pissed her off too much (“she’s plenty able of murdering you herself”)
