I love to crochet so much but it causes me physical pain when I have to play yarn chicken. Like the fuck you mean you’re gonna run out BEFORE I’m done, I fucking own you, you’re down when I say you’re done

Confessions of a Hand Knitter: I Still Buy Store-Bought Sweaters
In which I confess...I still buy sweaters at stores. A bad thing? Maybe not.
“Did you make that?” Someone asked me recently, admiring a new cardigan with intricate cable work, made of tiny laceweight yarn. “Uh, no,” I replied sheepishly. My admirer gasped. “YOU bought a sweater at a STORE?!” Yes. I, an avid knitter and maker of pullover and cardigan sweaters, still buy sweaters at stores.  It all goes down to eyesight. I’ve worn glasses since I was seven years old,…

Does anyone know of a good DIY replacement for a Loops and Threads yarn winder table clamp? I lost mine and Michael's (which is the parent company as well as the retail store that carries it) doesn't sell replacement parts for it :/

So I have a nervous stim where I rub the palm of my hand and I’ve rubbed it completely raw. I’ve been really struggling to find a way to not do it so my hand can heal. I made this, super simple, single crochet in a round that fits around my hand, attach a chain around the thumb and then more single crochet. So far it’s worked pretty well. I can still rub it, and I don’t damage the skin more. So yeah this is a thing

Crafting is really just a series of going:
"No, you can't start a new project. You need to finish an old one first"
"But I **promise** that I'll finish this one!!"
"Okay, fine"
And then you add another unfinished project to the pile

Me: Ugh, fingering weight tops for my size take FOREVER to make, I'm just going to use up what I have and never make a fingering weight top ever again!
Also me: I want to be able to wear hand knit clothes every day in summer, and I only have five short sleeve fingering weight projects planned, which means I need to get yarn to make three more to have eight to cover laundry day every week. I Will Not Regret This.

One of the great things about fiber arts (at least to me) is that... you outright own the things you make. It's hard for me to comprehend actually owning something, and that's that. The item you have created doesn't need to come with strings attached (pun intended).
In a world where you are constantly buying things but not owning any of it, truly, it's such an odd experience to actually have ownership of your labour, time, and love like that.

Thinking about my neurology appointment again, I have another weird question for y'all! My neurologist was surprised and said it was weird I was right handed, which I am assuming is because of the reflex and grip tests she did, not because I give off a left-handed kind of vibe Wait I was going to ask if it was weird that I, a non-ambidextrous person, hit and kick evenly with both right and left sides, open doorknobs with whichever hand is closer, and use the foot pedal for the sewing machine with whichever foot it ends up nearer but can't write with my left hand But I just tried it and I can write with my left hand??? Like, not as neatly or as quickly as with my right, but it's clearly legible and not difficult to do. Have I been ambidextrous this entire time??

Different colors same cuteness. It took me like a month but now that I see them together I feel so happy 😊 I hope they sell at the Christmas bazaar in my city, I hope people find them as cute as I see them ✨
( This is my own pattern, inspired by some google images)

Trying to finish something I was supposed to do ages ago--spinning a contrast color for this sock yarn. The fleece (southdown babydoll) had a pretty wide range of grays, most of which I blended together. But I intentionally left the darkest gray out of the mix so that later I could spin up just that, and have a dark gray for the toe and heel. So, now I'm doing that.
One thing I did not realize until now (due to intentionally avoiding working with the darker gray locks) is that they are all much shorter than the other colors of gray, and a lot of them are way finer too. That's not ideal, so I might not use it for the toe--it won't be as hard-wearing of a yarn and the toe/ball of the foot is what wears out the fastest on my socks by far, so. It's fine though, I just want some kind of decorative element that uses the fact that this fleece had lots of nice colors.
I'm also not that surprised, I guess. The longest locks were always the very light gray ones. Hard to know why without seeing the sheep though.
