Explore Vault of the Incarnates in World of Warcraft
Tumblr media
World of Warcraft is often referred to as WOW, and it is a wonderful way to put your skills to the test! One of the challenging but exciting explorations is Vault of the Incarnates. It is the first raid in Dragonflight, and it is very difficult to get through. This thrilling place is known for its reign of fire and blood, and the goal is to defeat Raszageth from purging the world of titan powers.
This is a new addition; it just came out in December of 2022. There are four wings designed in it, and only one of them is accessible right now. The other three will be opening up for access on December 19, January 2 and then January 16. This raid is going to be challenging but it is fun to see what you can do with it!
Encounters
While on your quest in Vault of the Incarnates, there are several encounters to face. They are designed to prevent you from achieving your ultimate goal and completing the level. If you can get through all of them, you will be in a battle against Raszageth. Before you reach that point, the bosses are trying to keep you from reaching Raszageth. They are his protector. Each of them features specific abilities and loot. There is plenty of information online sharing those details with you. Knowing what you are up against with each of them can help you create your strategy. Your objective is to kill all the bosses so you can reach Raszageth, the Storm Eater. After you successfully kill three bosses, you will get access to bonus loot. You will get higher value loot when you reach six bosses and again when you reach eight bosses killed.
Boosting Assistance
For many players of WOW, getting through Vault of the Incarnates is difficult due to the lack of time they have to play the game. Realistically, they don’t have hours and hours to learn the best strategies and go through the process of killing the bosses to reach Raszageth. They are interested in the game, but it is hard for them to make the time commitment. Others lack the skills to do it on their own.
For either scenario, it is possible to purchase boosting assistance for this particular raid. The best providers offer a variety of choices when it comes to this type of boosting power. For example, you should be able to choose if you want normal, heroic, or mythic mode. You can choose a full 8/8 clearance or perhaps you need to eliminate the last few bosses. In some cases, the player is requesting help with Raszageth.
Who to get Boosting Services from?
If the boosting services for Vault of the Incarnates are interesting to you, evaluate the providers. How long will it take for the boost to be completed? If they can’t offer it within 6 hours of purchase it isn’t a good offer.
How much do they charge?
 It can be useful to compare prices of similar services for this to verify you get a good deal. Don’t overpay for boosting services to help you with this raid.
Does the company have an outstanding reputation?
They should be identified by players as a leader in this industry. They should have the right skills to help you with WOW and customer service available for any questions you may have. Such assistance can help you get through this raid in a way that best fits your schedule and lifestyle.

About Us: Enjoy more benefits from the game World of Warcraft with boosting services and training. It is exciting to play the game, but frustrating when you lack the skills to do well with it. At http://gladiatorboost.com/ you can get the help you need to be a top competitor and to continue to challenge yourself. The boosting services available are safe to use and reasonably priced. You decide on the number of Vault Bosses you wish to engage in. More bossescan be added if you run out of loot and feel you could benefit from more bosses. This one on one service can help you be on top of your game!

After finishing up my trigunbookclub reread of volume1, I feel I've come to a greater understanding of some of its first themes presented.
If the first story arc (ch00-04) introduces us to the tone & setting, where even on such a harsh, inhospitably dry desert planet to live, humanity's so often pushed to resort to violence to even survive, we're also shown how those unfortunate conditions and choices--even for this necessitated way of life, doesn't mean that humanity itself is inherently evil or a lost cause. :O I feel that's one of the biggest distinctions made.
Then in the Sand Steamer arc (ch05-09), I've come to appreciate the significance of Rem being introduced here--in a way that metaphorically (and successfully) puts her core beliefs directly into practice. Leading Vash towards a greater understanding of what it means for people to keep on living with hope ('blank tickets') for the future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[First page (left, in ch5) poses his ongoing question to himself & Rem in his dreams: in a world (his reality) so terribly dry--even people's hearts, he wonders why people would go on living. Vs the second page (right, in ch9) after his whole experience on the Steamer, where he feels he more closely understands her belief and the answer to his question.]
Because everyone's 'tickets' riding on the Steamer's seemingly doomed course could be changed and averted to a whole new destination! Through the help of everyone choosing to come together to work to survive this and make it happen. Where humanity is capable of course-correcting itself despite even the worst conditions, and that demonstration of humanity's potential very much aligns with what Rem believed in, and represents why she gave her life for the rest of humanity to even have that chance of a future too. :')
Then paralleling Vash's experience (vs one half of the Nebraskas and following his epiphany about Rem on the Steamer), Meryl gets her own arc (ch10-12, vs the other Nebraskas, among continuing themes of family) that gives her the confidence boost to choose and commit towards her own course in life--her own 'blank ticket,' with greater faith and understanding too. Without holding herself back or closing her heart off towards what matters to her either, by taking action and contributing even in small but significant ways towards the course she wants to aim for. :') (More in-depth Meryl commentary here.)
Chapter-by-chapter commentary of vol1's first arc written here, but the Sand Steamer's in-depth commentary continues below:
Ch05: 'Assault'
True to his word in ch4, when Vash promised he'd take care of the lost 'stowaway' kid who's evidently in trouble, he TAKES CARE of him by providing extra food & shelter (in first class; no more insufficient space in third; wow, sweet caretaker Vash~) Even if he has to evade those sharp suspicions from the girls about what he's sneaking around doing. :P
Vash making small talk with the boy (while having one eye winked closed) feels almost like he's fishing for info, like Vash knows more than he lets on when he mentions stuff about the possibility of a 'raid' tonight. 👀 (Pretty sure he noticed the kid had a knife the prev ch too, so the kid is...def hiding something.) Along with some philosophical musings about their origins on this planet: has it been a happy blessing or a curse? For humanity to have arrived here yet be essentially stranded on this harsh, dry place to live. While on the other hand, the kid gauges him as well, thinking Vash seems to speak very oddly about such things (and it is odd to ask a child about this; how would he even have enough life experience to know?) since the kid--Kaite/Kaito has never had to compare his life's current tough situation or circumstances beyond what he's always known on this planet. So to him, it's as if Vash were speaking much like those who first arrived here and experienced the fall more than 100yrs ago. 👀👀 As if Vash knows (or feels with longing?) there's any other (better, happier) places for humans to be, with memory of places beyond here. Suspicions suspicions! (going both ways here, and this seems to be one of the first times Vash--or at least his perspective, comes off much older/different than he appears, especially to a young kid who can sense it.) Hmmm...but it seems Vash silently noticed too late that his drink had been drugged with something that suddenly puts him to sleep. That kid is much sneakier and skilled than he lets on! (You can't even take your guard down around kids here!) Despite how much he thinks of Vash as a 'nice guy.' :'D
Unfortunately cause the kid does have a priority job to prepare for...cause he's basically the scout ready to signal for when it's time for the Bad Lads' raid to begin! (hmm~ irony after Vash had just mentioned it before) The kid's worked ahead of time to disable the Steamer's main defense room so the ship can't shoot back, by putting all their security personnel to sleep the same way as Vash--by placing that same drug to dispense thru their air vents. So then I suppose the kid considered Vash part of Steamer's security too? :'D Enough to put him to sleep like the rest. He did see how much the caravan guy (prev ch) had tried to hire Vash to join before, so perhaps the kid took the extra precaution just to be 'safe.' To keep Vash from interfering too.
Anyway, Vash may be put to sleep but the GIRLS ARE AWAKE! Startled by all the commotion. (And god, what uncomfortably tight and claustrophobic crew's beds those are! D: But bonus cute: Milly loosely ties her hair back with bows for bedtime~)
But Vash being asleep means we're shown his first dream of Rem! (Looks like the kid was nice enough not to leave Vash snoozing on the floor, and somehow hauled him up onto the bed before he left.) One of Rem's first 'cues' is to the comforting, nostalgic sound of singing, and I like how the 98 adapted a whole song that basically represents 'her.' But if you remember in the prologue ch00 about how the 'same song of humanity still sang'....well, you can probably symbolically link the two together: she and the 'song of humanity' are likely representative of one in the same. Or rather, she represents (the best of) humanity itself - to HIM (as his mom an ideal he often seeks guidance from when lost), is the feeling I get.
UUuuruhghghh;;; man, ok, the line he asks her really gets to me. About him thinking how everything in this world (that he's seen so far in his life) is so terribly dry, even people's hearts :')) (Really? even from all the other people besides her he's met? even the kind ones? or has he just been..so tired.) That he just sits here (almost reverting to a childlike mentality--in the 98 anime he often speaks this way to her using 'boku' as his pronoun), wondering with no easy answer, repeatedly asking himself--and her, the same question: how can people can still find reasons to keep on living. :'))) And GOSH, he frames this to her as if the dry world (his reality) he knows of is that dream, while his preferred 'reality' is....this safe, familiar, comforting (ideal) peaceful dreamworld based on his memories with Rem. Man;;; escaping reality vs dreams...it's like which world would he prefer to keep on living in? When the one he knows upon waking is so continually dry and hard even for him to find those reasons to keep going...just how do people do it? God, do you see what I'm getting at. ;o; (Especially after he asked Kaite, the boy, whether their arrival--or birth/fate here is anything to be happy about...man, alright, so maybe that was Vash's subtle way of asking a fellow kid how to stay happy before he asks his mom about it.)
Her only advice and guidance for him...is about her excitement knowing that their futures have no set destinations; they've been handed blank tickets at birth to go wherever and make whatever of their lives as they please. Their train tracks don't simply lead a one-way ticket to somewhere so dreary and dooming like that, nowhere that seriously fated at least. :') So in a way, that's her positive outlook on life: to ask her heart where she most wants to go, cause that choice of destination is always open to make or change no matter what happens. Their future's not fated or set in stone. So that belief keeps her hope (and sense of happy, youthful fun) going. ONLY.......her destination became......[something so earth-shattering Beyond his reach] that remembering even fragments of that almost like a dream shifting to a nightmare jolts Vash to wake up (fallen over the bed, shaken and un-grounded--or I imagine, he tried to reach forward to save her from falling, only there's nothing he could do, save for him falling back to reality) with nearly shed tears. :'))
Following THAT whole speech about unset destinations and such, there's some...interesting framing/contrast going on about how the Steamer's treasure vault can't be opened until they reach their destination, and something something...the way BDN forcibly resets their course and speed to reach their destination HIS WAY. (Wanting to speed towards a huge crash at the end to bust open that treasure.) Which in his words, "The best thing for a meager [Dark Horse: 'rotten'] life is an early, glorious death!" Where if it's not flashy, then there's no point! Well then! D: How 'bout that course of life--to go out with Style gee what would he say about Rem's... (So that's the kind of adrenaline 'ticket' BDN chooses to live by, enough that he drags everyone else into it...!)
Ch06: 'Die Hards'
We learn BDN likes gutsy people who meet his flashiest standards (enough that he kills people who're literally true to their word! or who meet their most honorable/'beautiful' end to his liking), that the boy argues he was only here to take care of the ship's defenses (putting everyone to sleep) as his deal to make way for BDN's arrival....and that the ship belongs to kid's father, so he absolutely does NOT agree with BDN's choice of 'end' destination for it!!! D: (also really cool art shift to a sketchy graphite style for how grave of a matter this is for the boy's resolute stance to not destroy the ship.) This display is absolutely not to BDN's liking, so the kid's dangerously pushing his luck towards an untimely death-beating. Kid, you're gonna get yourself killed! (even the other grunts can see that!)
And now I have no clue how Vash made it outside to climb his way up to the bridge (maybe that was the fastest route!) but he makes his cool Big Damn Hero moment arriving just in the nick of time to save the kid from BDN's killing blow, by shooting through the windshield (while hanging upside down!) and swinging in through the broken window with Style~ (also lmao he grabs some of the grunts' guns to keep those guys back using his other hand) He keeps his eyes focused on BDN from behind as he beckons the kid over to him, and BDN's sneaky enough to try a reverse shot from behind as more of his goons come in too, that I honestly can't quite tell if Vash actually reacted fast enough to dodge or feign the impact of getting shot to make a big display jumping backwards out the window to escape with the kid. :O His expression next panel (while grabbing the kid who's screaming in confusion) looks like he's fine, like Vash did it on purpose (either way, BDN looks jazzed for more), but then the two of them aren't fine flailing around outside getting pelted by incoming crashing rocks!
MEANWHILE, Meryl & Milly sneakily trap and beat up some goons in the dark to...?! 👀 (Plus, the guy's weird comment probably refers to the scent of a women's perfume or soap nearby, since all they're used to is their sweaty greasy dirty bucket suits, hah. :P)
Back 'safely' inside, Vash and the kid's interactions are so goofy, like Vash is annoyed and sassing how the kid's kind of an ungrateful brat :P (drilling him some manners to say thank you!) But when he learns the Steamer's on a crash course towards Doom, and the kid starts moping in regret for what he's done to his father's dream (selling the ship to BDN for some quick cash, for things to have ended up like this...) with some self-depreciating, shameful, almost fatalistic ways of thinking (when the kid is actually quite skilled/talented)...Vash butts in both berating and motivating the kid to keep his (their) head in the game in times like this. Cause it's not over yet (their 'destination' can still be changed!) and they've still got a job to do--to try and save/stop the ship! Schooling your spirits to stay strong (determined!) and focused on task to survive...that's basically the reassuring ~vibe~ Vash gives off here. :'3
Ch07: 'Rem'
Interesting how BDN has plans to bail early from the ship before it meets its 'end' rather than going down in a glorious bang along with everyone in it....(hmm hmm, curious Rem contrast~)
Vash makes his way thru the ship taking out goons as he goes, while the kid helps him navigate the fastest route after commandeering the ship's communications room. Eavesdropping on everything happening while relaying the safest directions to Vash thru his special pen-earring radio receiver (old lost technology!! so it seems his earring does serve a practical purpose besides cosmetic) EVENTUALLY though, it seems BDN cleverly figures all this out, enough to lead Vash right into a trap (ambush) waiting for him inside the bridge. The boy had warned Vash not to underestimate the gang--or all of humanity for that matter, as tricks and betrayals like this are all-too common. (So did the kid know this? and lead Vash right into this trap despite his trust? Or was it all BDN's doing and the kid's innocent. Either way, there's something interesting to be said here about who you can trust.)
But one of the biggest takeaways this chapter is that Vash isn't perfect. As even he can slip up to mistakenly shoot more damage than he intended, enough that he gets shot/injured too. :') But in classic Vash fashion, he's more worried about the other guy he shot (he's not about to let anyone die), rather than tending to his own wound. He chooses to take care of others before himself. But the kid berates him for this, how this kind of irrational 'hero' behavior is only going to get himself killed if he keeps this up.
BUT STILL, even if Vash concedes he looks rather foolish/pathetic at this stuff (hmmm those self-pity/depreciation vibes...) he stresses he still does all this (protects life) as a promise to Rem. It's because of her that anyone on this planet is still alive, so he's going to do everything in his power to ensure her legacy faithfully lives on too. (So her sacrifice for humanity isn't in vain...) That even if mistakes happen, you can still turn things around and start over again to change the course (destination) of your life. Reiterating Rem's very same words/advice to him we saw from his dreams--preaching her belief like a mantra to call forth morale: their 'tickets to the future are always blank.'
Ch08: 'Duelists'
I see this is where Vash's coat gets pelted full of bullet holes! (tattered coat tail aesthetic incoming~) Standing firm in the face of the showering onslaught. The boy gets caught too (so looks like yeah, his directions to Vash were innocent) that BDN commends how far their little ragtag team's gotten, but....tsk tsk "reality isn't so beautiful." OHHHHHH---god, cause remember the whole dreams vs reality thing back with Rem? About which one's idealistic and beautiful vs the one that's terribly harsh and dry?? Aaaa, cause Vash already knows (and feels) living this harsh 'reality' at his core, despite how much he chooses to believe in Rem's dreams too. :')) So he can't be about to die here, is he!?
But what's this? Just when you might've forgotten about the girls, SURPRISE!! Once again they come as (disguised) reinforcements to Vash's aid! 8'D Derringer Meryl & Stungun Milly to his rescue again~ (Just like in the first arc!) Breaking the tension. Hah, it's funny how Meryl 'reminds' Vash to be his 'kind, responsible, peace-loving' adult self again :P to focus his timely priority on stopping the ship. Like she's the one nagging him this time to keep his head in the game, while also announcing his title to everyone else in the entire room. (?! whoa was that wise? now especially BDN knows who he is.)
Curiously, the only thing BDN wants to confirm about him is whether Vash is truly the one responsible for July's destruction, and if so, how did he manage that feat without leaving any bodies/corpses behind? (Oho, and Vash wonders if he's asking for the sake of any lost family...interesting empathetic approach. 👀) But here we see that Vash doesn't know, cause he doesn't remember anything (oop, amnesia~) aside from the debris... Our mysteries still stand. But I like how BDN kinda...takes this as a word of honor, man-to-man kinda deal, promising Vash's request to stop the ship if Vash wins their duel....right outside on the deck!
~Fancy moves~ though, because upon the start of the coin toss, Vash moves behind some flying rocks to shoot and destroy BDN's hidden shoulder guns (his dynamos)...only, ulp! That movement only rips open Vash's previous gut wound. Which BDN notices. Enough that he shoots away any more rubble from crushing Vash (sparing him) as he collapses. Apparently, Vash risking it all even while not at full strength, was enough for BDN to appreciate and honorably concede defeat. Vash's 'flashiness' wins BDN's approval~ ...But the accelerating and dangerously overheating ship still needs to be stopped!!! D:
Ch09: 'Between Wasteland and Sky'
lmao at Meryl grumbling she wants some extra indulgent job compensation to buy herself a fancy prada purse after all this trouble~ ...To listing more and more fancy indulgent things as their situation just goes from bad to worse. :'D IF they can make it out of here alive in one piece without the ship exploding!!! Hah, so shall the ship explode first or fall & crash into the upcoming ravine....even those stakes make Vash's gut-wound hurt all over again~ :P He jokes, he jokes, but still...his wounds close up pretty fast without any obvious...patching up required, even the boy notes that's kinda odd--is Vash really ok? 👀
Still, the Steamer has problems that need to be resolved in two places for stopping it to effectively work. (Basically manually releasing the pressure valve for the brakes, and containing/cutting off the engine's power from overloading the Plant.) The boy wants to take responsibility for allowing this--and the deaths of the ship's crew on his hands, to happen (interestingly, Vash watches all this silently with a knowing look 👀) so even alongside the distrustful crew, the boy's off to take care of one problem the only way he can, while Vash is off to 'babysit' an unruly/selfish 'little girl' from throwing an explosive tantrum~
God, we see some our first up-close Plant fuckery explained--as in a power plant (not leafy garden variety plant, although geo-plants that make greenery for terraforming are a variety shown later in this volume) much like a nuclear reactor or generator, that's able to create things (energy, resources, matter) in a way that surpasses all known physical law. But they're a species of organic creature, harnessed as lost technology, such that no one really understands how they work, and the biggest spooky thing is how they resemble 'the messengers of god' 👀👀 like biblical angels taking feminine form in full body horror glory, while humans are basically co-dependent on these mysterious Plants to even survive on this planet! Whew!
Anyway Vash looks resolutely and suspiciously calm despite all the screaming noise and imminent, critical danger...👀 and also interestingly yes, he refers to the Plant as a 'her' - as a sister with personhood (opposed to an 'it') he treats just as gently as he would any other human in pain or distress. :')) I remember when I first read this part, I was so curiously, morbidly spooked and hooked like 👀👀👀 wondering what in the world Vash even is. What is he even doing!!! Especially with the teasing flare of wings like he's an angel, able to calm down and resonate with such a creature in ways beyond our understanding~ He said he could only 'hold' her for another 4mins, which looks to be temporarily suspending both their heartbeats & breathing rates in tune, almost like within in a trance.
But even with the Plant contained and the brakes finally engaged, it might not be enough to stop in time! GUESS WHO comes in clutch keeping his promise to Vash: BDN himself, ramming his car into the side of the Steamer's hull, to smash it into the side of the canyon just in time before falling off the cliff. So interestingly, all 3 guys--the kid (who almost burned himself), Vash (stopped his heart to contain a nuclear meltdown), and BDN (willingly crashed his car) all made some bold, risky, self-sacrifice plays to cooperatively bring the ship to a halt. :'D (In Stampede, it took the 3 combined roles of Vash, Meryl, and Wolfwood staying on board with some risky moves to stop the ship together too.) Woohoo!! Their course's final destination had been changed~
Ah! Now just how sweet and symbolically fitting it is, that the ending notes to this whole disaster close off with Rem's song. :')) Sung under a wide open sky... Somehow, even the young boy knows of it, that hearing it again moves Vash to tears. Cause he feels he more closely understands her core belief now, about what it means for people to go on living with hope for the future, after seeing it directly play out (and succeed) from this whole experience. Their 'tickets' on the Steamer's doomed course could be changed, with the help of people choosing to come together and work to survive this. :') Humanity can do it, and Rem traded her life believing that they could, for the chance that humanity could even have that hopeful 'blank ticket' for the future too. And I feel I better understand now, the significance of Rem being introduced in this arc that metaphorically puts her beliefs into practice. So thank you Sand Steamer arc for showing us and Vash more of the way!
[The next arc with the geo-plant mission focuses on Meryl--paralleling Vash, choosing to lead her own 'blank ticket' course in life with greater hope & confidence too! Continued here.]

i was supposed to make this post last week but whateverrr.
anywayss, while i was having my break from tumblr, i was doing my usual WoW mount farming stuff, and i’d recently started doing the throne of thunder raid since it has 2 mounts in it to farm, and i’d gotten the ashes of al’ar mount recently and was in need of a new raid to do. the first day of the second week of farming the raid, a.k.a my 8th attempt, one of the mounts drops: the spawn of horridon, a cool triceratops mount.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was a little bit shocked because I’d barely just started farming this raid a week ago and the spawn of horridon has a pretty low drop rate, but i also have pretty incredible luck when it comes to mount farming, so it just gave me a bit of an ego boost. i continued doing the raid, hoping that maybe the other mount further in the raid would drop too on the same day (spoiler alert, it didn’t).
but the twist comes 10 minutes later, when i decided to hop on a completely different character so that i could do the raid again (can only do the raid once a week per character, so having a bunch of alts makes things a little easier), since i’d not done it on my other characters that week, and i was a bit behind on schedule.
to my complete and utter fucking shock, the spawn of horridon drops AGAIN. just 10 fucking minutes later after having dropped for me the first time.
Tumblr media
for you to understand how fucking insane that is: based on the numbers on wowhead, the spawn of horridon mount has something like a 1-2% chance of dropping every single time horridon is killed. for it to drop SO early in my farming of this raid (literally only on my 8th attempt) and for it to drop TWICE within 10 fucking minutes is literally bonkers insane in the membrane type shit.
Tumblr media
(my friend’s comment on my insane luck)
I was making this post on google docs, and had it basically “finished” for quite a few days and was going to post it when i came back from tumblr, but as it turned out, my luck didn’t end at the spawn of horridon dropping twice in one day. At the end of the week, on approximately my 14th attempt doing the throne of thunder raid, the second (and the last) mount in the raid, the Clutch of Ji’kun, dropped for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both of these mounts have a 1-2% drop rate, and for me to only need to farm the throne of thunder for exactly two weeks before i got them both is genuinely fucking insane. this is the most bonkers luck i’ve ever had in my life.
Tumblr media
(my friends comment about my insane luck. again. lmfao)
the same friend then went on to ask me to bless their adventures in the emerald dream, as they were hoping for a mount to drop. I blessed their adventures like I was some sort of fucking priest, and they DID manage to get one of the emerald dream mounts to drop, further solidifying for me that my luck is supernatural or eldritch.
so basically, if you are a WoW player with insanely bad luck in getting mounts or items to drop, it might personally be my fault, as i seem to suck all the bad luck away from everyone else with my intense determination, unbridled optimism, and very cute personality. i would like to atone for my sins, so if you would like a major boost in luck (on whatever it is you need luck on, doesn't even need to be WoW related lmfao), let me know and i will personally bless you with a portion of my power. i’m not a priest or anything i’m just handing down luck to anyone who needs it. i am 100% serious and i’m not joking. luck is my superpower bitch.

Entropy's guide to Final Fantasy XIV
Just a handy dandy little guide for no reason because you literally don't need a guide to play the game and be happy but I keep seeing misconceptions about it and they're driving me UP THE GODS BE DAMNED WALL so here we ARE
Tumblr media
FINAL FANTASY XIV WAS ORIGINALLY RELEASED IN 2010
AND IT SUCKED
There's a ton of different series based on the absolute shenanigry that was involved in FFXIV 1.x but the important part is that most of the development team were either fired or moved to other departments and were replaced by the current Producer; Yoshi-P and his team. They tried rehabilitating the game as is but it became increasingly apparent they were going to have to do something drastic so they shut the game down and completely redid it. Keeping in mind that Square Enix was not doing well financially at the time, this means their budget was not very big and it shows from time to time.
2.x otherwise known as A Realm Reborn, is a completely redone base game. Over the past couple of years the devs have done a lot to improve the base game for longevity reasons but it's still kind of awkward and a bit of a slog. Be patient, dick around, honestly I do recommend playing around on the Free Trial unless you know you're going to be playing awhile because it isn't time gated so you can go at your own pace (You just can't exceed a certain level or quest at the end of the first expac; Heavensward, and you have a TON of content you can access despite being a trial.)
Still a lot of people just do not like ARR (or subsequently the expac Stormblood) and this brings me to my next point
2. THERE ARE "JUMP BOOSTS" SOLD IN THE STORE TO SKIP STORY AND CLASS LEVELS
If you're new to the game dO 👏 NOT 👏 FUCKING 👏 USE 👏THESE 👏!!! Even if you aren't interested in the story, the game is training you for the mechanics that come in later in the game.
You'll see it time and again where a WoW streamer or someone will come in and try FFXIV but they'll treat it like their old mmo and say it's a terrible game but you'll watch their streams and they're standing in twelve AOEs and refusing to do mechanics shouting about the healers being terrible. The game is SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED so that you have to do mechanics and not stand in shit. If you get one hit by a AoE Marker in end game every other person was trained to avoid from the beginning of the game, idk what you want them to do tbqh!!!
Tumblr media
3. AT THE END OF THE DAY FFXIV IS A FINAL FANTASY GAME
The focus of this game is story and will always be story. Unlike western games that all decided cutscenes were bad for some reason, you will literally be inundated with them. Not all of them are voiced. That is a lot of reading. Pace yourself.
There are different story arcs (expansions) but the story of Final Fantasy XIV is one continuous story from beginning to end and it references past events all the time because it's still relevant. The devs try really hard to make sure old unexplained questions get addressed and their attention to detail is pretty great. We literally just had one of our mysteries of base game explained but also maybe with a tie in for future content.
FFXIV has been described as being one of the best single player MMO experiences and that's getting truer all the time. Devs are only a couple dungeons away from having made every single dungeon you are required to do for story available to complete using NPC teammates instead of real people.*
Our Raids have story and cutscenes. Our non required dungeons got story and cutscenes. If you're not interested in story you probably shouldn't be playing this game. We do have a raiding scene and FFXIV has probably one of the lowest entries into raiding so it's easy to get into but it's not going to be the WoW Raiding scene other people are used to.
Also stop complaining about the unskippable cutscenes that show up in very select dungeons. They are Like That™ because old players used to kick new players for trying to watch them because they're trying to speedrun. It's a thing we all gotta struggle through because of people without empathy.
If you don't have time for things to go bad, don't run that content.
*this doesn't include Trials which are big boss fights but when you realize NPCs can't do more than one (1) mechanic at a time you begin to realize why there's exactly one trial they can do in the entire goddamn game.
4. WESTERN AND ASIAN FANTASY ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS
I keep seeing people scoff at Asian fantasy because it's not what they're used to in fantasy like GoT or tES but idek why they're compared?? Final Fantasy is inspired by dungeons & dragons, sure, but it's also inspired by shit like
S T A R W A R S
Tumblr media
I'm not even remotely joking about that. Once you realize that it becomes more apparent the more you look. 80s Star Wars was HUGE in Japan. As my sibling says, it's not really a Final Fantasy game unless you end up in space for some reason.
This is ofc not even mentioning that the values and cultural infuences of different European countries tend to be different from one another let alone fucking JAPAN at the other end of the world.
Some weird and wild shit happens in the game that you wouldn't see in your typical Western fantasy stories but to be quite honest some of the complaints I see against Asian anything is quite frankly Racist. (If you have had the notion that Asian things are just worse than Western stuff then I may have news for you!) I would just try and come at it thinking it's an entirely different genre than try and force it to be something it just isn't nor should be.
Tumblr media
I might add more to this as the salt takes me but!! I've said my piece... for now.

Today is a good day for slaughter
Summary: Hebaron wants blood. But wine is good too.
Inspo: I remember reading a part where Sir Nirta mentioned that he would hold a loud and noisy training session below Ruth's tower when they get back from a raid. (My first attempt on writing for UTOT. Came across this book from the instagram ad and now I'm hooked! Wished more people wrote about Hebaron): )
~~~ sfv ~~~
"RRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" the knight roared from the bottom of the stairs. Apparently, the raging knight's hair wasn't bright enough, and fire was needed to emphasize his striking orange aura. His thumping footsteps got louder fast and his sabatons amplified the vibrations on the floor as he charged up the tower.
"I'm going to die here." a small whisper left the mage's lips.
"Today is a good day for slaughter." The knight snarled as he kicked the door open, only to reveal a petrified lady shaking like a leaf.
"My lady." Hebaron stood aloof, and took a quick deep breath. "Please stop hiding that son of a gun from me." Hebaron grunted with much restrain, his eyes darting across the wretched room. Piles and pyramids of dusty books, fallen and scattered across the room, with close to no lighting despite the high noon. Makes one wonder how does reading even take place in a room like this. "He has to die right here, right now." Hebaron pointed at his burnt carrot top in a rancorous manner while trying his best not to glare and curse at the Lady of Anatol.
"B-b-but.." Maxi stuttered as she pulled on the sleeves of her dress out of nervousness. 'H-H-How ca-n-n-n I ha-a-and Ruth-h ov-ver when I'm-m the o-one who-o se-t-t you-ur ha-air on f-f-fir-re?' Maxi was crying in her thoughts. 'NO NO! I AA-CCI-IDENTALLY s-s-set yo-our hair-r-r on-n f-fi-ire. Please don't kill me-e.' Maxi shut her eyes tightly, wishing her husband would just burst in at any moment to save her from his friend's wrath.
Earlier that morning..
~~~
"No, manipulating elemental mana is far too advanced for you." Ruth shook his head, scanning about the floor hastily. "But I can h-h-heal now, and and and.. I can c-create shields too! Please-e let me t-try, Ruth!" Maxi's dark desires, to become a sorceresses parallel to Princess Agnes started leaking out shamelessly. But her pleas drowned before they could float, as the unperturbed wizard found the perfect book as his blanket for his day nap.
"You may dismiss yourself my student." Ruth waved his hands at Maxi, signalling her to leave. " Thanks to Sir Nirta's deep compassion for my ears, I need to prepare myself for a long shift at the infirmary tonight." Ruth yawned as he snugged into the books, his white hair and brownish garments blended in seamlessly with the room.
Unwilling to give up, Maxi sat down angrily on the study room's floor, determined to wait for Ruth's awakening for another lesson. She grabbed a nearby book and started reading, lying down on the floor in many positions. Grabbing a book as her pillow, she laid on the floor and mimicked Ruth's way of sleeping.
"How is this even comfortable? He's worse than Riftan. How much does one have to love the smell of old musky books to sleep well in them?" Maxi scrunched her nose as she swept off all the books on her body. Resting her small torso on the wall, Maxi sat up and sighed. "When will I e-ever be ready to f-fight beside Riftan?"
"I-is my mana still not s-strong enoug-gh-h?" Maxi brooded over her disappointment whilst fidgeting with the mana stone in her pocket. She propped her lady legs up with a thick book close by, and played around with her mana in that small corner of the room. A zap cackled along her fingertips as she concentrated on the fire spell Ruth once demonstrated in the library. "Wow" Maxi whispered exultingly. Boosted with confidence, Maxi walked towards the window and got behind the curtains.
'Ruth says that mana concentration will be better in places where the elements are abundant.' Maxi thought to herself as she started practicing at the window. The little zap transmogrified into a small fume as she leaned against the window ledge, being extra careful not to draw the curtains. Her curiosity lead her to more practicing and after a few more turns, she managed to juggle a ball of fire in her palms. Maxi beamed as she looked down, her eyes fixated at a certain knight who was training below Ruth's tower.
'One day, one day I can go with you too. Then we'll never have to be alone.' Her heart warmed at the thought of staying by Riftan's side, and as if hit by cupid's arrow, Riftan looked up and saw Maxi at the window.
She waved excitedly and showed him her new trick. Riftan was instantly flummoxed and almost took a hit from his sparing partner. Getting the hint, Maxi abruptly stopped juggling and dropped the fire ball, which landed on the edge of Sir Hebaron's head, causing the boisterous knight to storm up.
~~~
H-how about-t I heal your hair, S-S-Sir Nir-t-ta?" Maxi suggested, not daring to look up at his face. 'Ohh-h g-god, I mus-st sou-u-und stupid to h-him. How do I even h-h-heal ha-air?' Maxi wished she could take back her words, at wit's end she started trembling even more and took a peek at Ruth. 'How c-can he sl-leep so s-s-soundly afte-er that r-rukus?!' Maxi shouted in her head.
A dark figure loomed over her, totally blocking out her vision in the dimly lit room. Maxi held her breath, but decided to confess her crimes and forced her face to look up. Her eyes still shut from fear, she pried a peek at the person in front of her.
"What are you doing?" Riftan frowned, looking down, squeezing Maxi's cheeks with his fingers. "I… I t-thought you w-ere S-Sir Heb-a-aron. And-d he was y-yelling an-n-d.." Maxi muttered diffidently, pulling Riftan closer to her, hinting for protection against the vice commander. "I.. I acc-cidentally d-drop-ped the f-fire b-ba-ll.. And-d-d" her soft voice trailed off as she pulled on Riftan's tunic tightly. "He's going-g t-t-to kill m-me!" Maxi whispered loudly.
"You .. What?!" Hebaron squalled, his large eyes widened scarily whilst he subconsciously walked towards Maxi, knocking into an already shaky book pyramid.
The tumbling of books finally woke Ruth, groaning as he stretched and yawned nonchalantly, unaware of his prior death sentence by an unhinged Sir Hebaron.
"Hebaron." Riftan stood firmly between his friend and his wife, his hand on Hebaron's shoulders were harshly swept off by the burnt knight. Maxi squirmed behind Riftan as thoughts raced through her head, 'R-R-Riftan is not-t ca-alling him N-Nirta. I don't-t-t w-want to di-e-e.'
"She's my wife. I can't just stand and do nothing." Riftan sighed at a displeased Hebaron. "Riftan Calypse. I am your comrade for 14! LOOK AT MY HAIR!" Sir Hebaron spluttered. "It'll grow back in a week." Riftan tittered. Hebaron with his burnt hair was quite a sight to behold. "A dozen kegs of wine came in this morning. Take them while your hair grows."
Raising his eye, Hebaron pondered on the offer. "Ulsin gets my shifts while it grows back?" In defeat, Riftan nodded as he pushed Maxi behind him, shielding her from Hebaron's anger.
Seeing how guilty the Lady was for this mishap, Hebaron acquiesced. "Well then, my Lady. I shall accept the kegs and off-duties as compensation for MY HAIR." Extremely satisfied that he dragged Uslin down with him, Hebaron left the room, shuffling his hair as he bolt down the stairs for his mid-noon drink. Trying to take advantage of the momentum, Ruth joined in swiftly. "And I am your wizard for almost 20. What will I get?" "Ulsin's shift on the walls." Riftan growled. "Ugh, just get out." Ruth grouched and Maxi swear she saw his eyes rolled back to the moon and back as he pushed them out to continue his lazy mid-noon nap.
As they walk down the stairs, Riftan softly asked, "If you thought I was Nirta, why did you close your eyes when you looked up, like you're waiting for a kiss from him?" Jealously filled the air as the Lord and Lady of Anatol returned to their chambers.
my priest said i was the coolest tonight
she's really nice to me
She's 43! haha
i am going to be sad when the raid team takes a month break
i'm not really sure if i will get to spend any time with her during that period
there's a part of me that feels so foolish for feeling such affection toward her because she's just a wow colleague who is married with a kid and all that
but i feel happy being able to like engage with like one of my peak interests with someone who is so nice to me
i have other closer friends i play wow with but a really sweet voice goes a very long way lol
it's honestly just a really innocent and like meaningless kind of "crush" anyway
tonight i was working really really hard to like keep her alive and protect her.
she was having a bit of a hard time because we ran with minimal healers and everyone needed to basically play as perfect as possible
lol i did fail a couple of times to keep her up but i also saved her at like single digit hp several times
There's something about that which makes me feel really alive
i guess it is the only context where i know i can protect someone
i can be the one who can save and help someone.
Where they can depend on me
There's someone i would rather be spending more of my time with but that's a puzzle i don't have the solution for
So for now i can just silently rizz up some nice lady with healing a damage boosts and stuff just to have a pleasant few hours away from my normal depression fog filled life
Chapter 4 writing breakdown
Tumblr media
I'll post a bit about my writing choices of the latest Puffer and Clarissa chapter. Read more if you’re interested.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A fun little smash cut to show how much of a terrible parent Sharon is. Her explanation does provide some reason for this: She assumes everyone is just like her. Granted, if she didn't go around raiding villages with her robots, such animosity probably wouldn't exist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wanted to wait a good while until I revealed the state of the world and what exactly is going on with it. Since all these characters have lived here all their lives there's no reason for them to exposit such info unless they saw something that would prompt that conversation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wanted to wait a good while until I revealed the state of the world and what exactly is going on with it. Since all these characters have lived here all their lives there's no reason for them to exposit such info unless they saw something that would prompt that conversation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a result of being raised by her genius mom, Puffer knows the scientific names of lots of animals. ALSO a result of her mom-- she has no self-confidence, despite obviously being intelligent and strong from everyone else's perspective.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the beginning, Killer Whale doesn't have a lot of scenes to show his personality. With this fake-out where he pretends to have a sense of honor for 5 seconds, it's pretty clear he's just a sadist who really revels in his work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Puffer and Clarissa back in a position of relative safety, they go back to arguing. But a certain submarine puts an end to that. Also you can see here that Puffer is not exactly skilled at delivering sick burns, because the only person she usually talks to is Sharon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Killer Whale's first scene in the story features him getting beaten by Sharon. But Sharon herself is a dangerous opponent. Against ordinary people, the reader can see he's actually very threatening. Also, murder being his first option shows that he is not one for negotiation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
...But despite him being a murderer, he's also a little bit funny, due to how committed to his persona he is. The fact that orcas were attacking ships in real life as this chapter went up was interesting, haha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Puffer is really naive. Being raised by Sharon will do that to you. Clarissa is more or a people person and can tell Killer Whale is joking. She also uses Puffer's idolization of her mom to boost her self-esteem some. So she's good at talking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After fighting Killer Whale decently, Puffer gets enough confidence to think up a plan. Side note- Killer Whale manipulating wildlife to attack people for him shows a lot about Lord Jel's army. Everything is a tool for them to either use or discard.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Puffer actually manages to do some very successful trash talk here. So good that Killer Whale gets PTSD from being bullied by Sharon when they were on the same team. Impressive stuff.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A lot of readers were like "wow they sure became close real fast" but that wasn't my intention here. Puffer is not mourning Clarissa so much as she is mourning her self-image. In Puffer's mind, coming up with a plan only to believe she screwed it up does confirm a lot of what Sharon thinks of her. It's like the rug got yanked out from under her.
Tumblr media
And with this final page, the townspeople call Puffer a hero. Despite working under her mom her whole life and believing in her cause, the first time she gets called a hero is when she's here with Clarissa. What will this mean? Wait for the next chapter to find out. That's all!
Mari's NOT SO LAST MINUTE (wow) Tera Raid Guide #5 - Rillaboom
It's Bellibolt again. I wanted to be more creative but it works and it recycles an old pokémon, so why change? Also busy
It's a bit ~close~ (you need not lose time selecting your moves and it requires a bit of NPC hunting) so if I have time in the next days I'll see if there's something better. In the meantime, reminder that I'll let anyone borrow my own pokémon if you can't train your own (need Pokémon Home)
Tumblr media
Bellibolt l.100
Tera type: Electric
Ability: Electromorphosis
Item: Magnet
Nature: Modest/Quiet
IVs: max HP, def, sp.atk, sp.def
EVs: 252 sp.atk, 252 def, 4 HP
Moveset:
-Acid Spray (TM)
-Parabolic Charge (egg move)
-Electric Terrain (level up) / Reflect (TM)
- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If it looks familiar, it's because it is the same Bellibolt from the Walking Wake/Iron Leaves guide, literally just took it out of the box and tried it and it worked. Just swapped Light Screen with Electric Terrain.
Usage:
Rillaboom has mostly physical attacks + one special move (Boomburst)(not so dangerous, low special attack). Wipes your stat modifications the turn after his shield went up, wipes his own the turn after the shield went down.
The biggest threat is the fact that he has TWO (2) attack-boosting moves, Growth and Bulk Up. By the end of the fight he'll have them used ~4 times... which brings us to the important part of the fight
RESET FOR THE RIGHT NPC ALLIES
-favour pokémon with the ability INTIMIDATE. One is necessary and technically sufficient, two is ideal, three is an unicorn but if it happens it's good! (They are: Tauros, Staraptor, Arcanine)
-optional: Dudunsparce, Umbreon and Drifblim can apply paralysis/burn status and it helps, either with the occasional free turn or the very welcome attack debuff. In theory Sylveon has Charm but I can't recall seeing it use it...? If you got an Intimidate mon but none of these, it should work just fine, try your luck.
-IMPORTANT if you get Arboliva RUN AWAY and retry. Rillaboom already generates Grassy Terrain on turn one making his grass type move the most dangerous, no need to prolong that suffering for the rest of the fight.
What you're gonna do is: Electric Terrain on turn one (gets rid of the Grassy Terrain, making Drum Beating weaker and helping with at least one Parabolic Charge's damage) OR Reflect (protects against all physical moves but no offensive boost for you). Only use one or the other, don't waste turns in my experience Electric Terrain worked better but maybe it's just me.
Then the usual 3x Acid Spray - you will die in the middle, after the first or second Acid Spray, don't panic. IMPORTANT if you manage to get all 3 done before dying, but end up with less than half life, DO NOT TERASTALLIZE. You'll just die the next turn and lose your terastal. Rillaboom is very fast, if your Bellibolt's nature is Quiet his speed is more than double yours, don't think you can heal at this point! Let yourself faint.
Terastallize when you're sure you'll survive, and go with the 2-3 Parabolic Charges that you need to break the shield.
Now, this point is a bit weird, there's a chance of the game bugging a bit with the order of action but use either Acid Spray or Parabolic Charge. [Technical rant here: in theory Acid Spray is the one you should select - Rillaboom will get rid of his own stat debuffs before you attack, meaning that his special defense goes back up to neutral again and you start getting it down on the same turn, but sometimes for some reason you attack first and he resets his stats after, and if he attacks on the same turn you find yourself with less HP on Bellibolt, and neutral special defense on Rillaboom, it's weird. Keep an eye on what happens during the previous turns and act accordingly I guess.]
In any case, the post-shield fight will have you alternating Acid Spray - Parabolic Charge - Acid Spray - Parabolic Charge, etc. Rillaboom's attack will likely be at +3 at this point, so you can only really spare one turn at a time to mess with stats before you need to heal. Two Acid Sprays should be enough, but if you have the time and the life you can use it a third time. Much more likely that you'll only have the time to do that only twice though, and then finish with 1-3 Parabolic Charges, it should hit hard enough by then.
TL;DR: Electric Terrain/Reflect on turn 1, Acid Spray x3, die and resurrect anytime during the Acid Sprays, terastallize, Parabolic Charge until end of the shield, Acid Spray > Parabolic Charge > Acid Spray > Parabolic Charge > Parabolic Charge spam
Pros:
-it's literally a returning build. Reduce Reuse Recycle!
-no transfer required from other games
-immune to the secondary effect of Body Slam (paralysis)
-idk check the last time's pros
Cons:
-bit slow, bit too close with the time limit
-heavily dependent on NPCs 😞 sorry
Tumblr media
^this attempt was won, just took a screen before the last attack to show how close it was. Also notice that I have Light Screen instead of Reflect, lol! I used Electric Terrain that time, instead.
Gladiatorboost.com Celebrates Two Years By Answering Some Common Questions
Tumblr media
The team at Gladiatorboost.com has a lot to celebrate. It is just over 2 years since this team started to deliver their premium service from their office in the UK to players who are devoted to WoW. While many businesses struggle to keep their doors open in the first year of their existence, this team has not only survived but thrived. They’ve increased their team of professional and highly skilled players to more than 150. These are the talent that offered the more than 2,000 happy clients they could assist with excellent service. In addition to these successes, they’ve also been able to add several new additions to the range of services they have to offer. These services include Mythic+ Boost and the Vault of the Incarnates Boost.
As part of their birthday celebrations, the team offered to answer some of the most asked questions and the topic they addressed was the questions concerning the latter, the Vault of the Incarnates Boost. The first question many new customers have is what will happen once they’ve made their purchase. Regardless of what boost you are investing in the team will always add you to a Discord platform as soon as that you’ve checked out from the purchase. On Discord, they will agree with the client on the best ETA to proceed with the boost. The platform serves to ensure easy communication and provide clients with the necessary means to reach out to the team when they want to do so.
Another commonly asked question is concerned with security. The team considers both client security and privacy as extremely important and they will always take the necessary steps to ensure clients and their accounts remain secure during the entire session. They also rely on VPNs to ensure your account remains anonymous. In addition to this, they use HWID tools that help to prevent any flagups. Yet, they do warn that the risk is always higher when it comes to piloted Vault of the Incarnates, but they still take every possible preventative action to ensure clients remain secure and their success rate in achieving this is simply outstanding.
Some players want to know if they can log into their accounts while the professional booster is busy on their accounts. The team strongly advise that you don’t. This can create the kind of situation that might result in unnecessary concerns and as they do remain in constant communication with their clients throughout the entire process there is no need to log in while the boost is still going on.
Would you be able to know who is boosting your account? Not that it matters as every player on the team has a proven track record of outstanding success in the field. However, this is not possible as the team have a set roster in place and every roster consist of players of different ratings. Thus, regardless of who takes your game to the next level, you can be sure that it is an outstanding player who is well experienced as a tournament competitor. A concern that many clients have is what they should do when someone from in-game writes them while the boost is taking place. The team states that their boosters will never respond to anyone writing to you. That is just simply company policy and something they avoid.
Lastly, the question came up whether the team offers any refunds. While this seldom happens, they are more than willing to do so in the case that their players couldn’t complete the boost due to complications on their side. These are the kind of concerns their team addressed as part of their birthday celebrations and to instil even more trust in the solutions they have to offer.
Very well. In WoW a “buff” is some kind of bonus/stat increase that you can gain. Most buffs are like a spell some other player character casts on you and give small bonuses that definitely help but aren’t a super huge deal.
However, in WoW Classic, which is a re-released version of the game exactly as it was waaaaay back in 2004 because people don’t want to play the modern version of the MMO anymore and are much more interested in the old version, there are some buffs that are gained from specific sources around the world that confer gigantic bonuses like +15% to all stats, which is a boost equivalent to stepping into the accelerator in SP.
So people at max level pushing difficult content and very strong bosses will try to get all the world buffs stacked on their character at the same time (each one lasts like 2-3 hours and it takes about an hour to get them all) and then go do things like raids (very hard 40-person team content) which are much easier with all world buffs
This never happened back in 2004, but when WoW Classic was opened up (in 2019) players know the game and its technical details inside and out and have better communication, so it’s now the game meta pretty much
And Lassie
These buffs can be instantly removed by some random fucker from the opposite faction (hostile) casting an instant-cast dispel on you
So there are griefers who will deliberately ambush players just to dispel their world buffs, just for the warped joy of kicking over the sandcastle
Like there’s nothing you can do except to not be there to get dispelled, all they have to do is target you and press one button, you can’t dodge in WoW (although 1/100 you might be able to see them and one-shot them before they can dispel you, but that’s very hard to do unless you manage to see them first)
The levels of rage resulting from this were incandescent like burning thermite
Absolutely sublime
Anyway this is one of many unintended consequences of letting 2020 players loose on a 2004 game and expecting them not to find weapons-grade exploits
This sounds absolutely chaotic and also very funny
Pokemon Scarlet Playthrough part 11: Getting Schooled
Playthrough Masterlist
So I decided before going north to evolve some Pokemon to fill out my dex and then go to school for classes again. For the most part the evolving went well, but evolving Pawmo was a tedious nightmare. So yeah then I went to school again to catch up on my classes.
Art 3: He just explained that tera types can be used to avoid a Pokemon's normal weakness and that you can change the Tera type at the treasure eatery. Also he goes on a tangent about the mystery of snowflakes looking alike. I'm pretty sure it's a physics thing, Hassel.
Art Midterm: it's just a quiz, a very basic quiz for children. I got some exp candy though for passing.
Art 4: oooo grass gym leader is here! wow, these two are close. He asked if you can guess what mood he was in when he made his statue, and I'm like, idk??? "Surrendering" sounds sad though. He's like "no! You're wrong!". Proceeds to describe his mood.. which sounds like he was sad (in very simple terms).
Anyway Brass is like "Don't get too caught up in what sells, make what you want to make." A nice message, although it's lacking in the nuance of harsh reality, but what can you expect from a kid' game. It was funny when Hassel started bawling from Brass's story of his art journey.
Art 5: He tells the class about the 10 sights of Paldea, I haven't been to all of them, obviously. But I've been to a fair few, I do want to find them all though.
Battle Studies 3: Dendra talks about Tera Shields in Tera Raid battles, I don't think I remember ever seeing one, maybe they only show up in higher difficulties?
Battle Studies Midterm: Very easy, simple questions. Asking about Dendra's favorite type gave me a slight pause, but I remembered it.
Battle Studies 4: Stuff about the Let's Go feature and auto battles.
Battle Studies 5: Dendra talks about the TM making machines. Nothing exciting except for mentioned that there have been issues of people hacking to get LP.
I think this raises up an issue that purely digital currently like LP would have, hacking. I think the existence of LP as a currency is kind of bizarre. Because it's like there are two separate currencies of equal value, why not just have one? Also the LP that Penny gives me when I beat up Team Star might be hacked, she is a hacker after all. I might be using illegal money.
Math 3: A random thought that popped into my head, wouldn't it be funny if the History Teacher was the one named Tyme? and not the Math one? Puns are good, if this was Ace Attorney, I'd be the History Teacher.
Anyway... teach is like "Yall like horoscopes?" me: "no." Anyway she talks about Critical Hits. I didn't know that they were 1 in 24 normally, but I don't care too much about that. Challenge runners might tho. But yeah, Tyme, I am aware that there is a lot of probability in Pokemon battles.
Math Midterm: As always, these are pretty easy. Even the math one isn't too bad.
Math 4: Just because I passed your class doesn't mean I like numbers, ma'am. She talks about stat boosts in battle. Once again I am bested by math, even in a kids game. I am terrible with percentages.
Math 5: oh god, it's percentages again. Nevermind, she's just talking about accuracy. I personally prefer more accurate moves. Amusing to hear that people debate in the Pokemon world about which moves are better. I mean, it makes sense but it's still amusing.
Home Ec 3: He just talks about PP.
Home Ec Midterm: you know how it goes easy. Except for a weird question about what affects meal powers. I don't think it makes sense that the color of utensils or the amount of people eating should affect it.
Home Ec 4: talking about multiple people making a long sandwich reminds me of this post I saw once. Basically someone had a tradition with their family of making a ridiculously long sub sandwich and then cutting it into people's individual pieces. It also amuses me that it was Arven asking for advice. I imagine Arven really likes this class.
Home Ec 5: He talks about washing your Pokemon during picnics. He mentions there are areas where Pokemon don't like to be washed, brings to mind fire types with fire-y areas on their body. And that there Pokemon who don't like being washed at all, again fire types come to mind, as to ground and rock. Those Pokemon have a reason to avoid water, even if it's not reflected in gameplay.
Biology 3: Apparently Jacq and Clevell used to work together before getting into education. I wonder where they used to work together. Anyway he's just talking about ways to make it easier to catch Pokemon. Nothing I don't already know.
Biology Midterm: easy quiz. The extra question he tacked onto the end was cute. Yes the Pokedex is easy to use, but I wish it had filters.
Biology 4: He talks about Pokemon Evolution. I find funny saying stuff like "Press the B Button" imagine saying that irl. Anyway it's shame he didn't get to finish what he was saying . I don't know how to evolve Primape but when I decide to i'll use the internet. But it would be nice if it was stated in game how to do it.
Biology 5: He talks about Shiny Pokemon. He even brings up the Masuda Method. He brings up that, while it's a known phenomenon, it's unknown why it happens. It's fun that he talks about the Shiny charm as if it were more an urban legend than fact. I mean in a why it's just a good luck charm afterall.
Languages 3: Once again, my pre-existing knowledge of French and German is really backing me up. You don't need to tell us about your marital dispute, teach.
Languages Midterm: Easy, I don't know why he included his name in the test.
Languages 4: He talks about how Pokemon communicate and had his Pikachu act as an example. He also mentions how there are Pokemon who can communicate in ways other than sound, like telepathy. I just think it's neat how colorful the world of Pokemon can be.
Languages 5: More talk about understanding the meaning of Pokemon crys. I love how proud of itself the Pikachu looks when the students are clapping for it.
History 3: Apparently the school building is really old, about 800 years old. But the Pokeball part is new and the Raifort doesn't like that way it looks. Pokeballs are a popular design element in universe, but I guess there are people who aren't into it. So yeah , a real old prestigious academy, well known, even outside Paldea. Do you suppose a lot of Poke Professors have passed through here?
History Midterm: Very easy, I love fictional lore, lol.
History 4: She tells a fairy tale (hell yeah I love tales). So a king got 4 treasures (interesting that there are 4 when there's 1 of you + 3 friends) he gets them from a merchant from the East (where I wonder, Johto? Sinnoh? Maybe even just Kalos) and the king's castle gets destroyed (were the treasures destroyed along with it? was the castle cursed by the treasure or was it a coincidence?) Teach says you can ask her after class to hear the rest of the story, I hope that's true.
History 5: Some guy called Heath, I've never heard his name mentioned before but he wrote the Scarlet Book. A book talking about the findings of a Team from 200 years ago that actually managed to make it to the depths of Area Zero and back.
People calling Heath a liar is making me think of Noland the Liar from One Piece. Guy who finds something fantastical and tells other people about it but no one believes him because he wasn't able to back up his claim beyond his word. Rip Heath.
It's interesting that there are things in the Pokemon World that are considered too fantastical to be real. And that the paranormal is a thing. But the Pokemon World is already really fantastical. Like uhhh Ghost types?? And Legendaries?? Is that not fantastical enough to believe that this other stuff could be real?
Also another thing, talking about an expedition into a mysterious area reminds me of a book trilogy I'm found of called The Southern Reach Trilogy, also could be known the Annihilation Trilogy. I know there's a movie based off it, or at least the 1st book anyway but I haven't watched it, I would like to though.
So I'm going to go around and talk to some of the teachers again.
With Jacq I now have 200 Pokemon registered so he gave me 20 Quick Balls. Which is epic, Quick Balls are some of my favorite Pokeballs.
Raifort tells me the rest of the tale. The treasures were Pokemon! I wonder what kind they are... apparently they are sealed somewhere in Area Zero, guess I'll have to try to find them when I get in there. Sword makes me think of both Zacian and the Honedge line. But I'm not really sure what the others could be.
Tyme... I'm a bit concerned for her. Apparently someone's been watching her? Hope she's ok. I looked around but I didn't see anyone looking at her, at least not on the ground floor.
Clavell asks about my favorite teacher (I choose Raifort because Pokemon history class is really interesting, let's goooo for lore!) Clavell asked me about what hairstyles were popular among the youth. Just to see his reaction I said Pompadour, he was very happy when I said that, lol.
The nurse, Miriam is studying to try to become a Health Teacher, good luck, I'll be cheering you on!
Dendra is trying to learn to make better sandwiches. It was funny when the Home Ec teacher shook his head after the player tries the sandwich and it tastes terrible. When I first saw her there I was wondering if she might have thing for the Home Ec Teacher. I'll think about maybe shipping them.
Saguaro, the home ec teacher almost gives into peer pressure to eat a spicy sandwich, it's very funny, but I save the day, sort of. Apparently because everybody thinks he's cool, he tries to act that way. Not a great way to live if you ask me.
Talked to Tyme again, the person following her was a student wanting to ask a question, like she theorized. The student should apologies for scaring her teacher by somewhat stalking her.
Talked to Sanguaro again, he wants help in finding some sort of incredibly sweet condiment.
Talked to Dendra again. She was trying to make Miriam eat one of her sandwiches. A month ago, apparently Dendra made her a meat sandwich that was nothing but meat... including the bread. If the game would have let me I would have sided w/ Miriam. No one should ever feel pressured to eat something like that. It worked ok this time because Dendra truly has become better at sandwich making though. Another though, instead of Dendra x Sanguaro howabout Dendra x Miriam and she was trying to get better at sandwichs to impress her.
Talked to Hassel in the schoolyard, I don't know what the fuck that was. Some lady came up and he was like "I told you not to talk to me while I'm here." and she's like "it's a grave matter of importance to the family." What is Hassel part of some rich family or something, seriously, what was that?
Talked to Salvatore, he found a Pawmi that looked worse for were and was freaking out like "whatdoido?whatdoido?" Then he asked me if I had a potion, I sure as fuck do, I have so many you wouldn't believe. He think it might be a wild one that's wondered onto academy grounds, but it could be a trainer's he's going to look after it in the meantime. I bet this storyline ends with him keeping it, but I guess we'll see.
I decided to continue the Salvatore plot. The Pawmi is healthy and uninjured but it's not making any sounds. It is indeed a wild Pawmi that ran onto school grounds. I could be off basis but perhaps it may not be making sounds because it's deaf? Not sure if Pokemon would go for that but I'm digging the idea of the language learning a new language-sign language- to communicate with his new friend. It could also be mute, or as he theorized, just shocked. But I think the storyline I thought up of would be really interesting, and meaningful.
And now for our last, for now, update on school storylines. Hassel is indeed from some prestigious family, a family of dragon tamers! I wonder if he is related to Lance's family at all... Well he was supposed to be the head but he ran away and eventually became an elite four member and an art teacher. I wonder if he uses dragon types or something else. Well apparently his father is very sick and that was what the emergency was about.
So yeah I meant this post to have more than just school but... that didn't happen. Next post though, I'm going north.
So, as Guidry manifested (and told the group he was proud of them for sticking it out in the haunted farmhouse, so here is his jacket, unlocked for their pleasure), I figured it was time to try out the bubble blower! Victor, Alice, and Smiler all gathered around to sample the Cosmic Encounter flavor of bubbles. . .
And oh wow was that a disappointment. Not only did Alice and Victor keep choking on their bubbles, not only did the other guests COMPLAIN for some reason every time anyone took a bubble puff (look, I understand what it’s REFERENCING, but it IS a bubble blower), ALL THREE OF THEM ENDED UP WITH A BORED MOODLET. I was so excited to go ahead and put this into Smiler’s party space, and nobody liked it. :( I was so disappoint.
. . .and then Alice put the cherry on the shit sundae by turning into a rampaging werewolf. XD To be fair, this was my fault -- I KNEW it was a full moon that night, and I should have had her unleash a somber howl earlier, but I was hoping to deal her fury a bigger hit, and by the time I realized it had built up to out-of-control levels. . .welp. On the plus side, though, the transformation boosted her up a level, making her a Veteran werewolf! She also gained the Prideful Temperament, meaning she now gains more Fury while embarrassed and can take things more personally. *shrug* I can see it. I quickly sent her outside to avoid scaring any of the guests any more (Caleb in particular absolutely HATED this), and she spent the rest of the playsession either digging up the ground or getting the zoomies and accidentally scaring passers-by. XD If it makes you feel any better, Alice, I spent your latest power point on the “Lunar Resistance” power, so this is the last full moon that should stir you into a rampage!
Anyway -- as you might imagine, rampaging werewolf kind of put a damper on the party, and things just sort of broke apart after that, with the guests raiding the fridge and Smiler doing their best to calm the very upset Caleb down. XD As the guests trickled away, though, Smiler took the opportunity to quickly get in their own pumpkin before the holiday ended -- and of course made a big goofy smiley face. XD And it was masterpiece quality to boot. :) And so the holiday ended with everyone having had at least SOMEWHAT of a good time, a couple more ghost lamps in the household inventory, and Alice scrabbling in the dirt behind the house looking for goodies. XD Hardly the worst Spookfest in the world!
And next time -- well, I indicated before that I did some building to try and clean up the house, barn, and greenhouse and make the whole place look nicer, so you’ll see the results of that! I put down SO MANY RUGS. XD See you then!
