they're so romeo and juliet!!! so poetic!!! so love story by taylor swift!!!

it's not only because of whole cake island (that does help a lot, though) but their relationship dynamic and story as a whole. sanji grew up with a family that made him believe he was worthless and undeserving of love, and suddenly this silly guy appears out of nowhere saying that he wants him to come with him on an adventure because he believes he's the best cook ever (complimenting something his family constantly told him it was a weakness). he tells luffy about the all blue, opening up his heart and dreams to him in such a beautiful way that luffy can't help but say "yeah. this is the one. this is my cook now". they both share the same hopes and dreams!!!! reaching for the stars!!! fighting for their beliefs that everybody told them they wouldn't be able to follow!!! it's so so beautiful.

also, for luffy, food is something really important. not only referring to the comedic relief side of it, but also on a character level. food is what gives him strength, and it's also his love language (he's selfish when it comes to eating, but offers food to the ones he loves and cares about). and for sanji... well, food is his whole world. he won't let anyone starve, no matter who it is. it's the perfect dynamic. for luffy, food is important, not only bc he loves it, but because it's what makes him keep going (he literally needs to eat more than twice a normal person would because his power requires it). and for sanji that's!!! his perfect person!!!

whole cake island showing luffy refusing to eat until sanji comes back is so,,, i can't put it into words. but it's majestic. poetry. such a devotion to his cook it hurts. and sanji can't let him starve!!! it's so kzsdbjkasdbjkab i'm weak. crying. sobbing. luffy literally can't become the king of the pirates without him. he said it himself.

and also: luffy sees through sanji. we know luffy is like, the most empathetic character ever because he has this perception of people that's always so so accurate. he sees them as an open book. crystal clear. i mean, not really that crystal clear all the time but he knows when somebody is lying to themselves or him. and he knows that sanji is lying to himself in whole cake island the same way he's been aware of his insecurities ever since they met. and it's SO good.

the passion and devotion a cook and his constantly hungry captain have for each other is so intimate... luffy is curious by nature and wants to know more and more about the world and sanji. and sanji could just settle for cooking for him and finding the all blue, but luffy brings out that dreamy nature in him. luffy helps him ask for help and be himself.

sanji is selfless. luffy wants him to be selfish.

and it's!! so good!! so so romantic!!!

also don't get me started on luffy's speech to him because that's literally pride and prejudice mixed with romeo and juliet and a hint of corpse bride.

and yeah, you were talking about not getting the appeal pre time skip? well, let me tell you:

it might not be as romantic as post time skip, but it still is beautiful. sanji follows luffy to this adventure because he wants to find the all blue, but also because luffy has a dream even crazier than his. after being told countless times that his dream is a lie and impossible to achieve, seeing somebody as reckless and impulsive as luffy wanting something like being the king of the pirates does something to sanji. once again, as i was saying, luffy makes him want to be selfish. sanji doesn't want to leave the baratie because he feels like he owes zeff his life. that's his home, but also where his father and savior is. he wants to leave. he just doesn't know how to without feeling guilty. both luffy and zeff help him realize that he needs to go after his dream.

also, sanji's obsession with women goes beyond, you know, anything. but his devotion to luffy is stronger!! when you leave the comedic gags aside, of course.

besides, their dynamic is extremely funny. sanji is calm and mature and luffy is a menace to society. but... are they, really? because their dynamic is always funny like that, but also... it's kind of the other way around. luffy might seem immature and impulsive (he is) but when it comes to other people's feelings he's always the first one to understand. sanji, on the other hand, seems to have everything under control but once stuff like wci happens, we see that he's actually pretending to be like that. he's just a kid. he's scared and insecure and trauma suddenly hit him like a fucking truck without him expecting it and luffy is the one that needs to save him.

!!!!! lusan is GREAT. not only bc their "love cook x insatiable eater" dynamic, but because of their understanding and love for each other.

look, sanji is a damsel in distress and luffy is his knight in shining armor. except that they're actually a cook with an abusive family and an intense captain with a lot of love for food and his cook.

also they're very cutie patootie and they act very silly goofy together. i love when they're calm and laughing and nobody has to go through intense trauma for them to be happy in the end.

just look at them and tell me they aren't in love (although i see them more like in a queer platonic relationship but that's for another day):

Because of an addition to an Ao3 wrapped tagging meme @viharistenno made for 2023, I got inspired to start a new thing:

I read ~ 3,035,667 words last month!

(adding up the word counts from my Ao3 history + from my bookmarks of # 'external source' aka everything I read on ffnet etc, minus anything I bookmarked and tagged 'to read' or 'to continue reading', you can just do Ao3 history though for less accurate but easier results, I really made sure I'd add everything to tagged bookmarks throughout the month to get it more exact)

I'd love to say it's so high bc it's an outlier as I had too much free time but um. I don't think so lmao, I didn't actually read all the time, I was also out and about a lot

6 pages of Ao3 history + 18 external works, - 8 to read - 9 to continue reading... Quite some math lmao, but I'm still glad I'm doing it by the month now, because when I tried doing it for 2023 in one go there were so damn many pages of Ao3 history alone that I gave up after two months and just tried to do an average, which gave me one result of 20mil for making an average by month and one of 8mil by making an average by historypage, (so that's not including any fics on other sites) - I'm guessing the 20mil is closer to the truth but I'd have to count to be sure and yeah Nope not doing thatmhch math in one go!

Anyway! For this January, 1,840,583 words were on Ao3, 1,195,084 on ffnet (I just read some longfics there but they were Really long ones), no other sites used this month

Also, I read the physical copy of 1 book of 327 pages this month :) and I don't remember whether I read any e-books, I thiiiink I finished my last Enid Blyton reading spree in December?

i really wanted to make a webweaving blog bc you really inspire me, but i don't have a great attention spam or much motivation to read :( do you have any tips? i'm afraid my blog would be corny/repetitive because i don't know a lot of authors

sorry for answering this about two months late, you're not the first to ask this and i'm sure won't be the last!! the truth is, i'm not very good at reading myself. i read fanfiction every single day, and reread old favourite books and poems all the time, but i honestly am awful at reading new books, and worse at remembering things from them. the only thing you really need to webweave is an idea, and the ability to research. most of the content of my webs is stuff i've looked up specifically whilst making it - maybe 1 in 5 quotes is something i knew about beforehand/remembered. my memory is-- not great, to say the least, but i find i remember things that make me feel something. also, saving quotes you come across as you go means that you'll end up with a pretty hefty backcatalog to search when you're making things - mine has gotten big enough now that i'm trying to organise it (with very limited success) as i can't find shit anymore. i've got a tag called 'the process' where i answer other asks about making webs, so be sure to check that out, but honestly?? anyone can web weave. anyone. it's not a mystical art, it's a selection of skills -- hell, not even skills, habits that become more natural and second nature the more you do it. when i first started, it took me days to research and create a web. now i can do it in a couple of hours. the best time to start is now <3

Hi guys! I've been posting a lot abt Rasmus lately! So I want to explain how my obsesseion varies between Rasmus and Cyrus

If you haven't seen it yet, I have a post explaining what Cyrus is and how integral he is to my everyday functioning. It's a long post, so all you really need to know is he's like if you combined an imaginary friend + fictional other + caretaker all into one and placed him with me 24/7. He's my silly little cy guy and I would die without him <3

Yet I don't post about him as much as you'd expect me to. But I have been talking soooo so muchsies about Rasmus from Omega Strikers

So why is it different? Because! While Cyrus is a fictional character, that's not all he is to me

Cy serves a lot of other functions and purposes within my life. He's been around for a little over a year now (15 months?) and he helps me to be able to live my life in a healthy and successful manner

Rasmus is just a fictional character. He's a really cool one! But that's all he is

It's casual character obsession. Well, casual for me. To anyone else I probably look insane. And I am! But that's for other reasons

If you followed my pokeblog when I was obsessed w Hassel, it's a little like that. Except I think Rasmus is more of a kin type obsession, not like fictional crush (which is what Hassel was)

I don't think that this happens often w me? I can't remember the last character it happened with before Hassel.

Obviously I also have favorite characters. I talk about them more than other characters in a series, but there's a difference between a character being my favorite vs me being obsessed w them

If a character is my favorite, then you will see me post about them regularly. I might spam post them from time to time, but you won't see me going out of my way to talk about them personally. Usually just rb stuffs

If I am obsessing over a character, then I post about them a LOT more, and might even make my OWN posts talking abt them. I'll actively be constantly rbing stuff for them, and generally I'll be a lot more active in sharing my thoughts on them (in tags or otherwise)

The only reason I don't do that w Rasmus is cuz Omega Strikers isn't so super popular so the fanbase isn't massive on here and there's not much to rb

Basically my 3 stages of affinity for a character are:

Obsession - I am hyper and rabid and if I see them I go ‼‼‼‼‼😀😀😀😀😀😀💥💥💥💥💥💥 (Rasmus, Hassel)

I could use this to rank all my fav characters that would be fun actually. Unfortunately I do not remember like half of them bc I have no concept of object permanence

Send a bunch of different requests, and/or ask if your muti requests (if I write them) can be tagged a certain way! As long as you're not spamming me asking when your fic will be done, I have no problem with you sending me a bunch of your ideas! For the tagging, a great example is my Apprentice!reader fics which are tagged in that way.

Okay now the middle ground:

I will consider writing yandere, manipulative characters or readers, slight-medium dubcon, and threesomes, but that will be on a case by case basis! Don't be afraid to ask, though!

For HOTD: The only incest I'll write is Jacaerys x Helaena, and I won't write for Daemon bc I think he's a predator and a groomer. Also, I won't write Lucerys in any nsfw or spicy things, bc he's a baby!!!!

Hi! Welcome to my blog. This is a space I made to just ramble about various topics, which generally range across physics, alchemy, the fluidity of "reality", and manifestation (which are much more closely related than you might think, and I may study chemistry at some point as well in order to grow my knowledge further). One could say I am interested in the answers of the universe.

Now, who is this blog for? It's for anyone, really. I am purposely not putting up a DNI, as I believe that my information should be available to everyone, regardless of whether we would get along in real life or not. And honestly, I cannot control whether someone does or does not read my blog, so I don't really care. All I hope for is that someone finds my writing and my thoughts interesting.

Now, about myself: I won't give specifics on my age, but I am at least old enough to legally drink in the States (although I personally do not). I don't really have a gender, and as for pronouns you may call me whatever you feel fits me best. I am also aspec and aplatonic, though I suppose I would call myself demi-queerplatonic.

Every now and then I also do a little witchcraft, but that's neither here nor there.

I am also going to leave asks off, as I am well aware how destructive those can be, and I want this blog to be a peaceful place that I can enjoy. Please also refrain from asking me my stances on various human rights. I have my opinions, but unless I choose to share them publicly, assume they are private matters and off limits.

Tags have a few different functions, and some of them depend on whether it's an original post or a reblog:

1. Original posts. Tags on original posts will show up in search (I can remember if it's still a thing or not, but a post will only be visible in the search pages of the first 5(?) tags. You can use more than 5, but the post won't show up in the search for tags 6+. Be aware tho that people get grumpy if you spam the search pages with irrelevant content, this ain't TikTok :p but bc only the first 5 tags get seen in the search you can add whatever other tags you want after that

1a. You asked about what to tag asks, usually it's stuff like #asks #___ answers #___ replies #anon

2. Roblogs. Tags here can be anything, only original posts show up in the search. The people who can see tags on reblogs are you, OP, your followers, and anyone who goes into the notes, so be mindful that you aren't rude.

2a. You can have conversations I'm the tags or use them to organize content on your blog

2b. Maybe the content of a post is controversial or something that's commonly a trigger. Tagging this kind of stuff in your reblogs (original posts too!) will allow people who have those tags blacklisted to avoid seeing the content

3. No tags. Some people are wild and don't tag anything, to each there own, but that can make it hard for your followers to avoid things they may not be interested in, like maybe you're an alligator blog so someone followed you for that, but all of a sudden you're also posting star wars, they'll probably just blacklist the tag instead of unfollow you

3a. Sometimes, you might post something you just don't want to show up on a search page, leave it untagged

4. Queue. Some people like to tag their queued posts with things like: queue, q, or or for example, quecifer (you'll see all kinds). This just lets people know you're not live posting.

The only one to really pay attention to is avoiding spam tagging on original posts, otherwise it's up to you how you use them, do what works best for you!

I know there are tumblr guides floating around in the reddit and 196 tags that will probably have better explanations, but I hope this helps!

Your guide illuminates the finer points of tagging customs in various circumstances in far more detail than any of the guides I've read so far. I think it's given me a better understanding of the gestalt, which feels critical in such a community-driven place that depends on everyone at least vaguely working together to help us all find interesting content produced by each other.

Tagging is fascinating here. The balance between using them practically to help sift through posts and/or avoid the apparent plague of notifications I hear come with popular posts, and using them to add additional commentary to yours or others' posts unobtrusively is very interesting.

that’s the thing tho. you take all these precautions to prevent crackdowns from outside parties… and then nothing to prevent censorship from within. tiff isn’t gonna be an isolated incident. antis already invaded ao3 and now they’re gonna feel enboldened to try and push until they have a majority in the board. and then what?

no group is immune to outside influence and it is literally impossible to keep "outside parties" away when they are a part of the group. like it or not (and i know i don't) antis are members of fandom. if they wanna organize big events, go to cons, volunteer at otw, we can not stop them from doing that it's normal participation in fandom.

i don't know what you mean by "invaded" you mean they're using ao3? they're posting fics and leaving comments and such? bc if you mean they're working as individual volunteers so their duties are p specific and have no power to change things. if someone's misusing volunteer status to harass ppl they can be reported like a normal user, and i suspect something like that would them getting a ban

in order to be eligible for board you need to, among other things:

be 18

be a paying member of OTW for at least 8 weeks prior to election

have served as a volunteer for at least 9 of the 12 months leading up to elections

so yea not a lot of hardcore teenage antis are going to be holding board positions anytime soon. that's not including that board members are also working on a 100% volunteer basis, so it's basically taking on a second job

even if next year the entire board is replaced w antis they won't be able to wave their hands and change the site(s) bc the board is only responsible for supervising the various committees. so even a full anti board would need to get all of legal, all of design and tech, all of documentation, all of fiance, all of abuse, all of systems, all of Fanlore, all of Open Doors, all of the tag wranglers, all of everyone else on their side, bc everything in the org is volunteer. if something like that were to happen how many ppl do you think would just quit? we already know legal considers anti goals to be an impossible task to achieve, so i feel confidant in saying that if a bunch of already stretched thin pro bono lawyers are pushed to do something they don't believe in they will Just Leave. how many antis are both qualified and care This Much to replace what would be at least half the site making a mass exodus?

All you have to do is ask, specify what prounouns are to be used, and specify what characters you want and I'll do my best to complete the request as long as it doesn't involve the things I refuse to write for. Any requests that are made when my requests are closed will be deleted.

Also, if you request a NSFW request you must confirm you are an adult. You  don’t have to say your specific age, just verifying that you are at least 18 years old will be enough (EX: at the end of a NSFW request, say “I am an adult” / “I am at least 18 years old.”).
