It fits so well too - the main characters are a good girl who struggles with bitter anger and dark thoughts, a bad boy who walks the line between charming and sociopathic, a queen bee so thoroughly shallow it almost passes for depth, a perky and immature cheerleader who slowly realises she's being dragged down by the people she hangs out with, and a quiet, bookish loner who is so convinced she's in the right that she can't see her own capacity for cruelty.

Gosh. Where would I be without mentioning mArinette. This is the fic I'm most divided about, because I love it, however I also got a massive amount of negative backlash as a result. I guess that whole "10% of every group are assholes, so the bigger the group, the louder the assholes start sounding" thing is true. Anyway, this fic is deeply personal to me, but it's also silly, campy, romantic, angsty, and fluffy.

Aight so boom

In my au pixies aren’t made FOR fairies but the bonding CAN happen, and it’s not a one for one kind of thing. That instant connection is important but it CAN definitely be ignored and isn’t indicative of much besides the fact that your magic clicks well together and that y’all can help eachother out on your journey. To do that you make a sort of contract which can be broken at any time, but it can rlly screw you over depending on how long y’all we’re together and the conditions it was made under.

So when it comes to the winx their respective bonds were more for emotional maturity than magical help but some pairings simply didn’t click. For example, Tune was trying to help Musa control her emotions but she forgot the emotions part and simply tried to control her. Stella wanted Amore to help her out with her love life but Amore couldn’t get it through to Stella that self love, true self love and not fake it till you make it, is what she needed. So these contracts fizzled with little to no repercussions since the Winx specifically made these contracts through Concorda and Aisha as a sort of protection clause. (Basically it was as long as darker was around we’ll take the pixies under our protection and help them out as much as we can, while the Pixies side was to help Alfea and it’s students for as long as he was there)

More detail on that: Aisha already had a close relationship with the pixies beforehand as she had previously created a contract with the head of pixie village to protect them to the best of her ability and they, in response would allow her to use pixie village as a safe haven if necessary, and while the deal was important she was like 9 and the head or pixie village was literally just offering an escape and didn’t rlly expect that Aisha would have to do anything in the future. And then Darkar showed up and stole our main pixies.

Aisha feels as though she broke her end of the contract, but the head of the village doesn’t see it that way and thinks she did the best she could. The events of the show happen and when the pixies from the village make their way to Alfea, they strike a contact with the Head Pixie there, which is Concorda. The pixies vouch for Aisha but don’t rlly trust Faragonda and Concorda agrees to allow Aisha to make the contract in her stead. It’s the main reason Aisha is allowed to stay at Alfea despite her rocky start and it rlly affects her later in the season considering her having to keep the relations up on top of everything else she dealt with.

Most of the fairies make 1 year contracts with some of the Pixies which Aisha and Concorda must look over together (usually nobody can rlly stop u from making a contract but these are very desperate times and desperate ppl can do crazy things and they have to make sure nothing interrupts the PV and Alfea alliance. Aisha and Concorda become friends and Piff is upset that their bonded fairy is doing MORE work after bonding with them but they do enjoy the library cause Aisha always falls asleep there) and Aisha and Musa’s excursion to the club disappointed Concorda on a professional level but she was honestly glad Aisha was finally having some fun.

Anyways some Pixies and fairies either made lifelong bonds (digit and tecna/Aisha and piff), broke their contracts after getting what they needed (Bloom and Locket/Flora and Chatta) or had their bonds fizzle out halfway through (Tune and Musa/Stella and Amore). There were good relationships formed tho, like Chatta and Stella or Tune and Griffin, but these were more relaxed and they were pen pals more than anything once most of the pixies went home. Some pixies like Livy, enjoyed Alfea and took certain roles on over there though.

(Also this post is long enough but I’m adding that damn near anyone in the magic dimension can have a contract with a pixie and some others who do are:

- Stormy, who’s hiding them from her sisters (they know but it’s funny that she gets so embarrassed abt it, she eventually tells them that the pixie is there to aid her in her plans for world domination but the truth is that the pixie is there to help with her emotional regulation and stormy provides it with an extra power boost In return (there’s so much lore behind this specific pixie omg)

-Nabu, they basically originally wanted to aid eachother for magical research purposes. I already made a post about how wizards work here, and basically Nabu was originally struggling with illusion magic and asked the pixie for help. He refused the magic boost until he mastered it, since he wanted to learn how to do it on his own and the pixie was extremely invested in wizards storing magic in tattoos, since they only had experience with magical objects. They eventually got attached and they’re not afraid to admit to eachother but there’s a running gag of them going “shouldn’t the contact be over by now?” “No idk your favorite color yet” and other stupid things like that since they purposely left the wording vague in order to “secretly” milk as much knowledge as they could out of the other.

-Helias pixie is extremely wild, emotive. Etc. And Helia approved them at a low point bc he wanted more ppl to like him. The pixie was kind of bored and agreed but Helia eventually realized he didn’t care what ppl thought of him and wanted to be himself (corny ass mf). The pixie was lowk irritated until they realized when Helia said anybody he ALSO meant his family so they got up to some mischief together when helia was feeling it. They’re not under contract anymore and aren’t together all the time, but they’re friendly and have fun on the occasions they do come across eachother.

“A (Plot) Bunny Is Never Lonely”

Summary: When Kiko tugs on Marion's skirt in an attempt to alleviate his loneliness, he also tugs on her heartstrings with the familiar feeling. But the feeling of the little bunny in her hand is yet another thing she didn't have before and it helps her realize that not all has been lost for the royal family of Domino.

This originated as a joke which then grew into a drabble which then grew into a full fledged fic. It is much more serious than the title will lead you to believe which is why I left it as a means to recreate my own experience with writing this fic.

Marion looked down when she felt the slight tug on her dress only to be met with two perky blue ears that moved when her gaze met that of the bunny.

“Hello, Kiko,” she greeted as she bent down to pick the bunny up and he readily let go of her skirt and hopped in her palm, allowing her to bring him up. It was good to see he was adapting to the changes as well since the first time she’d seen him, he’d been hiding behind Bloom’s legs and holding on to her bell bottom jeans. She’d had to pick him up and hold him in front of her to introduce him to them and he’d only calmed down after Marion had smiled at him. She supposed it made sense he’d been intimidated by her and Oritel, especially if Bloom had shared her concerns about not being a good enough princess with him. But he’d gotten used to them and Marion really wanted to think that that held true for Bloom as well. “You’re such a welcome distraction,” Marion said as she held him up.

Oritel and her were going through the budget and even though it was a thing that had to be done and they’d done it what felt like a million times before, it didn’t make it any more pleasant. The whole table was covered in books and scrolls and it was a mess since economy had changed a lot during the years they’d missed. She was feeling a headache beginning in her temples and she was getting distracted looking at Oritel’s hands and imagining how having him giving her a massage would feel rather than actually working so she could use a little interaction with the bunny.

She felt Oritel moving, probably trying to draw her attention. She couldn’t quite decide whether he was jealous of her or of Kiko. The bunny seemed to take to her more since Oritel’s sudden outbursts startled him and Oritel didn’t seem entirely happy about it, though she couldn’t tell which end of that newly formed relationship bothered him. It could easily be either since Kiko was practically Bloom’s best friend–along with Stella, of course–and Bloom had been thrilled to see he was rapidly getting used to Marion’s gentle strokes on his head and back. Marion just hoped Oritel wasn’t feeling like he was in a competition with the bunny for her attention. As understandable as his jealousy would be after having her so far away from him for all these years, there was no need for it since he was always there in her heart and no one and nothing could root him out even if they tried. And she had enough love for all of them, so much love that she’d been wanting to give. And now she could.

She focused on Kiko who smiled at her, completely aware of what she’d told him. She was still amazed by his sentience. He was practically like a person save for the ability to speak and she’d never seen anything quite like it. She would love to learn more about him since she was sure there was something magical in him but she didn’t want to make neither him, nor Bloom feel like she was running an experiment on him so she settled for just observing him and feeling her heart melting in flames that were both warming and vicious at the sight of the bond between him and Bloom. She knew Bloom hadn’t really had friends before Winx and while her heart ached for her daughter and everything she’d been through, she was glad that Bloom had had Kiko. He was quite the remarkable bunny and she’d seen him responding to Bloom’s moods with great concern and care. It had made her wish she’d had a friend like him when she’d been Bloom’s age.

“Where is Bloom?” she asked, her heart skipping a beat when she saw Kiko’s ears dropping down and falling on both sides of her palm, his fur brushing against her skin.

“Sky arrived earlier,” Oritel said, making her look at him, a frown on her face that was met with a similar expression from him, though she supposed it couldn’t be called a reflection if the reasons behind the two were different. She hadn’t been informed about that and while she didn’t by any means need or insist to know absolutely everything that was happening with Bloom, she was a little surprised she hadn’t heard about it. Bloom usually got very excited when Sky could find the time for a visit so it probably meant it hadn’t been planned. It could very well be a surprise–nothing quite like young love–but her motherly instincts were relentless and started off all kinds of alarms in her head, making her worry about her baby and anything potentially wrong. “He also brought Locket with him,” Oritel said and at least he seemed to be well informed about the whole affair so she supposed there was nothing concerning and her heart relaxed a little.

Marion had met Locket, too, the little pixie less on edge than Kiko had been but still somewhat nervous. Though, Marion had learned that was more or less a part of her nature. She was a very lively being but rather clueless sometimes which complemented Bloom as much as it mirrored her and it was charming to watch the two of them together.

“Did you get left behind?” Marion turned her attention on Kiko again since he’d been ignored enough. Bloom sometimes didn’t exactly reciprocate the devotion Kiko was displaying and was taking him for granted–especially when Locket was around–and it was tugging on her heartstrings to see Kiko so dejected. It was like his little heart had been torn out of his chest and stepped all over and it pained her. She hadn’t talked to Bloom about it since she hadn’t wanted to start lecturing her about how to live her life after she’d just become a part of it but perhaps it wouldn’t be such a bad idea. She was sure Bloom wasn’t even realizing she was ignoring Kiko and the effect it had on him–she could get a little hyper focused on something and forget about everything else, though that was practically in her genes, and she’d had a lot of emotions to deal with lately so it was understandable if she’d gotten overwhelmed and didn’t have the capacity to be more giving currently–so perhaps a talk was exactly what she needed.

Kiko only crouched even more in her hand as if the weight of the loneliness was going to crush him and Marion felt a burn in her eyes as the tears were on their way as Kiko looked exactly like her inner self had for a big part of her early years when she’d been nothing but the crown princess of Domino. Not a human being and certainly not a daughter and a friend. She’d been so lucky to have Oritel–and Hagen, too–reach for her hand and share his life and love with her. She wasn’t certain she could’ve done it otherwise, any of it. Just the thought of being without Oritel was too frightening so she pushed it away.

“You can stay here with us,” she said and smiled at the bunny that immediately perked up. She moved to stroke his head and saw him close his eyes in content.

“We have work to do,” Oritel said, his tone controlled but still sharp and he was eying Kiko with a level of distaste that the bunny had all but deserved. It did turn out useful, though, since it gave Marion the needed confirmation about what was going on in Oritel’s head and she could now work on solving that, too. It was something she would tend to much more lovingly and carefully than the papers in front of them.

“He can help,” she said, fully aware that that wasn’t in Kiko’s capabilities as impressive as he was but it would give them the much needed opportunity to bond. He was a member of the family whether Oritel liked it or not. Though, Marion supposed that he just needed a little time and the right outlook and he’d come to love Kiko as much as she and Bloom did. And even Daphne had grown on the bunny despite him being startled by her appearance at first. Marion understood the feeling as she’d been too, her heart aching for her other girl as well. And while Kiko was enjoying Daphne’s touch, she couldn’t help but feel robbed on behalf of her daughter. She couldn’t help but feel Daphne’s loneliness resonating with her own when she could touch her, and yet, she couldn’t have her in her arms the way she wanted to. And not even touching all the rest of them could help.

Kiko instantly straightened up and saluted–a brave little soldier ready for work–and jumped up on the table. His enthusiasm was adorable and contagious, filling Marion with enough willpower to push through the work they still had to do now that she was reminded she wasn’t alone against it. Her family was back and they were together even if they still had some obstacles that were trying to come between them, and they even had new members. Kiko and soon potentially Sky. They were growing and none of them had to be lonely anymore. They had each other.

She got up from her chair and moved over to Oritel who looked at her with slight trepidation like he was afraid she’d figured out what was going on in his heart and she would be offended. But she understood too well. She was terrified of having to spend even a second more without him, too, without any of them. And while it was unrealistic to expect the terror that had been carved all over their souls by the merciless work of time to just disappear overnight, it was safe to believe they would never have to face the same pain again. Bloom had found them, with help from Daphne and her inner flame, and she’d brought them back together. She had that same love and determination burning inside her like the rest of them that was also the source of the warm security Marion could feel seeping into her being as she took Oritel’s hand, glad to feel him relax and close his fingers around hers.

She kissed his cheek before locking eyes with him. “We have someone new to give love to,” she said, feeling the tears in her eyes again because it was all new. Bloom had been a baby the last time they’d seen her before she’d freed them from Obsidian and Daphne had had a body and the powers she’d passed to her sister, and Kiko had never been a part of the picture. But he was there now. So were all of them. Together. And it was all that mattered since everything else they could fix with joint effort.

Oritel’s expression softened just like his stance as he read everything that was flaming in her head and no doubt coming through in her gaze. He cupped her cheek with the hand she wasn’t holding and she leaned into his warmth as she closed her eyes and let him draw her closer and touch his forehead to hers. The spiraling thoughts had retreated from her head, dragging away the headache with them, for no pain could survive his closeness.

A gasp of wonder came from Kiko at the sound of approaching footsteps before she heard him rushing towards it and the papers rustling under his small feet but not for long as he must have jumped off the table.

“Hey, Kiko,” Bloom’s cheerful voice filled the room and Marion’s heart followed by a laugh that reminded her that it was so full of love it could burst. But it was no longer painful since she could give all of it to her family now that they were reunited. And the sight of Kiko engulfed in Bloom’s arms was all the magic she needed to keep away the loneliness and other negative feelings.

The pixies!!! the weirder outfits are what i think they would wear in the average pixie culture, and the more normal clothing is stuff stella designed for them all.

amore, piff, lockette, chatta, digit/caramel and tune/cherie

lore and stuff below the cut

pixies are about 12 inches tall at the most but average in 8-10 inches. They have large, single colored wings, that are physically attached to their back, and they literally can’t “de-transform” or get rid of their wings. they also have skin patterns that can change but only after severe trauma. pixies are technically genderless and sexless, but a lot of them use the pronouns of whoever they end up bonding with. Some pixies like to mimic human clothing before they really interact with human society.

Pixies are born from the tree of magix, which besides producing pixies, also syncs up with the magical energy of female magic users, having a “record” of every one born(how they found roxy in season 4). Whenever someone unlocks magic winx for the first time it sends a surge through the connected thread of magic through the tree of magix, opening the flower representing the fairy and causing the birth of the fairy’s bonded pixie. Until the fairy and pixie meet in person the bond is not super strong. The fairy can’t feel it but the pixies can, and some pixies choose to seek out their fairy on their own by following the thread. the first thing a pixie does after their matter finally settles on a form they announce what they are “the pixie of”, then after a couple days they pick their own name.

The pixie’s special talent(yes im stealing that term from the tinkerbell movies shut up) cannot change, unlike fairies, who can adjust their “fairy of” title should they need to. the pixies talent is rarely super similar to their fairy’s preferred magic. Pixies are kind of hoarders when it comes to objects related to their talent, dressing themselves in these materials and hiding them away in various secret spots. A pixie’s talent and personality are theorized to support and provide a counter point for their fairy. but the method by which this is chosen is currently unknown by the magical science community.

personality wise, my pixies are..... not as nice as the canon ones lol. They are obsessive, possessive, and self absorbed. they don’t like dealing with things that aren’t related to their talent. they don’t like it when people take items related to their talent. they don’t like other pixies. like at all. pixies are usually very solitary, nesting at least 10 yards from any other pixie. Pixie “village” is a meeting place for pixie celebrations and ceremonies, but its rare that more than one or two pixies live there at the same time. a lot of pixies had to tolerate each other during the fiasco with lord darkar, and it is NOT remembered fondly. Bonded pixies are very possessive of their fairy and dislike anyone who is a perceived threat to the fairy or the relationship (this includes boyfriends, friends, siblings, parents, pets, etc because tiny angry wasp babies attacking everybody is a HILARIOUS idea)

Amore: Pixie of (romantic) Love. Collects things related to love(roses from bouquets, gift jewelry, chocolate boxes, etc) Amore is naive and a little ditzy, she is one of the only pixies who enjoys interacting with humans who are not her bonded fairy. She is known around alfea campus for giving the best romantic advice and for AVENGING BROKEN HEARTS SWIFTLY AND MERCILESSLY. Stella is balanced by Amore, who is outrageously loving towards everyone she meets (unless they have broken some one else’s heart or if they threaten stella), prefers to make the best of bad situations, and stay out the spotlight.

Piff: Pixie of Rest. They collect fluffy pillow and blankets mostly. they have the most nests in alfea out of the bonded pixies. piff is selectively mute, only speaking while in one of their nests or with Aisha, piff can be very lazy and apathetic with basically everybody/everything else. Piff balances Aisha with their even temperament and need for sleep, which forces aisha to actually slow tf down every once in a while.

Lockette: Pixie of Portals. Collects maps, locks, and keys. actually the youngest of the pixies since bloom was the last member of the winx to transform. Lockette is still a scaredy-cat, but only in physical fights or of monsters, in personal relationships lockette is hard headed and combative. bloom is balanced by Lockette’s cautious approach to conflict and strong stance towards personal problems(instead of running away like bloom always does lmao)

Chatta: Pixie of Language. collects book pages, pen nibs, anything with words on it, including voice recordings. she’s the only other pixie who likes to interact with humans who aren’t her bonded fairy. chatta is hyper hyper hyper and a little bossy. She and lockette clash a lot over who “leads’ the pixies, even though most of the time Chatta is just thinking outloud. Flora is balanced by Chatta’s upbeat energy and belief in expressing herself!!! She loves to talk!!!!!

Pixel: Pixie of Images. collects colored pencils, markers, and any kind of image printed or digital or whatever. theyre scattered and unpredictable, jumping from one thing to the next. They will leave little drawings all over alfea. tecna is balanced by pixel’s creative problem solving and emotional expression. (Side note: I always thought digit being tecna’s pixies was a little redundant, and i never really liked caramel? so Pixel was a good “technological” sounding name that referenced art. Pixel’s design is a combo of digit and caramel though.)

Chene: Pixie of Atmosphere. collects kites, tuffs of clouds, and wind chimes. Chene prefers her own company almost more than musa’s. Chene and musa clash the most obviously in the group, as both are herd headed and temperamental. however, while musa flares hot and pursues a fight, chene is cold and standoffish. despite their problems Musa is actually balanced by Chene’s calm attitude and independent spirit. (side note: Chene is a direct combo of tune and cherie, i don’t remember exactly how i connected them but basically “manners” create a “mood” which could also be an “air” about a person+ weather= atmosphere. boom. her design is a combo of cherie and tune’s.)

I never showed any interest in the pixies as a kid. Like I have piles of Winx merch from back then still and not one pixie related thing, and I'm pretty sure them butting in on Kiko's beloved sidekick territory is why

I mean if I'm this annoyed as an adult, I can't imagine my child self who adored Kiko a ridiculous amount(enough to name a bunny after him) handled this very well either😂

Ok I know Bloom's bio parents are great and she does find them eventually so what I'm seeing here is not the narrative the show is going for BUT

I really love that this ominous music started playing and stormclouds showed up when Bloom got pulled away from her adoptive parents and towards her birth parents. Big found family supremacy vibes

Also! She's much more formal when trying to talk to them! In this dub at least, she uses formal pronouns and calls them "mother" and "father" instead variations of "mama" and "papa" like she does with her earth parents. It just gives the impression that as much as she wants to find her bio family, her heart is always gonna be with the people that raised her

Seriously where is my bunny boy?! He's been weirdly not as present all season but it's especially jarring with Bloom carrying Locket around the same way she did him 90% of the time in s1

Stella lecturing Bloom and calling her "Young Lady" here has the same energy as Bloom lecturing Stella and calling her basically the same thing in Miss Magix

I do appreciate even an evil version of Bloom just sharing her intentions so openly(and in the cheeriest voice bc I cant stress enough how Not Evil she sounds) Every version of her is honest to a fault

I guess in a way the still innocent sounding voice makes sense? It's really weird to watch but if she actually sounded sinister I'd be questioning how calm the characters interacting with her were. Still kinda awkward tho

It is sweet that their reactions never move away from being mainly concern for Bloom no matter how much she throws them around

I don't know why I'm surprised no one's holding this against her. It's totally on brand for this show to have the girls be supportive of each other above all else. But somehow I still am
