For y'all's review for the AU: A Prequel Outline - Divorce Saga Domon

Hey real quick - I'm thinking of maybe changing the timeline to 2 years post canon as opposed to 3 years and change post canon.

The reason being: I had a thought that this scene could either be part if the fic or if it's getting to big then it could be a stand alone tie-in prequel fic as part of this AU but - like

Immediately Post Divorce Domon Needs Space and runs off. As one does. And he runs to Earth because he just wants to Get Lost for a while.

He has Argo smuggle him out to avoid detection.

Argo has Andrew help stow Domon in a storage hanger of a Neo Canadian supply ship that's returning to the US - they have trade often enough and share agricultural resources - which leads to Domon ending up in New York when he hits Earthside pavement.

He's privately worked on his English the last couple of months and after being dropped in New York with a different hairstyle, outfit, and accent he's unrecognizable. 

He considers making his way west to get some solitude in the wilderness, but something about that initial plan feels off now that he's on the ground.

Chibodee is also Earthside for a special series of prize fights aimed at raising charitable appeal for the US in the eyes of Neo Americans.

Domon decides to hit up Chibodee for a fight on a day between matches hoping it'll clear his head and give him the clarity to decide on a course of action. What ends up happening is an unexpected heart to heart via blows and a breakdown.

Domon is happy for Rain and Kyoji, and he knows it's not true; but he feels like he lost a piece of himself when his relationship with Rain fell apart.

Domon's instinct is to run after that but Chibodee knows this city and Domon doesn't hide out for long before Chibodee drags him back to his place to stay and just "Chill out and breathe. You don't have to be anyone but yourself here. You can take as long as you need to find out what everything changing means for you." Friends and teammates stick together.

So Domon spends a few weeks with Chibodee sparring and hanging out in New York. Chibodee does a frankly awesome job at containing his feelings because he's focusing on Domons feelings and being a good friend first and foremost. Whatever he's feeling can wait until after Domon is done going though it.

There's a bit of a twinge in Domon's heart as he leaves that he can't really place.

After he returns to Neo Japan and gets settled back into life with his family, The Dreams start.

They're mainly set in New York. Small things first like noticing Chibodee's smile and his eyes. Then sparring sessions that begin to turn lurid.

He thought these kinds of dreams would stop after he was married.... he doesn't know what to do about this.

I just figure it gives more clarity and sense of time for the journey from Comphet Marriage Dissolution to Feelings to Confession. Idk.

But I got stuck on a bit and then had this thought and needed to get it down before I lost it and it was so long it made sense to make it its own post as opposed to several replies.

The Maize and Clown Motel will probably still be 3 years and change post canon for clarification.

Once they had a breakthrough - Schwarz was sent abroad with a small military group and Doctors Without Borders group to assist #With immediate infection cases on behalf of Neo Japan as part of reparations. So Domon hadn't seen him in quite some time. #Domon certainly wasn't expecting to see him in the garden when he rounded the corner of the Mikamura residence #Leaned over Kyoji who appears to have been working outside on his laptop. Fingers intertwined a hand on Kyojis jaw and locked in a kiss. #Which ends pretty much instantly as they sense Domon and break apart. It occurs to Kyoji and Schwarz that Kyoji never #Got the chance to actually tell Domon much about himself and the man he'd grown into while Domon was training in Hong Kong with Master Asia #This might be a pretty significant shock to him. #I can't decide between Domon running from his Gay Revelation or IMMEDIATELY Losing His Shit at the thought of Rain's SECOND marriage ending #And knowing for sure now the reason why his and Rain's marriage didn't work out. He really does prefer men. #Bu HOW DARE Kyoji do this to her!!! She's been through enough!!!! This will HURT her SO BADLY!!! (Projection of guiiillllttt) #Back to square 1 fir a moment like damn #And once he starts fighting Kyoji about it (Thank God the ressurection gave them the option to make Kyojis new build similar to Schwarz's) #It comes out that Rain cant go through this AGAIN and he won't let him do this to her! Her honor means something to Domon #And it should mean something to Kyoji too as HER HUSBAND #Kyoji and Schwarz catch on the Again bit and Kyoji makes it clear that Rain has known about his situation with Schwarz since they returned #That they're quite literally inseparable and that Rain married him knowing this. She's fully aware and an active participant. #Domon takes a leg sweep and doesn't quite make his recovery as Schwarz steps in #Pinning his arms and one leg in place so he can't run from Kyojis question. oh bless you! i don't think there's any sort of guide to getting wade's character right - all the canon writers write him so, so differently - he really is the sort of character that can be anything the author needs him to be (for better or for worse)

i know i've received complaints over the years about how i portray wade - sometimes people think i make him too emotional, or what-have-you, but i think the biggest crime anyone can commit when writing wade is him not being funny. (i know, that's so, so subjective.) i think when wade falls short for me in the comics or in any characterisation it's usually down to me just not finding the jokes funny! i can kind of forgive anything at all, as long as it's funny.

i've seen a lot of more serious depictions of wade in fanfiction and it kind of throws me for a loop - he's a showman. he'll always be cracking a joke, and if he isn't, you're in trouble.

i think something i'm kind of obsessed with when writing wade is the intentionality behind his words and actions - he's kind of a master of deflection. i think i do love to see a hyper-competent wade, who only plays the part of the idiot because it's what the audience likes to see. he's never stupid, he's just unlucky. when things go wrong for him, it's not due to stupidity - it's either self-sabotage, or he's a victim of the narrative. i think that's where my depiction of wade differs from daddy nicieza's - i think daddy nicieza's wade is big stupid, most of the time.

but even then, his wade isn't as big of an idiot as he acts. and a lot of it is an act. he's putting on a show. i love a wade wilson who's actually so much more intelligent than he lets show. a wade wilson who's perpetually holding all his cards to his chest because he doesn't want anyone to be able to pin him down or predict him.

all his cards. on terms of capability, and also his emotions. he's so calculated about what other people get to see of him, particularly when he's wearing the mask. (when he's out of the mask he has decidedly less control over what people see of him.)

i think there's a few things that turn me off from a deadpool characterisation - mostly when i see a wade that's too sugary (i think that's why i can't care very much for the most recent deadpool series) - wade always has demons to overcome. always. being heroic isn't something that comes naturally to him. it isn't something that comes naturally to anyone, but at least wade's honest about it.

i like to see a wade that's a jerk. because he is. he's always been. it's like, his first ever personality trait. he is a jerk. a selfish jerk. please, oh please god, do not forget that he's a selfish jerk. i really love portrayals of him that don't shy away from that, but make him endearing anyway. you really don't have to erase all the bad parts of a character to make them likeable. you really, really don't. those bad parts are the tasty bits. makes me keep coming back for more.

when i see a wade that is not a selfish jerk i am like "wha. whuh. who is that. that's not wade. that's not my son. why is he not spitting in my eye right now."

i kind of have to hate him just a little. that's like, the whole point. you're meant to love and hate wade simultaneously, all the time. anyone who loves wade knows this wholeheartedly. to love him is to hate him.

second to that, please don't ever make wade wilson a sexual predator. that's a real problem (hate that).

I think you're right in that Howdy has caught onto something being off about their world. But he can't just jump up and tell everyone that they are living in a simulation. So he has to watch and wait for everyone else to realize it in their own time.

In his heart, he is a lovable asshole. And an asshole he will be!

Sally got close to figuring out that the food are props, but it hasn't clicked yet. Until then, the lable on the "mashed potatoes" is just a marketing ploy.

And sure, Howdy knows the blowing balls are made of foam, but Eddie doesn't know that! So Howdy sends him off, watching him struggle to carry something that weighs next to nothing.

Maybe if they interact with enough props, they'll catch on, too? In the meantime, Howdy is gonna have fun messing with everyone.

One thing that bugs me about Astarion's storyline is that you can miss most of his story if you simply don't have him in your party at the right moment. Gandrel, Raphael (in Last Light Inn), Araj, Raphael (in front of the mausoleum), his siblings in Fraygo's flophouse. (And if you don't rest enough times before going to Cazador you won't even meet his siblings). I'm watching a streamer right now and I'm screaming at the screen because he has not had Astarion with him for any of these things and it's the most frustrating thing ever.

a/n edit: I'm so MAD i typed this out about 5 days ago then didn't post it, and now with the update it's slightly irrelevant because it is being more discussed BUT here this is anyway –

sorry but I'm thinking about how we recently learned that Wild knew an older/ghost(?) Twilight during his journey. I've read so many fics with this premise but 95% of the time it's a younger twi who remembers being a companion, and now we have a canon that is clearly not that...

thinking back over the content of the comic so far I'm going crazy thinking about how for all that time, for every moment we've seen so far, wild knew.

Twi has been brooding and tight-lipped about his connection to Time, but it's been an underlying thing we (the readers) are aware of. And it's pure tragedy, for us and for Twi, knowing what Time's fate will be. Wild, meanwhile, must know something of Twilight's fate. which, narratively, is [dial-up-modem noises]. It's about the time-travel-fuckery!!! It's about the tragedy of one having met the other before, but the other doesn't know— but for three people! Twi silently bears the loneliness of knowing someone who doesn't know him, of knowing a version of Time who doesn't yet exist. Twi carries this burden of knowledge, while (apparently?) being oblivious to the fact that the other member of the chain he's particularly close to carries the same knowledge about him. [edit: yesterday's update implies that wild has explained to twilight that they've met before, but we still don't know how much he revealed, so...]

But we haven't until now seen any hint of how knowing of Twilight's fate affects wild. We haven't even seen a hint that he knew more. Why????

His close relationship to twilight is evident but there's an easiness between them. Wild has never gazed after twilight solemnly...

...has never had the air of secrecy and tension with twi that twi has with time.

And ok this could just be something jojo missed or didn't think about, but why did wild say this about companions, if he apparently had one the whole time?

Wild has been a largely light-hearted personality among the group so far and he has appeared to be very honest about his journey, but this maybe blows that all open by implying how much he's been hiding about what he knows. He can't have told twi much of anything, if twi thinks he had no companion.

AND while we know the story of Twilight and Time from TP (except any changes jojo might have made that we haven't seen), what happened between Wild and Wolfie is a complete mystery to us! It's a story that's entirely jojo's creation! So... What was their relationship like? What was Twi like, being noticeably older? Was he alive and dragged to another time, or was he a spirit? We saw him with both wild and zelda—

wild's long hair implies this moment didn't occur pre-calamity, while zelda's long hair implies it was before the point pre-TOTK when she cut it shorter, so probably not long after they defeated ganon? Which means wolfie, having met wild soon after he emerged from the shrine of resurrection, was still around after wild's journey? What happened to him? Did he leave, and did they get to say goodbye? Or were they still together when wild hopped through that portal? Did wild ever know wolfie was actually Hylian, let alone a hero, or did he have to figure that out when he met Twilight for the first time? Was twi ever able to turn into his human form and actually speak to wild? Who or what brought him to the botw era?

If he's a spirit, same as Time - what is twilight going to regret so much that he sticks around?

Has wild altered his interactions with twi because of this? knowing that whatever twi finds out about him now, could prepare him for when he meets the younger wild... [edit: Plus now we know wild had some kind of intense reaction upon first meeting twi]

obviously i imagine (hope) we get answers to some of these in the comic, but i also think this new info is so ripe for us making content and I've hardly seen anything beyond the initial keysmash reactions. because this is genuinely making me 🤯🧐 Especially the parallel but clearly different dynamics of twilight & time VS. wild and twilight; the knowing and not knowing, the "one day you'll meet a younger me, and I won't know you, but here and now, i know you while you don't know me".

And, as a sidenote, all this is making me think— is wind the only one who has been honest about what he knows about his predecessor...?
